Officer Jacob Jones Fires at Suspect in Anchorage Standoff

Bonan was shooting at cops from his home in the Bay Shore Clat area on the 12,000 block of Shore Circle when the house caught fire and he died inside. The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes with Jones squeezing off three or four rounds. He saw Bonan go down inside before flames took over. Firefighters put out the blaze and found Bonan dead, but police aren't saying yet if Jones is shot hit him or what sparked the gunfire exchange. Jones has been on the force since 2016 and has a history with shootings. Back in May 2024, he was one of four officers who took down 34-year-old Christopher Handy. Then in October, he and a partner wounded 52-year-old Damien Dollison after the guy allegedly blasted a shotgun at them near a Circle K. Right now, Jones is on standard four-day Admin leave.
