Objectively Correct (Probably): Top 5 Things We Thought Would Be Problems As Kids But Aren't

Today's topic is top five things I thought would be a problem when I was a kid but they aren't. They're the kind of things where like as you're falling asleep at night, your mom tucks you in, gives you little forehead kiss. And then as you're going to bed, like in the dark room, you're like holy cow. These things are coming my way and I need to be prepared. So let's get right into it at number five. We have quicksand. Now this is a classic. I feel like this experience everyone had. Personally, this was backed up for me in like the terror factor by that one scene from Princess Bride. But you know, obviously that's not an issue. Although I really did think so. Because there's actual ways to avoid it and get out, which is they did teach us about. You know, at the same time, it stopped drop in roll for fires, which maybe could also go on this list, maybe.

1:01They're also telling you, hey, don't panic, don't kick, float up on your back and try to crawl over on your belly. And I'm like, I'm sorry, I need to know this. That's what I do know it. Up next is, up next at number four is Ebola. This is really specific, maybe. Yeah, this is very specific. But I just remember it was like an era of our life where like maybe we, I think we would have been in like middle school. Yeah, this is our generation. Yeah, and I just like remember there was this outbreak. I didn't even know what the illness was like, what the symptoms were, but I was like, I'm gonna die and it's gonna be for Ebola. If I get sick, it's going to be Ebola. A hundred percent. I think every time I got a cold for the rest of the year, I probably was like, and this is how I got home. I really thought wherever it was located, it was coming to get us. Did not know it was the third world. Also didn't know what the third world was. Also plot twist. It was never the problem. COVID ended up being the issue and you know, Loki, maybe. Maybe. Maybe more serious, but it was still survival, because here we are. Yeah. Wow. Ebola and no, I got COVID. I also got to go to theizer. But here we are. So I still be here recording this show.

2:02Yep. Thank God. And thank God for that. And I'm sure the listeners are saying the same thing. At number three, we have venomous snakes and spiders and frogs. Just all the like venomous things, animals. And you know what? Where are they? Because I've been really careful and I still haven't really encountered any. Like some out of the state, maybe a few times. I've seen a Radler in Texas. But I haven't dealt with this. This has not been a major issue for me. Yeah. I met an animal like zoo owner guy who came to our library one time in my town. And he tells a story about this time that his pet snake in college bit him. And he was rushed to the ER. What? And he died twice. First time from the venom. Second time from the anti-venom that they gave him that he was allergic to. Hello. And so he literally died twice. And I was so convinced that specific snake was going to end. I would strip my bed of my bed sheets every night to make sure it was not in my bed. Oh my gosh. Wait, that's horrible. Yeah. He died twice. Who is he? Like selling those to like for a domestic house pet.

3:03This guy just was really into like exotic animals. So he's collecting them. So that was kind of his problem. But I didn't realize that. Wow. Anyway, in number two, getting proposed to you when you don't have an answer turns out it's way harder to get proposed to you than we originally thought. Yeah. Nowadays we would kill for a proposal. So hit us up, bachelor's. No. Yeah, I mean, we've carefully considered our answer. And guess what? We've actually figured out now you the answer. Yes. Yeah. I'm no longer scared of somebody asking me and being like, oh no, what do I say? Wait, am I? Yes. Hold on. Yeah, yeah. This is a problem I would love to make. I thought I was going to be like fighting off people who are trying to prove it. You're going to stick me. Yeah. You have to be like the stick. My like four year old self was like, it's going to get, I'm going to get to it for it. I'm going to turn 18 then all of a sudden. Like, I don't know once a year. I'll have to face this problem. I thought I was going to be married up from breathe. People were going to be lining up to fight for my hand. And then I'd still say no because I'm a feminist. I got it. Guess what? No. I'm not. I say it. I still. I still try to fight me. Okay. And at number one, guys, we have earthquakes, specifically the land before time style.

4:06Yes. Now, if you guys don't know what we're talking about in the land before time, I think it's like the first movie. There's this little brontosaurus. And he's like standing there with his family and a crack forms on the earth that like just exactly separates him from all of his family members. And that crack just opens into a cavern that then creates like a whole new continent that he has to brave by himself. Just him and like 700 T-rexas. And it's all right. Yeah. This really taught me that all of my loved ones will always be on the other side of every single time. Now let's do a quick recap at number five. We have quicksand. Number four, Ebola. Number three, venomous stuff of all sorts, really. Number two, the real one that doesn't matter getting proposed to you when you're unprepared. Gosh dang it.
