This is a podcast from Rover The Morning Rumble podcast Mel is single and roach has shingles So good yesterday New Zealand golf open is on at the moments in Millbrook and Queenstown They have the pro-an and the world's greatest surfer 11 times world champ Kelly Slater So he was the youngest ever champ as well miles at 20. Yeah, I'm back in the day. Yeah, so this guy's been around Most decorated surfer. Most yeah, absolutely. Yeah, Mel. He's he's older than me even He's what he's he's he's he's older than me. Oh, can I say much much better He looks fantastic, isn't he? I know you're right. You're looking at him. You guys should have got maybe Yeah, you're right. Yeah, maybe I should have got outside a bit more Yeah, you need lots Me quite a bit To be fair, he is one of the goats of of our era roger like 90s was tiger

It was Jordan. It was Kelly Slater like just in the midst of these amazing athletes who remain undefeated like even Tony Hawk Yeah, like he I think he has the only ever three-time heat score of 20 and 20 Like within with when he's competing. It means it's like perfectional perfection. Oh, like he did that three times It's incredibly hard to do. He's not human as he. Yeah. Well, no, he's not because he can he's also he's a scratch golfer Yeah, which is why he's in question The New Zealand golf open and we got him yesterday If you want to hear the whole chat text in the word Kelly to 3520 nice. It's Mel here now I was mean to give surfing to go this summer and I I check him out which is more Challenging to learn golf or surfing Oh, I mean, I don't think there's a person in either sport that ever says that they can't get better I'm not sure. It's a big learning curve For both sports But there's sort of opposites right there. That's why I think that's why maybe I like it The balls just sitting there doing nothing taunting you

By doing nothing and then you know When you're surfing waves are taunting you by just Avoiding you or whatever, you know, you got to figure out in the ocean. It's all patterns, you know Humans are into pattern recognition and uh, you know different swells and waves and locations That's all about figuring out the patterns once you have your skill level there, but um You were supposed to go surfing last summer, but you didn't what what why didn't you go what what's that there's no like planning You just like grab a boring girl. Just waiting for you out in Kelly. I think she's waiting for you Arrive hearing me from surf lessons. I actually went up near a river where we're rog live's and there was a sewage spills Yeah, I promise I will give it a go. Are you blaming him? That wasn't the swell There's a few places we've got sewage in our ocean and quite a few places Kelly say to with us just before you go mate. We've really appreciated your time I mean you're an absolute legend so many of our listeners in New Zealanders love you mate

So so great to have you on the country the New Zealand Gulf open though. How good that you're playing it Can you put in a good word that I can play it next year? I too love golf and I too am I just want to be there man. Can you get me there? I mean you just threw your hand up. I think they heard you there you go I don't know. Hey, it's my first time. So so I don't know how much pull I got yet, you know give me a few years I've got a lot you're playing mobile. I gotta tell you there's a story I just kind of like I gotta risk tell the story I heard yesterday a guy named Michael Hill who passed away last year Yeah, I don't know his handicap, but apparently he was gunning it at that age to break a hundred The last round of golf he ever played he shot in 99 and made a hole in one on the last hole he ever played in his life Amazing. I just don't think this will ever be repeated. That's a nice story. What a way Yeah, so they were honoring him yesterday here With his widow and they had a special flag in the 18th hole and stuff But what a story they said he hit this perfect five wood right on the stick and it fell in the hole is the last hole

Man, that's so cool. What a dream. Why would you want to play for that? How do you just for you go? How are you gonna go Millbrook? Obviously great course. I've only had one practice round at one of the courses yesterday They were markables course. I was gonna play the corner at this morning But I've got my girlfriend and my my 19-month-old here and if I did that they wouldn't see me to off to dark because I got a We're doing a I'm working with that board of tourism to do a few things and this afternoon We're doing the helicopter ride to five different courses to play six different holes and film it and all that so It's pretty exciting afternoon for me for the golf from my golf world sounds like it should have to know I mean we feel for you And I'd rather be stuck rather be in the studio Enjoy your stay. It's so great to have you here I really love New Zealand. I mean, and I'm not I'm not just saying that I really really love it here. It's um It feels like I love Australia

But this feels like a throwback to when there were fewer people in Australia and just around every corner is just beautiful people are super nice and I'm just I've actually thrown it out there that to my girlfriend and other friends that you know I could definitely live here and consider that sometime. So Thank you guys everybody's been great New Zealand and I love coming down here. Thank you And thanks so much for your time. Go well. You hear the whole interview we did with Kelly Slater The goat of surfing 11 times world champ text and Kelly 3520 to hear that one there. We're going to come back next. What the hell is going on here? Wow great I just feel like I can do it that rules really don't apply. I feel like I can do whatever I like around here Is that much respect for me? The Morning Rumble podcast Before it was it was in the States Are you hitting a house have a listen? Why is it? No, it's not that one my apologies. Oh jeez

That's that that's actually a car driving backwards down the motorway. Oh, okay Putting in with the car. So you really it's not that um fake taxi one you go watching Why is it? You don't think it is This one There's some wild video to show you a truck flies a hundred feet through the air and slams into a house Oh Wow, right this happened in Tigard now the family who lives in that home was asleep when this happened But they were they were woken right up Luckily nobody was heard that truck was recklessly driving through an intersection hit a dirt mount It was launched more than a hundred feet clearing a brick wall before landing inside the home And you can take a look at the the damage left behind that driver is now behind bars charged with reckless driving The family is displaced for now Create shoes also a way today has set up a bounce back. He did this yesterday. So he's He's on to it

