Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Morning Run. It's Friday, April 3rd. I made me robot. I'm TJ Holmes, and on this Friday, all the top, the thing we would encourage you to do this weekend. It's dance with a stranger. What are we telling people to do? Dance with a stranger. You always say these are long weeks. They're sometimes depressing weeks when you look at the news, and we're in it every day, and we just started here and rolls out like, I'm so uninspired, and we had a great song playing. And really, the lyrics are dance with a stranger. Look around the room, lock eyes with somebody you don't know. Go over, say, how you doing, listen to the answer, and commiserate. It should be our national theme song. Just dance with a stranger. You just get to know each other better. I'm in a mood this morning, just over all the ugliness in the world.

3:01There's been a lot lately. You look at the headlines, and they can get you down. I know we were literally just having this conversation. Just to, sometimes you just have to stop, pause, look around you. You will find blessings. You will find reasons to be grateful. You will find reasons to be inspired that there is good in the world. You know what? Saw a story this morning, two-year-old kid, ring in the bell. Beat cancer. That was a great story. That was a beautiful story. That was a great story. So let's start with that. But hello to you all on this Friday. We have a very important, very busy, very breaking news, even in a lot of ways, morning run this morning. We're about to take this run with you all after we just came back from a quick two-mile run here in New York. The weather's getting a little better. So we're going to chance to make these runs before we actually do news. It's not so cold. It was nice and foggy. The sun was just rising. It was very Stephen Kingy. Okay. So you all forgive me if you hear mine. I'm actually still wearing my running jacket. It's a little loud. I don't know how you kept those sweaty clothes on. I had to take... Oh my gosh.

4:01I was dying when I walked into this steamy apartment. Wow. So folks enjoy this smelly version of the morning run. And we're going to start on the run this morning. We're going to give you the latest with the shutdown. Here is the latest. It's still happening. And we don't know when it's going to end. Back to Europe's. Yeah. You could just do that every single day and nothing will have changed. Yes. Trump is though going to sign an order to make sure that the Department of Homeland Security employees, all of them, not just TSA officers, that they will get paychecks because this shutdown has no end in sight because now Republicans in the house are not going along with the Senate version like we thought they would. Yep. So back to square one. We actually do not know. We know all of them are still gone and I expected back to April 13th. So at least until that long with the update is there is not much of one things I've taken a little bit of a step backwards, continuing here on the run. President Trump issued another strongly worded vague yet specific threat to Iran overnight.

5:02That is so well worded, babe. All right. So here is what he said on true social. Our military, the greatest and most powerful by far anywhere in the world, hasn't even started destroying what's left in Iran. Wow. Bridges next, then electric power plants. Wow. Exclamation point. New regime leadership knows what has to be done and has to be done fast. Exclamation point. These are the, this is the reasonable regime. I should go about that now. The reasonable regime. Yeah. The third one that they're now talking to. Right. That cannot be named. Oh, yes. So his words, yes. We heard this from the president. This was in an overnight true social post. But his words that post and the speech this week have done little to help with the price of oil or the price of gas. Those are going in the wrong direction. Oil prices shot up again yesterday in a concerning way. US crude oil was up 12% yesterday. The highest one day jump we've seen in six years. Oh, my goodness. An international crude prices of oil also up 8% and you know what that all translate to.

6:04That translates to all of us paying a lot more for gas. The average price of gas in this country just keeps on engine up each and every day. We're now at four oh nine a gallon. And nobody likes. I know it all. Nobody likes to hear from somebody. I told you so. Right. We told you so about this next one. Anybody can see this coming. Yes. First it was jet blue. Now United. Yes. United Airlines announced it to going to increase checked back fees. Now they did not specifically say why however the mood is widely. The move is widely seen as a way to offset those increased fuel costs that we just have been mentioning. So this applies to tickets purchased starting today. The price is going up $10 per bag. I was trying to think why they went this route instead of the price of tickets. But I guess most of the most immediate flights tickets have already been sold. Correct. But when you look at tickets somebody might you might go on there and look at a ticket price and go. Oh, that was too high. That was too high. You see a cheaper one.

