To paraphrase BJ Barham, Michael McDermott has come out of the darkness to be the light.

His illustrious career goes back to the late 80s. For many folks he is the best songwriter you've never heard of. For others he is the voice of multiple generations. His most recent record St. Paul's Boulevard is my favorite thing he has done. McDermott builds a world and trusts himself and his collaborators to guide but not lead the listener. It's an immersive experience much like this conversation with the man himself.
