He's so freaking handsome and talented, but he can hold a normal conversation I say that one a lot. Yeah, well jokes on all you fools Because I'm about to become the life of every party going forward And it's all thanks to our listener who came up with one of the cleanest and most fun icebreaker questions We've ever heard Yeah, it's so clutch it even got him a date with a beautiful woman I'm not interested in any of that stuff, but all of the fun at the parties that's gonna be me You're gonna hear what it was got to get invited to Jeff. It's coming up in your second date update right after this We obviously have heard about people meeting on dating apps. Yeah, or during activities like a run club Or hopscotch karaoke classes. You do it all at the same time. Yeah, it's really fun really challenging

2:06But kind of a more old school thing that's been around and it's making its way back again is singles events Oh, yeah, you know, I've been really into love on the spectrum the show And they do all sorts of speed dating on that show cute and you are doing the singles events too Oh, no, okay, but apparently they are still a thing because one of our listeners went to one recently And he needs our help today his name is Trey so Trey. Hey, thanks for emailing in welcome to the show Hey guys, thank you so much for having me. Oh, well, thank you for thanking us for having you Was this was this the first like singles mingle or whatever they called it that you've ever done? No, so I've actually been to a couple of them. I am really anti like the dating apps and I I'm much more on making like a human connection Yeah, and it's way harder to lie about yourself when you're meeting people in person You can still pull it off trust me, but it's harder. What do you mean? I'm about six feet. I'm sitting right in front of you Okay, so how did it go?

3:07So the last one I went to um, it was a little weirder because there's a ton of guys there And usually it's a good like 50 flip the mix, but there's definitely more of I guess you would Traditionally call it more of a sausage fest More guys were applied to the emails that when they set them up than anything Sounds like whoever was producing it screwed up Yeah, yeah, because that's like the whole point of it. They hold it at a sports bar Yeah Sports bar I'd be a little more excited than it's like a regular total I never thought about the venue playing a role in that. I mean now you're working at a disadvantage if there's more guys than girls Yeah, I mean it can be a little competitive You know, which is not really like what you want to vibe to feel like I don't want to be looking at this time I'm like, oh, I wonder if this guy's gonna have a better answer than me. Yeah Okay, did you come in with like a certain question you like to ask that's intriguing and good combo starter Okay, I'll let you guys tell me how good of a question is so you're familiar that we only have the young Sheldon because big bang theory exists. Yeah, if you could have any young

4:11Character show who would you want to see a young version? Oh Yeah, great question like we're getting the new Harry Potter series about young young Harry Potter. What about the Cosby shows? Is that a good answer? He's actually eating pudding because his mom gave it to him. I love it. Yeah I would not go with that one Jeff. Okay, my funny answer to that is young George Because then you still get a little Jerry Wow, but he somehow she somehow still bald That sounds like a really good icebreaker. How did the mingling actually go? So it didn't go great like I said there's a lot of people who's just hard to find time to get any Face time with everybody because everyone just move it so quickly and okay There's no point the host of the event came over and mentioned and he like hey, I really appreciate you coming out But then had this like very weird backhanded comment of I know you're not as contrasting as some of the other guys here

5:12Wild the organizer of the events said that to you. Was it a guy or a girl? It was a girl and she looks so I know what a great personality you have because you see me at other events You know If she sees like a thousand daters a week and she's just being but she may just in her head have spoken out loud Yeah, or if she is also single maybe she was trying to nag you a little bit. I don't We didn't do that right How did you get back in there after that? I might confidence would have been deflated. Yeah, I didn't feel great Not to rush you through this story But we are gonna be calling somebody you didn't meet a woman eventually right Yes, so that takes me to the next part so later in the event a couple of other like girls walked in It was late. It was nice because some of the people are already kind of matched So I have a little bit better of an in Okay, and that's when I started connecting with stuff stuff stuff okay, yeah, stuff. She was great

6:16We tried it for like 15 minutes one-on-one I asked her out. Okay, of course. I knocked out which young show would you want to see? Hers was young. It's always sunny, which I think is My gosh Which means she's funny Yeah, I mean you guys are correct so then we set up a date a week later We met just like really cool wine bar. That's near my you did me. Okay. Yeah, I mean how did you dream? Right at like the hour mark she was like well, I have to go And just kind of cut it off which caught me up guard because I kind of was locked in for the evening I was like great. We hit the wine bar down the road It's really incredible taco joint that I love going to I thought it'd be like a fun like whole night Yeah, wine and tacos perfect company It is just because it was right on the hour market sounds like maybe she like read something somewhere that's like oh Don't let your date go more than an hour You know what I mean? I don't know or I mean my head first went to if she's doing these speed dating events with him

