So, Sal did a sit down with Aaron Boone in Tampa a couple of days ago before they went to Arizona. This was on the Salacada podcast. So I'm going to play a couple for you. You're going to tell me how you think the response goes. This was the introduction to him. Here in Tampa, my first time here, George M. Steinbeer and Field with the skipper of the New York Yankees, Mr. Aaron Boone. Boone, how you doing? I'm doing well. Do you feel extra powerful here? I think you can't. How do you think, Sal responded?
Extra powerful. Do you feel extra powerful, like special being? No, I'm going to give you a chance. Probably you're like, no, absolutely not. I hate it here. I want to be over at the board. I think this is a 100% suck up spot. Boomer, you would be correct. I'm not going to lie. I've never been here before. And there is something about the pinstripes, about the history, whether it's at the stadium, even this stadium is great complex here. You can't help but feel the aura. He did it. Aaron Boone did it. By the way, I mean, he is successfully like infiltrated every show now. He's got like a friend on every show. Who's the friend on this show? Nobody. We're the only ones left. I'll be his friend. You want to be his friend? I'll be his friend. He's going to try to get to you. I like Boone. He's converted like every time. Listen, I like Aaron Boone too. I'm not that against him. But we don't even get coming in here and making us, you know, licked the boots of the ankle. Yeah, exactly. I mean, matter of fact, I mean, I can understand how Sal is going to get caught up in the whole euphoria of being down and George Steinbrunner feel the whole thing.
I get it. But I mean, come on, it was so obvious to me that that's exactly where you were going. He did take his shot, though. I will say it's been a while since, you know, the Angus have been World Champions. That's true. That's fair. So I had to come back. All right. Good for him. It is a long time. So that's tonight you've got Max Fried, Logan Webb, Arthur Starters, Fried last season 19 and five, ERA of 2.86, Webb was 15 and 11 with an ERA of 3.22. Haven't mentioned this at all. Who knows if it's real or not? Did you see the book in a cool story on TMZ Sports? So just, again, these are allegations of woman in LA claiming Nikoa made an anti-Semitic comment and later bit her so hard he broke her skin. Allegations, he says are complete BS. The alleged incident supposedly happened in December. So he will be in. Yeah. He caught Stefan Diggsitis this off season. Crazy, crazy, crazy. It's like a tumble. You didn't hear a thing from this guy.
His first couple of years in the league and then all of a sudden he's just been one after another, after another knucklehead things that have gone on. Very, very strange. No doubt about it. This sounds like that the whole Trevor Bower thing. I think maybe was this like a bite during sex spot? Or that was Bower, yes. But what I'm saying was the cool. I understand what Bower was, basically exonerated from everything except for his reputation was in Tatters. Right. And all he does is YouTube videos now. The story I saw was only three paragraphs that didn't get into detail of the allegations. And he's up for a new contract. I saw it was on a date, the Puka thing. Okay, so it wasn't. It was a New Year's Eve party. All right, so it wasn't like the two of them alone in a bedroom and he was doing wacky stuff. Didn't seem like it. Okay. All right, there you go. Very odd.
Zach Wilson signs with the St. Joe Flacco stays with the Bengals at the ripe old age of 41. We're getting set for St. John's and Duke Friday night. That'll be in Washington DC. That's the early game with Yukon playing Michigan State later in the evening. Here was John Shire. He was on the John Rothstein podcast and getting set to face Rick Patino knows he's got to stay grounded. Coach Patino, he's one of the great coaches. He's done a great job. They have a great team, great program. It's going to be a big time game. And for me, it's about just what do we have to do to win? You know, and just really bringing myself back to that. And not get caught up with the fact that it's Rick Patino that he's facing. You've got to get Caden Boos are ready to deal with incredible amounts of pressure. That's what you got to do. Well, that's where he talks about St. John's going to be very tough to deal with. Yeah, really impressive, right? I mean, you think about their, the defense that they play, they seem like they're really connected, really together. And it's a team that's as high as anybody in the country. He's talked about how much they're going to press them and you have to deal with the pressure as you were talking about. So Jerry, look up at the top monitor there. You know, it was up at bat, Jason Gianbi.