7:04You buy the ticket. Then you get to the airport and you go what the hell there's a bag. They've already got your ticket. Right. So that's so true. That's the way it goes about. Some of these if you go with three check bags it goes from 150 bucks to 200 bucks. Yeah. This is a $10 increase on the others. Yeah. And then I found out the hard way when getting my daughter across the country to college that if you have a over. Well, what is it? The heavy is over 50 pounds a bag. It's $100 for the first checked bag. Yeah. That's all y'all. Y'all the other stuff. Y'all the other stuff. Learn that the hard way. I continue on the run here on this Friday morning. It seems like a weird time robes to fire the guy in charge of the army. But that's exactly what Pete Heck set has done now. Army Chief of Staff General Randy George has been forced into early retirement that is effective immediately. And according to a lot of folks who cover the Pentagon they say the folks behind this general are extremely upset. At this decision, this is not going over well with a lot of folks. The Pentagon did thank him for his service and a statement, but also said it was time for a change of leadership at the army.

8:09He has been Army Chief of Staff since 2023. He served under President Biden. So yes, it is time to say goodbye apparently, but as you point out a strange time. Yeah, usually four year terms. So he had a couple more year or at least it was expected to go through next year at least. They also should mention he got rid of two other top generals yesterday. One of them was the head of the chaplains. Wow, the general who was in charge of the chaplains. A lot of talk lately about chaplains and Christianity in our military. I continue on the run here. Now President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondy yesterday. This news was everywhere, replacing her with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. But robes, it was interesting waiting to hear from her curious what we were going to hear. And I guess this didn't surprise you. I was curious if she was going to scorch the earth. No, because she was the person who was charged with scorching the earth for folks who had done just what she could have done to President Trump. It doesn't end well. So yes, she issued a statement late yesterday saying she'd be working to ensure a smooth transition over the next month,

9:12and said she will then be, quote, moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this administration. He mentioned that vague job as well. Don't know what it is, and she used almost the exact same language. So I'm curious to see how this works out. At least they're on the same page. No, I went on to say that leading President Trump's historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure than the honor of a lifetime. All right. Next up on the run, the Sheriff's Department released body camp footage of officers approaching and eventually arresting Tiger Woods after his SUV accident last week. But there is something of note. Do you can see Tiger Woods walking back? He was off in the woods towards the officer saying, thank you so much. All right, you got it. Bye. So who was he talking to is the question. So in the video, the officer asked him to stay close to the scene. Tiger responds to him saying, yeah, I was just talking with the President. So of course Tiger Woods has been seen golfing with the President. And I think they are considered friends and also Woods is dating Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr.

10:17Yes, that's right. And the President also spoke of Woods crash last week when he was talking with reporters. He didn't say they were just friends. He went further than that. He said, I feel so bad. He got some difficulty. There was an accident. And that's all I know. A very close friend of mine. He's an amazing person and an amazing man. But some difficulty. I don't want to talk about it. All right. Well, the body camp video goes on to show Woods taking a feel sobriety test. He's been charged with DUI after refusing a urine test. He was a judge. He has granted him permission, though, to travel out of the country to seek treatment. This was a one vehicle. I say one vehicle. Only one two vehicles were involved. But the other one, he just kind of clipped. He clipped it. So it's not that issue. Do I see it right? That guy is going. He's lured you up. Yes, that isn't shocking. No one was injured. We should point out. But what we hear Tiger Woods saying is that he looked down at his cell phone. He said he was changing his radio station. But he has pleaded not guilty. So there is a lot more to come. What? Yeah, that's what he said. So he was changing radio stations and had been looking down at his phone. That's what he told the officers while he was passing a truck.

