3:11But my daughter, she killed me about the salt and pepper. I told her like, once you start dying your beard, you're going to keep on dying it. I got friends and teammates. They are here just for men every single time. I've rocked that salt. What a happy. That salt. That would look good. Yeah. I'm still growing this thing out from May and I had a thing with Stu where I was supposed to I was supposed to wear it until the panthers lost their first game. That and Sunday. So now I'm tired. I'm going to say, run. So now I don't know what we're trying to do is we're going to basically say, was it a food? Yeah. This is the test. The test we lose to you guys on Sunday. And I'm like, OK, I got to say this off my face. Yeah. They don't. I'm like, OK, let me figure this out. So let's, let's, before we get into what we think is going to happen on Sunday, let's talk about just very briefly, the number one thing you think went wrong for your team on Sunday. We won't go too much into what happened, listen out there. So you've had a day or two now to sleep on it. What's the one thing you think you saw from Atlanta on Sunday? Did you feel like I don't know if that's correct?

4:14And if you need help, I can help. I don't even know why you asked that question, my good brother in Christ. Like, if you know, I know we all know Cooperity to rush on out of Atlanta and find somewhere else to play because I, I hate bagging on ragging on people individually and personally. It's our personal, but his play made it personal. It was something to wear stockings fans around the world were just like you pay B. John, you pay Drake, you pay a cow pits, you pay a, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, burst run. The office line, you pay all these office of weapons and we can't get a guy to get the ball to them. Cow pits was gone, touchdowns up under through the ball. I'm, and I'm not a quarterback. So I'm not saying it's easy, but you get paid to do it. Yeah, that's your job. Oh, I'm blanked out. I'm blanked out. I was not, you probably got a foot. There he is. All right. I didn't have back passes miles in high school and I would get the ball. I look at my receiver.

5:15I would throw the ball and point at a point B is 510. You know, I can do that. And it felt like at times he couldn't do that. So I apologize. Uh, I never spoke to this young man. I'm sure he's a great person, but to have our third string quarterbacks starting week one after months and months of going back and fourth of his appendix is a two as a two as a panic. It's, it's so very falcon of us and our fans are, are, they're up to here. They're up to, you can't even do the headspace. They're up to way up here. And they just want us to play up to our potential. It's different. We had Desmond Ritter and we kind of know that, you know, it is what it can do, but we had a whole plan to make sure we didn't have a Mark Smertio to Desmond Ritter. Somebody who was just like, all right, we already know our quarterbacks. It's going to be a week spot. We had plans to put somebody in there that can give us a chance to win. Didn't happen. That's why we lost the quarterback. So you think it be any, so a little Cooper, a Cooper came from Dallas. I think he had a flash in the game a couple of years ago and I kind of had his name out

6:18there and he's floating around a little bit. Would you have felt, how did you feel going into the situation before you knew Cooper was going to be the quarterback in terms of two and pennix? Did you feel confident in one of them to be okay for the season? Absolutely and all because we just need them to be above average quarterbacks. We don't need anybody to be paid manning or Tom Brady. We don't need someone to be a Lamar Jackson. We don't need any of that. We need somebody to get the ball to our weapons. Let them do it. I mean, look at B. You can throw a screen pass, let them go. Get Drake the ball, let them go. Coppets show that probo rookie year, probo contract year, you know, hats off to him. He came up big when it mattered. We need somebody to let our weapons do what they do. We only need somebody who can't make good decisions who are uncomfortable, who's shaking, who gets flustered, can't read a deep. And I just feel like he was not prepared because he's not been preparing to be the number one guy. He got, and this is in his defense. He didn't get but a couple days with the starters.

7:19He wasn't thinking that he was going to be the guy. He was like, yeah, I'm going back him up and I'm going to do my thing. But I'm going to watch. I got two quarterbacks ahead of me, but you also have to always be ready to go. I just feel like he knows it wasn't his best effort. The coach though wasn't his best effort. I hope Pennix is strong enough or too strong a play week two because we got some revenge. We have against you guys because y'all didn't treat us right the last couple times we met. So I have this. Maybe Carol not a reaper coming back to it. Bryce likes to see it. It's a job. But matter of fact, Bryce likes to go to Atlanta and play in Atlanta. I think Bryce has a house in Atlanta. It might be a rumor. I don't know. He might have a house somewhere in Atlanta, maybe a condo next to the stadium. Was that district call next to the stadium? Buckhead or Midtown. Whatever that town is, I think he has a condo house that Atlanta gave him.

