It's the US Open, which means the tennis world is about to lose its mind, and I'm here for every second of it. Join me, Renee Stubbs on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast as I break it all down. The matches that matter, the drama that doesn't, and the stories everyone's talking about. No cliches, no sugarcoating, just host analysts, from someone who's actually been there. Coco, looking real good, her serve looks so much smoother than it has in the past. I was really happy to see you go back to what she looked like a couple of years ago when she was

winning dominantly. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Yeah, that Chuck Norris was tracing the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Rex was not chasing the Jeep. Murray, Murray, you there? You love sandwiches, huh? Let's go to 80. He was bow. Wow, that's prime time, maybe. Nah, I had a crush on Betty Rubble. I honestly, it's all after the segment I did, and we went to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan coachman was black. He cost them the game last night, although they won the game. You're listening to Stukatsu Company. Ha, I don't want to get carried away. I know the game was up Friday night. We've had Saturday, a Saturday full of football, and then we had Sunday night football, and we've had football all weekend, and it's great that football is back. But I got to tell you, Jerry and Mensa might be the greatest hurricane of all time. How about that? Well, I got news for you.

While I'd like to take your opinion to the wood shed and say it's a little too early to make that distinction. I might be on board with you. He really, he looked unbelievable. He really did. He just, you want, as a football fan, to feel confident that your quarterback is going to be able to find an open receiver, is going to be able to extend a play if the pocket collapses. Darian Mensa did everything right on Friday night. It was remarkable to watch. How accurate he is as well. Yeah. And Malachi Tony as well. I mean, just, it's, you know, Malachi Tony, I thought before the season, I was like, hey, don't expect to see what you saw last season from Malachi Tony, because he was sneaking up on college football last season. Nobody really knew about him. Oh, 17 year old kid. And, you know, they're hoping that he turns into a good weapon. And I thought to myself this year, obviously, if you're defensive coordinator, you're saying, okay, we know what Malachi Tony can do. Let's make sure he doesn't get open.

Let's make sure he doesn't consistently beat us. And Malachi Tony looked better this, this first game than he looked maybe in any game last season. He is the real deal. Like, you're talking, I mean, there is a list of hurricanes receivers in history that Malachi Tony, if he stays there long enough, they end up eclipsing. I don't have the data to back this up, but week one in college football, that had to be the record for most amount of Heisman pose hit. Right. Yes. Who else is doing them? Someone else was it us? Was it the guy in Ohio State? Jeremiah Smith. Everybody who scores a touchdown this year is hitting the Heisman pose. Yeah. Well, Malachi kind of set the barometer there. So if you're Smith and you want to keep up, and you want to keep your name in the in the Heisman conversation, you better start doing it, Tuddy for Tuddy as well. Yes. I mean, he had 12 catches 234 yards at three touchdowns. Malachi Tony, it's absurd. That's insane. I mean, I know it's Stanford, but still it's ridiculous.

Well, is there is there is there a chance here where a non like the quarterbacks are great, at least they weren't week one. But is there a chance that whether it's Smith, whether it's Malachi Tony that we might see someone who's not playing quarterback when the husband trophy? I mean, we might there's some talented players, man. The path for somebody like Malachi Tony winning would be like Gary Mensa has to be like turnover prone or Malachi Tony has to be doing like screens and taking them to the house. It's hard to see each other, right? Yeah. Yeah. No, but if you have gaudy numbers, if you have go I don't care if it's long passes or yak, if you have gaudy, yardage numbers, gaudy number of receptions, gaudy number of TDs, is it possible at the Heisman ceremony? You see two kids from Ohio state and two kids from university of Miami? Has that ever happened before? I don't think so. No. That would be wild. That's the way it's pacing. Yes, I'll tell her. I have a serious question here. How did it talent like Darry and Mensa end up at Duke? Well, it was at Tulane first. How did it

add it a quarter back like that end up at Tulane? I mean, how did Kurt Warner end up bagging groceries sometimes they just slipped through the cracks? Yeah. Well, that's what I love about the portal hawk, even with Louisville last night. You saw an Ohio state backup who normally just would have remained a backup. He gets to transfer now. He goes to Louisville. They lost that game to Mississippi, but it was a great game right down to the wire. But that kid now gets an opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially get drafted by the NFL. Where in years past, he's just a backup to whoever Ohio State's quarterback is. I would like to say, by the way, if there's a gambling Heisman, I am throwing up the Heisman pose as well. And I am the leader in the clubhouse. I have not lost a college football wager. Really? I had Miami Hurricane. I had the hurricane Stanford over 46 and a half. That is. I had hurricane's team total over 35 and a half that hit. And then on Saturday, I did a four teamer Ohio State minus 50 and a half. Got dicey at the end. They covered.

