About this episode
September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month in the UK, and the internet’s big sis is joined by writer, poet, presenter, creative, and award-winning journalist Simply Sayo. As an NHS Blood & Transplant Ambassador and passionate advocate for the Black community, Sayo is leading a powerful year-long campaign, It Takes A Village, which aims to recruit 16,000 Black blood donors. In this episode, she opens up about her advocacy work, her family’s experience with sickle cell, and joins Toni in Tea Time with Toni to help solve your dilemmas.
New blood donors from Black heritage backgrounds are urgently needed to help meet the demand for better-matched blood for patients living with sickle cell disorder.