8:22I think Atlanta, the city of Atlanta gave him a key to a condo there because he was like, they was like, look, man, you, you, you low key on Atlanta right now. What? What? What I say, look, over you. Now, I'm so rush. How much is it on Cooper? How much is it on the offensive coordinator? Right? You got a third string guy going in there. Yeah. Did you see the play calling go hand in hand with the third, third string guy? I would have liked it to be less predictable. I mean, it was so bad. The announcers were able to say that when they're in pistol, they're going to pass with there and under the thing they're going to run. I mean, he called it out a couple of times. And I, and I was, I may be backwards, but whatever, wherever it was, he called it out. And the next couple of plays, I saw, okay, they're in pistol. They're doing this. I'm not going to say that. I mean, it can't be that simple. Maybe it's the quizzes, but it happened multiple times. And for the odds, I didn't play defense, obviously, but as it high school played defense.

9:28And when we had tells like that when the old line man or the quarterback had tells running pass, that's all I needed because play action had me messed up all the time. So if you give me a tell off good NFL should be at a level to where we're not predicting our plays. And so I wasn't excited that our OC was doing things that gave it away so much. But again, I'm not the OC. Maybe this is like, you know, we're setting the game up for something else. I don't know. I just, I felt like we didn't use our third string quarterback in the way you use a third string quarterback that's coming into the game. Which is, which is to my point, you know, if I'm carrying a lot of, right? You know, if I'm, you know, preparing for you guys, I'm telling my guys, do not fall for the bait, right? Because I think week one, you don't know what you got. And then you got your third string quarterback in there. Everything's, everything's telling you do not play it safe.

10:28And it sounds like what you saw and what I believe I saw, I saw you're running back. Beeshjian Robinson, hell of a player. You're going to give him the balls many times as possible, which they did. We had 173 yards of the 238 total yards that y'all have. Great. You can see him. But what blinds me is the two of 12 on third down, which sounds very familiar with the Carolina Panthers. The only difference is that we had explosive plays where we had, you know, some movement, you know, I'm saying on, on those earlier downs. But when you're talking about, you know, the play calling, if I'm the Carolina Panthers, I'm thinking to myself, now the offensive coordinator was in a meeting with the head coach, defensive coordinator, all the assistant coaches, the owner probably came down, Jean probably came down and say, hey, let brother, you got to treat that third string quarterback, like a first string quarterback. Because case in point, you see what happened with Seattle, right?

11:30Yeah. Sam Darnal goes down. Yeah. Backup comes in. They don't skip a beat. I'm right. And that, and as you know, O.V., there is no such thing as a rookie. There's no such thing as a third string. You own the roster, you prepare like a starter, you play like a starter. And that's why you're frustrated because Cooper Rush went in there. They rush Cooper Rush all the way up into Atlanta. And he rushed the play calling. What's the, what's the, I know it's early in the week, but is there any chance that you are, is able to play Sunday? I have not heard anything as of today, Tuesday. I've not heard anything about who actually is starting. I know that both are on the table, you know, Pettics to try to get healthy, to us trying to get healthy. The fans were just like anybody but Cooper and again, sorry Cooper, it just, he could have been, he just said it wasn't a great showing. It's not a great showing when you have your moment and then your underthrowing Kyle