7:18Maybe there's multiple other guys that she matched with and had a whole That idea either Jeff. They're a common thing to have like kind of a rotation a roster now Just knock them all out exactly. Yeah. How long ago did that date happen? Uh, that was um about a week ago. All right, and you ever heard from her at all No, she hasn't gotten back and I'm also not someone that's gonna like triple text someone like I know you know, I did the space to respond You are self-aware that is crazy on this show, dude Yeah, that never happens. 8:23Which is why you'll yes, sorry So naturally for their date he took her out not to an Irish bar, but to a wine bar Oh, it's smart don't give women everything they want right up front I think I'm just do a dumpster behind the You have that would have worked just this but the one hour mark Steph kind of called it all of a sudden almost like she was timing the date Yeah, so kind of a strange end to it and Trey here's the deal If we are able to get her to answer you know, we're gonna talk to her about your actual day and probably about the night You two met so I need to ask you is it totally off limits for us if it comes up to Tell her about the host of the singles mixer calling you on attractive Why in the world? I'm just saying if it comes up the date wasn't even part of that conversation why Come up then okay. Yeah, I'm sure it won't this is great. Okay

Well stuff you met a great guy who you went out with and now he wants another date and you aren't calling him back Uh, who's this guy you're talking though I'm really bad with names that I forgot to write a gem All right, I'll say it's okay. Pass the baton to me the guy's name is Trey. That's what I was gonna say Trey Okay, back to Brooke. Do you remember Trey Yeah, I do Yeah, I feel kind of bad about that one oh you do. Oh well

11:31We heard about the date that you two went on to the wine bar and from Trey's Description of it. It was a really nice time So he's a little bit just confused now that there hasn't been a second meetup no follow-up afterwards Well, maybe that's why she feels bad. Is that why you feel bad stuff? Honestly, I don't even know if I should be like telling you about this because it's kind of embarrassing I feel weird about it. Oh It's embarrassing is embarrassing for you or is it embarrassing for Trey? Uh, I guess potentially for Everyone I don't know Okay, here's the deal whenever we have listeners on this segment They acknowledge that there may be some awkwardness some difficult truths that they have to hear and Trey Just wants to know the honest reason there hasn't been a second meetup no matter what Okay, well, I mean I guess I can tell you it would really help him out Basically I'm friends with some of the people that organized these singles events are you kidding me?

12:34I mean this one particular night, you know, they didn't quite have enough people there specifically They didn't really have a lot of women Oh He had actually mentioned that about the speed dating night that you guys met that there was a lot of guys Then there was like another wave Yeah That would be because Sometimes they give people like 30 bucks to just show up and like kind of mingle with everybody fill it out You know you went on a second date after that. That's true You guys that was it You're right where you paid to go out with him on the second date? No No, not at all. It was just the initial kind of speed dating thing with everybody But I just kept thinking the whole time like this continues to go well We're gonna have to have a conversation about Oh, I entered the picture initially and I just feel horrible about that because I don't I don't want him to take it the wrong way I'm confused though were you interested in him or are you not because it sounds like you went out to the wine bar Just for an ego boost is what I'm picking up

13:36That was part of it. I mean he is he's really cute. He's really nice. Okay anyone would be lucky to like going a date with him Are you sure he's really cute like how cute is Jeffrey Well back off So where is your head at now stuff because according to him you're not reaching out to him anymore That sends the signal that you're not interested Well, I don't know sometimes I'm just really non-confrontational and I really really didn't want to have that conversation Where I'm like oh hey, I was paid to meet you and Okay, you're never gonna get a new relationship with this great guy You don't have a talk with me. We're just paid to go to the event But initially that's how they met like she was paid money to go there and meet him and I can see how Specifically just anybody just to be there sure anybody But anyone finding out the person they really like was paid to meet them And that's not gonna feel good. It is cute. I hear you that you're worried about having that

14:37Conversation with him down the line somewhere it could be awkward the good news is we already got it out of the way like a bandaid Right off because he's actually on the other line listening to this right now Yeah, please do not say that to me. I can't not say that to you because the truth is God Hey, how's it going stuff I am really sorry you had to find out like this Pretty strange I totally understand the awkwardness of not wanting to like mention how you ended up at set event obviously I was there as a participant But I think whatever the love story ends up being it doesn't matter the origin It's more about how it ends up Okay, so tray you're not offended at all or put off by the fact that she was paid that night to be there Honestly not that's kind of up to the organizer I mean she got bodies there however they get there as long as we're continuing to like have the conversation and it's not all

