LSU About To Get Kicked Out Of The SEC?

Southeastern 16

About this episode

The SEC filed an amendment to its federal lawsuit against LSU, Lane Kiffin and school officials on Tuesday, which seeks the authority for the SEC to expel LSU from the league. Chris Lee, Jay Greeson, and Graham Doty share their thoughts on what it means for the SEC and LSU and how things could unfold in the battle between the two parties.

This is believed one network every topic everywhere. All right, welcome into Southeast from 16. We get we got to ring ring the alarm bells with all the news going on. Uh, the LSU news that bombshell that was just dropped this afternoon. All of our content, by the way, is brought to you by fan dual. So we got Jay Grease and we got Chris Lee. I'm Graham Doty. So Chris has you, you've been covering this for a while now, putting stuff on your message board. And then also, I mean, just updating us as well, throughout the course of the process. So you've been all over this like, what can you tell us about what has been happening and then the news that broke today involving LSU in the SEC? Well, first of all, this fan dual of day now keeping odds on whether LSU gets kicked out of the league or not, because that could get very interesting. Yeah, what are those odds, Jay? Yeah. Only only half kidding because of the is kids say it just got real today. And look, we've been following this.

Some Ross Dellinger and some other people and been doing some great reporting. But I've been talking to people. There's sources here and there for, I don't know a while. I think a lot of there was a lot of tension. I was told going into the league meeting this spring and destiny. It wasn't necessarily LSU. In fact, I think LSU was part of it, but there were some other schools involved. I think there's been a little bit of a, I guess a split. And look, first of all, let's, let's clear this up. Everybody's been a little guilty in all this. Like the train is going off the rails for a while, the tampering, all the things. But at some point, you get in a room and you say, Hey, this is how we'd like to run our league. Let's cut out the chaos. These are the rules and we're going to follow them. And it's always been explained to me is it's like a country club where, you know, if we are all in a country club, we agree we're going to be in it. Jake recent just can't come in and grab dinner shirtless. Can, but he might get kicked out of the club.

So that's kind of a background that I'm joining. Right, right. You might not be invited this club, but hear me out. Okay. So these, these things have been going on for a while. I know, I don't know exactly what was discussed in the league meetings and destiny, but I know that there's been some tension. And of course, what happened over the summer just as we get some kind of calmness, you got a gazillion quarter orders and all those things. And again, I'm not saying LSU is the only guilty party here. You've been a lot of, been a lot of bad players in this at times, but there has been sort of an agreement of, okay, this is how we're going to do things going forward. We'd like some law and order. We'd like to sort of, with the anything goes any time thing and get some rules and standards. And so here's what has kind of been happening from while from what I have been told. This, this thing that happened with Kiffin in the portal, this is kind of my interpretation of it. It's like when you, you break up your girlfriend or your boyfriend or whatever, it's not that, you know, the fact that somebody was 10 minutes late or whatever to

dinner, it's just kind of like the final straw. And I think that's what this has been. This thing with with Kiffin and NFL in the portal. And what I'm told, the SEC's got the goods on them in terms of they can prove that not only was this thing where they were trying to get kids out of NFL camps and back to campus, you know, something that just happened, it was something that that LSU and Lane Kiffin had encouraged lawsuits. And so that, that was a big no no right there. So what that piece of ammunition, I think that was kind of the thing that I gather his set this whole thing off. And I'll give you another example. It's like a fantasy football league. You ever been to fantasy football league? We're like a guy only trades with his best friend. I mean, his best friends out of it and all of a sudden you make a trade and he gets his three best players like stuff that you just don't do. If you want to keep cohesiveness and keep things together. So I think that's where we are with this is that was sort of a last, straw-ish kind of thing.

What I was told was that the SEC in the federal ruling that it filed, it was kind of hoping that that would just kind of take care of things. In other words, let's not have to get this point where we have these discussions about kicking a member out. I think LSU is a charter member too. They are. But that's where we are at the moment. I thought what would happen when I woke up this morning is we'd be waiting for a federal ruling. And that would just sort of settle things and things would just kind of play out between now and then I don't know what's happened. In the last couple of days, but now we get this bombshell. If you haven't seen it, I'm sure you have by now that the SEC is calling an emergency meeting to kick LSU out of the league. It's I've seen it CNN's gotten an article that athletics got it. We can read or not read the statement. I guess at this point, people can read it on their own. But that's where we are. What I understand is that the teams that have been the most, the schools that have been the most upset about this for a while.