Oh, we'll get to that Texan crash 3520 to see this you to this truck hitting a house We did want to know what is hit your house We did this yesterday as well so many ticks going through like Scotty had a call as well Short and sweet one for you Moby I had a house with a house That's got He saw you go How did that happen Scotty? I think we were I want to be really weird It was on the side of a bit of a hill out Up in Auckland there and as we took this house out the bottom part of the left house The one we were moving hit the roof tile of the house below And the owner came out spitting his toys got pretty out of control for a little bit Please helicopter was going around the TV three-tuned So there was a bit of humor a bit of humor laugh it off yeah the house on a truck hitting it another house stationary So many ticks going through miles on this which we get to a few now it yeah

We're brand new ones when I was working at a gas station in NAPI I saw a car in a police chase stolen by a 13-year-old Wipe out go through a fence into a house knock a guy off his bike The guy on the push bike right is fine. He got up and his bike doff is nothing happened He would have been like uh just the bait Don't mind me Another text said I had a stolen car come flying through our fence and slam into the house My partner night the time sleeping a three-year-old had just woken up and we had babies sleeping in the bass in it in our room That is lucky Do you see here that a lot don't you sometimes when you these cars do go through houses And it's like oh you've moved out of the room just in time or something like it's just Or we're just gone to bed. Yeah, we were in the lounge just gone to bed Then there's a car in your lounge And 18-year-old brother says James his brother-in-law got off his got his off-road race car run and decided to take it for a week

Struff around the lawn Well, he hadn't hooked up the brakes yet and now the throttle cable got stuck open So a new door opening was unexpectedly fabricated into the ensuite wall from proved indoor outdoor flow Just lovely thanks James. Yes, James. He's smart again, too. We want to know what hit your house. This truck flying into a house and Oregon in the States Wow Yeah, let's say flying literally flying if you look it's like a faster. Yeah, smell Like a fast and the furious movie literally flying into this house. Luckily no one in there Uh, we wanted to know what hit the house and a lot of trees obviously which I did mention used today You had a tree fact a rog effect didn't you about trees? Well And then I backed it up because when I was living with my Nana a tree actually came through the house and Nana and I slept through it And as I said to you now If a tree falls through a house and we stalked him and you're on the piss

With your Nana doesn't make it sound And it doesn't because he slept right through it And what a shock it was to wake up after a couple of rosé Couple of bottles now not just a couple of glasses. Yeah, yeah, I think yeah I think you'll find I think you'll find the recycling bin made a bit of a racket when it was being wheeled to the curb My dad was horrified. Oh, so what the hell happened You were just so steamed we were so My Nana and I we woke up and my Nana was like yeah, what the hell did you do? Like if it was my fault And they had been a big storm overnight and my parents lived next door And I did it come over knocking and say how did you not ring me and tell me that this was going on? So where was the tree like where the windows broken? There was a window broken. It was mostly over the deck pass. Okay, yeah, branches had come in and don't a broken deck Yeah, I want to break and do nothing with a broken dick. Not on that house There probably was more than one broken

You hit none of this No, I think it was so shocking Okay Another Texas comment from you see on My my mum says the text had a tree to back up rogers facts on her house Right where she was sitting the first responders and insurances if it wasn't for the age of the house And all the internals being made out of good strong native wood. Yeah, she would have been crushed They don't build them like they used to Well, yeah, that could have been you male could have been me and Nana, but we love to tell the tale more text A friend of mine driving a massive truck ran up the Ask of another truck carrying a house And his truck and trailer ended up inside the house on top of the trailer Luckily he lived as from Craig Sitting on the porch watching kids playing soccer and a tornado landed on the corrugated Plastic above me it traveled across the field throwing debris at the kids than the trees throwing up birds It sounded like a train

Coming straight down. Oh, that's incredible. That's that's right. Wow. That's amazing Years ago me and my mates were getting getting on it and one decided he could slide the car into the driveway and did it But straight through the corner of the garage taking out the supporting post in the corner whoopsies some Darren Of course, that's Darren in his mates. Oh, I see you've never trusted Darren. No, or his mate who's like sliding the driveway Such a guy to do that. Yeah, he used my car. Yeah, take my keys Yeah, Mel you'd know some Darren's I know one Darren and he doesn't talk to me anymore That's I think it's beautiful both of you Yeah That's beautiful both you and finally car reckons my mate was trying to hit 50k in his driveway And did about funny enough he couldn't stop smashed into the deck and house in full speed and into the house and just ends Ha, ha, ha, no update is to injuries or anything. So yeah stay safe museum Did you drink a yachty at your twenty-first? I actually did took me 40 minutes

40 minutes The Morning Rumble podcast walk in solidarity. It's a 24-hour challenge to end the coward punch violence In New Zealand and we're with Mike Angover this morning city kickboxing coach former kickboxer world kickboxer as well back in the day Mike Angover joins us Welcome I was just yeah, I was I was just shrinking going on more than just a pugilistic. Fuck you know We're gonna get we can't actually talk about because you've commented it's a big fan switch we can get to Walk in solidarity though 24-hour challenge to end the coward punch violence in New Zealand Which is taking place when I say walk. It's a 24-hour walk starting in Hamilton Saturday in his common Hamilton lake. So Mike you're 24 hours. I understand you're walking around the Hamilton lake for 24 hours Yeah, so starts at 3 p.m. It's coming tomorrow. It's a glorious evening. I said today, so I've been with us all right Yeah, I mean we go to 3 p.m. The next day. It's a great brainchild

