SpringfieldsTalk1041. Hello, welcome everyone to the show on this fine Tuesday. My name is Nick Reed Streaming live ksgf.com Not on you tube today as usual Sarah Myers out. She is still in line at seven brew from yesterday I'm choking of course. She's just taking some much deserved vacation days What a Depending on your perspective a marketing genius move seven brew. I mean all over the place those little giveaways Not sure if you're in the loop on this if you aren't it's because you either didn't drive by one I guess the the day was yesterday or you weren't on social media and just the Lines of vehicles at seven brew giving away those little squishy cubes whatever they're called and I just before I came on a
A video scrolled from a local TV station in Texas debt in Texas. I think it was where the fire department had to shut it down because of The high volume of traffic and half literally half their police department In that town was Being utilized in order to try to direct the traffic and I mean this is this was happening all over the place where these Seven brews were I watch this footage. I you know the people you got two types of people You got the people that Get in line for something like that And then you get the people that Film it and ridicule the people who are sitting in line For something like that. I guess I'm kind of in the middle. I'm like it not my thing but There are a lot of worse things in the world. I suppose I thought I do have as I look at
A line of people waiting you know 45 minutes an hour however long In order to get I don't know what the cost of something like that is maybe a buck to produce maybe even less I'm not sure what the cost is to produce if you're not familiar with that we were giving away There's just these cubes that are these sort of uh For lack of a better term they have a jelly inside of them so it would be Maybe today's version of a stress ball um sort of can be a dicting to really squeeze and everything it wasn't I don't know that it had any sort of labeling or anything on it was just playing and um When I see The vast numbers of people That waited in line for something like that for I'm sure some people over an hour although seven brood is a very very good job chick-fil-a style of getting people through but align that long I mean there's only so much you can do
And I wonder how many of those people So gripe about Having to wait in line 15 minutes to vote Or that argue we should be able to vote two months in advance because well now I shouldn't have to wait in line for 30 minutes or even an hour during presidential elections That's just unreasonable that's crazy that's insane But we'll sit just as longer if not longer For something that's free to be you know freebie little free toy For adults too Or that argue it's too much of a uh of a burden To have to show a photo ID in order to vote But it's not too much of a burden to wait in line over an hour for something like that That most of you I know I'm probably you right now you're not that person obviously But you know that there were people in that if you were one of the folks in the line you know in the line with you
Either in front of you or behind you At there definitely were some people on the left that had no trouble waiting in the line that long But uh will complain about the fact that they have these Insurmountable burdens that are racist by the way of course and sexist It when it when it comes to the the were the you know voting Process in this country. That's it's all it's all priorities It is all priorities This week is the Republican midterm election uh or sorry the midterm convention This is the first for the Republican party It is in Dallas um it is supposed to get The basic cited and I'm sure there is a hope that it would also get a lot of those people that are maybe the independent voters
Have them help them refocus and a recognition and understanding the the distinct differences between the two political parties I'm sure we're going to hear a lot about the socialism and communism that has Infiltrated and is taking over the Democrat party Some of the major networks are very vague or silent on whether they're going to carry this or not right now C-SPAN is the network that's like yeah, we're going to carry this thing fully Some of the cable news networks are going to cover it in their own capacity But then the free over the air networks that's a bit of an up in the air and you know If you're if you're trying to call it from a sheer numbers standpoint I don't know that it's necessarily a no-brainer decision if this were the The presidential election cycle these were the nomination process conventions then i think that is more of a no-brainer because You know americans are paying greater attention or at least they know that they should be as the elections are rolling around
But for the midterms for the Republican party i don't know that it's really a no-brainer if i'm running an ADC cbs or nvc Is this really going to bring in viewers other than the absolute hardcore Folks and they're probably going to be streaming it or watching it on fox news or you know some other favorite outlet and and i i'm sure that they will get a lot of criticism If they don't air it, but i i don't know that i would necessarily blame them strictly from a A viewership standpoint i don't know that there's a great deal of excitement Honestly even amongst Republicans About this convention so a fill in and what's going on with it and i'm sure leading up to it You're going to hear a lot of what people are hoping it won't be about Versus what they think it's going to be about the word right now and i'll say for a lot of People even in you know trump voters Trump supporters are a little concerned. It's going to be all about trump because that has been a huge delivery