I think Georgia has been the most upset. From my understanding their president has been on fire about this for a while, about just getting everybody in line with they set rules. Florida is there with them and both the Mississippi schools. And I'm not saying other schools aren't hacked off about it too. I think a lot of them probably are. Those are the ones that I know for sure. If kind of been, in fact, what I heard this spring was that the Mississippi schools were were very upset about it. And then I think the Georgia president is really sort of taken to lead. And I don't know how we got from from that to this suit being filed this morning. I've got some pieces missing in what I've been told here. But that's roughly guys how we got here. Jay, what would you make of it? Well, lots of digest from what Chris said, including the fancy football analogy, which I hate that guy. And I felt obligated to take my shirt off, but I've already had lunch. Look, I think in the macro, look, just to get it out there,

none of us think they're going to kick LSU out of the league, right? I would be absolutely blown away. You asked me to hand you lots and I think it's plus 10,000 at this point. It's just, it is a nuclear punishment for something that a lot of folks are trying to do. Trying to find various portal advantages and loopholes and all of those things. I think this is sanki being galvanized by the 15 O vote and feeling empowered and taking the first big step towards the SEC policing itself. By the way, one thing, a couple of commenters and mentioned Tennessee has been all near. I did hear that too. Somebody told me this morning that Tennessee had been coming around with this pretty quickly. So a couple of our all listeners and watchers have chimed in with that.

I think that is also accurate. But anyway, carry on. And we believe that's coming. And this is, this is an easy rule to enforce against the SEC. It's the biggest villain in college sports right now. So you're going to, you're going to sweep the court of public opinion 98%. But kicking LSU out is bad for the league, especially right now. Big picture wise. Yeah. Well, one other thing that I need to mention. I don't, Jay, I think ultimately you're right. I don't think this ends with LSU being kicked out. But like who had this at a vote in September that we're going to have a vote to kick LSU out of the league. And so I mean, and that's kind of the world these days in sports is I think we continue to underestimate the probability that something will happen. So I don't know that I'd go plus 10,000. I mean, like if I had to bet my life on it, I would bet that LSU remains in the league.

But the fact that we got to this point in the first place is, and here's the other thing. You're talking about a couple of principles on the LSU side. We're self-discipline in control or not exactly their strong suit. You mentioned it going to be a good one just kind of gone all all villain on this. Like you're going to have to get the and the governor is the one that essentially runs that program. You're going to have to get a governor and a football coach. In line, you're all the other thing is the TV people, but there's a lot of TV money. Like we've talked about this to a LSU and I don't think this is like a driver. But like, who is it that leads all the baseball games on the plus network in the tenants? It's LSU. It's LSU. You've got a big audience there, not just football, but other sports too. So what's going to happen if like if the SEC just goes off and says, hey, look guys, we're kicking LSU out the league. And then LSU, you know, ESPN reads about it in its own on its own website.

That's not going to go over well because ESPN is very invested in the SEC. There's there's going to be a money loss if that happens. That's going to factor into it too. So it's not just as simple as we're angry at you. We're going to get mad and out of spite where to get you out of the league. Those things are also going to play in as well. Yeah. Some points that I think now I'm enough people are talking about. I'm going to do something which I don't do very much of and like in defense of LSU. Like I get it from their fans point of view. You do see these other schools adding players that were in preseason camp, like all that stuff. Like South Carolina got a kicker last week. And like, no, it doesn't catch nearly the amount of, you know, public attention as much as it does when LSU does it. I get how that can be frustrating as an LSU fan. But here's the difference. Like Lane Kiffin is your head coach. He's a lightning rod and this like this is what it is with him.

Like he takes up so much oxygen and all these other schools that are doing it. They kind of get ignored and it gets swept under the rug. Like the Texas offensive lineman that came back and like everything going on with Kentucky. So that's a part of it. But again, this to me, this whole thing comes down to. You got LSU and you got the commissioner and the SEC. And they've been playing a giant game of chicken this whole time. Nobody thought that we would get to September the eighth and nothing would get resolved. And so like here we are. And to me, like the, this is the SEC. Like one last who ride like, okay, like you better do what we say or else. Because they got this vote scheduled in two days on September the 10th. And like we'll see what happens from there. But I kind of think the SEC would was thinking that LSU was just going to like.