The guys called themselves the Katiaki collective. They're all martial artists and business people who have seen the cause And feel very driven towards it. Obviously, you know, the coward punch Has been in prominence recently. Yes, and that's a good thing because yeah, you know We need to to have it firmly in people's minds to cancel the coward punch Exactly that what happens is something gets in the media someone is killed by a coward punch There's an outpouring of grief particularly localized in that community And then there's a bit of a gripe at the pathetic sentence afterwards about the unjust nature of The sentence then we give an example Daniel Haveli killed foe got told by the judge It wasn't the hardest of punches got sentenced to two years nine months including around about 35% discount on the original Senates was out in 11. Yeah, well, I rolled Yeah, and 11 months wild That's the outrage and that's repersonalized and then then you go media silent then it happens

You know Daniel Nanekel and his final and you plummet again and again the same thing happens We complain those people are left with lifelong trauma and then crickets. Yeah, nothing happens I guess two judges can only sentence with a consentence and therefore we get to the point where you guys can make a submission What you have yeah, so exactly that we've just come off the back of a submission But the point being is everything is localized within the community And if we don't pull together as strands and become one rope literally I think to drag the politicians And the judiciary up with what the public want. Yeah It's it's just a headline and that's that's the danger with where we're at which is the reason You know why I was volunteered as tributes I could walk a hundred k Yeah, you know to hopefully walk a hundred k if the if the if the body keeps up Now how is your body? Yeah, you scrapped your wrists are scrapped. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I've had heavy weights bashing me up this morning

But how's your hips? Yeah, yeah, that yeah, well, you know Operation on that and then just July Offer a stroll this weekend Yeah, so we'll be on painkillers, but yeah, and obviously anybody can come long and be part of it and yeah, so There is there is a link if you text the word fear to 3520 will fuck you back the info one of the things that I am doing for this because I want to make it Quite visual officially, and I say officially These are the stories that have made the media and been recognized as card punches. There's been 15 card punch deaths Now the average sentence for those 15 card punch desks is 3.4 years But four of those guys got home detention. Yeah, oh wow for killing someone. Yeah That's why I just let that sink in for a minute Yeah, sorry for my little rant their boys, but what I am doing is every hour

I'm gonna change out my shirt. It'll have the name of one of the victors their age when they died and the sentence Their murderer not got but got away with yeah You won't have anyone listening who doesn't want to see a change in that So we hope that there's obviously positive change with when it comes to that bill being passed and worked on Obviously, everyone appreciates the walk without fear set up that you guys have been doing you can text the word fear to 3520 right now to get that link for that Information of where that's happening in Hamilton this while tomorrow when it happens tomorrow You can get amongst by texting the word fear to 3520 stay there because I just want to ask you a little bit Obviously being a trainer at city kickboxing CkB We won't ever chat to you about the fighters because there's a busy few months coming up Walk in solidarity. It's a 24-hour challenge to end coward punch violence in New Zealand So foe vacay males wasn't he he was a part of city kickboxing and he died in a coward punch He did he did he's he was a former teammate a teammate of Of some of the people you know I love out of CkB. Of course much beloved team member and yeah

Unfortunately, he died because of a coward punch So they're walking tomorrow 24-hour challenge around Hamilton Lake For 24 hours a hundred case at three they start tomorrow afternoon you text and fear 3520 to get the details Mike and go back with us, but how is Israel out of sun? You're looking Mike. There's he's looking great Who's he fighting? When's he fighting next time in the gym this one? He's got Joe Piper Joe Piper is a Big punching big metal weight with the digits who black belt and he's gonna come forward He's gonna bomb and he's dangerous and he's young and he's hungry and he's coming up You know, he's he's actually a dangerous fighter for Israel to be taking on what is essentially a comeback fight There's no upside as an experienced fighter for taking on a young guy who is only just in the rankings Yeah, it's actually it's a tough fight. He needs he needs to be on point You know is he's looking good in the gym. He said he said sustained training program and he's doing well

I mean we've got a lot of top guys in there now. Yeah, he's getting pushed You know when you're younger and you're the biggest goldfish in that pond you probably have your way a little bit more And as the gym has built and Israel has lifted the guys around him. So You know, he's now getting plenty of push and there's a whole bunch of big guys. Obviously fighting In and around that time never host feelings on the same card. Yeah, so he's pushing hard brand-of-perichage The Balkan latest new friend. Oh, you're the old the old koala bear. Yeah He's fighting the week before in London. Yeah, I got small feed a he did say he wasn't nasty But it was pretty funny. It's pretty funny. And I I just nodded in compliance. Absolutely. He's a big he's a big bit of kit You've seen a lot of fighters rise to the top right. Obviously our style been a great example of that And then you've seen like Kai go all the way to the top, you know To fight for the bout and everything like that have the interim now What do you make of Carlos all book as he our next champion and will he be champion this year?

