REDS POSTCAST: The Cincinnati Reds SUFFER 20-0 Blowout, Andrew Abbott Struggles Against Brewers

But by Lockdown Reds and Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day. My name is Tim Daniel, lifelong Reds fan of my second season here at Lockdown covering the Reds. And well, as you can see, I don't have my studio together just yet as I've moved today. But I have my stuff together a little more than the Reds do as I lose 20 to nothing tonight to the Milwaukee Brewers on tonight's show. Y'all saw this was really bad.

1:01And there's no way of saying it was good. So we'll see that hey, if you're in the check and you just let me know how do I sound everything sound okay here. Can you get it? Give me a heads up because I don't have all my equipment yet. So I'm like working with what I got. So if you can just give me a thumbs up if you're in the chat. Let me know I sound okay. I got a big proud that I so because this is a. Let's. Let's. Let's talk some baseball. This is what you'll be talking about. Tonight, this is my Reds lost in the Milwaukee Brewers 20 to nothing. The other night they lost to the walk to the LA Dodgers 14 to one. That means in their last two games. They have lost by combined 34 to one. 34 to one the last two games.

2:04And the one is an LED of the crew solo shot that he had against the Dodgers. This is bad. Obviously, we know this is bad. This is a, you know, this is like. And look, maybe the Brewers are just mad because they lost that series. And since night and last weekend, they want to revenge. They got the revenge. All right. They're incredible. They're so good. And they just always have these games like this, right? And like, I called them to a team that kills you with death by a thousand cuts. And tonight they were like, we're just going to destroy you. We got to this point in this in the series where in the game tonight. Hostly trivia came in the seventh inning. Can we just, can we just talk about that for a second? A position pitcher, a position player pitched in the seventh inning tonight. And it got worse. He developed the second pitch. Did you guys see it? A second pitch tonight.

3:05You kind of had like a little gnarly low in a way. Like a corner strike out there. That was pretty cool to see. But I can't believe like what this is better. You know, and like, look, two very good teams they play back to back. Obviously, as we know, they will then come back to Cincinnati and play the Dodgers. Next weekend. It's really bad. And we're just at this point now in the year. We're like, you know, I was talking to some people tonight during the game. It's kind of just talking about the sense of like the reds need to find a way to, you know, bring up these young guys and just play out the season with these people. Just shut these guys down for the rest of your like the avid's and the ladolos. And even the chase burns and so on and so forth. But it's like, okay, if you do that, who are you bringing up? And that's the part where it gets tricky. Like, yeah, you can probably bring Chase Petty up to make a couple starts. Sure. But other than that. It's not really good. Speaking of not really good tonight.

4:05What happened to Andrew Abbott? Since hindsight is always 2020, let's deliver today's second guest. Here's what I'll say about this before we go further. I often get told by people they're like, Tim, you have a really cool job. I bet you love doing this. And I do. I 100% do. But nights like this. Pretty hard to turn to my God. It's pretty hard to turn to Cameron. But, you know, you take the good with the bad in this job. And I still get to come in here and talk baseball to you guys. I get to be your soundboard. And that's the part that's nice about it. But then we have nice thing where I got to talk about Andrew Abbott where he. I'm sure I forgot nice way to post it. He's stuck. And like, like the whole team's stuck, right? Like it's not even that fact that I'm going to be here. And I'm just like, the fact that it's just like the fact that anything could have gone wrong went wrong. And that's easy to say when you lose 20 to nothing. But Andrew Abbott was legitimately terrible.

5:06And not like, oh, he was just bad. Eight armed runs in two endings, not a single strikeout. Brothers area up to 484. Abbott's last seven outings. He has an 835 era. Now tonight, obviously, doesn't help that. But look, he goes forward needs against Milwaukee last time. And then to start for that in Chicago, he gives up seven or runs in three endings. This is shut him down. What are you playing? What is he pitching for at this point? It's not even the postseason. It's. You know, he's going to be here next year. I don't think teams are going to be dying to be trading for him. I don't know why he's going out there getting starts. And maybe it's just effective, like not enough bodies. But this is the reds we're talking about here. There's a guy who like always scraped the bottom of the barrel to bring guys out to get some outings. Remember Chris Paddock was on the reds this year. You think he's busy somewhere? I don't know. I think Scott Barlow got the F.A.D.

6:08This has been pretty bad here. And it's been really frustrating. And at this point, you know, like candy man said that Don says here, who we pull him for in the playoffs. That sums up being a Cincinnati baseball fan in that show of well, didn't work out for us this year. What can we do next? Who we pull for next time? And that sucks. It really sucks because this is the Cincinnati Reds we're talking about here. This isn't the Miami, Marlins who look I know have two world series. More recent in the Reds have their last one. This isn't the Minnesota twins who are also like a mid market team who have had some success. It's damn Cincinnati Reds. It's one of the most prestigious organizations in baseball history. It's the machine. It's Ted Kluziski. It's Frank Robinson. It's, you know, Barry Larkin. It's all these amazing. What can graffiti junior Joey Vato.