You know, make a short turn and avoid hitting the SEC head on up to this point and having. So that's where we are right now. It's got a little pantal field to it too, Chris. It is. You start taking it by taking away the phone. And then you threaten to be grounded. And then for those of us a certain age raising the South, then you got to go pick up a switch. And because here comes the. The mother load. Look, man, hey. There's something to be said with that brand, that coach. And their commitment across all athletics. They could go get a Notre Dame like TV contract tomorrow as an end maybe, maybe Jay. The difference is that they're Notre Dame, but the difference is Notre Dame is in the ACC. Like everything else. Yeah, but that's a big deal though. It is. But you don't think the big 12 would line up to take them in everything else.

You don't think what 100% because you got you've got to be. You've got another you've got a like-minded school in the big 12 in Texas tech. That you know, I think also does not really want to be governed by much of anything. Like I think big 12 is where LSU would land. If this went nuclear, which I don't I think. Look good. If you just tune in, I don't think LSU is eventually going to get kicked out. But again, the fact that we got here is remarkable. And Graham, I mean, you're right. They're not Notre Dame because of the religion, the religious affiliation that a lot of people feel tied to. But I mean, that kind of see less miles as Rudy asked in kind of a levelable doofus kind of way. But here's what they do have. They have the most talked about person in the sport. Yep. There's no debate about that. And I mean, he's he's doing headlines on CNN as Chris alluded to.

He they would get a end. They would get to negotiate their football only contract in a market that is starved. Think about what Amazon would pay to follow LSU football. Think about what any of Netflix would pay. I mean, they are looking to back up the brink truck. It is. I don't think it's going to happen. But I don't think what's the governor's name, getry, getry, landry, landry. I don't think he's. If his advisors, I don't think they want to get kicked out, but it's not going to be. I think it'd be just as impactful for the SEC as it would be for LSU. I mean, it would look if it gets to the point where LSU gets kicked out of the SEC, that's, I mean, that's a sad day.

Like we're talking. Yeah, it's like you're making a super emotional decision and not really thinking long term or big picture because there's more to this than football, right? I mean, like I can't imagine LSU not being in the SEC. No, I mean, I don't think that's fair in three role toe or how are we going to pronounce it LSU is prominent. Yeah, I mean, they want what they won a national title in baseball two years ago and then one two years before that. You know, they won national titles in football. In our lifetimes with multiple coaches in the basketball program has had its moments. It's kind of very hot and cold. Probably hiring wheel weight, I'm guessing didn't didn't help with all this either, but I just think it's, it's. Like the wheel weight stuff for sure, but like all this lane kiffin stuff, like essentially from the day that he left, Ole Miss to go to LSU.

Like it's like all this stuff has been building and we've gotten to this point. Like here's my thing, who watched LSU on Saturday night and was like, could you imagine if Xavier Harris was on this team, nobody thought that they don't need him. And it's like they're doing all this stuff for like a backup defense attack call and then like Daqon, right now Daqon would play, but you know, you get the point. Like when to me, Ross Dellengers, the best in the business and like he's all over this on social media, just to kind of say some of the points that he's bringing up and Chris, you've alluded to this too. If it does get to the point where the SEC, meaning like the president's chancellor's vote on this, it does not have to be unanimous to kick LSU out. And you know, Ross kind of breaks everything down and he says that they did officially have a meeting on August the 30th without LSU. And that meeting was to discuss sanctions, expulsion.

And then they had another call this past Friday to like follow up on that. And the quote that Ross Dellenger used is the presidents are out for blood. And I don't think it's like a handful. I think it's, I think we're talking double digits here. Well, two things, if you give me the mic for just a minute, a text at a source said, hey, what happened between, you know, in the last week and today, because like I was, I was not expecting to be talking today, having a podcast that we, you know, we may see the SEC kick LSU out that is being put to a vote. What I was told is just the sense that Kiffin is going rogue. And there's been no raining him in from the administration standpoint. You know, my source also doesn't think this will go all the way to dismissal. But again, that's where we are. So what do we think, like, what do we think happens next? Like, is there going to be this job meeting on in two days on September the 10th? And then like, you know, we figure out one way or the other. This is happening. Like, what do you guys envisioning happen next?

