Well this game was won in the first quarter. No if ands or Buns about it. I mean, this was a wire to wire dominant victory for this Denver Nuggets team 124 to 96.

3:04Look, we know Philadelphia was down a number of different starters tonight, notably Tyre Samaxi and Joelle Mbied. And I know you guys have probably seen this narrative floating around on social media. It comes up every single time the sixers come to town here in Denver. The fact that Joelle Mbied and I know he's hurt has not played in Denver since before the pandemic is absolutely insane. And I'm not going to go wax poetic on the Yoke versus Bied rivalry. If you want to call it that, I think we all I know it. I'm sure the listeners know it. Heck, I bet the 76ers fan even knows it at this point who the superior player is and how that MVP season played out for Mbied. Tip your capping. Congratulations. The nuggets won the championship. But just always a reminder and you know, it's always interesting when Philly comes to town and Mbied is not on the court. But yeah, man, I mean, what a game tonight from the Denver Nuggets and let me get my, I don't want to say Debbie Downer, but my realistic point of view out of the way so that we can go and talk about how awesome this nuggets team was here tonight. They were supposed to do this, right? We know that Denver, this is the first night of a game.

4:07I have a back-to-back tomorrow in Memphis. We'll talk about that game towards the end of the show as well. But knowing Philly, though, if it was down as many starters as they were, knowing that Denver was coming off that terrible loss to Los Angeles Lakers, I personally expected a really big bounce back victory for Denver tonight and that's exactly what we got. And I was chatting with one of my buddies at the studio earlier today and I was like, they're going to blow them out, right? Like obviously like we're paying attention. We're watching the game. We're loving what we're seeing. But my buddy brought up something to me, he's like, yeah, like they were supposed to blow a Golden State. What was that? Two, three weeks ago now. And we know how that game ended. Draymond Green ruled out late, Golden State with no Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond. And I'm not trying to necessarily compare the Warriors to the Sixers. We know what the Warriors are. We know what the Sixers are. I understand the Sixers are, you know, a bubble team or a play-in team rather, excuse me. But this was just a complete get right game for this Denver nuggets from start to finish. The fact that you didn't have to go all out for this victory and you were able to rest your starters in the second half is really just exactly what you wanted to see

5:07for them tonight. And about as stress-free as a victory as they come by in the NBA, what did it be nice if every nuggets game ended this way? What would it be awesome if this is just how they played on a night and a night out basis? I know that's unrealistic. There's a lot of great teams in the NBA. But like it was so refreshing. It just kind of like kick back, sit on the couch, eat some dinner, 8 p.m. tip and just cruise your way to a victory. And that's exactly what we saw here tonight from Denver. I mean, they shot the lights out. And again, this first quarter for Denver, they set the tone early and really just didn't look back. It's the first half as a whole. But the first quarter, you outscore Philadelphia there, 38 to 22, Nicoli Yochich with eight assists in the first quarter. I had to check myself there. I was almost going to say first half, it was the first quarter for Nicoli Yochich. He finishes tonight with only 25 minutes played. And I cannot stress how awesome that is for Nicola and just this nuggets team knowing where they've been at with the injuries to go in there, get a relatively easy dub. And that's something he's a relatively just get an easy dub and move on to Memphis and

6:10not really have to grind the gears with your starters for lack of better phrase. So Nicola tonight's 25 minutes played only eight points. It's very, very rare that we've seen Nicoli Yochich held to under. I shouldn't even say help, just Nicola Yochich not having double digit scoring. I didn't have to tonight. He had 14 assists as we mentioned, eight of those assists coming in the first quarter for Nicola. I did have five turnovers, which has been the theme with him throughout the course of the season. But seven rebounds for the big fella, four of seven from the field, and a plus 14, the box plus minus the lowest score there are the box plus minus of the Denver nuggets starters. So nice to see a passive Nicola Yochich night. He gets to kick out to his shooters. The three point line may take care of business in a way we go. So don't have to go crazy and wax poetic on Nicola Yochich, he did what he was supposed to do. Didn't have to play a ton of minutes and the nuggets get out with the victory and keep the big fella healthy. I mean, outside of that man, you know, Aaron Gordon tonight, 19 minutes played a dozen points, five boards to assist a steal, like to see that from A.G., we know where he's been at.

7:10And again, I think not just with Nicola, but with this team as a whole that has been injury plagued all year long. I just can't state enough how again, nice it was to see this team just get a relatively easy victory here against the Philadelphia 76ers. So all the starters had really good games considering they all played, you know, only a handful of minutes. I mean, 12 or 19 minutes for Aaron Gordon, 23 minutes for Cam Johnson, who we'll talk about here in a moment, 26 for Jamal and Christian Brown, logged the most minutes with only 27 CB had himself a night to 22 points, seven of nine from the field, two of three from three and a grab five rebounds and dished out three assists. And as I mentioned, I mean, Denver shot the lights out tonight, 50% from the field, 48% from three really cannot ask for much more in particular from this starting unit. I mean, we go into half time here. Denver had a they scored 72 points in the first half alone, 72 to 72 to 40 was a score

8:11going to halftime. It's a 32 point advantage for Denver. And I caught this on the broadcast at one point in this game. That was the fifth biggest lead in franchise history for this Denver Nuggets team. So again, I mean, it just speaks to what this team was doing shot 50% 57% I believe in the first half here as well. And that's that's exactly what you want to see from this team. And let's talk about Cam Johnson here for a moment because here we go, right? Let me pull up his game log here real quick. Oh, actually, I had one more stat that I wanted to give you about a call, you know, let me do that first. My guy Jake Shapiro, check him out on social media at Chappellicious is a great job covering the Denver Nuggets. So this was an interesting one. With the nuggets up big and Yoke is sitting on 8 7 and 14 at the time of this tweet. This will be Nicole Yoke, which is first time scoring under 10 points in a game where he went 1 7 and 24 early on February 7th, 2024 against Detroit when Denver had another runaway win.