12:35Panture, overthrowing other players, you're not making the right decisions to read. It's predictable, but there, like you mentioned, there are enough situations where the second or third string guy is ready for their moment. Shoot, they go, when you're a Super Bowl, you know, as they're full, but they're ready for their moment and they take advantage of it and they go crazy. We were hoping that would be the case. But he might have a chance to have one more shot at it because Cooper may be lining up right again against you guys and trying to be the one to erase that 40 to zero shellacking. I'll give this last year that I said would never happen, but it happened. So I think I promised you guys that if you're going 12 and 5, I would give you my dog Asher. I'd give it to the Panthers, but my daughter is very upset about that. I don't think I'm going to 12 and 5. After you're lost, I also be like, you have things to fix. We can talk trash all day, but the Panthers ain't like the Panthers I expected. I thought you all be coming off last year and coming. 15:19We lost. End of the day, LZL. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, we lost. We had two separate games going on in our game. We had a basketball game going on and told about the third quarter and then we forgot that we had to keep playing. It was 31-31 and the third quarter. The bears just started running the ball. They broke off two long runs that just separated them out and they put them up two possessions and it forced Caroline to have to start throwing the ball because at that point we were in the fourth quarter and we were down, I think we got down three possessions and didn't they kick a field goal or something like that. We were down like 15, 16, something like that and Bryce had to just start throwing. They were throwing, throwing, throwing, throwing. We got out of our rhythm and we had scoring in. They out scored as 28 to 6 or something like that after we got out of halftime. The way that game started, the bears went all the way down the field, opened and drove. Our defense causes a fumble in the red zone. We go back the other way, scored, touched down in three place.

16:20We were flopping and going back and forth all the way from the first half. I literally thought and I think I texted to this. It feels like the first team to get to 45 or 50 is going to win this game. We went into the tunnel for halftime. That's what was going on. They're going back and forth. This is what hurt us, Desmond. We're a defense that, again, as you know, OV, it's week one. So you have to have goal fish memory as a fan. Oh, that's what you all have. As a player. Because week one doesn't necessarily tell you exactly who you are. Right? One thing that we can lean on is the things that are structurally wrong. Runfits, the gaps, missed tackles. Those things are correctable, especially like the runfits and gaps and all that. Now the thing that kind of ticked me off, as I went back and watched the all-22, right? You know you're playing Caleb Williams. And this is the reason why I have hoped for this weekend. I'll get to it later. But we're playing Caleb Williams.

17:22This is Patrick Mahomes, but more athletic, right? Yeah, yeah, he really is. So we pressure this guy, come up the middle and the edges. We lost contained from youth football, to middle school, to high school, to college, to the pros. You are taught and you're you you hear it in practice. You hear in the games. Contain the edge. Don't let them get outside like that. You hear that all day, every day. Those are fundamentals, right? Simultaneous. The most things can be explained and they can be fixed, right? And that goes for the deep defensive backs coming in run support. That goes for the linebackers that have outside contained. That comes from the pass rush with the defensive edge, what defensive end, whatever stunts that run, whoever has that edge responsibility, you got to make sure you fix it. You have to be there. That's how we got beat in my mind.

18:23Run fits, not not containing the edge. And as you look at what that Atlanta Falcons do, right? Yeah. Yeah. You're going to continue to feed Bijon Robinson all day. All day. What's up, worry about? Bijon eight because Pittsburgh basically said, hey, we going to play back and we're not going to let y'all hit us over the top. And you got a third string quarterback that ain't going to be able to do it. You know what I'm saying? And so we're going to let you do everything in front, which is reason why Bijon eight. Now, in my mind, that's why I'm telling you do not fall asleep if you're Carolina because if you let Bijon get the rock, he can do damage. Yeah, we already know you can run down the back of the Carolina defense if, you know, if you really want to. I mean, that's really been, that's been the thing since the Jiro's been here. Really? Like, I saw some people go on after the game.

19:25Like, you know, let's give it a month. Let's give it a month with a Jiro. And a my mind, I'm like, we've given him 36 months. Like, what are we waiting on? We need to know like if this is, if this is personnel or if this is skiing because the numbers don't lie, you know, and I'm looking at the numbers and I ran through this at the end of our recap on Sunday, our library cap. His numbers are just since he became the defensive coordinator, OV. We are 23rd and total defense were 31st and yards allowed. 21st and yards per play, 30 different red zone defense, 30th and success rate. Wow. Last three years, like, and some of that people like, well, you had injuries and this now, whatever. The first year he was here, we, Brian Burns was here, Frankie Luhu was here. We had a, we had a safety we lost to stew that year in the off season. I can't remember who it was now. We had dudes. We had dudes. We had dudes on defense. And then, yes, they had a year with Derek Brown got hurt like week one week two and we didn't have him the whole year.

