Welcome to the bust open after dark podcast. I'm Jonathan Hood. And on today's show, we have our indie spotlight talking to the game change of wrestling world tag team champions KJ or so and Sam Stackhouse. What's their future like? Let's talk to them now right here on the bust open after dark podcast. This is the busted open podcast. We turn now to the world tag team champions KJ or so and Sam Stackhouse. The champs are with us here on Series six, Sam Channel 156. Gentlemen, we appreciate the time. Thanks for coming on the show. Thank you for having us. Yeah, thanks for having us. Absolutely. Sam, how's life for you right now? I was great. I'm tag team champion of the world. What do you mean? Doesn't get much better. Hey man, hey, KJ, everybody can't say their champion. That's why I got to ask the question, man. People got a job that I don't want to go to a wife. They don't want to deal with the dog that keeps biting them. But you have to tell us what it's like to be on the top of the mountain. It's been a long time coming. Jonathan, it's been a long time coming.
We have been grinding for years in GCW me under a whole different iteration. But now after me and him finally got back together to Sam Stackhouse, started listening to me and following my lead, we have achieved victory. We have climbed to the top of the mountain in the GCW tag team division. And we are champions indeed. But Sam, I actually for both of you guys, but Sam first, I mean, you guys were bitter enemies and some of the most violent matches that we've seen in GCW. Why is it the right time to line yourself with KJ? Listen, I just, I saw the light, you know, I figured I tried to kill him. And he tried to kill me and we couldn't kill each other. So I figured we just don't kill everybody else together now. That's the KJ same thing, right? Absolutely. So here's the deal. I never hated Sam Stackhouse. I just could no longer surround myself with a losing mentality. Sometimes they say you are a product of the five people you surround yourself with the most.
And I tried to bring Sam up to my level and for better for worse, for a long time, he was a little bit stubborn. He was a little bit lazy. He decided to go a different route. And luckily for him, he saw the light. He understood he up to his game. He's already been dropping weight left and right. He he balled in to the mindset of the silver tungsten vaunt and look at where it's got us now. Sam, you had buckets of blood you had to deal with in order to see the light. Do you see the light now? Because there's a lot of blood you had to deal with to see that light. This is pretty bright light. It's pretty bright light. Yeah. I can see it. It's safe to say I see it. It's safe to say I see it. Glistening on these championships, baby. KJ, talk to us about the growth of game changer wrestling. You guys are traveling all over the country, making all these dates. So what would you say from last year to where we are right now, the growth of the company?
I think the importance of surviving in the constant roller coaster ride of independent wrestling is being able to evolve with the times, right? GCW game change wrestling is by far the biggest independent organization when it comes to running events in different areas. We run three to four times a month in the new state every single week. We just this past May, we're in France and Italy, both. GCW, just with the sheer amount of dates that we're putting on each and every week, you have to be able to grow. Guys are getting just signed left and right. And so finding hot young hungry talent towards the step up to make the name for themselves, keeping your finger on the post of what's hot right now and independent wrestling is what game change wrestling does best. Giving young guys an opportunity in ring to showcase not only their skills, but what the future of pro wrestling looks like. You give us, you see so many clips online, go viral from GCWs,
this just the, the goal of a death match, but we are putting on great lucha matches where you bring in the top unknown talents from Mexico that you may be never heard of that are doing athletic maneuvers all from across the world to bring the new looks like that old school ECW feel that you're getting from GCW where the variety and the diversity shines through. And that's what I love about game change wrestling so we constantly evolve with the times and bring in new talent that are ready to kill it on a weekly basis. Sam, you see that as well right the growth of the company what was it like when you first came in and where it is now. I mean it's insane because I came in right around the time that Cardona came in and it was kind of just the big big old boom so it was it was kind of like I came in and the rocket was strapped to it so it's been crazy since the crowds have been crazy. I've wrestled in front of some of the biggest crowds I've ever wrestled in front of in my life and seen some some of it like he was saying some of the best matches some of the best wrestling in the world happens the game to wrestle.
And we're talking to the game changer wrestling world tag team champions KJ or so in Sam Stackhouse bust open after dark with Jonathan Hood on Series 6M channel 156 on the Series 6M app okay so KJ don't think I don't see what's in the background there I mean anyone can see. Clearly that River City wrestling and that 3x w championship and that Texas State title I could see it like we all know what it is I know that the spotlight on on game changer but I can see those championships what what is that like I mean you're you're traveling to all these different places what's that like at the airport you good. I mean I have a TSA guys looking at me crazy sometimes you know that that that bad goes through the machine and they look up immediately like where's the champ. They want to see the champ it's a good feeling to have I just I'm I'm have such a grinding mindset if I want to be the best and to be the best you have to be everywhere and doing as much as possible and when you travel to all these companies and put on the quality of entertainment that I put out you're going to just collect gold left and right and so that's what I'm doing.