Go ahead, Chris. I have no idea because now you don't have much of a timeline. I mean, I think either you have, not not to think about it. And you guys tell me if I'm wrong, OK. Um, I think it's a good idea to push this vote two days from now. I think it is. It does feel like a game of chicken. I hadn't thought about it just like you raise it. So give me, you know, forgive me for processing it here. It feels to me like the short turnaround time. That is, that is wild. Like, I would kind of think that if they weren't serious, you might say we're taking a vote in two weeks. Because sometimes people will come to decisions when they stop getting emotional about it. And they will, you know, OK, you know, in the heat of the moment I might done this now that I know what the consequences are going to be.

I'm going to calm down. And now that I'm calm down, I might not like it. Yeah, I'm going to go along to me holding the vote two days for now. Yeah, it makes me think that they're really serious like I like if you said the SEC is going to hold a vote to kill a shoe out. It's decided. OK, fine. What, what, what, what would you thought the timeline of that would be? I think the two weeks number is pretty good. I also have to wonder. OK, I don't think you're going to be in a position to kick them out for this football season because of TV deals. I mean, yeah, I, and that looked at bags a whole other set of questions. I want to get it. But to me, the timeline is really curious. Maybe it's just me. I would think if you really wanted to resolve this and keep them in the league, you would have said, all right, we're going to, we're going to do this vote in two weeks. Give everybody time to take a breath. No, you're calling it where everybody's hot.

And emotions are running pretty high. If I were ESPN, I would not be thrilled about that. You know, but to me, the timing of it is really curious that that almost says to me. They've got the votes to do it between now and towards that contradicts everything I just said about. Yeah. But look, if we had a crystal ball, if anybody had a crystal ball and more college sports has gone the last five years, they would have been rich. Everybody's been wrong at every turn. It always goes somewhere you would want. And like you said, pretty show Graham, when's the last time a school got kicked out of a league? I can't think of it ever happening. So like we're in the place where we don't really have any history of information to tell us what's coming next. This is all I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. I mean, the TV, the TV details are critical right now. And it would have to be over.

Look, the other part about this in terms of the timing of two days is if you schedule this from two weeks, not only to maybe some emotions kind of clear down, it gives you time to. Do some back room negotiations with look. Somebody down there in the pelican states got to calm lanes asked down, right? Who's that kind of a J. Oh, hey, I've been on multiple platforms, Graham, and I think I've said it with you. The two people in this country, the most who need a no man, not a hype man or lane kiffin and Donald Trump. They just had one guy to sit there say, maybe not do this. All these other things are pretty good, but just don't do that. I don't know if that person exists. Well, I don't I'm glad you said that. Jay continue. Then I'll get to where I was going to go with that. Well, I just. The two day window, not only is it really feel like look, Sanky, he's Sanky's a lot of things. He's kind of dorky.

He's over here to talk about you too. But he's not a dumb dude. And when you know how to work rooms, you don't go into a vote this public and this prominent and this powerful, unless you believe you lined up the numbers, right? Yeah, that's that's one place I was going next. That's where somebody in the comments. I can't believe they're going to hold a meeting on Thursday where they vote to kick LSU out under the circumstances and not have not have the votes. And they the magic numbers 11 according to the calendar. They need 11 out of 16. I had a thought and I've lost it. So you guys carry on to live. I find it. Here's a question. Let's say LSU gets kicked out, which I don't think they will. What's the reaction for LSU fans if they go to the big 12 because you're going from the prominent, like the best of the best to the big 12.

No offense to the big 12, but that is a massive difference. Graham, you can't start that with no offense to the big 12. That's no offense to big 12, but compared to the SEC y'all suck, but no offense. That's like, I don't be mad at this, but that shirt makes you look fat, Jay. I mean, but no offense intended. But the other part of that's true in the sense that, okay, we're now my ammiest in terms of a playoff contender every single year. Because we're going to we're going to just urinate on that conference. I know what I was going to say. I know you listen to show. Yeah, Niels, a friend of mine. I know Tyler a little bit to always been very kind to me. McCraining, Siski, which they run a terrific football podcast. They talk about more than just football, but it's mostly football centric that I think Tyler said on one of their episodes late last week that there is a voice in the there's been a guy in a room raises his hand and going, hey, look.

