Pete Verhoeven's Number 50: Warriors' Short-Lived Tale

The Golden State Warriors have a massive history with over 600 players weighing more than 60 different jersey numbers across 75 years. The team started back in 1946 in the Basketball Association of America the early days before the NBA. Now, there's a cool series diving into every number and the players who rocked them. Today we're talking about number 50, specifically Pete Verhoeven, the third of eight guys who wore it for the Warriors. Verhoeven came from Hanford, California and wrapped up college ball at Fresno State. In the 1981 NBA draft, Portland Trail Blazers grabbed him 85th overall drafts, where huge back then with tons of rounds. He spent his first three pro seasons with Portland, then bounced to the Kansas City Kings, who later became the Sacramento Kings. In 1985, he signed with the Warriors and stuck around until they cut him in 1986.

1:01During that short stint, he only wore number 50. Verhoeven averaged 3.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game with Golden State.