15:37Being paid to continue to If anything you should be you should feel guilty stuff that you took the money since you met somebody at the You should pay him $30 to make it even and now he knows you really like him for him Right, I was just gonna have her give the money back to the organizer Can always send it to us too. I mean we can always But stuff what do you think about what he just said there? I don't know I just I enjoyed your company and enjoyed talking with you Nice I just got like nervous and like I said I was two in my head about the conversation. We were going to have to have Okay, yeah, and I feel some positive momentum happening We've got somebody that awkward conversation out of the way and you don't even realize it stuff You're really good at conversation you gave the best answer to his TV show question out of the entire Yeah That's why this is gonna be kind of tricky because I want to offer to send you on another day and tell you we'd pay for

16:42But if you think yeah, and then it's like I See where I am She Ben is a charity. Honestly, I don't want this to be more confused or muddled by money being involved I'd love for it to kind of feel more organic and genuine So step will you go out with me again? I'm pretty sure has a pretty sad ending. I mean It's beautiful, but she's the one that should be dead if that's the story Or who knows maybe they really sweet. Maybe they're involved a chubby boy scout Or just a lot of balloons The boy scouts is usually how my dates end up And Let's welcome to the show Sophia Sophia can't wait to hear how you felt like your date was like that pizzerre film

20:54There was no boy scout There were no balloons It's the guy just super old Yeah, what do you mean it's like up You know how they're just like this perfect match right from the beginning It felt like that and it felt like we just fit and I could just like see the whole montage not all the fab Yeah, that is a lot of pressure on a first date to feel that way I mean, it's beautiful. That's beautiful Totally so who died on the date? Nobody died I really hope that time because he's not calling back The more that we hear the story let's start with the guy's name So his name is Andy. Okay, where'd you meet him? We actually met on a dating app and we we talked for a while. I thought he was so cute He had that like perfect square jawline and even Did his hair similarly took Carl from the movies?

21:56Oh my god The old man in up does have a really square head Yeah, that's interesting. Did you tell him that? I did I didn't mention it a little bit But I mean I I told him that I thought it was so so cute. Well, we're gonna mark that as red balloon number one I like what you guys do for your date Um my sister actually gave me this vintage wicker basket. Oh god. I was telling Andy that I've Always wanted to use it. I've never had a good enough excuse. I love a good picnic that like Perhaps the chubby boy scout No They wanted to use your picnic basket. He was down for that

22:58He was he was so excited and it was so just like a whole sum and he was in charge of bringing the actual food And I was in charge of bringing the activities and the basket I'm gonna bring in bubble which um, I realized quickly was really stupid. I was thinking of frisbee would be a cool But I see that now Okay The bubble lasted for all of like 30 seconds. It wasn't super entertaining I brought some like finger painting stuff. I thought that would be cute too Think you're gonna be able to eat this guy Can I use that as he said it? I mean maybe we're the love of men The big bubble wands are actually sweet There you go What did he say when you're pulling out all this like elementary school? It's like a fun day at the park, but this is not seem romantic I mean we're both like creative people and so he laughed and blew a few bubbles And so I thought that maybe they'd be good activities to keep the Hands distracted but allow conversations to flow and so I don't know. I thought it was a good idea

24:01Okay, we have red balloons two and three This is not that bad. We're joking around as long as you were happy and he was happy So what happened next? The part that was more like the movie up um We walked around the park We like found this perfect spot where there was like a clearing We laid down this old blanket and we just Looked up at the clouds. We like talked and shared our dreams We're either of you drunk Yeah, at anybody been drinking at this point That's no no drinking surprisingly it was so natural and that's what I meant by something just seemed very comfortable and Okay, that's great We are so jaded we're giving you a hard time about it, but it sounds okay So far was there any was there any like low moments during the day or anything that has you worried? There was one I think really small moment that is the only thing I can think of okay

25:02What happened? So this sweet little golden dude all ran out There's a dog I mean it's a park. I guess there would be dogs. Yeah, okay. Yeah. Why is that a low moment? Yeah, well the owner walked up and I started asking questions about his puppy because I thought it was so cute And now that I'm thinking back on it Maybe Andy could have thought something else was going on I'm like oh like you were hitting on the golden doodles dad It made I mean the owner was an attractive guy And I was asking a lot of questions. It was genuine interest about just dogs Square They actually would have included that in the movie up if the woman didn't die at the beginning Okay, the real story Well when I looked back the whole time I thought Andy was like right there But I looked back and he was sitting on the blanket just like glowing bubbles by himself I broke off the conversation very quickly after that I went back to Andy and I apologized and you know was saying