Carlos would be champion this year Wow, really that's so cool. Yeah, no, he's got fight news coming. You can't tell us too much obviously Gee, it would be exciting to have him against Pereira on that White House card. It's a great stylistic fight. Oh mate The two most lethal left hooks in that division, you know that that's a brilliant fight per here is We don't know what per here is doing next Carlos is And has to be next in line. He's looking good left arm in the gym this morning looking sharp Not only is he a beautiful man. He he's a big unit of a man Physically, I was talking with a couple of the other coaches this morning just his progression from kind of corporate boxing to You know a smattering of kickboxing fights to winning king in the ring getting on to an MMA card where we had to stitch around and Count up his number of fights to create that opportunity for him He's just continued to to grind away get better and better. He's got a lot more than just a just a left hook just to warn anyone who's listening

Um, you know Just just in case the Brazilian is a list Um, you know, so he is where where he is today and looks statistically. He's a freak athlete Yeah, not only is he God's gift to women, but his athletic potential is freakish Mal was thought he was coming in and heard that now he's not so she's gone I understand Well, now those words that you just used to describe Castleberg would you ever use those to describe us? Collectively or individual? Well, the God's gift athletically just un-untapped particular everything is bounded by context, right? So if we were on a desert island and they were three you yeah, what and And we're 10 out of 10 yeah lady She would be like describing you. Yeah, it's it's Everything's My game go all the best thanks coming in you could have made eye contact with one of us Good on you make keep up the great work with the walk without fear cancel the car

Bunch is said for there won't be a listener who doesn't want that change and you can text the word fair to three five two zero to find out more Thanks, mate CityCookbox and coach Mike and go families have plots. They buy them. There you got a plot. No, but then you've lost it It's the morning rumble a massive concert announcement that we'll talk about after I but Mal you've got the news on this ad eight o'clock So 50 minutes another one two big bands teaming up for this one They're going to be here later on in the year chance win tickets go on the draw for VIP passes so all that come another eight Don't go anywhere Sean Johnson former warriors legend Kiwi's legend join us Doesn't have as an end-life you want to believe Johnson will score for the more you the Sean Johnson who paints the line We're in Sean Johnson Where's our way? There's a For business Johnson Johnson Johnson Johnson Where's our Johnson? W-W-W-W

Was it some matter? Here he is Yeah Hormel Warrior, Kiwi Sharks, the league lounges back season two, we'll get to that. Sean Johnson. Oh boy, studio. I'm sorry, I forget how good I was. I'm doing this. Can I just say, no, don't ask me anything. Oh, stop. I've done the rounds here and I'm sick of people asking me questions. I'm going to come in hot here because we've just had babygill at number three at home. Baby coop is a month old today and I know the kingpin down the end there is a fire or two dollars big roach. Give me something. How is it? How is it unfold? Well, they never leave home Sean. So I've got 24 year old, 21 year old, the 24's, your old's been back and forth. 21 year old has no, look, I'm looking at it now. Yeah, no way, no intention of moving out of home. And are you happy with that? No. And he's lost his fear for me. He's actually only, he's only mid 40. Can you just give me a quick little glimpse of what, which was the most challenging period?

When they both hit teenage years. Really? Yeah, so I would be told. You're 10 years away. Yeah, I'd be told. I'd be told, because when they're little, like, you know, 19, they're lovely. Yeah. 19, 11. And everyone would tell me, wait till they hit the teenage years. Yeah, wow. And it's, they turn, they turn into two little devils. Devils, okay. Devorous devils. The youngest was the worst, probably nearly ended the marriage. Probably. Not all women are like that, though, short. Yeah, man, I'm sure I wasn't asking you to. Hey, thanks for coming in. Yeah, yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Yeah, good stuff, good, the great interviews. Mate, in our house, she kicks off this week's, how good. Man, it's an exciting time, mate. Yeah. I can't believe we're even back here talking about. It doesn't feel like long ago I sat in this chair, we were getting ready for sort of, like, early stages of last season talking about the show, so. Yeah, Jibok, and then there, which obviously you had a fantastic result getting out around the place. That must have been just all that before we get into you.

Now, our last season, your book, how was that? Because I know I could really sense the pride from you when you'd go to these books onings. Yeah, I've got to make, I've got to make who's a massive league fan chasing. He took his two little boys, and you signed the rule graph, and he was saying the time that you gave each of the lads just meant so much to them. Oh, yeah, that's good. So psyched on the way home, and they were like, Dad, and your big smiles, and you're just like, I loved how he treated the little lads. Yeah, I mean, I guess I've never really, why, I don't think about it from that, and you lose sight of that. But the way I think about it, as well, if they've given up their time, and then one, aren't hard on money to buy the book. And when I'm pulling up to these spots and seeing some of these lines, I'm just going, what is going on? Like, for me, it's just overwhelming, like, it kind of doesn't feel real, to be honest. So that was a really cool experience, really loved it. But I will say this, there's still plenty of copies out there left. So get down to your local box store. I'm not going to do those. I'm not going to do those line ones, and go,

Hey, there's only a limited copies left, get out quick. No, don't run. No, there's still a heap out there. Oh, that's good, man. Hey, League Lounge is amazing. Well done, congratulations. I appreciate it. Monday nights now, and it's live at 730, which is cool. So that immediacy is going to be great. You get a day or two earlier, and you get that live element as well, and you get a whole season of it. Yeah, I've said, I've said just before, like, it's one thing to sort of get the go ahead for season two, like, ain't okay. Well done, you executed season one, we're going to go again. And then the conversation started to happen, like, well, I was pushing for live essentially straight away, but I've always loved the idea of real TV, and I feel like it's the best way to be organic and authentic and connect where you're sitting somewhere and someone's watching that, and they know exactly where you are right there, and then word for word, how it unfolds. I love the idea of that. So to be told that, yet, we're going to go live prime time. Monday night, falling off the back of crowd. It's like, okay, man, like, this is now a thing. You know, this is now a thing that we can hopefully

continue to build and give our, not just our league lovers, but people that are up for a little bit of entertainment mix with, you know, league coverage. It's, that's where we sit. Sean Johnson, our special guest, former warrior and Kiwi's legend NRL, league lounge, Sean Johnson is back since our season two premier's Monday. So this coming Monday, got the crowd goes wild mulls with you. That's a seven and then the league lounge after that bank. Man, what, no pressure on, what an aerobic TV? No pressure on us to deliver a lead in audience for Sean. Oh boy, they'll be counting on that one, Oh, absolutely, absolutely, praise up. Back with Sean Johnson. Just a question with league lounge. Now that you're a broadcaster, a fellow in live, live TV. A fellow in live broadcaster. You know, you would have sat there as a player and when broadcasters would have given their opinions on players and things like that, you would have been like, what would you guys know? Yeah, but now that you're a broadcaster, do you want to just join us as fellow broadcasters and let everyone else know listening, the manner that we hold? I mean, how good we really are.