7:08And this is what we had the show for it. You get incredibly gifted talented players every so often. And some of them you've been lucky enough to keep. You know, you got to keep Joey Vato for 12 years. Well, 19 years technically. You're not going to be able to keep all the data. It's likely you've wasted your four years you have with him so far. You have two years to get it right with him. And I'm going to be honest, we've got 70 people in the chat tonight. I bet you if you ask all send 70 of us. Not a single one of us are confident they're going to get it right. How dare you not admit you know, you're right. Bronson Royal, former All Star, pitched in two postseason games for the Reds. Bronson Royal's part of good teams Johnny Quato's part of good teams. They're on good teams together. Homer Bailey's part of good teams and I know how that ended. But we're just at this point now.

8:12Or I don't know what the rest can do. You got to incredibly gifted players with top of your order. Sal Ellie. You've seen some glimpses from guys like Hector Rodriguez that you should have you optimistic. Tyler Steven's obviously had some really. Really decent days as well. Where he's kind of really turned a season around, but. We're. We're just at this point now where I don't know what you can do. But we're going to talk more about this because. I'm going to read the box score and we're going to go through everything put a score by score. It's going to be fun. But before we do that, I got to say a big thank you to our friends, Homer at Amazon for this quick break. It feels like there's a life lesson in there somewhere. I'm still trying to figure it out though. When your kids definition of need for back to school shopping is a lot different than your definition of need. Somehow the list keeps getting longer every time they look at it. Explaining the need versus one can under this time of year has become an annual part of the process. When teachers supply list arise and somehow every item feels completely reasonable at its own, then you add everything together and realize just how much the one kid needs for one school year. So remember with Amazon's low back to school prices, just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them. Shop back the school to Amazon and spend less on your kids. No homeers. Three walks. He's got a three seventy nine on base. That'll play. I mean, I think you need at some point. It was going to kind of slow down. Let's. Let's just go. Because this is.

11:23Wolf. It's bad enough watching it when you go back and look at it. All right, bottom of the first. William Contrary is good to sec fly. Andrew Von gets a double makes it to nothing. Bottom of the second. Jackson Turya. It's a ground roll double. It makes it three nothing. Garrett. But then Bryce Turing hits a three run shot to make it six nothing. You would think six to nothing was bad enough. Jake Bowers and hits a homeer to make it eight nothing. We're not out of the third inning yet here people. Jake Bowers is the single that brings in Bryce Turing on an error by Carlos Jorge. It's nine nothing. Jackson Turyo has a single ten nothing. Bryce Turing has a double eleven nothing. You guys get where I'm going to get out here. There's still seven more scoring opportunities I haven't had to talk about. Contrary risk. Garrett Mitchell hits a grand slam. William Contrary. It's a homeer off of Jose Trevino. This isn't even a team that hits homeers. You know what I mean? Like this is a team that like they just kind of like I said there the death by a thousand cuts team and tonight they teed off.

12:30Andrew Abbott and crew were better off just like walking up putting on a tee running back to the mound and just seeing what happens. That's what happened tonight. Jason says I expect to see Trevino make his eighth pitching appearance tomorrow. Yeah, I saw a pop up in the chat earlier so Trevino has made more pitching appearances this year than a hundred green dead. But I'm telling you everything you know about where the Cincinnati Reds are at this point. And you know James says here yeah they did one two out of the last three last week against Milwaukee. And that was fun. It gave me this like little slumber of hope we were going to have a lot of fun the rest of the season right. And then the rest of the season happened they lose this three games against the Dodgers. One of them they're really competitive in the other. Ellie looked really good and they also poured chase burns out of three endings and 45 pitches when he was dealing. Sure. And then now we get to hear and also don't worry because we're all we're only going to play those team the play Dodgers again when they come back since daddy Jason says I'm just mad Tim pretty mad Jason I am too.

13:34The benefit I have that you guys don't as I have a microphone to bend my frustrations and I think everyone tonight deserves a microphone to bend their frustrations I absolutely do. This is one of those nights where like I don't think I've literally had a worst night during the postcast. I don't know how I can come here and be optimistic when they lose 20 to nothing. There are nine games under 500 there in last place in the central they said this ownership group they have this front office. I don't know what I'm supposed to say to you guys here. Like you know I do this thing all the time. Or say the beauty thing baseball is like they play tomorrow too and I don't know I just don't know what I can go in here and say so we'll go and close out here. The reds do lose tonight to the bruhers 20 to nothing by the way the brewer to clinch a postseason period tonight the brewers have 20 runs on 23 hits in an air. Your winning pitcher tonight is Dustin May he's seven and nine with a 449 year a and your abit takes a lot of season now six and 11 with a 484 and I kept on you say Jacob Stollings even though Garrett Stollings gets his first save of the year he is in the perfect year a and then whip at 0.64.

14:50And the reds are back at it tomorrow against the brewers at 710 back on regular TV not on Apple. Brady singer takes the help of the reds he is 6 in 13 with a 503 year a. And the brewers have not yet announced to this pitching for them not that it matters but first pitches at 710 so I will be here back tomorrow night. I'm doing to keep saying some things real quick before I get out of here so yes as we know I move I've been moving this week so thank you all being patient through all that. I don't know what technical issues I was having the other night but I miss a 14 to 1 game why can't I've had this technical issues tonight instead when it was way worse but I'll be here for the rest of the season however we get there but thank you all again for being patient through everything thank you for hanging out tonight when you didn't want to talk to the reds tonight I know that I don't blame you but I definitely appreciate it everyone thank you all again I'm Tim Daniel go red legs I'll see you tomorrow.