20:26And that was the worst statistical defense of year, like in NFL history or something like that. You don't own him. It's your A for us, the defensive coordinator. And then you get this game where we've never allowed 59 points in a game before. And that last touchdown was almost like the defense just went through their hands up at the end. I didn't. Can't stop it. Can't stop it. There was nothing they could do to stop it at a certain point. And it was all run game, like it was all the run game, the passing game. It almost feels like stills could ask you this. It's your defense feels like it's designed to stop the pass. And it's just like we're okay giving up the run as long as we don't give up the big pass. And then we've always got like six people in the secondary one or two long backers out there and kind of a three, four weird kind of front. It's not exactly exactly five. It's like sometimes two, five. Yeah, it's he moves it around a little bit. He tries to make sure that sometimes and he'll keep one or two long backers out there. And I do like the long backers we brought in. We spent over $100 million on this defense basically and free agency and everything else.

21:26So it's not supposed to look like that. No, that's why I'm not saying. Because we saw it all. We were like Devin Lloyd and Jaylen Phillips and you gave you paid Trevor Moring and he brought it all these guys and you drafted and Lee Hunter and all these dudes you drafted and they played well up until the third quarter. And then it was almost like it got too hot or something and they just stopped tackling. Like it's so basic. They just I got and and and Jonathan can speak to this. But I feel like your first game is going to be so messy because they're not hitting like they used to hit there. It's no two of days. The preseason is not how we used to do it where you're playing for game and the starters are playing a whole lot more than starters are playing now. So my first game you're used to the contact or use to the speed you're used to the collisions you used to the physicality. And I think that's going to be one of the key reasons that we have a chance against you guys because I love our offensive line. I love the new offensive line coach. I love how we've made it more physical and we're even saying be sure you're going to run

22:28outside even though we might do a little more of that with the contained issue y'all showed. But these are running more between the tackles and I feel like with our physicality it gives us a chance. But I don't know if y'all going to go fool they can't throw third string quarterback was not good last game. Let's load the box. Let's make them beat us with the air force us to beat you guys through the air because y'all do that. Then things change. But if you play as how you usually play us, B-Jahn might be all we need to win because that 40 zero. 18 in the box. That's my fear. That's one of your box. I fear that we're going to play you exactly like that. We're not going to change anything like we're going to play you exactly the way you play and they're going to change. They're going to change. They're going to change. They need to change. Yeah. Throw that voodoo on us. I'm hoping that you ever got called up into David Tepper's office up at the top. And the principal's off. Yeah. I've been bashing for you and everything and I paid you money and everything else. Make them tackle or something in practice this week and get them ready for Sunday so

23:31we don't have to have this conversation again. Next Sunday where it's going to be a little worse and a little bit more. The Dave Canallus comments about the defense yesterday and day before it reminded me of about a week or two before he benched Bryson. The way he was talking to the press conferences because he wasn't smiling. He's not Mr. Positive. You know how Dave can analysis. He'll find something positive and everything during that little stretch right before they benched Bryson was it last year? Yeah. You're before. No. You're before when Andy. No. It was last year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He benched with Andy. Andy always want Andy got put back out because he got that little car accident. Remember? And that's how Bryson got put back in and then Bryson kind of took off. He's sitting on the bench for about two or three weeks and before that Dave can analysis the podium whenever he was getting because Bryson's playing awful. Like we all it come through. Yeah. I saw it. It was great. Yeah. We were just like, man, what was he going to take him out and Dave started answering questions like this, the way he started answering questions about Ejiro and the defense.