26:05I just really liked dogs, but I don't know it felt like maybe a little awkward That's not a red flag to you, huh or red balloon. Sorry Jeffrey red balloon But overall it was the really really great day, but He stopped responding to my talks. So I'm just trying to figure out what's going on because this has now turned into like The ghost of up and I'm going Okay, yeah, that's what I co-co We've got a lot of red balloons on this first day We're gonna try to pop them and bring us back down to earth get you a second date When we call Andy for you right after this, okay? Um it's like something about her profile we met online But I mean if it's on her profile you would know that before you went out Yeah, right Yeah, well Honor profile is like the last picture she has is like a picture of her feet For some reason I noticed what oh like in the sand on a beach or something Yeah, somewhere and That was really weird today, you know, I saw her in person and Like they weren't her feet What do you mean what the heck? I felt a little Footfish I guess Footfish you got footfished What does that even mean? How did you even see her feet? Well, she had them off where you know, we're Close to She took her shoes off in the park. She took her shoes off, right? Okay

31:15Are you like a feet guy? No, I'm not a feet guy at all like they're fine feet. I just don't I just noticed that they weren't her feet Okay You don't have to be a foot guy to realize it's just like the feet on profile were just completely different feet And I mean, I don't know why you would lie about your feet or it is a little odd that you would highlight it on your profile Everyone's trying to make money off foot picks You think that's what it is? Well, we should call her an ask her if it was a mistake if she even realizes she did it because Call her I bet she'll tell you they weren't her feet. Oh, oh Telling the truth Or we don't even have to because she's actually on the other line already Listening and wanting to talk to you No, no, it's not I just you weren't responding and I just I thought our date was so great We had a great connection and I just wanted answers Okay, well, what's going on with the feet on your profile? 32:17I do So I guess like the first reason is like it weed out the weirdos I think it attracts the way Well, you know very quickly who is gonna be weird and who's not I see if they're commenting specifically on your foot pick. Yeah, that's how you know don't respond I don't like to comment it on just that to me is just like weirdly manipulative No, and it sounds like Andy didn't even react to your foot pick online I like them right so no there's more I promise okay if you read the caption on my picture It says those are like my perfect dream Disney feet like I thought it was like quirky and funny and What does me princesses have perfect feet, but I was trying to like make it a funny joke of Weirdo like I don't have repunzel toes. There's no white angle. Okay. I mean Andy. Did you read the caption of her foot pick?

33:17I mean to be honest with you it wasn't something I really noticed until after like I was just looking at her profile And I mean girls plus a lot of crap. They just don't care about it. It's like No, that's the answer Did you see that caption is she being honest about it like is it still there Sophia could he pull it up and look at it right now It's there It's definitely there and like I was very upfront like these are not my feet these are Like my perfect Disney feet so So she's saying it's a trap to weed out the weirdos and she was honest about it And it does make sense a little bit because we spoke to Sophia earlier and she was mentioning the movie up a lot Oh, she's big into Disney things like that I really resonates with her she said she even told you that you looked like the man from up Which you know you're a Disney adult if you know the old guy's name that yeah, she knew his name was Carl Don't you see that as a compliment Andy

34:18It's me adult freak me out man. I don't know what's going on there No, she said you were hanging That's not what you thought of me Andy We were like laying on a blanket looking up at clouds in the sky and you were pretty upfront with your Disney knowledge Well, okay, I didn't think it was related to feet though at the time That's like Different well if you had a problem with it. I'm not sure why you didn't just bring it up and why you instead chose to ghost me That seems pretty mature. I will say she's coming across pretty sure that was me bringing it up That was me bringing it up ghosting you Just like Carl from up movie He's very passive aggressive grumpy man Yeah, cuz he loves her and that's what we're trying to establish here a love connection Yeah, just wait till she sends you a boob pick like that'll be like

35:21Let what party part you're getting before we start sending erotic photos to each other That we would pay for if you're up for it Andy It's just the Disney thing is just kind of weird and the the the feed thing man You know, I can handle little Disney and like you know, I went along with the conversation, but it's just kind of like Well Andy, I hope that you find somebody who can at least compete with your Pokemon card collection Sick bird. Yeah, I have like old Pokemon cards from when I was like 12 Oh, yeah, there's a lot of money now Kind of jealous of the Um, I guess have a great life Andy. I don't know what else to say. It's really disappointing that you Decided to act that way. I guess if you want to call somebody childish Sure, I'll take over him, but at least I am happy at the end of the day

36:22And I don't burn bridges with people that would have treated me well. So yeah, I guess you could go make your own happy ending Yeah, but then usually that costs extra though Jeff I can say that's officially our first ever footfish that we've had on this show Did we coin the term do we get the credit for it? Oh, I think that guy gets the credit for it He's the one that said it. All right. I mean You can't just steal it. Oh, thanks kind of strange. Yeah. Yeah, yeah Of course the guy doesn't read the captions on women's profile picks because honestly no guy does Yeah, but no, I mean, is she so bad at weeding out the weirdos that she has to put a foot pickup that's not hers I don't know. I just I do kind of respect her strategy to weed out the creepers from her dating profile I think we should post pictures of all of our feet on the broken jeffery into stories to weed out the weird listeners These are never gonna go up for free.