I had FIU plus 14 and a half against the USF bulls. Wow. That was the most amazing cover that I'll ever get all season long. I don't know if you saw it, Stu gots. I can see Taylor saw it. Literally the last play of the game. They scored a touchdown. First of all, USF scored a field goal with less than two minutes to go that put my parlay out of reach. And FIU just goes right down the field because USF is in the weirdest prevent defense because it doesn't matter if they score. They're gonna need to score twice right to point the back door defense. I mean, it was crazy. I covered that one. And then I had LSU minus nine and a half. I mean, they rumped over Clemson. And then I had the Florida Gators minus 26 and a half over my own FAU owls. I have started the college season undefeated. Look at Stu. Does it bother you? The guy who tells you all his bets win, but he never shares the bets with you. Yes. Yeah. Hox that guy. Yeah. Trust me. You don't want me sharing my bets with

you because you are going to end up losing 98% of the weightiers that I send you. So I'm just celebrating a Heisman style weekend for myself. Trust me. I've never had a winning season and I never will. You don't want me to share my bets. It happens so infrequently that he just, I couldn't believe it. Wait. So there's South Florida. I had no business covering that FIU game. All right. Just so I'm clear. And I do mind when people do that except when Hawk does it because it happened so infrequently that he is entitled to brag when he actually when he gets it right. But you're saying that South Florida kicked an unnecessary field goal. They were covering the spread. But they left two minutes on the clock played some weird defense. FIU came back. I called the backdoor defense when they leave the backdoor wide open for FIU to cover. And you're telling the FIU cover with a touch step. Yeah. It was amazing. And the weird thing is FIU was content. I'm sorry.

USF was content to run out the clock at the end of the game even though they were in scoring position against FIU again. And FIU after the two minute, I still call it the two minute warning. What's it called now? Two minute time out. I think it's two minutes time out. They literally made a concerted effort to change that. Why? Why is it no longer called the two minute warning? It's a great question. I have no idea. Right. Maybe to make themselves different from the NFL. I have no idea. Is that one of the dumbest name changes? Remember when Radio Shack became the shack? Yeah. Yes. Is that one or new Coke? But that wasn't really a name change. It was a branding issue. Is that is the is making certain that the two minute warning is only referred to as the two minute time out. Is that one of the most bizarre name changes of all time? I like a warning better. I mean, I like to know there's just two minutes left in your life. Of course. Yeah. Like two minutes. There's two minutes if you want to do something, you're running

out of time. You better do it now. It's a warning. If I'm on a cruise ship and it's going down. Yeah. Do I want a warning or do I want the captain to come on the PA and go eight time out? Well, I mean time out time stops. It's not that. Now I don't know which one I want. You just made a compelling case for the time when you're saying like they can time it out like Superman, like can you know, fly backwards and spin the earth reverse on its axis and then all of a sudden time goes backwards. He he he he he he time back. There's time out actually stop time. Yeah. Time out. It stops a clock. But this is actually stop time time in finitum. Oh my god. I don't know.

Congratulations to you big weekend. I will send you my big country. I will send you my picks every week. I'm telling you though. Do not tell me. Okay. Fade my pick. I think bear had FIU. Did he not? You told us FIU. Yeah, I think he did. Well, I want your picks. I'll send them to us every single Friday if you can. You want to know what I've already put in? Yes. For this coming weekend. Please. I did put in one wager. Well, two things I had two in Tonga Vailoa in. Now this is weeks ago. It's on back player of the year. Yeah. And the first part I believe of that of that wager at plus 4,000 hitting is him getting the starting job, which he did. Right. So I kind of feel like the ticket is still in play. Good. If you watched him during preseason and joint practices, tickets not very much in play. But the fact that he got the starting job may be miracle seven. But I did put in because they finally

listed the player props for the Dolphins Raiders game on Sunday. And I parlayed Devon HN over 105, 105 and a half rushing and receiving yards. And one or more anytime touched out. Nice. He's got to be the entire offense for the Dolphins. Well, my, my fear is he is the entire offense of the defense. He's going to be geared up to stop him. Yeah. No, no. I mean, that's obviously if you're a defensive coordinator, you're going to go into every Dolphins game going. If we stopped Devon HN, we stopped the offense. But I kind of saw it last year with him where he would just find openings. He would find ways to get into the end zone. Our town is small taters by most standards, right? But to the people who grew up here, it's everything. What happens when a quiet Tennessee town becomes the front line in a battle over the future of America? Developers with right wing ties have purchased hundreds of acres of land in the area. The first thing you see when it pops up is high nears and apple etchum. But they weren't just