24:33And I have to assume he's been seeing this for, you know, he didn't hire Ejiro. He inherited him. Like he's the one carry over from the Frank Wright regime that Dave Teppard didn't want to fire. He didn't actually hire this man. This man was sitting building when he got here. So there's never been a symbiotic kind of, I know they know each other, but he, it wasn't his guy. We didn't just have James Pearson, Jaylen, some great talent. That was a big part of it, but Obrick was a wizard getting five, six guys to move around and to press and we had, well, like, in 28th, 29th, 30th, we won the worst teams in sex to be number two. I'm not the best year we've ever had. We need to find a way to recreate that because your little guy, your guy Bryce, he's a shift in a lot of reapers. What you mean? Yeah, you're a little guy. Yeah, it's cute. He tries so hard. He's a little edge that could. He's everyone's Rudy. I make jokes, but he comes here and 40 to zero.

26:40I can't joke. So I'm trying to make myself feel better, but I need to get him on the ground. We need to get him on the ground. Defense is to pick up. Quarantite, ladies and crew. He went, Roddy White was doing his thing, Julio was doing a thing. Michael Jenkins came like a strong number two. And was always reliable. Always ran a great route. Always been consistent to him. Muhammad's new. Any of those guys, but you know, Drake's going to go off, but I need Johan Dotson to show us like why he's here. He'll just be a guy. People forget about or do great on special teams like let's show up. So that's a guy. People don't talk about it as much that I'm hoping if he has a big game, we win because

28:42Second Home. What's your key to Victory here? I've got one. It's basically the same as it was last week, but I want to hear yours. What's the key to Victory for these Panthers for this Sunday? Well, first of all, the key's one of the keys is to make sure that we, you know, the comment that Caleb Williams had with Ken Cannellas at the handshake after the game. Oh, yeah. Y'all are a great defense, man. Cool. I mean, that's the cool sarcasm behind that. There is a little bit, you know, it's funny. But I think you think Cannellas recognized what was happening as it was happening, or he had a walk off. Maybe after he walked off, he was like, playing it in minutes. He just, that's that boy right there. He's like, little jokes there, huh? Well, we got to make sure that the Atlanta Falcons understand that the joke will be on them if they expect for us to be able to put, for us to put that type of performance out in the field from the defense. Obviously, the key is to Victory. This week is, you got to play defense.

29:45And you got to make the, Atlanta Falcons one dimensional. And what we did last week against the Bears, where there was a lot of, there was a lot of moments where I was like, man, that was really good. But then there was a lot of moments. There was really bad. So when you're playing the, you know, the Atlanta Falcons, you know, you turn on the Pittsburgh Steelers film, what they did was they made Atlanta one dimensional. The quarterback is a third string guy. If he's the quarterback this weekend, Cooper Rush, you bet, you best believe, Carolina. You just had probably the hardest test as far as chasing a quarterback that you had. And since last year when you played him, right? Oh, no, Patrick Mahomes, right? And you have to get to the quarterback. You have to make sure you're squeezing. Our linebackers have to get into those passing lanes. But more importantly, make them one dimensional. But then you got to make sure,

30:45once you make them one dimensional, meaning they become a run, a run, you know, run defense or run, run offense, I guess. B. Jean becomes your whole offense. You know what I'm saying? Then you can basically say, okay, get our safety in the box, right? Load the box because that's what they're gonna wanna do. And when I say load the box, don't let him just sit back there and over the ball, OTB and catch check downs. Our linebackers have to be all over that. Get a safety when you go to Nickel package, get a nickel on them. Because what you don't wanna do is make this the B. Jean show because what we just shown this past weekend against Chicago Bears is that 291 yards Russian, B. Jean Robinson is watching that film and saying, oh, I can't wait to play the caravan of Panthers. Look at this thing, he's getting ready. Just getting ready to go. And Maun's the same as it was last week. And it might be the theme for the whole year, especially after the defense of showing in the second half. Stop them run, run the ball.

