Sgt. Tom "Let's not move backwards" | Production has been paused

About this episode

"It is disappointing that I have to make the following statement, however, with the Derek Chauvin Trial coming to a close combined with the recent controversial Officer Involved Shootings in Minneapolis and Chicago. Many Law Enforcement agencies are hoping for the best, but must prepare for the worst.

I am still an active member in law enforcement and my duties and responsibilities as such remain my first priority.

Therefore, I must take a week, maybe longer from the Policing in America podcast.  This breaks my heart because we are at a point when effective communication is vital.

With that, please stay safe. and let us each take on the burden of ensuring we do not move backwards.

Our communities rightfully have the expectation that they can express their feelings in the public square, but that comes with the responsibility of doing so productively, not destructively.

Our officers also have the expectation that they will not be attacked for things they have nothing to do with.

We are all in this together so let's not argue, let's not insult.  Let's have the conversations that are necessary for change."