11:19Oh, this is a good time to switch. You know, I don't like this song. Right. Right when I'm passing a truck when I've got two, uh, yes, um, pills in my pocket. You have some good passing music sometimes. Oh, geez. Alrighty. Uh, next up on the run, a judge threw out most of the claims actress Blake Lively made against actor director Justin Valdoni. Inter lawsuit that seemed to generate constant headlines that were constantly confusing us so much so that we barely covered it because it was just so overwhelming. But maybe this will simplify things 10 out of 13 claims the judge threw out, including some of the most damning accusations of sexual harassment. Well, I throw my hands. I really, I don't fully understand what happened here. Who did this book? It ends with us. Uh, Colleen Hoover. Oh, big deal, right? Oh, yes. I read all of them. They're amazing. It's $350 million. It's a shame. It is. That this is attached to this movie. The judge was not making much of a judgment on the merits of the harassment claims.

12:20Instead, he actually determined that Blake Lively didn't have the right to bring them in the first place because of certain legal requirements, jurisdiction and all kinds of other stuff. So all that stuff's out. It's going to move forward with breach of contract and retaliation claims. Still, they still have this trial set for May 8th. The her attorney said they still look forward to going to court. It's just this was probably in a mess. And you know what? More so than anything, it gave an insight into how Hollywood sometimes works with folks behind the scenes, planting stories, going after each other. It was ugly. Ugly? Yes. And it's going to be messy as hell in that courtroom. You know, all eyes are going to be on that. And both sides, as you pointed out, said they cannot wait to have their day in court. So this is going to be something. Right next up on the run, their email was briefly down. The toilet was on the fritz. Windows apparently needed cleaning and a computer wasn't working. Just a day in the life of astronauts in outer space. Or the robot homes house. Exactly. They're just like us astronauts. These are the latest updates we're getting from the Artemis 2 mission.

13:21This is kind of cool. We're finding out about the technical stuff about the mission, but it is cool to see how they're living up there. But yesterday, the four astronauts successfully conducted the last major step that set the Orion spacecraft on its trajectory around the moon and back to Earth. It's called the Transluner Injection Burn. For those of you who don't understand, just want to get you caught up. You know, well, so on the inside, we understand this. But NASA everybody understood those archives. Yes, of course. I have no idea. Never heard of that before. NASA officials say it was flawless. And this is always cool to hear. They have left the Earth's orbit. Yeah, that's what Transluner Injection Burn. It like basically propels you out of the Earth's orbit. Yes, I had to look that up. The astronauts had a video conference with reporters late last night. I thought this was interesting. First and foremost, they gave a shout out to their families. They said at that point, this was around 11 p.m. last night, they had not yet gotten to speak with their loved ones yet. I imagine you are just so anxious to hear from your loved one when they blast it off to space and you don't get to text them or say, hey, how to go like nothing, right?

14:21They also just talked about the beauty. And some of them have seen it before. But they say they were still amazed at how beautiful the entire Earth looked. The globe looked from pole to pole. They said they could see the northern lights from the outer space. Like how cool is that? Anyway, they're going to take them about four days to get to the moon. So we're expecting to get some images of the moon come Monday. That's amazing that we can get all this. We can communicate the way we are. And you know they'll be doing interviews and all this stuff. It's awesome. The signal with the bottom of home goods over here. So true. Marshalls. Marshalls, that's it. All right, stay with us here on this Friday morning run when we come back. It's constant ropes for this guy, but at nine twenty one last night he made time to make a statement that does he feel is important? Okay. Can anyone else try to figure this out? This is what the president put on truth social. Is Bruce Springsteen going to sue his plastic surgeon?

20:34Question mark. That's the whole post. Did I miss something? I know he's upset Bruce Springsteen has been outspoken about the president. He's written some songs about Minneapolis. He's on a tour. Okay. What did I miss about the plastic surgery? He's just trying to make him embarrassed. Yes, just trying to find something he can say you're a fool. You're an idiot. Just trying to make fun of him and get a rise out of him, I guess. At nine twenty last night, he just sends an insult to Bruce Springsteen. Via true social. Oh my goodness. So yes, he was tweeting some other stuff as well. I didn't understand that is Bruce Springsteen known for something about his face as a thing? I mean, I think he might have done some tweaking. Some tweaking. You know, when men tweak, it seems a little bit even more obvious. Sometimes than even when women tweak. But yes. Wow. Okay. Might have done some tweaking. All right. I could do you on the run here now. Yes. Final four underway for the men and women this weekend. Women are up first. They'll have the semi-finals tonight. The championship will be on Sunday. Then the men will have their semi-finals Saturday night.