9:11That was 191 nuggets games ago. Denver will move to eight and two soon, other eight and two since 2020, 2021 season when Yoke is hit single digit scoring in a game. So that's some pretty interesting lore there for Nicole Yoke, odds are when Yoke doesn't have to score that many points and obviously helped under double digits. The nuggets have a fantastic record. So let's pivot to Cam Johnson here real quick, 23 minutes to night for Cam, 18 points, six of eight from the field, three of three from three, couple of rebounds and assist as well for Cam, plus 22 in the box, plus minus. And here we are now with Cam Johnson and I'll pull up his game log here real quick because it's been four quality games in a row for Cam and I understand who Philadelphia is in particular tonight down there, their star players and imbedient Naxi among some other starters, but looking at the last four game sample size for Cam Johnson, you've got to be happy if you're a nuggets fan against Houston. They won that game 129 to 93, played 25 minutes in that one, shot 66% from the field, 17 points,

10:17three of five from three against San Antonio in his 31 minutes play and put up 15 points, 75% from the field on six of eight shooting against the Lakers. I know is a brutal loss, but for Cam Johnson, a good game by his standard this season, 18 points, six of 13 from the field, so 46% four of 10 from three and then of course tonight, as I mentioned, six of eight from the field, 18 points, three of three from three. This is now four consecutive quality games from Cam Johnson and I stress the word quality and I understand the nugget fan had much higher expectations like you expected more quality performance than not quality performances from Cam Johnson this season quite frankly and that is not in the case. We understand that. But for Cam to go out there and do what he's done these last four games, is this the turning of the page? Is this the start of him heating up? Has he finally settled in with this nuggets team? We know it was rough early in the year, then he gets hurt. Now he's removed from the injury for a handful of games and maybe Cam Johnson is starting

11:18to find his rhythm, which would absolutely be huge for this Denver Nuggets team down the stretch of this regular season heading into the playoffs because Denver wants to win a championship. And if you listen to my past episodes here on the lock down nuggets postcast, I've told you not that I'm pessimistic, I'm just not as optimistic as I was before the season. I still think they've got a chance to do it. I just think they've got to prove it a lot more, which they're not going to have too many opportunities to down the stretch here in the regular season knowing their schedule point being if Cam Johnson continues to play like this, you're saying there's a chance because you know what you're going to get from Jamal, you know what you're going to get from Joker, Peyton Watson's coming back likely this week, Christian Brown seems to sell into a groove Aaron Gordon's healthy, right? So so hopefully it's a sign of things coming together for this Denver Nuggets team. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section here tonight, but I thought Cam Johnson, you know, not not necessarily eye popping with respect to the box score, but just a quality game for a player who has not had a quality season. Your final score on this one, 124296, talked about the starting lineup tonight and not having to run them into the ground as we've seen at times throughout the course of this season. So that was refreshing. And the bench unit tonight, man, Spencer Jones with a nice game, put a 24 points off the bench in his, or excuse me, 24 minutes, put up seven points, excuse me. But Spencer Jones, I feel like is also, how do I put it? He looks a lot more comfortable out there. There was a stretch of games from Spencer Jones after he was converted to a full-time contract where he just did not look comfortable. And so it's nice to see Spencer Jones string together. I know people are going to point to finger about how the Thunder game ended and how the Laker game ended played well against the Spurs. Just in my opinion, take it for what it's worth. I think Spencer Jones has looked a little more comfortable. The defensive situations against Luca and SGA respectively are coaching dynamics that

17:35I just still don't understand. Jonas Valentinus tonight, 19 minutes, eight points left to see that. I mean, you got real nice contributions from your bench. I mean, there's really no other way to put it. Jonas with eight, heart of a junior with nine, Ties Jones, right? We haven't seen him too much. Bruce Brown with 12, love to see that from this not good steam. And just looking at it as a whole, I mean, this, it's, it's, it's weird. I almost feel like I have more to say when they lose or they, you know, win a tight game. When the game is straight forward and simple as it was tonight, like you kind of just put two thumbs up and you move on to the next. I mean, looking at the numbers tonight, I mean, it's really shot 22% from three, 39% from the field. You're going to win that game, right? I mean, Denver, you know, they did turn over the ball over 14 times. You don't like that. But didn't really come back to bite him in the rear end in this one for obvious reasons. They win the rebounding battle, 53 to 42. And away we go. I mean, you just love to see it from Denver tonight. That's really the best way to put it is all around. It was just a clean victory at the end of the day. Like I said, a refreshing victory for this Denver Nuggets team now.

18:41Let's turn the pace tomorrow here for just a minute as we wind down here on the postcast. Memphis is Memphis for lack of better phrase. It is the second item back to back. He's just go out there and win the game and do it in convincing fashion. And we know that the Nuggets have been an up and down team all season. But tomorrow night against Memphis is a game that you got to pick up, right? The Lakers have been playing well. You got to try to make up some ground in the Western conference standings to try to get a good match up here in the playoffs and try to avoid San Antonio or try to avoid Oklahoma City at all costs or play them as late as possible in the conference championship. What I'm looking for tomorrow is go win the leap in game. Like go out there and take care of business. I'm not expecting them to go out there and win like they did tonight. But this should not be a game where we're sitting there with four minutes ago, like, you know, biting our nails off like what is going on with this Nuggets team. So that's what I'm looking for. And at the end of the day, this is a win that I like. It's quality, but it doesn't really change my opinion of this team as a whole. Again, I think it was just much needed and expected to a certain extent.