And the levels that there are to this game, I will say, I didn't quite understand the authority that this side of the line carries, okay? And it is a very special, a special, good to make a call at the moment. It's 100%. And you know what, I will, at some point, probably turn into your cliché broadcaster and just say something so off-cuff. And then I have to slap myself in the mirror and go, Sean, come on mate, get yourself back to why you wanted to step into this space. Because what you've just said there, is like, I take pride in helping our audience understand the game better. I know that I'm not speaking to the coaches of the world that have, you know, I can if I want, but I don't need to do that. There is small portion of the audience. I like to think we're speaking to the audience of just avid league fans that play grassroots footy, knock about that just want to like be entertained.

And that's where I want to live. I feel like you're talking to us as mates. I've gone away from the broadcasts of shit now. I'm going in more seriously. But I feel like you talk to, you know, when we talk as a group of mates about the game on the weekend and we all have our opinions or thoughts as to how things could be done or what happened there or how good was that play. And we have those chats and love having those water cooler chats, like it's like that. But done by someone who's been there. Yeah, and that's, I'm glad you said that. And I'm glad that that's what it feels like. Because I always want to come across like that. I don't need, I don't go to a broadcast school or anything like that, you know, I'm just a spider. Yeah. I'm simply just, I don't have to. I'm simply just being sort of like how I am, how I am when I'm playing the game and how I'm breaking down play and seeing things unfold. It's like, how do I articulate that? So, man, someone gets a buzz out of that. And then, you know, the best bit of feedback I had last year was I explained, I explained how a situation on the field unfolds, okay? And it was around last plays and quick contests and explaining the sequencing that goes into that.

And then, we score a try off of similar sequencing and I'm getting messages going, bro, I saw, I saw Dylan with the tap back and then I saw Kate, well, pick up the crumbs and then we pass it off and we saw, you know, and that's the greatest achievement for me at the moment when I can generally help the general public understand the game and watch it in a little bit more in depth than that means they're more invested, a little bit more thoughtful about what they're going to just jump on the keyboard and type about our players. It's like this big ecosystem of just betterness, I feel. You know, that's what I'm here for. Yeah, you did that. I learned that the high ball and where there's a contestant or just letting them catch it. And then they just keep going up at the field. I was like, oh, yeah, of course they did. Yeah, it made it so simple. Yeah, it was good. Even I would understand it. Now, can we go back to your CV? So you've done leg, you know, broadcaster. We've been looking at back to the beginning our very first jobs. Great revealed that he was a stripper. Yeah. He's stripping for us. Yeah, so now two things.

Can we ask what your first job was and if you've ever striped? Stay there, Sean, we'll be back. Come back. Former warrior legend Sean Johnson. And we're back. I am. Sean Johnson with us. I cannot say part of the Ford League lounge, which is back on Mondays. And yes, Creech, our producer, yes. His first job was a stripper. And he stripped for us yesterday, meld your question. You had two questions, actually. I wanted to know what your very first job was, Sean Johnson and if you've ever striped. You can be honest with us, we're not in a judge. Can I say if you were a stripper, the mighty Johnson. What a, what a name. What a stage name. Yes. Would you even think about it? Major Johnson! Well, the league lounge. Okay, let's just stop this nonsense. Now I have never striped. All right, and it wasn't a job. It wasn't. The first job? Yes. My first job was, I like proper job, was I actually worked at River Sport? Ah, nice.

I've always worked at River Sport so they were, man, they were so good. River Sport was so good and assisted me throughout my first year under 20s. Part of the criteria when you played under 20s back in there, either had to be at uni or have a job. Oh, that's right. Okay, so I went to Rebel Sports, look, I'm going to chase this dream, and I'm thinking I really want to do it. Can you assist? And I like, mate, come work here. We'll help you out. You can leave early if you have to, to go to trainings, whatever, and they just supported me out. That's cool, yeah. And what about kayaking stuff? Yeah, I like it. We've seen your moves on the field swings. Yeah. Chacha, I think you know? I'll let Kayla answer that. Okay. Sean Johnson with us for three for three kids. Yay! Yay! Yay! I saw you do this on another podcast, but I want to ask you this question anyway, because you gave a good answer. What are your bold predictions? Have you got three great bold predictions for the season? Bold predictions. Yeah. Bold? But not so bold that they're kind of uneducated. Great. Like, I can honestly see a world where this could possibly roll out. Yep.

