Welcome to the weekly round up part 1. You've reached talking with Dr. Terry, 180 seconds to a better you message number 608 and I'm Dr. Terry Wordsbacher. Karen talked about her writing ministry but I think she also has a kindness ministry. Given all she does to support other people, she said she really wants to bring light and joy to others. Debbie wished Dr. Gilbert would announce his seminars five to seven days in advance. I'm laughing because I think most of us do but it's never going to happen. I think he just does them as the spirit hits. It's a great idea but I have no input into that. Tim talked about identities and labels and the role that ego plays and all that we do. He said he wondered if we took ego out of the equation how much different would it be? I've become so much more aware of labels lately. It's as if they're winged animals flying around like mosquitoes and every day there's some issue about labels in my life. I know it's telling me something I just have to figure out what it is.
Jay reminded me of a great leader he had who challenged him that he had more in him than he thought and that got him going on the path he's on now. Before that he didn't do the extra stuff just as Dr. Gilbert talked about. Now he continues to try to create ways he can expose people to the professional and personal growth they're capable of. He's an influencer of the best kind. Karen said that joy and abundance are two of her favorite words. She also gave us a great affirmation. I am accepting all the abundance the universe has for me now. I am accepting all the abundance the universe has for me now. I may have messed that up because it's hard for me to read my handwriting after a day or two. I want to use her as an example though and I hope she won't mind. She said that if she gets her children's book published she'll come up with an abundance goal. She has an idea about getting kids out in nature more and I think that's terrific. She said if or when her book is published then she'll look into creating something. This is a great example of what one would think is an excellent outlook and goal.
What I'd like to see though is Karen saying I have two goals. One is that my book is published and the second is that I have created project nature. That's my words just as an example. With these two as goals there's no if then component. She can and should be working on both at one time. The way I listened to it and of course that's only one side and not a real conversation was that creating project nature is contingent upon publishing the book. They need to be simultaneous goals with planning for each and taking steps towards each all along the way at the same time. Let the universe decide where the funds will come from and also let the universe decide which will be achieved first. It might surprise us. Tim talked about how giving a present makes you happier than receiving one and I totally agree. Coach Clifford added that today is a gift so we shouldn't waste it. We'll continue this tomorrow. Have a diamond day everybody.
Mary talked about how Jesus can't be outgiven. And in my opinion we can't be either if we put our minds to it. Not as a competition but wouldn't it be great to become a giving machine? How many of you immediately thought something like yeah if I had a lot of money that means your primary thoughts about abundance and giving are centered around money. But remember you can give anything and abundance is in every area of your life. So you can become a giving machine right now. Frank told me about how he spent his whole life giving to charitable organizations his time his money his mental processes and anything else they needed. Melissa said she thought AI had helped her ask better questions. I agree. Frank gave us another tenant from NLP and we should all remember this. You are responsible for the results of your communication. You are responsible for the results of your communication. You, not the other person. He said he would use a children's coloring book with a simple drawing. He'd have two people sit back to back. One would describe what is to be drawn and the other would ask clarifying questions. He found that the description they gave and the quality of the questions asked determine
the outcome of the drawing, not the quality or ability of the artist. Matt was talking to me about a conversation he had with his sister and how he was trying to get his point across but later realized he might not have been as clear as he could have been. But what rang the bell in my head was the phrase we all used, get my point across. I think if that's our goal we're not really having a conversation we're actually giving a lecture, a decree of sorts, we're not inviting any back and forth or other people's opinions. So let's think about what a better mode of her goal is when entering a conversation rather than getting our point across. Tim said so many times he's been sure he's communicated everything and the other person is understood but they know it always and I think we all can identify with that Tim. He notes that if he says, okay walk me through it, A, he shows the other person he's interested in their knowledge and B, he'll see what he didn't really communicate that well. He agreed that 99% of the time miscommunication is not the receivers fault. Holly remarked that she had decision paralysis on a home project but then went and saw
it help from someone more knowledgeable and experienced in the subject. I think that's a great way to help break the paralyzing situations. Regarding 9-11, Jay said he loved the sense of pride and unity that we had that day for and for a while afterwards and wished as they think we all do, we had that back now. Frank odd mean by remembering his good friends who were firefighters and lost their lives that day, especially a man named Chuck who was also Frank's hunting partner. Maybe we could all take one minute this weekend to silently thank them for all they gave and the whole Frank in our loving thoughts.
