Netlix Opening Day Annoys Fans

Now I'll open up the warm up show today talking about a Yankee fan account that said opening day is sacred and it needs to be on the local RSNs and then mess with all the streaming services throughout the rest of the year. But I know more people today that had cut the cord and have Netflix and then went and got whatever MLB app now is having you pay for your local team or the Gotham sports app or whatever. More people that do that that have Netflix that are sitting around doing the RSN Regional Sports Network deal.

1:01So I don't believe there's going to be many Yankee fans anywhere in the country that are going to be flustered by this game being on Netflix. I mean there could be a number of fans that don't have Netflix can't afford it whatever. Sure but I don't know if they're showing it for free or not. But Netflix is cheaper than cable. I know. I know but it's basically not TV as we knew TV it's it's it's appointment TV for movies and shows. Yeah. And now they're getting into live sports just to make themselves a little bit more relevant which I think is smart and they lost a deal with one of brothers. So here we go. So now they're going to try to spend some money in this in this vein. The one thing I will say about all these streaming services when they do go into this they don't go into it with novices they bring in the people that know the sport that know how to you know to shoot the sport from a director standpoint and to talk about the sport from the announcer standpoint they may add a few different variables in there to enhance what

2:02they believe is the entertainment around the sport. But once the game starts it's going to be people that we know voices that we know and they and listen CC about the end of the night. Yeah. That's going to be great. Yeah. That's going to be fine. He's awesome. I mean he's one of those guys that you know I'm sure he still do it as podcastly sporadically but he just was such a natural when he got into the media business. So that's going to be great and they got you know one guy they got hundred pens from the giants they got the you know CC for the Yankees and it'll be fine. I mean I there's been some of these broadcasts that have been especially major league baseball where they've had a couple of issues like whether it be the Roku games and issues of Roku games and then also the Apple TV Friday night broadcast that they had it was like horrendous and they had issues with peacock early on as well like 11 a.m. games. So they MLB is one of the ones as compared to the other leagues that's confused their fans the most probably because there's so many games there's 162 games and they end up on

3:03all these different games you got the prime video game now you got the Netflix game it's the same thing I mean the Yankees are on all of them now but I think when it comes to Netflix Netflix is the most common of all of that or prime video yeah because people have prime but I feel like I think Apple TV is probably I'm guessing I don't I don't know any of this I'm just thinking off the top of my head I'm thinking that Apple TV is slipped a little bit I'm thinking that booboo is slipping really I do I do I just feel like it is I just feel like it's going by the wayside it's going to get gobbled up by these these other behemoths and I and you know the RSNs are having obviously we know about all the trouble with them now this is one of the reasons why the Gotham app is because of MSG and yes coming together right it's just nobody really knows where this thing is going to end let's put it that way I think it's all trending towards streaming and it's all going to be that way but where are you going to get the things that you want to get

4:05and how much is it going to cost yeah that is true and it's been going on for years now and no one's really figured out the perfect situation I'm pretty happy with my situation but then again I do have we we get a code for streaming from MLB because we're in the media now they're not everybody gets and that's a huge deal so I know that not everybody gets that thing with the blackout restrictions but I know they're allowing you now I believe at least allowing you now to pay MLB is extra to get the blackout off the streaming of MLB dot com isn't that correct that you're allowed to do that this year for the Metz yes but you have to subscribe to again it's like through SNY through the MLB but the Metz will allow you to do that okay all right so you can that's that's going to be now too the NFL offseason is here but the action never stops the draft is right around the corner and he'd the call NFL podcast with Dan hands us and Mark Cessler is your pro football destination prospects team needs and pick by pick coverage of draft weekend he'd the call covers all

5:09things NFL and we have fun no fake hot takes are boring data dumps here just entertaining football talk from your favorite buds at the bar so come hang out with the he the call heroes for football news analysis and Murth all the Murth follow and listen to the he'd the call NFL podcasts wherever you get your podcasts it's just it's never ending this is why I think that there's going to be a reckoning for me there's going to be a reckoning in college sports before anything else because eventually professors trustees board members things of that nature are going to really be on what are we doing here in athletics yeah how much money are we losing sure when this used to be a a thing that was actually making money and how much money are these players making and how long are they staying here are they really part of the community I mean there's going to be a lot of those questions that are going to be starting to be asked more and more and more and more and it's going to be interesting to see you know the if there's an adverse effect that is that is that is starting