31:47We need to stop them run. My goal, we need to have less than 100 yards rushing from every team that we see. And I wanna see, especially it'd be a feat if we can do that with B. Jean and the Falcons because you know they're gonna lean on him heavy with Cooper Rush being in there in the quarterback. If he is the quarterback, even if two is in there, the problem's still lean on B. Jean very heavily after watching our tape from this past Sunday. So less than 100 yards rushing allowed for the Panthers defense, which also get the public off of the Panthers defense is back. They come back week two and be like, we held B. Jean Roberts in the 70 yards or whatever. Good. Run the ball. We need 150 yards rushing on the ground. I think our leading rusher, I think was Chuba with like 49 yards or something like that on the day. Like that's not good enough. Like between Chuba and Jonathan Brooks, and a little bit of right-shown. Like we need to get to around 150, in my opinion. We're at 150, we're controlling the chains, we're controlling the clock, we're keeping it, Lanna's off and it's off the field and we're getting their defense tired because we're just running the ball. Like the Bears did us. As the Bears had 39 carriers, we had 22 carriers if you take those 22 carriers and get to 30,

32:48that means we're doing something right. That means we're on schedule. And I look at B. Jean, you know, he had 173 total yards and of the 238, they depended on B. Jean throughout that whole half of their offense. Yes. And I feel like, you know, if we aren't capable of stopping him, we should be running the ball. 35 times, right? Yeah. That's the mint, that's, because I'm thinking of myself, they went through a phase of two and 12, two out of 12 on third and third downs. We have to make sure that we are not in that same phase, right? We can't be, you know, in third down situations and three and out, right? Because again, this is a defense that is pretty good. They held tight with Pittsburgh. They held Pittsburgh to 20 yards and 264 yards, 20 points and 264 yards. So what we can't do is turn the ball over.

33:48We have to play fundamentally sound. But most importantly, we have to run the rock. I love that, you know, keto victory because that's part of the DNA. That's part of the structure. You look at last week, we ran the ball and then we went and played action. And that's where Rayba found our explosive plays. So if you can hit him with the explosive plays, it takes to win out of the serves, the win out of their cells early. Especially on a home game or a way game in Atlanta, I called it home because it felt like home. Yeah, feeling like home last couple of couple of months. For like, years. I'll add on that, too, to end it here for the day that to Brad Issac and Dave Canales don't let off the gas on what you were doing on offense on Sunday. That looked like we wanted it to look like on Sunday. Like I really have no bad things to say other than some penalties here in the air, some tiki-tax stuff, but for the most part, offense looked exactly the way I imagined it in my head in terms of y'all even came out with like two tight end personnel. Like all the stuff I said I wanted them to do,

34:50because like you got four tight ends, you got waller out here and Tommy Trimble and I always feel, get them out there at the same time. You know, put them out there at the same time and work some stuff and they did. Dianne Waller looked pretty good for his first game as a panther. He did start. People were asking if he was going to start that game. He did. They had an impact early. I think he's going to get better as the season goes along. Let Bryce get used to these tight ends. And the connection with him and Jalen Coker, it looks like something they've been working on all summer. I look natural. So lean into that. You scored 37 points against a pretty good Chicago Bears defense. You scored 37. You were 31, 31 and the third quarter. Throw away, like you said, goal fish mentality earlier in the show with OV. Throw that away. If offense are not the bears, and that's the bear, not the bears. So like let's, let's do like Caleb. The offense are not worse than two Jalen Robinson. Species. They're not even the same like player. Like we can, we can do everybody calm down, relax. And like this point next week, we'll be talking about how, remember how we all wanted to fire a year or even a week one? Look what just happened week two.

35:50Shut out. Blah blah blah. 100 yards. Yeah. Things can turn around so fast in the NFL. And that's the reason why it's king. Because you never know every week, it can change. A team can have a bad day. You pick a bad day to have a bad day. That can turn your whole season around. Right. And you know, so, you know, offense, you know, defense has to contain, they have to contain before they cover. That's my mindset, especially against Atlanta. Stay aggressive. You take the back out of space, you know what I'm saying? Take that space away from him. You got to shrink his space to work with what he has to work with. And then like you said, run the ball, 28 plus times, you know, last week we had 5.7 yards of care. That's pretty dog on good. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. We got to take the positives out of this and recognize what we have and go from there now. Again, we are keeping an eye on everything on Sunday too. We're going to watch everything like make sure that what we saw on Sunday