Now let me just tell you Sam and I'm not going to call out the name but there was a wrestler and I was a Nashville I'm the traveling the same place he's going in the Nashville and he stopped at TSA and he's got open his bag in front of everybody for the God in everybody opens up the bag boots there like tape you know belts and it's a long explanation for some TSA people like that have you had to deal with that in your career where you had to sit in the explain to TSA I'm a professional wrestler this is my gear. It wasn't my gear but another wrestler by the name of Beastman left his mask in the van so I was going to be the nice guy and bring it back with me and then give it to him next time I saw it and I had to stand there for an hour and a half. At the because they put it in the machine and one side of the mask was a different color when they scanned it than the other one and I guess they thought I was going to blow the plane up or something with a with a mask I was like don't you think I was going to try to do something sketchy I wouldn't meet be a little less than speak you was done that thing because I mean it we had horns and all kinds of stuff on it but yeah. The belt like I just said usually they just want to talk about it.
You're trying to get to the next flight though you're trying to get to the town KJ. Oh yeah. Yes. As you guys don't have time for all that chit chat now like that but they just they wanted to take a picture with the belt. I saw that poor guy Nashville I just felt bad for him. He's trying to get a connecting flight someplace else and he's just like his planes late because TSA wants to be able to spend time with the champ. As part of knowing me knowing me I like I had a long night of the of winning and defending these championships. I've needed to greet it all the fans. I probably didn't get a lot of sleep so I probably stayed in that hotel bed and to the very last minute and I'm really rushing to make this flight. I can't chit chat about being a champ it's a part of the life but I need to get to the next town. I don't have time I just can't we have next conversation continues with the GCW tag team champions in our indie spotlight KJ or so and Sam stackhouse on the bus to open after dark podcast. The fastest growing pro wrestling show on the planet.
I love tag team Rosamma tag team wrestling mark and I've said okay. We've had all these different iterations of give blanket chance give women a chance give African American wrestlers a chance. You know we had this all the time and it's been able to flourish the one thing we have not seen enough of gives tag teams a chance I want to be able to see on a regular basis at some point guys. Tag team war tag team program this at the top of the card where the world champion has to take a back seat or he starts to whatever it is but I want to see. Tag team wrestling in the main event KJ how how how prevalent you think that that can be in the future especially with you to being the main event of shows. You know I think it's a mindset of a company but I think that's the great part about game change the rest of the week on the best matches last and I feel like no matter if that's women's match or an gender match or tag team match.
We are willing to put on the best matches at the end of the night and I think we've had glimpses of it in the past and other bigger promotions you know we had San Luis a Kevin Orange versus the Uso's main event a night one of us many a few years ago that was great to see it proved that not only is it possible but it can. Live up to the height of being a main event and I hope more companies give tag teams is but it's so difficult because we all started singles resters and we have singles dreams really takes guys that love and care about tag team wrestling to make this a reality and luckily for the world right now I'm a tag team connoisseur and me it's that costs our collecting bodies and collecting championships and so we will make sure we're the main event wherever. We go. Sam same thing like I think if your programs hot and there's a rivalry and you got in you and another tag teams working on it for a long time there's no reason why a tag team championship match can't be the main event on a card.
Well that's one of these is a good step towards it I'll tell you that because like he said no matter where we go we put on main event matches so it will be a matter of a top matter time for the top of the card every every show. Do you guys have a personal favorite tag team Sam do you have over the years a tag team like yep I like them. I mean I've always been a hardy boy guy that was Jeff Hardy was my first favorite wrestler so I dropped I mean yeah hardy boys all the way but greatest tag team alive to me. KJ. I mean I've gotten to wrestle that hardy a few times I'd love to mix it up with Jeff as well let's do it me and stackhouse will take on all comers but I love people that push tag team wrestling forward right we just got out of a heated battle with the buster in the brain you know who coincidentally just went on to win the IWTV tag team championship so there's constant tag team stepping up that I would love to go against and there's a lot of things that I'm going to do. I'm going to do a few legendary tag teams that if they're stepping out on the end of the scene game changer wrestling has that open door policy will let anybody come in and challenge the champs and we'll take it to him every single week.
Well you know what KJ I need to step out the way and I'm going to lay out I think that you you have the floor because you know that this channel goes everywhere. I'm at sounds like you and Sam have an open challenge to any tag team that wanted so please go right ahead tell people about you guys and who you want to take on. I am the silver tongue subon and my tag team partner is the heavy weight for Sam stackhouse if you're feeling froggy and you want to jump bring it on over to game changer wrestling hey maybe you don't want to travel far well guess what game changer. Game changer wrestling comes everywhere we'll be in dim for on September 11th will be in Los Angeles on September 12th hey maybe you're out there and boys you hide a hole well guess what in November we're coming there too it doesn't matter where you are we will step up to the challenge and take you down I got 500 pounds giant standing behind me and I feel untouchable so if you want to step to us I will put you down you are.
Down you are listening to a man who has a mouth that was made for microphone and then I was made to squash everybody that steps in front of us so if you think you are tag team expert if you think you have unbreakable chemistry with your partner step to game changer wrestling anytime anywhere I'll put these championships on the line and we will go to war but I promise you this a lot always has a plan and if I don't have a plan. I have a giant standing behind me ready to take. Sam what what else left to say that's what that's what he's here for like he said he talks it up I back it up. Say it again he talks it I back it up that's what we do let's go catch the full three hours of busted open every day of the week at 9 am Eastern on WWE radio on serious XM channel 156.