planning houses. We need cities on a shining hill that exemplify and embody the Christian way of life. Stop right there. Is that normal? A podcast about what happens when a small town becomes the site of a social experiment. God need mental rule. Great. And decides to fight back. Do not use my hard work to sell your bull. They're not just opposing what's being planned for here. Our hometown is not a test too. They feel like they're standing in opposition to an entire administration. I guess you didn't move in on a bunch of dumb hillbillies now, did you? Listen to our town on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know the feeling. The hot just a couple of things here. College football related. LSU and link if in that team like what you're hearing this morning is that's like the hurricanes in the 80s. That's the hurricanes in the 90s. They got swagger. They've got talent. They've got talent on top of talent. That was LSU without their NFL players. And they just undressed Clemson on national TV. I don't know what's going to happen here to dab a sweetie. But you can like link if in dislike link if you want to.

And link if it's a good coach and link if in his great at a massive talent and they have talent that does remind me of the kids where they're 3D but every position it's crazy. You know I was having lunch with a friend on Saturday. And he said to me so you're rooting for the guy and he meant lane kiffin. Yes. And I don't know I you know I bet LSU. And I'm not rooting for Clemson obviously because they're in the ACC and I'm a Miami guy. So I don't mind if Clemson is terrible which they are. I'm so torn on lane kiffin because he's got some attributes that I like which is just hey fuck it. I'm doing what I want to do and if you don't like it that's on you. Yes. But also he's got other attributes that I really dislike like hey fuck it. I'm doing whatever I want to do and if you don't like it. It's on you. I'm so torn on the guy. There's times I love him. There's times I don't like him but it is indisputable. His offenses are just something to watch and the way that he can amass talent.

Now you can try to figure out on your own how he's able to amass this kind of talent. That's not crazy. You know that's that's above my pay grade but you can't argue his success but they looked like an unstoppable force. Crazy. Yeah I was at the stadium hook and their defense at times looked like they had like 15 guys out there that's how fast they were flying around. Sam Levitt you squint a little he starts to look like Jackson dart out there. He really does. He's so talented man he's athletic. I mean Taylor owns that line you know that line for college football season. He squinted a little. Listen he did it with Jackson dart. Trinidad Hubbard who you saw last night that's the link if in quarterback and I was doing it with Sam Levitt. I mean the guy knows how to coach. He's an ass but he knows how to coach. We've over corrected a bit when Kirk signety goes to Indiana saying that a coach can win anywhere because I do think the pool of places that coaches can now win at college football is greater than it's ever been.

But when you see LSU Saturday night in death Valley you understand why somebody like Lane Kiffin leaves old miss to go to LSU because you can't replicate what they have in Baton Rouge really anywhere else in the country outside of maybe like three four jobs. I mean he said it when he got it right this is the greatest job in college football and that can be debated because I do think there's like is the Notre Dame head coaching job more high profile than LSU. It's it's right up there and they're very good as well. But it's certainly up there. But Lane Kiffin though I think this is the job though. I don't know. You can't replicate it and the way that the head coach there can literally become the president of the state. Right. Is one thing that can't be replicated in a lot of places. Taylor what is the best coaching job if you if Lane Kiffin had his choice of coaching jobs would it be Notre Dame would it be where he is at LSU would it be Miami would it be Alabama would it be Texas.

What do you think. I think it would have to be some combination of Texas LSU or Alabama places where if all the resources were equal if NIL was equal. If the boosters were all equal whose home field atmosphere takes you over the top yeah that probably Penn State is is near that conversation of a great game day atmosphere. Uh but but LSU is definitely there but I think the perfect thing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU marriage is. LSU fans don't really care if you you like them or not and Lane Kiffin kind of goes in with that same personality where the LSU champ that that neck chant that they do is all about suck that Tigers. Yep and then Lane Kiffin comes out and he's like imagine how good we would be if we had NFL players when they're absolutely racing Clemson off the field. Yes, which by the way there's not a coach in college football that would have brought up that swirl which was a swirl.