In the past for get out the vote, but i don't know given that trump is no longer So when it's running for reelection that Trying to rally and excite the base off of Donald trump is the thing that's going to necessarily get people out as opposed to How it how it perhaps has in the past the pyramid roofing company text line 447 ksgf whether in a moment now the latest news update All right more detail look at that first alert forecast from osar's first meteorologist hum Schmidt that is it is a heat advisory that'll kick in at noon today Until eight o'clock tonight slight chance of showers thunderstorms later in the afternoon Otherwise sunny hot high near 97 heat index of 102 clear 74 tonight There's a better chance of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow mainly in mid to late afternoon about a 40% chance High of 98 heat index 105 and then Thursday showers possibly thunderstorm or two with a high of only 82
Springfield talk 104 one my name is dick read welcome to the show we are streaming live ksgf.com There were um some Positive economic numbers that came out over the The Over the weekend friday i suppose is is when the release actually occurred and This is a double edged sword because they are signs of positive undercurrents which Eventually lead to a trickle down Impact that people actually notice in their everyday lives but going into the convention at the same time if it is a lot of Using numbers in order to brag about successes then people feel as if they're left out like oh that this is success because i'm not feeling it and so it is a a delicate presentation that is needed here of of just explaining lit listen
Yeah, you may not be feeling this yet, but this is what happens when you turn something around it takes a while when you are in a hole And you change your behavior as the country has the the Trump administration the republicans. I mean, this is the way that it should be sold have changed It takes a little bit for it to kick in it's just no different Then a person who has made tremendously poor spending decisions they Have then decided i'm in a hole. I got i've got to change some things and they get on some sort of plan Like a davram z style plan and anyone who has ever been in a serious economic situation like that in their own personal life And made meaningful changes to turn it around You're two weeks later. You're not flush with cash two weeks later You are not suddenly in a much better more comfortable position In fact, sometimes the fix is more painful than when you are ignoring the fix
And explaining that to people who are a combination of impatient and ill informed deliberately so by the media and the democrat party As to how these things work and making sure people understand listen If the democrats get back in charge Then we're going to go back to 9% inflation because they are saying that they want to put their policies back in place You think gas prices are high now They're even lower than they were during the peak of the Biden administration And that that you know those were deliberate decisions that were made Yes, we've got the situation going on with Iran that is going to be temporary and then it is going to alleviate some of the the problems that we had before in terms of supply and and you know from where we get our oil and energy and then of course you've got the Venezuelan component in there And so once we get through this it's going to be better than ever or we can go back to having even higher gas prices
By policy design as we did when the democrats were in charge before it just make sure people understand Listen, we know that you don't feel great right now We know that you're not feeling it now but here's some of the indicators that show things are headed in the right direction and Putting democrats back in charge is going to throw all that just right out the window And we're going to go back to the way it was before we're going to start digging the hole again instead of climbing our way out Now some of the numbers in New York post noting American manufacturing is on the rebound That's good news That could hardly come at a better time for Trump as republicans gurd themselves from midterm elections just two months from now Manufacturing not the only sector that is on a hiring spree businesses across the board Added 162 a thousand new jobs in august even the new york times called the latest employment numbers zesty The paper quoted tea row prices chief u.s. Economist Bureau
Berina your e-c quote. It's a very good report and it perhaps shows that financial conditions more broadly are not that tight The workforce participation rate rose as well Which matters because people who drop out of the labor force are invisible in unemployment rates that only count those who are looking for work The economy is pulling americans who'd given up hope off the sidelines and getting them into jobs That is a success not only for Trump's policies, but for his immigration crackdown too It's no longer so easy for companies to abandon americans by hiring foreign workers instead And so again these these you want to call them leading indicators the things that have to happen before People start feeling real positive meaningful change are happening The what one of the
Well, it's probably the leading messaging problem by the democrats In the lead up to the last presidential election was or at least up until a year prior to the election Maybe a little more democrats were trying to tell americans everything was fine And it was wonderful That you feeling paying at the grocery store and the inflation stuff those were all Republican talking points and everything was just fine Now a few months before the election they began Recognizing that they could no longer deny the reality and that's when Kamala Harris was talking about putting price controls on grocery stores and And you know none of the inflation issues none of the affordability issues were their fault It had nothing to do with their policies. It was all evil greedy grocery stores Evil greedy gas stations Evil greedy business owners that conspired all across the country from the international corporations the small business owner to jack up prices on you