You all might want to back down and that voice has not been heard yet. And I think this is the other thing you're dealing with the guy in Lane Kiffin, who's never done well with being told no. And I think his reaction to everybody is to give the world a middle finger. Now again, I don't know that he's ever been threatened with consequences like this your schools, but, but I mean, you don't exactly have a governor who's rational and wise and level headed running things down there either. And that's that's part of the problem is like you got two days to figure that out your response. And those are the two guys that are leading the charge. That's a problem. That's another question I have like let's say LSU is voted out. How's that fan base view? Lin Kiffin because LSU is going to be here for decades, you know, generations and all that stuff. Lin Kiffin is not going to be an LSU for what? It's like 15, 15 years like max, like how is he viewed? Because this is the only thing that LSU is known being in the SEC Charter member, like everybody knows that brand.

And again, if it happens, it's a sad day if they get booted out of the league. I'm just dumbfounded by all of this. Me too. I mean, it honestly feels to Chris's point about the crystal ball. And I, we are so far down the rabbit hole that I'm expecting Chinese bunnies to start bouncing around. And we're on the other side of the planet from where we could have possibly been. I mean, the complete up evil of everything from I can remember being somewhat distressed a decade ago about the biggest question felt unanswerable in football that we didn't necessarily know what it catch was. Holy God, man, there is not a tangible rule in college football that we have grown up believing NFL players coming back eight year players.

The Charter members getting kicked out of the SEC $80 million quarterbacks. Yes. Quarterbacks like Dante Moore choosing not to be a top three overall draft pick because he may make more money in Oregon. Yeah. Two thoughts. Okay. One we've said for a long time. Like what's it going to take to stop this? And everybody's been sitting around waiting for a court ruling. If you want to get people in line, I don't, I don't think anything would send a message better than that the SEC, the most powerful football Lee, sorry, apologies to the big 10. You all got it right now. But when you think football, I think this century, you thought SEC first that they're going to kick out the team that is one multiple national titles under multiple coaches and might be, you know, the best looking team in the country right now. Like if you want to get, if you want to get your problem under control, then, then do that.

You know, so that's that's number one number number two. What's, you know, like you don't ever have a plan without thinking through the consequences. I would be very curious to know if conversations been held with Florida State, Clemson, Miami, whoever. Well, because I think if you're going to kick LSU out, first of all, you're going to, you know, you're probably going to replace them. And number two, like I said, I think the media partner into this is a big part of it. I think LSU is going to be super happy about it. You know, just kick an LSU out in a vacuum and all that revenue goes away that their deal is now devalued. I know 10 time champion put in the chat. And thanks for the super chat about changing the name to SE 15. Brother, if this, if this does.

Sure, you had something good. I'm sure you say 20 hell block quicker than it'll be SEC 15. You said 20. You broke up a little bit. You said it would be SEC. Yeah, I, this, this would, this would be make you in C, say no. Hello, Florida State. Hell, the way they're invested in football, Texas tech. Are you interested? I think I think I think North Carolina would be, yeah, I think North Carolina would be, you know, option number one for sure in that route. But again, who knows what's going to happen? This is, I mean, this is definitely unprecedented. But again, this, this is the new air since 2021. It's just like stuff nobody ever thought would happen is happening. And it's going to be fascinating to see how this shakes out.

Like anything else like jump out to you guys again, like Ross Dellengers all over on social media. Again, this broke what like within the past hour 90 minutes or so. And you just kind of get everybody's reactions and everything. All right, my question for you three for for you other two. If you were a university president, how are you voting Thursday? I mean, my question would be like, okay, let's really, really think of if it's if you're voting to kick them out like you need to give me a reason why. Because like again, this is a pretty dramatic move for, you know, short term long term, all that stuff. And I don't know, it's, it's, I, what I think is going to happen is somebody will finally get a hold of whoever the decision maker at LSU is and like, hey, it's not worth it. Like we got to, let's just focus on playing football. We got a really good team.

But I think I would, I would have LSU like stay in the league because again, Lake Hivvins not going to be there forever. So I would, I would keep them in the league. What, what about you guys? What I would do, I don't, I don't think you make a decision like that just without conditions. So to me, I say, hey, look. You're going to, you're going to drop this right now. You're going to promise not to play these guys. You're going to apologize for what you did to the league and it's in public. That's my condition either you can't, guys, you can't play this card. If you, here's think about this. If you think it's bad kicking the amount of the league, which would be bad. What would be worse is to go this far and then back down because then what do you have to stand on? You're like, whatever you got before, it's just going to be twice as bad. So when the guy's already giving you the middle finger to your face in front of your entire audience in front of the whole country in a bear scene like that, you can't, you can't throw that card out there and go, oh, just kidding without getting something in return because then what's it look like?