Yes during a half time interview. Right other than Lane Kiffin he's the only guy who would have referenced it even even in the joking manner he's the only guy who would have done that. Yeah, talking to lead up to that game in this Clemson LSU game it almost felt like is this going to be too much of a distraction for this LSU team can the NFL guys play can they not will they be added to the roster will they not how will Lane Kiffin be able to focus them Lane Kiffin's out his best when everything else is a mess yeah it's really funny because I had that thought dude because I did have them as part of my part of the land I'm like man dude how about you just concentrate on the game leading up to it it's kind of a big prime time opening game like stop with all the nonsense why don't you just concentrate on the game plan then I watch the game I'm like oh yeah he got this he's okay yeah no I watched the game I started to say that same thing those same exact things about Dabba. He's done at Clemson I've been Clemson has to move on for most of us. Well no so the funny thing about Dabba was yes he's done at Clemson he was supposed to be the heir apparent to Nick Sabin at Alabama like that's not him going to Alabama or him coaching anywhere after this disaster is all he'll get he'll get a job but we'll be like a USF job but he ain't going to Alabama or you know he was supposed to be the next Nick Sabin at Alabama and then college football change and dabba sweetie just keeps his feet he's just dragging his feet saying I'm not going to use the transfer portal I'm not going to use NIO and then you have Lane Kiffin.

Who's like I'll use NIO I'll use the transfer portal we're going to compete for national championships here. Yeah yeah I got a little bit of a little cutesy it was like back in the 80s or 90s you know people started to get beepers and there were always these guys ago I don't need a beeper when I need a beeper for I'm not a doctor I'm getting a beeper and in the meantime you know your buddy in high school has got two beepers he's with every girl in high school and you're you're sitting by your phone waiting for it to ring because you don't even have an answer. I'm the answering machine and you know all of a sudden I'm the I'm the dabba sweetie of high school Highland Park High School. You got to roll with the time you got to roll with the time to get a fucking beeper. Uh-huh were you were you aware this was didn't expect that comparison did you Taylor didn't really resonate with you. What's a beeper? We say it is like it has nine beepers he's got a belt of beepers. I was honestly going to do it and I know uh Stugat's loves Murray I was going to do it with subprime lending.

I thought there was a good analogy there which is you had some lenders saying hey we're not going to give out these risky loans and in the meantime every other lender is raking in money hand over fist money that they know is bad money. They're never going to get it back but they're raking in all this money and you got you know like two places going yeah we're not going to we're not going to go into these risky uh these risky loans all of a sudden they're out of business. And she's in Lehman. She's in Lehman is the dabbo sweetie of the financial world. So there you go the two references that no one got. Put it on the pole. She's in Lehman. Tapo sweaty of financial institutions. I'm going to submit Taylor may not have even ever heard of Sheerson Lehman. Yeah. That is so good. I can't tell if I'm channeling Dennis Miller or Devo.

He did it with a sharpie in your mouth though. I know it hit. A hawk were you aware because this is the big story from the college for both weekend we'll get out of here in a second. Everyone enjoy their Labor Day weekend. Uh that what we were watching on TV is different from what the officials were watching uh with their clock when we talk about Michigan and western Michigan. But like how far off could the clock possibly be? Like am I watching a game that I think is in the third quarter and the officials know it's in the fourth quarter like how far off are the clocks? That was that was such bullshit. I I'm sorry they can explain it all they want. They can show me the angle that they were looking at. How about this? If the rest of the world is looking at one clock. Yeah. And you have one hired helper. But you're not going to have him stare at the same clock the rest of the world is. He's going to stare at a different clock.

Maybe the system is faulty. Yeah. Like they superimpose the clock on the game broadcast. Well superimpose the clock from the replay center then. Yes. Of the game broadcast. Right. Don't superimpose some clock that some slob is running at the stadium. How about superimposing the actual clock? How about we just all adhere to the same clock? Let's all watch the same clock. You know it reminds me of Dick Clark's rocking new years. Yeah. When I'm looking at my clock it's 12.01 and he's starting the countdown. Hey Clark. Oh my clocks are atomic clocks. I think they're all said to the the iPhone. Whatever. I don't even think Dick Clark went around for the iPhone. But roll with me on this one. Hey Clark. How about you start the the countdown when the rest of us know it's already midnight? Is Dick Clark the Shears and Lehman of New Year's evos?

Of beepers. He has reference to Shears and Lehman beepers. Take the clock and watch it in New Year's. I want to be clear. I stand with the little guys in Western Michigan. I think Western Michigan got robbed. But if I was just playing devil's advocate here for a second, they put a second back and you still give up a 47 yard hell marry. Hey is it the hardest thing to stop? I don't know. Two hell marries. I mean that makes it impossible. Like oh they award someone an extra free throw. You're kind of giving them an easy bucket. Right? Oh it's an extra free throw. Is it really that difficult to stop two hell marries in the span of giving someone an extra full court heave? Right exactly. Like we're going to give you one more full court heave. All right go ahead.

Do your full court heave. And your Western Michigan. It felt like you're giving it to staff. You're giving it to Dremont. Hey it's Bobby bones. Join me and former NFL quarterback Matt Castle.