I went with Adam Dewey, so he's the half-pack for the West Tigers. I predicted him to get Deli and half-pack of the year. Which no one else would have- No one ever is going to call that. I don't mind calling it. It's okay. It is what it is. I think I said that the dolphins are primed for a really good year. They've got a really good forward pack, like a really tough mobile forward pack. They've got a good team. They've got good heat stuff. Speed out wide, and then they've got probably one of the more elite halves in the comp. Yeah. I guess the ref. Oh, yes. I guess the ref to ref the NRL Grand Final, but I think that was so far off the mark. I don't know if that refs actually riffing this year. All right. That's one of the reasons I'm mad. No worries. Otherwise it's going to go. Yeah. Everyone will worry. Jon's to know now. Again, transparency. I haven't spent enough time around them to just really- But what I know, okay, this is the- What I- I just feel it in my gut is that every year that squad gets under Andrew Webster, we are a step closer to where- What we all want. And that's how I look at it. So if you think we were pretty good last year, I think we're not going to go backwards. Yeah.

I expect like continued improvement. That's what I expect. So last year we were faced with some gnarly challenges, man. Probably had to face more challenges than any other roster in the comp. Yeah. With injury just to keep positions. Yeah. Just really important positions. And then other micro ones throughout the year where people were in and out. So I just think, Matt, if we can just get the role of the dice a little bit, we can stay a little bit healthy in the year, another year under Andrew Webster. Hey, top four. Yeah. Who knows from there? So I've got one question with halves. When are we going to unleash the clearing? You've got to be careful of throwing kids out too soon. But then you have Lekker who's 90. Yeah. Like the 18 year old. There's 18 year old women. There's guys that are physically gifted. Like a Lekker. Yeah. That's a little bit different. But you've got to remember Jet plays a position which isn't based on physicality. Yes, there's an element of that to it. But he's also got, he's got to have the mind to be able to control and navigate. Now, I'm not saying he doesn't. But I don't think it's a bad thing that we're not seeing him round one.

Yeah. Maybe he will get a debut. I don't know. But to me, that's not a bad thing. You know, that's just, no, the club's being careful. They understand that they've got a talent there. And at the same time, you've got Lucky Hanson, who I saw out at training last week. You've got Chanel Harris to Vita. You've got Tanner Boyd. So you've got three really good options there for Webster to pick for our one. So it's just biting your time. Yeah. But when that opportunity comes, be ready. Yeah. Yeah, these are two things Brewster's, not this weekend. Next weekend, sixth The March. But then Mal was, it's a year ago, I think you were there to show on the NRL Vegas round. Oh, yeah, I actually forgot we were there for the leaves. How of a time it was? Some of the Warriors do as well. Well said. You're not flying there soon. Oh my God. After the Spirit on up. Would you want to go back? I said I never step foot on that strip ever again. Yeah, it has my soul, yes, I left a well-toed human, literally spit out Sardine, I was done, eh? Like, I'm the side of me, I will never go back, I love me, my, my smell there.

There's just a stench about the joint that you just don't need to go, you don't even experience it again. You don't even have to scratch the surface. Hey, hey, just don't strip his name. He's been quiet for a couple of minutes. Look at that, that big Johnson. I would take that, if that was up, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks, team. Sean Johnson, hell of a year ahead of you. Thanks so much for your time. Peace out. Coming up with the morning ruffle. Yes, what a lead, Sean Johnson, legend for the Warriors, Kiwis, Cronella Sharks. Don't forget that as well. Leg Lounge, the Fort Leg Lounge, Sean Johnson. That's on Monday. This coming Monday, second of March at 730. Would you like a double? Oh, no. Why did you force go down so much? What is that? Because I can't. Why is it so much? Because I can't. Because I find again. The morning ruffle podcast. A couple of weeks ago, you had the big announcement, Mal, that food funters are here in Jan for two shows. Well, it must have been just last week that we announced. They take cover tour. They're here for two shows.

The first one is at the new Christchurch stadium for Jan 19th. And then they head to Western Springs Auckland Jan 22nd. General tickets are available right now. You can text in the key word, food or food, three, five, two, oh. Actually gave away a double pass yesterday to Ash. You did. I did. To the first. The office match came through. What? You know, office match was in a double pass line around. Did you give that away? That'll be the first time it's come through for anyone. No, no. It was amazing. There you go. You didn't say that for the big show. Look at that. Just coming up in the world, eh? Oh, there you go, Mal. Actually, somewhere as priorities are. Yeah. Oh, man. Dave Grohl has been doing some interviews. Here he is talking about the new album, Your Favorite Toy. I think we all came to a place and me, in particular, I got to this place where I was like, Okay, so what's, like, what's the intention? What's, what's the ambition? Yeah. Like, what do we, it's our 12th record. We've been a van for 30 years and as people were, we're evolving and we're growing. And so, so where do we go from here?

Like, what do we do? And that's when all of the boundaries just sort of fall away. And that's where you realize, like, the intention and the ambition is really all, like, it's within yourself. So whatever's going to make us jump around and smile and scream. And like, that's the purest intention. And that's where it was like, we found it in this song. And this, this particular song was literally the springboard for the rest of the record. When we hit this, it was like, we hit this little vein of gold. And we're like, that's the feeling. That survived. That's the energy. And then we just blasted everything out in, like, three or four weeks. Three or four weeks to make an album, your favorite toy is talking about the song. And that's also the name of the album. And they're also on this massive bill. Welcome to Rockville, which is in Florida in May. And we've got the last boarding call. In fact, we've got it next. Okay, to get yourself in the draw. You got it right. Yeah. Well, I don't get any tickets. No. So I got the boarding call. But you can't see the food. Guns and roses, you name it. My chemical romance is so many bands there.