Either which way people just didn't care they just wanted it to get better the Trump administration Is dealing with a similar situation in terms of marketing the difference being the Economy actually has turned around and the indicators show that it just hasn't gotten to the average person yet And the the challenge here is The you know the democrats claiming that You know they're the ones who caused this problem yet they're the ones who are going to tell all of us that they are the answer to it While they're running around literally raising taxes making it more expensive to live They're claiming that the elect us and we will make things more affordable That is part of the problem along with the media pushing that narratives and people have very short memories And people get angry and they make emotional decisions
And they want to stick it to somebody if they aren't happy where things are And I think that there are probably even some People that voted for Trump and they feel as if this is his fault not congressional Republicans and that the reason Things have not gotten better in the way that they wanted And in a way that they can run around bragging about Is because Trump is distracted with ira Uh There's another truth here however Other than the gas price situation Iran has nothing to do With what people perceive as a lack of fixing the economy We hear this a lot the Trump well he needs to focus on the economy instead of Iran Iran's not a distraction that the problem at this point in terms of meaningful change for the economy is that it has to come from congress
We've got One of the biggest drivers of our economic problem particularly when it comes to It well just inflation obviously being one of the situations But inflation itself is under control But we just have these massive spending problems And there are no signs that Republicans are going to do anything and they haven't done anything to fix it other than just the very I the the concessions that conservative caucus made Trump recognized or that the conservative caucus They were able to get they didn't make the concessions they got the concessions out of the establishment Republicans But we're still adding to the deficit we're looking at 40 trillion dollars And Trump realized at some point that The Republican Congress was not going to Provide any more concessions than they already had to the conservative caucus and so he said send it over particularly when it comes to the Senate
The hurdles that it would have there and then you know he signs it But you know the Congress is the source of the real Underline fundamental problems with the economy right now and Trump really You know, I mean he can only sign so many executive orders But when you have a congress that won't even codify those things in law Part of the economic It's not instability, but part of the reason that the economy hasn't More effectively Improved because of some of what Trump has done is because they recognize that once the Democrats if the Democrats get back in charge particularly in the White House You're gonna undo all of those things Because they're not codified in law because Republicans will not Pass it through so it actually gets signed in law into law
The executive branch Was it designed to fix an economy? I mean frankly our government wasn't designed nor was it intended to fix an economy Unfortunately, we have a government that over the generations has decided to make itself instrumental in our economy And so this is what we deal with because of that But even in that context This is a fix when it if it's going to be fundamental if it is going to be something That is bold and meaningful and something with real staying power that cannot simply be undone by an executive order That it's got to come from congress Springfields talk 101 I'm Nick Reed I Want a great home loan.com if you have any home loan needs Talked with Alex Caric or this past Friday. I believe it was this press right if not it was the Friday prior
And this realization that's the the interest rate situation for all intents and purposes it is where it is and so and I know I always preach the message as a you know because of them preaching the message that you don't marry that interest Even if you get a higher interest rate you can always refinance if if those interest rates drop But still even if you're thinking ah that's gonna that's a bit of a hassle to have to do that. I'll just wait that there's no real Predictions currently on the landscape that are indicating that those interest rates are going to be lowered in any meaningful way So if that has been your sticking point The one thing that is continuing to happen The price of homes is going up. So you are probably costing yourself Money if you're waiting Now you may be waiting for other reasons. That's fine. I'm just saying that if that's the reason why
Then you're probably not making the best decision for you But you can talk with the characters their team about all of that uh, you know have that conversation what you're looking to do what your finances are like and they can give you certainly much more information than I can And then you can make a more informed decision. I want a great home loan.com first alert forecast from Ozark's first meteorologist Tom Schmidt sponsored by Sinclair of the Ozark's home improvements He'd advisory kicking at noon today through eight o'clock tonight slight chance of maybe a shower thunderstorm later this afternoon otherwise sunny hot high near 97 704 tonight chance of showers storms tomorrow High of 98 heat index 105 and Thursday showers possibly a thunderstorm high near 82 just quickly some of the Love could you're gonna have trump you're gonna have jade advance speaking at these The two evenings the Missouri national midterm convention in Dallas
and the listing currently of speakers in addition to Trump and vans attorney general Todd blanche Health and human services secretary rfk jr Medicaid Medicare services administrator dr. Oz House and urban development secretary scott turner former white house press secretary care line levit and Donald Trump jr I think that again the Best path forward Is a message of we're digging ourselves out of a hole we can't start re-dicking Instead of simply touting the successes I believe that there also may be this theme And many Republicans are already talking about it. They have been that Democrats are just going to impeach trump again