Yeah, but this, but if there's anything even his biggest fans will tell you nobody is saying anything false to say that Lane is a pet-illent child. And I mean, there's no way if part of that condition is apology. I mean, he's going to turn that into a mockery. Well, that's why the two day deadline makes me think they really want to do this because the thing that I'd heard before too was that the league was hoping that the suit would take care of it and they wouldn't have to get to this point. So for them to call a vote two days from now before that, I don't even know when the the federal suit is heard. But after they've already met twice. And they've already met twice. As as Gellinger said, they did late August and then they did on Friday. Yeah, so this will be the third time where they've gotten together. You can't you can't go there without backing it up unless unless you get the conditions that you want, which, which includes, you know, we're sorry for public embarrassing.

But I think you can't look yourself in the mirror. If you don't get that, tell me where I'm wrong here. I I could see trying to crystal ball this Chris and that's that's dangerous swampy murky options in the current state of college football. I can so see this being. Kiffin is suspended for Saturday's game because it's going to be a cakewalk tail whipping. And everybody takes a victory in some way, shape or form and hit only leads to the biggest regular season game in league history. Okay, I got I got a quick addendum to what I just said, because I'm what we're trying to do. This is all fresh. And we're trying to kind of think through it on the fly. I said, why would you have a boat two days from now and answer? I got as president schedules or are very hard to coordinate.

So I think that's accurate, but still. That the timing of its interesting. I mean, I can give you a theory on how we got to this point. And it involves the quarterback at Ole Miss Trinidad Chameless. Look, Lane Kiffin is the reason why Trinidad, like the ball got rolling with Trinidad coming back to play this year. And then the fact that, you know, Lane leaves, he was banking on Trinidad following him. He didn't turn it as playing. I in my heart of hearts, I think that's a big reason for all this stuff. You're muted, Chris. There's been some great responses in the chat. The Betty Aqua thing was brought up. He's right about it. Judges in Tennessee have done things that have benefited teams in that state, you know, the poverty ruling. I started the podcast. If you didn't get it, I said, everybody's been guilty.

This, okay? Everybody's been guilty at some point. It's not like LSU deserves to have the finger pointed as if it's the only program that's gone rogue at points in time. I've never, it wants Mitt to intimate that. And I've been very careful not to, but you get to a point where everybody's getting on the same page and is sick of it. And when you got one school out there that does kind of, you know, not sick of it and not only not sick of it, going to sort of shove it back in your face, which is as I call what LSU did in court last week. That's the difference. Nobody's saying other schools have not colored outside the lines at various points. I think, I think every school in the conference has done that. Now, can you make the argument that it's, it's done to, you know, well, okay, there are no rules. We got to compete. It's like the driving on the highway. When the speed limit's 55, everybody's going 80, you're kind of forced to drive 80 for your safety. I get that. But I think the difference is now five years of this has kind of run its course.

You've got to leak this on one page and in a school that is just not, doesn't appear publicly willing to get there. So anything else happened this week? Yeah, I'm looking at Ross Dellinger. My man's double dipping like he's all over this and then he's breaking down like they're about to vote on playoff expansion. You know, for football and all that stuff. So there's just so much going on. But again, I guess we're waiting C mode September the 10th is when the president's and chancellors from around the league or meeting on September the 10th. And I mean, we'll see where it goes from there again. If they kick LSU out, they only need 11 votes in order to do so. So I guess we'll see what happens. But what's what social media been like? I'm sure it's been very level headed and calm and polite over this.

Yeah, that is just like. I mean, it's just number one. It's just like, no, in what other business like is it so emotional like this and you just make crazy. Like insane decisions as far as like money, like the emotion gets in, you know, it's like we're talking about mainly college football here and college football is potentially leading to LSU. It's on the table for them to get booted out of the league. It's just insane to me. But social media is just kind of what you would expect it to be just hot takes here and there and then just trying to find people that would actually know like trying to get the, get the facts and everything and like pat 40 just issued a statement right here. I'm trying to read that. SEC and his member universities have the right to establish agreed upon government procedures, the rules under which they voluntarily compete and to expect those roles to be followed.