That's in May. And now yesterday, and we were trying to, I think we're having some issues with the video. Are we much, is that correct? We're sort of some censorship sort of things that are going on. Is that right? The stripping video. The stripping video. We're talking about free cheese today. A few issues with the video. Is there sort of too much editing needed done to it? Yeah, just having to go through censorship. Business dealings. Scream and Facebook. I'll come back to what's going on out. So Creech put on a performance yesterday. He told us. He's told us his first job was a male stripper. Yeah, he said. So he goes, I want to go back to my first job. We've all done it. Back to the beginning. Back to the beginning. Back to the beginning. So yesterday, you were there, Mal. You were doing some great commentary, Mal's. Have you ever commentated a strip show before? Of course I haven't. I think this is your new calling because you were so good at it. Here at MediaWorks, outdoor on the Pavilion. 20 odd people there. Creech appears from nowhere. Have a listen. Can you hit the music? Please welcome to the stage. He's a sexy creature.

Oh, he's teasing them. He's teasing them with the others. Oh, we've got bunks. We've got ass. We've got buns. We've got jump strength. He's grinding. He's bringing the hay. Are we going any further, sexy creature? I have a conf... It's got a confession. I have a confession. What's your hook and confession? Everybody, what's your confession? I was never a stripper. You're what? I was never a stripper. I just wanted to take off some clothes in front of everyone. My... My... My, uh... Cut the music, Mitch. My first job... My first job was at Moat Hat. But it's a bit boring. But it has been a pleasure to be sexy creature for you all. Have a great day. Thank you, Craig. Yeah. The video was supposed to be up, but Mitch, are we with? It hit a wall, have we?

Are we waiting for it? It's up on Robe right now. Oh, there you go. What are we texting to see it? I'll let you know after the ads. There's been some issues with the video. A censorship issue's getting it up. But it's finally up. This is this video of our producer, Craig, yesterday. He's stripped here at MediaWorks. He's got black undies on. He's packing some eggs. I'll be honest. Oh, it's baby oil. It's the baby oil. Oh my gosh. He's covering himself in baby oil. You need to watch us. Morning, Rumble, Instagram Live. You know, Miles, you find yourself sitting in these chairs going in. So we're going to push, we're pushing you listening to watch a video of our producer, Craig, stripping. You have to see this. I mean, he gave it all he had. I can definitely shake his lips. It's not a baby oil. It's not only that, it's only February. We've peaked. We've peaked. We have peaked as a show. How do we see this video?

Sexy to 3520. SCXY. And I'll take you through to Rover. You can check it out. I'm going back and forth with Meta to get it up on Facebook and Instagram as well. We'll work on that one. It doesn't keep on getting shut down. Yeah, Zuckerberg's not happy about it. But it's on Rover. Sexy 3520. Oh my God. Oh my God. Mel, who are you? What are you? I was banking in the chase. Well, I had to give him some encouragement. I love that. I don't know why. Sexy to 3520. I don't know why he had pegs on his nuffles. Also, there are some... Oh, this is really awkward looking guys in this video. It was like, right under watching. No, that's me watch. You made me do that. Well, you did a good job, Mel. Is there a scaffer in New Zealand? Who's allowed to travel internationally? The Morning Rumble podcast. This morning, if you have just joined us...

...that I and Maiden are back. Back in New Zealand, it's November, exciting the 50th anniversary tour of I and Maiden. They formed back in 1975. So they kicked this tour off last year. Mega Death also have announced this is their last tour of the world. So they're calling it quits as well. So, be able to see both these bands. I and Maiden and Mega Death in November. Text and run 3520 to get all the details. And the boss Brad joins us this morning in the studio. Good morning. A couple of massive bands, Brad, which you've been using. Can I just say, quickly, Roger. Our VIP. Very important Brad. Oh, yes. Lovely. Yeah. The nicest thing you've said in 29 years. Yeah, absolutely. Probably longer. Yeah. No, this is particularly exciting. I don't think I've ever seen two bands of that sort of calibre. Back to back at the same arena. It's going to be outstanding. Yeah, absolutely. And could be maybe the last chance to see both of them who would know. Well, it is. Mega Death. Yeah. Mega Death have been talking about their final tour for quite a while. And they'll form to 83 or something. Yeah.

And Dave Mustaine. He's mid-60s now. He's the same age as James Hetfield. Obviously, they're in a band together. Until, like, in the early days. Of course. But I think Mustaine's looking slightly more mature. That's what you would be, Brad. A kind of the same age. That's what you would be, Brad. A kind of the same age. That's what you would be, Brad. A kind of the same age. A kind of the same age. That's about a year and a half. And Brad looks a little bit more mature. I mean, Brad was younger than me. Anyway, back to Mega Death and Iron Maiden. That's kind of his story. That's kind of his story. This is going to be a hell of a show. And the good thing about Maiden this time, they're playing all their hits from the early days. From every song from the original Iron Maiden track through to Fear of the Dark. And it's just going to be an absolute hit fest. And then you've got Mega Death playing as well. So it's crazy. The Rock Pre-Sale. So there's actually a Rock Pre-Sale. As you said, Mal. Next Wednesday. You sign up to this, Brad. If you text and run 352-0, sign up through Rover. Because if you sign up for this, I displayed the trooper then. It's the trooper VIP pre-show party. You could win tickets to this. It's insane.