if they regain control of the house And I don't think most people care And I don't think trump supporters care Because Democrats have made that irrelevant They have so politicized impeachment the weight that it used to carry is is completely irrelevant now particularly when it comes to trump I mean they impeach the guy when he wasn't even president to be impeached any longer That they didn't care The chief justice refused to provide to um preside over the hearings Because they weren't even legitimate because he wasn't even president of the united states. It was a show trial Not to mention the prosecution after prosecution after prosecution which fell apart fell apart
The FBI falsifying records before the fives accords something that one of their attorneys had to admit to In order to spy on the trump campaign Democrats that ran On putting him in prison Not for anything in particular just elect me and I'll do it latisha james being one of those individuals The They tried to murder him on several occasions So I don't think that It's a real rallying cry to the average trump supporter to note that if Democrats get back in charge They're just going to impeach him again. All right so Um, I just I don't think that that moves the needle I don't know that there's anyone who's going to sit on the couch for the midterms But feel compelled to get out and vote against Democrats because they're worried that Democrats are going to impeach Trump again
I'm not only is it your relevant to trump support I don't even think it's relevant to people who hate Trump at this point. That's not a driving factor for them They just hate Trump the impeachment stuff. I don't think that's relevant to them One other notation and I think we need to be realistic about this I Do believe there are a number of establishment Democrats particularly in the senate who have demonstrated through their behavior They want to lose power Because they want to get past the trump era They Want to get Republican voters back under their thumb Get back to a place where Republican voters were obedient like Democrat voters are today and just voted for whomever they were told This is something that whether people on new acknowledge it or not
Was the relationship between the Republican party and the voters up until trump came along They they they're constantly telling the voters This is who you have to vote for because they are the ones who can reach across the aisle They are the ones who can get Democrat voters The irony is all of the claims that they would make unfulfilled about other nominees like bringing up independence and increasing Hispanic voters And getting these blue collar Democrat workers to vote Republicans The only one who actually ever did that was Donald Trump They want to get back to the way it was before where they told you no Bob Gold's the guy you got to support Up john McCain's the guy got to support up Mitt Romney's the guy you got to support all of these mediocre candidates That were more interested in getting along with Democrats than actually fulfilling excuse me campaign promises And you see it in the US senate
Corning Tillis of course they're angry because the voters had enough of them And so part of its spite part of it is to punish Republican voters But the big picture for those individuals is to sabotage the elections so that They can say see I told you so this is what happens when you don't listen to us There's another category of Republicans that It's a combination of reality and rationalization about losing the midterms Let's look realistically Let's not the senate the senate is a different ballgame because of potential supreme court openings And if Democrats were to get control of the senate which I don't think Republicans are really truly fearing right now
They recognize that that is a possibility But I don't think that they see it as Near the worry that there should be for Republicans in the house If Democrats were to get control of the senate then if there were some window In which you know during this two-year period there was the need for a supreme court replacement I Honestly, I don't know what that would look like because any I guess it would just sit empty Probably until the next administration Because anybody that Trump would nominate they clearly would not support I mean arguably you can win federal man over but you know people like Morkowski and Collins within probably side with the Democrats But what about the house What can if Democrats regain control of the house? Let's just look at this realistically
For the two years leading up to the presidential election. What are they going to do? Now they said they're going to impeach again irrelevant to the average American in fact I would argue that that would probably be a welcome to Republicans who want to take the White House in 2028 To have two years to show at the American people see this is what happens when they're in power Here they had the opportunity in order to show you the things that they want to do In order to get us back on track and they're just going back to the same old playbook of just punishing political enemies The Problem with being in power is you is your responsible for all of the things that have been happening in the minds of the voter and Should Republicans continue to retain the house in the Senate and don't do anything real meaningful in which people are like
Yeah, we want even more of this That could be a real problem for Republicans retaking the White House in 2028 And I'm sure that there are a lot of Republicans and maybe even Trump in Trump world maybe Trump himself Look at this and say Maybe it's not the worst thing in the world for Democrats to get control of the house Because that will at least put them front and center that will result in this massive continued power struggle between the socialist and the communist At the Democrat Party because you think there's infighting now waiting till they're in control of Congress And wait until some of those socialist Democrats are putting forth some of their plans for America People already don't care for them wait until they get that much closer to reality That is going to be a great campaigning point for Republicans in 2028 But by the way, I'm not arguing That this is necessarily a good thing. I mean Republicans should never want Democrats to get in charge particularly to quote show the American people how bad it will be
