About this episode

President Donald Trump signed legislation to end the longest government shutdown in US history, marking the official conclusion to a 43-day impasse that halted food aid to millions of households, canceled thousands of flights and forced federal workers to go unpaid for more than a month.

Trump’s signature means the government can begin to resume normal operations, with federal workers expected back on the job starting Thursday.

Bloomberg Washington Correspondents Joe Mathieu and Kailey Leinz deliver insight and analysis on the latest headlines from the White House and Capitol Hill, including conversations with influential lawmakers and key figures in politics and policy. On this edition, Bloomberg's Tyler Kendall is in for Kailey. Joe and Tyler speak with:

  • Bloomberg Washington Deputy Bureau Chief Laura Davison.
  • Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman of California.
  • Bloomberg Congressional Reporter Steven Dennis and Bloomberg US Treasury Reporter Dan Flatley.
  • Stonecourt Capital Partner Rick Davis and Bellweather Government Affairs CEO Arshi Siddiqui.
