Saudi Arabia says that it shut down a major oil pipeline after it was attacked by drones on Friday. This comes as Yemen's Iranian back to the rebels captured a strategic island near the Red Sea further tightening. A chokehold on an alternate route for oil shipping as the Iranians continued to block a destructive for-mouse. Ampere Sadeel Al-Shalci reports. Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry said the drones were launched from Iraq and targeted the East West pipeline in the areas around Riyadh and Medina. It said that the attacks resulted in injuries and damage to the pipeline. The Iraqi Prime Minister ordered an investigation. On Friday, the Houthis captured a strategic island in the Bebebel Mendeb straight at the entrance of the Red Sea.

1:03The rebel group has been fighting Yemeni government forces which are backed by Saudi Arabia, and it controls most of Yemen's north and capital. The Houthis have been attacking Saudi oil tankers moving through Bebebel Mendeb, which is a vital shipping channel near the Red Sea. Hadeel Al-Shalci, NPR News, Istanbul. President Trump is continuing to promise that gas prices will come down after the midterm elections, but he still has not explained just how that will happen. Gas prices remain above $4 a gallon since the U.S. war against Iran began, and diesel costs have set a new record. And Americans in every state are feeling the effects of the war, even if they don't drive. That's because many of the goods purchased in the U.S. are moving around the country using diesel. Arizona, Trevor Daniel Wood says he and his family are hurting. Stocks overall fell this week, as energy prices continued to soar. An escalation of the U.S. war with Iran pushed crude oil prices higher, retail gasoline prices in the U.S. jumped about 15 cents a gallon during the week, while the price of diesel fuel topped $6 a gallon for the first time ever. Rising energy prices are keeping inflation elevated. Consumer prices in August were up 3.4 percent from a year ago. Friday's inflation report left investors more confident. The Federal Reserve will raise interest rates when policymakers meet next week. Stocks rose on Friday, but for the week the NASDAQ lost two-thirds of a percent. The S&P 500 index fell eight-tenths of a percent, and the Dow Jones industrial average tumbled 1.6 percent. Scott Horsey in Pyrenees, Washington. A court in Hong Kong has sentenced three activists there to prison terms of about five to seven years. The three had for years organized vigils in remembrance of China's 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown. The case has been watched closely, as Beijing continues to clamp down on the

More than half a million Russian troops have been killed since that country's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February of 2022. That's according to a senior British official. Another million troops have been injured at the fighting, as those numbers were released, Russian drone struck gas stations and key Friday. It's the second straight day the city has seen such strikes. Some educators in Vermont are trying to reimagine the college experience as more people question the cost of a college degree. From Vermont Public, Liam Elder Connors has a reports. The Greenway Institute in Montpelier will offer just one degree, engineering. Its founders and advisors include tech executives, a former state education secretary, and a NASA engineer. Students will get hands-on experience, literally building things in class, and for the second half of their education, they'll get real engineering jobs.

4:10The college will also scale back on amenities to save money. There won't be a gym, and students will cook their own meals. Mark Somerville is Greenway's founding president.