Republicans should be a party that are able to say look at how wonderful things are with us in charge If they're relying on how bad Democrats are that's a failure of a party. It's a failure of leadership But I'm talking about where we are today On the flip side of it Let's say that you're Trump and you're okay, so you think well, but if Democrats are in charge we're not going to be able to get anything done over the next two years What are Republicans planning on doing in the next two years? This is a party that can't even get the save act through Now while they're able to do it in the house as long as you have these establishment Republicans led by Thun in the Senate Nothing's getting through them. That's meaningful in a positive way. So Is there any I'm just unless there's something secret that Republicans are deciding to keep hidden from the American people From the congressional leadership position here Maybe it'll be unveiled this week of this midterm election
But I don't know of any plan that they have saying hey, we need two more years because here are the things that we're going to do And we aren't going to be able to get them done unless we're in power. I just don't know what those things are So if that is in fact the reality And Republicans do retain control of everything going into the 2028 election from a marketing standpoint and narrative standpoint That could be very very difficult particularly if people aren't feeling a lot better about things And they may You could have a tremendous turnaround and suddenly everything is wonderful and ticker-taped parades people are feeling much better That's going to be a different scenario But barring that occurring If Republicans are in charge Could potentially continue to be in charge house in Senate make it a little more difficult
In the 2028 election, but if Democrats are in charge they're not going to be able to get me legislation through There you go. Well, I'll raise taxes. They'll do this or that I it'll all likely die in the Senate, but even if somehow it passed the Senate Trump's going to veto it And then you have real life examples of this is who the Democrat party is Is this really who you want running the White House? Is this who you really want to continue running the House? You gave them an opportunity to prove themselves and this is what they spent their time doing Like I said, I'm not arguing that that is a strategy of winners I do believe that there are some Republicans who have surrendered to losing because they have a loser mentality And they rationalize it by saying oh well look it'll work out better force in the long run And arguably that could be true
But Winning because your opponent is so bad Is not a healthy sign for any political party springfields talk 101. I'm Nick Reed coming up Friday There is a Local for less half-price deal for the grand country music hall Two adult tickets for the grand country music hall for just 50 bucks how I I shouldn't say I'm guessing but I am guessing because I just don't have any more information on this I'm guessing that these are like vouchers that can be used towards any show While I mentioned this Early it is Friday If you like going to live shows it's something that you want to mark on your calendar But there are a number of other half-price deals currently active at ksgf.com And there are also a number of coming soon so you can see what is around the corner
some of them that you can purchase currently Two adventure seeker fly ride combo tickets this is adventure seekers in Branson Retail price 76 bucks you can get now two for 38 Five guys $20 gift cards for 10 bucks five guys burgers Half-price tickets to springfield little theater lay miz And half-price for big slice golf in games As well as half-price one golf simulator bay hour at x golf in springfield so There are a number of different Options that are available for you there if you either like food or entertain in particular There if you go to ksgf.com in the upper right hand corner There are the three little lines and you click on that and then you'll see Ozarks for less click on that and then you'll see not only those that you can go ahead and purchase now
But those that will be available in the future Let's see here The premier drooping company text line the doom and gloom talk not making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside about being a conservative well listen I here's my thing I'm a Christian So I know in reality all of this stuff here Yeah No, it's how you are as a person In terms of your relationship with christ and you know that so that so this is all I don't want to say meaningless because it is important but I know in the end The things that people do here and humans do here and and You know that I'm I'm not going to be bothered by it in the least When my time comes or some may say that's a way of saying staying sane
All right, well, maybe it is it's not my belief That it's just you know a way to stay sane But that is how it's when I I'm feeling that same way like what's the point like you know what This stuff here isn't really truly in the end what matters Now The the message that I had if you were wanting to I guess have some Sort of hope out of it is that again if democrats Get congress because I know it's going to be an emotional gut punch They're not going to be able to pass anything that trump's going to sign They're just going to impeach him which is meaningless And it is going to further harm their They're Messaging going into the 2028 elections, which is a quote big one because of the presidential election as as being a party that doesn't do anything other than just go after political opposition
And I think also it'll pull for front and center. I mean this civil war stuff going on within the Democrat party Between the socialist the communist and the democrats You just wait until they get power of congress I mean that's going to be one hell of a show And this ludicrous notion that a lot of the establishment democrats are telling their supporters in themselves that oh Well, once we get in control will we'll be able to control them Okay Part of me almost wants to watch that play out
