NPR's Hadeel Al-Shalti reports the deal will be signed during a meeting with Arab nations. The agreement between Oman and Iran to temporarily reopen the Strait of Hormuz has been in the works for weeks. It maps out routes that will allow ships to enter the waterway from the Iranian side and exit from the Omani end. In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Iranian President Masoud Pesashkyan said the agreement would be signed at a meeting with Arab states on the Persian Gulf. Iran said that eight foreign ministers will be attending. The Iranian blockade of the Strait has affected global oil supplies. U.S. diesel prices hit a new American high at an average of $6 a gallon. 1:04heavily to cover the payments. Speaking at an event in Miami, DeSantis warned it could worsen two problems that Republicans have pledged to address. What I don't think you want to do is borrow another trillion and a half dollars and then just try to flood that into the economy because that will lead to more inflation. That will lead to more debt and more inflation. President Trump told the Republican midterm convention in Dallas this week that every American adult would receive $5,000 if the party retained control of both the Senate and House this fall. He called the payment a Trump dividend and described it as a reward for the country's economic success under Republican leadership. The CIA has declassified dozens of documents presented to U.S. presidents related to al-Qaeda and 9-11. NPR's Greg Meyery reports the document show the intelligence community was concerned about a possible attack but did not know the specifics.

2:08The CIA posted on its website 71 documents from daily briefings delivered to President Bill Clinton and George W. Bush from 1998 to 2001. A briefing to Bush on August 6, 2001, just over a month before the attack, said the FBI found, quote, patterns of suspicious activity consistent with preparations for hijackings, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York. The briefing added, quote, we have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting saying that Ben Laden wanted to hijack a U.S. aircraft. That briefing was one of two declassified previously. The other 69 have just now been released. Greg Meyery, NPR News, Washington. This is NPR News. American tennis player Ben Shelton has advanced to the U.S. Open Men's singles final. NPR's Becky Sullivan reports he won in four sets over fellow American Francis Tiafo.

3:12Friday's semifinal between Shelton and Tiafo was plenty anticipated because both players are American men. No American man has won any grand slam singles title since Andy Roday class won the U.S. Open back in 2003. But the semifinal was history for another reason. Both players are Black Americans. Tiafo is the Maryland-born son of immigrants from Sierra Leone. Shelton is mixed race. His dad Brian, who's also his coach, is Black. No Black man had reached the U.S. Open singles final since Arthur Ash, more than half a century ago. This will be Shelton's first appearance in any grand slam final. He's 23. He will face Alexander's Veriv, the German who won the French Open earlier this summer. The match is set to start at 2 p.m. Eastern Time Sunday. Becky Sullivan and Pyrr News.