Look at that. One of the greats, one of the WFAN greats. Gianbi, no. Yeah, Gianbi. David Kohn pitching. Yeah, well, I think this is no hitter. Ah, okay. Very cool. How about that? It's just so funny. As far as you say, no hitter, but there are two men on base. I guess it's not then. I don't know. It could be walks, I don't know if he, that was not a perfect game. Maybe this is an opening day. That looks too warm to be that. Who knows? I was going to say, young he looks. Kohn was a perfect game, that I don't know hitter. So this has just got to be some other random game. Good. Welcome to Radio Rental. This is scariest stories you've ever heard in your life. All told by real people. And off we go. This wasn't a human being there, I saw. There's something here in this house, something out of this world. There was a woman moving through the hall. I stepped back and I was completely alone. Radio Rental is available now. Probably a random opening day back in the day. Could be. Andy Pettit snow game a little while ago. Yeah, it's got to be what they're doing. So that makes sense. Nick's beat the Pelicans 1-21-1-16-32 for Jalen Brunson. Here was Mike Brown. It wasn't pretty, but we win. Bunky game. Both teams offensively were really good. Nobody could really get a stop. And you know, Boomer, you've talked about all these teams. They've won seven straight against teams that they should beat. And so their record goes to 48 and 25. And Josh Hart says, Mark of a good team. One game look as opposed to in Aussie. Yeah, anyone in the league can beat you on any given day. But not last night. They did not did the Pelicans who are 25 and 48. So with the seven game winning streak, the Nick's now tied with the Celtics for second in the East. They will play Charlotte tomorrow night. The Nets are at Golden State coming up later tonight. We talked about St. John's and Duke and all that. Well, North Carolina did firehead coach, Ubert Davis. So they are in search of a new coach.
I saw something with Syracuse. I don't know if there's truth to it or not, that Carmelo Anthony is going to be involved with them somehow. And not just as an alum. I don't, again, I don't know what's real and what's not anymore online. Not as a head coach. Jerry McNamara is going to be the head coach, but he might have some part. So you're going to be the general manager? Deal with all the nil money. But it aren't. It's like usually for some, it's a very real job. Is it a figurehead job for some people? No, it's exactly what's his name. Andrew Luck is doing out of Stanford for the football team. Well, he is. He's a GM of the football team and he was able to raise like an excess of $100 million for the football team. Right, but is it like, I know that. But there's a couple of NBA guys that are like acting GMs. And it's really just a figurehead kind of like this guy. I can't imagine Carmelo Anthony's going to be dealing with agents if he is going to be the GM. Again, I don't know if it was a real poster or not. I saw from two people, you just, you never know anymore. What's AI? What's real and what's fake? So I did think that was interesting.
Providence introduced Bryce Huggins as their Hudge Sin as the new head coach. I will just play the joke one more time because people seem to love it yesterday. If you ever want to question my recruiting abilities, just take a look at my wife, Jordan. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so they've written that off. The points was packed for him, which is as he said, very different to where he was at South Florida. Now the head coach of Providence. You had the Black Hawk speed, the Islanders 4-3. The Devils beat the Star 6-4. I played this earlier one more time because it gives you everything you want for Matt and Shiko. Dump there by Team Amir has a step sliding near side, saying by the Smith-On-Heecher, who has the puck floating to a far side. Oh! Missing the target was Dawson Mercher. Now Meyer scores. Shark side, baby. Shark side, baby. What? Is that right, exactly? Is there ever a good old time? A couple of goals for Jack using that game. That was the Team Amir goal that made it 5-3 and 6-4 was the final.
And you've got the Rangers taking on the Maple Leafs later tonight. All right, moment of the day. There was lots of retirement talk earlier, starting with Lavante David. And it led to this clip and chat. You talk about leaving it all out there. It's when you get into these retirement conversations and these retirement press conferences. So I did go find some. I figured, why not? Yeah. Because when we played this one from Lavante David last time, we were like, ah, what am I supposed to do with this? So this is why we're doing what we're doing now. I'm going to walk, go up. It ain't easy. It ain't easy. But they found a way for me. And you don't understand how to get older until you have kids in your home. And it's like if I said, they made for you. They did, they did for you. So he was super emotional as you can imagine. Is his career comes to a great career. It's a great message to him. It really is. It's just when it's a great one. Of course it is. These are all great messages. And the voice goes off. It's just, it's hard not to laugh. What else you got for us? And at some point, we're going to be there too.