21:36And the championship will be on Monday. But tonight, Yukon versus South Carolina. Seven o'clock rematch of the 2025 national championship that Yukon won. And then Texas, UCLA will be playing tonight at 930. Again, a reminder. All number one seeds do not miss this final four. These are the absolute best teams, best coaches, best players in the country. So I know what we're doing tonight. All right. Next up on the run. It's a girl. Congratulations to Josh Allen and Haley Steinfeld, who welcomed their first child this week as TJT's going to the rake. And that's all we got folks because we don't know the name, the way, the birthday, nothing. We just know that the baby exists. And who their parents are. We had a baby. Yes. And we know it's a girl. We do know it's a girl. That's very fair thing. That's something. Congrats to them. I couldn't keep up. They are married. She now is the pregnancy before they got married or I can't remember. But they are visually married now, aren't they? I can't remember to deny that. I don't know. I think they are. But congrats. They are sweet, cute. They are cute. I like them a lot.

22:36And the designers are claiming to have created robes. What? This is the purse we need. Really? Prada, Louis, not making enough for you. You need a T. Rex purse. They have made a purse, robes. And please explain to me how do you make a leather purse? And that leather is Tyrannosaurus Rex level. Yes. Okay. So apparently scientists were able to take fragments of fossilized T. Rex collagen. And from that, develop lab-grown what they're calling T. Rex leather. So right now, the leather that they developed is one of a kind. It's in a collector's purse. It's on display at Amsterdam's Art Zoo Museum. Okay. It's going to be auctioned off starting at half a million dollars. I'm asking though, does anybody have a problem with this? So no. In fact, they're actually trying to say this company and three other companies announced as well that they are developing lab-grown T. Rex leather as well so that they can produce this for the masses. But what they're trying to do is say, hey, we don't have to use animal leather to have quality designer luxury products.

23:38That this can be just as cool and special and be from basically fossilized cells of a T. Rex where we can create a leather-like product that would basically supplant actually using real leather. So a lot of people who are into vegan leather and don't want to actually consume or have leather products, this is an alternative expensive though. Because it's extinct, it's not the same. Because the animal doesn't exist anymore. Correct. Well, and it's not actually you're not using an animal carcass you're creating a lab-grown version of the leather. And some people are saying this is BS. So it's not actually from a T. Rex? Well, it is. I'm so confused. I don't know how science, I'm not a scientist, but somehow, if you can somehow replicate fossilized collagen, and some people will say, give me a break. Give me a break. Really ridiculous marketing campaign to try and sell a product you're claiming is luxury. Okay, who's that group? I would like to join it. Yeah. But it is cool if you look up the pictures, like the way they have it displayed under this T. Rex.

24:38Yeah, it's so cool. Okay, so look when I write on our Type 10 T. Rex bag. Okay, there are some knockoffs. Okay. There is a special one in Amsterdam that will go to a lucky person who has a ton of money. Oh, yeah. All right, on this Friday, we have our quote of the day. You know what, you were actually looking for some inspiration. And I like this because it gives you a daily step by step. Here's the quote of the day. Just for today. Be kind to yourself. Oh boy. Be patient with those you love. That's a problem. Be present in all that you do. And then tomorrow begin again. But I like the idea. You take it one day at a time, one step at a time. Don't get overwhelmed, but what are we going to do? Where are we going? What's happening next? Right now, just remember to be kind to yourself. You don't remember to do that. A lot of folks don't remember. Just be kind to yourself. And then be patient with those you love and be present in all that you do. That is going to help keep in mind those three steps for today.