Are you hosting that, are you, Brad? Well, I think I'll find a way in there. I'm out of here. I'll be rude. I think he'll be rude. I'm out of here. Not to be rude. I'll see what it is. But not to be rude. But the package for the VIP is out the gate. It's a pre-show party. There's reserve seats. There's snacks. There's catapies. I think it's a nice way of saying one or two drinks. There's bags. There's hats. There's coasters, bagels, tickets. I think bags in. Oh, yes. It's okay. It's insane. It's insane. I think the tickets were about 600-800 bucks on this VIP. So nice and if you register you you win you and three mates. So there's four tickets. Yeah, just for red You register and you get your you get your pre tickets or pre-sales and then you go on the draw for that It's the pre-sales to what pre-sales is next Wednesday and midday, which is very very good. This this will sell out Yeah, extremely quickly. Well, it's just the one show, isn't it? It's one show. Yes. Is it just the one show? Well, who knows, but yeah

I remember last time when when Megadeth came you would remember this to Roger Greenman our night time announcer Yes at the time. We're the short fat bull stocky guy about Greenman And he had a like an intolerance to gluten. He couldn't he could have bread He did. He was mad anyway. Strangely he ate bread all the time I think he ate freaking two loaves of bread. Yeah, and Megadeth came into the studio and and Greenie sort of just ripped his clothes It's a short fat little bald sweety guy and started doing the huck in front of Dave Mustain Dave Mustain should have passed and it's not security guys. So right over the greedy I think they thought he was gonna attack it It's a challenge It was hilarious Megadeth, have I just come back? It doesn't come back since You're not gonna do that at the pre-sales That's amazing stuff Amazing stuff. It's gonna be good. It's getting those tickets get get on that pre-sales Because they they will sell very very quickly. So yeah, it's run to three five four

Adrenaline dump the pressure was on though because it was just Roger and I in the studio here We were crossing to you. Yeah, and what you couldn't hear was what was going on here and the pressure of rog His expectations now rog you had to get your performance day Yeah, yeah, and rog was like if he doesn't what a waste of time You know you were dealing with that You get given the show off to go fishing and it could have been on complete waste of time As it turned out it wasn't well you got three months off mate. Oh, we're still You got three months off and you didn't go fishing. Yeah, you could have caught a Marlin in that time What were you up to? Well, I want to need didn't even go on the water Text the word Marlin to 3520 to see the evidence. Yeah, the glory. What a great feeling. What a great feeling Absolutely, a huge weekend here the interral actually kicks off in Las Vegas this weekend you were there about a year ago to the day as well now Exactly there a year ago the warriors were taking on the camera radars of my memory. Yes

I produce a creature as a way today, but he's he's written something for the interral The start of the season. Oh, yeah, he's written this big trailer and he wants me to We got me to voice it. Well, you did the you did the big super rugby one for sky Rodge. Yes Opened a couple weeks ago, and I've done this one as well for the interral The lender. I just can't understand here something so small can be so impressive You would know about that where this next was Jane Riley the morning rumble podcast had Sean Johnson and about an hour ago Sean Johnson former warrior Legend uh Kiwis as well played for the chronologist shark. So the Ford leg lounge is back He came in to talk about that on Monday 730 on sky sport one at premieres because rugby league is back and it's the Vegas round this coming weekend It's on Sunday, which uh was probably about a year ago you were there now It was exactly a year ago. We were probably preparing to head along to that game The Warriors take on the camera Raiders Aussie with my very good friend Katie. She's a massive warrior's fan and she actually started tackling all these

I'm sorry. Raiders fans. She tackled this poor bloke to the ground who was there with his mum And his mum was screaming because Katie was just so wild that they'd lost And that they'd beaten the warriors and she was just taking on all these That's bad. When I think about it. She was probably the only real warrior that was doing any tackling in that game Oh, man. What a time that was. You should have been on the field I should have left you there. Yeah. Well, I'm part of it. Part of you and her is still there. I do believe Ah, but it's kicks off again this this weekend and Raiders back and producer creature's away today's at Crosshuch for a electric av or weekend So he won't be he'll be in a terrible shape on Monday I think he's a letra avid jason What sort of creature would you get on Monday? I'm excited to see which version of him we get but what's he giving you to do? Creature loves rugby league. He loves the warriors and he's written This he wrote this hype trailer a bit of a hype trailer for the NFL because it is as you may or may not know Roger did the hype trailer officially for sky for their

Super rugby first round opening and it was brilliant Which I must thank you for most. I was really only just passed on your details because you've got the voice for a ride So he absolutely nailed it So we decided and creature wrote you this. Yeah, why don't you do an NRL one now? It's unofficial. Yeah, I don't think the NRL I came for you to play it. No, and this won't won't be on sky. No, no producer creature right this one here. Here we go To tell any great story we must go back to where it started the offseason The first chapter of the tale we now know is the NRL wasn't written only in triumph but in headlines by these men Men who gave us their blood, sweat and tears and give themselves the urine gear and beers These beers and all beers are coming. I cannot wait Todd Carney channeling beer grills with the infamous bubbler photo. So you didn't invent this party trick. No, beer grills did He gets paid for it. Mitchell Piers called that dog it up. It wasn't the other way around

Mitchell Piers was grabbing someone else's dog and putting it in a lute position Not to mention sawing someone else's a furniture. Most players favorite ball is the steedon But think to Radley's is the ink ball Greatness is never just about what happens between the white lines But where those white lines end up in between Oh It's about redemption arcs. It's about second chances It's about surviving mad monday and still fronting up in round one We flipped to the newest page in the chaotic glorious book of league history think not of the offfield dramas But the ones that take place on the field in the unpredictable theater of our beautiful gay We're saying it before Legends will rise Reputations will tumble and back fences will be run from