Today's filing is necessary to defend that right and preserve the comforts ability to govern competition among its members. Mario X with an interesting point that I hadn't really considered, but was that profanity F bomb filled halftime speech push sanki over the edge on this thing. No, I think it's, I think it's just like a combination. It's just been like a like a build up to it. If you guys remember in the spring when Ole Miss and LSU were playing in baseball in Oxford and that LSU fan went to the Ole Miss student section and it was a fight. And like Kiffin was all over on social media and he was encouraging everybody to fight on September the 19th for football. I was told that was like kind of the start of it were sanki was like what like what are you doing? Why are we encouraging each other to fight.

And then he had the vanity fair article the first one and it's just been like one thing after the other. If you notice like Kiffin hasn't really been on social media of him these bizarre door dash things that he's like paid to do. You know, at media days he said he had a bed of sun knocks Kiffin if you believe that go forward but I don't so. I just think it's like a whole bunch of different things and we're getting to this point. I think it's mostly a link Kiffin thing and honestly not so much an LSU. I will add to a log on that fire. John Taltese book is not saying anything that a lot of us may did not know per se about Joey Freshwater's time trying to get to as many ADPI winter formals as possible. But putting it in print with sources is a terrible look for a whole lot of donors who send a whole lot of their dollars to these SEC schools.

For head coaches and offensive coordinators to be chasing skirts around these college campuses. The week of the biggest the let's say in the most height game of the year too because the book comes out the 15th Ole Miss LSU play on the 19th. Yeah, how awkward is this going to be either way the rest of the year. Incredibly awkward. As awkward as Jimmy sexton lets it be. I don't even know if he can work his magic on this. But Chris like never in my life did I think I would see Nick Sabin kiss the ring of link Kiffin on national television. Never thought that's the fact and he did it on game day. Yeah, I mean, look, whatever you want to say about link Kiffin, he is that he's an outstanding football coach. They may be the team to beat in college football this year, which which just adds another layer of this that makes it super interesting. Yeah, it does. But let's just say that I mean LSU is going to go.

How awkward is it going to be every time LSU takes a road trip somewhere. I mean, I mean, we are I mean either way like even if this doesn't go through. Now if it does, I mean my goodness. I mean, I mean, what's the point of the day, that's when you're going to be able to talk about that would be wild with LSU playing out a full year of games as a lame dog. You know, what what happens. I mean, I would presume that they would. You know, here's one you like you cancel. Conference games and other sports seasons that haven't started like what do you do there if it goes to that point to be a nightmare. That would be such a nightmare. And then like this, this will be left in the dust and nobody will remember this in like four weeks. I think if if the SEC goes and link if and like, hey, look, that Ole Miss game, like you can't be on the sidelines for that. I think he would do whatever it takes to be on the sideline for that game. Why? Because he loves.

He loves big moments, big stages, environments like that. He knows all eyes are going to be on him. He's going to be cool. Like if the SEC was like, we're going to suspend you for the Ole Miss game. He would do whatever the SEC wanted him to do. It's that for maybe a public apology. That the odds of that happening. That is not happening. Well, he may say the words I'm sorry, but how he delivers them is completely up to the bachelor and child. But I mean, this has been something else again. Chris and I were talking just can never remember any conference like just somebody getting booted out. I mean, and it's it's and what is all this coming down to like three guys that were NFL preseason training camp. And three guys that probably wouldn't have an impact on this team that that he has this season. Look, look, everybody knows what they saw against Clemson on Saturday night. I mean, LSU looks LSU look legit.

And I said it earlier, nobody was thinking wonder what they look like with Damian Harris and Dequan Wright or the Notre Dame defensive. Well, I'll tell you one one thing I the one thing I'm sure of is just going to galvanize LSU going forward. Like that I don't know what's going to happen next. I think something will happen. They'll apologize. They'll do something to satisfy the SEC and they'll drop it and move forward. But my goodness, it's just going to be weird. It's the word for weird. Jason. Yeah. I think the only thing that comes close. And I think Georgia Tech left on its own accord eventually. But it was bear Bryant's presence. He didn't he was happy for Georgia Tech to move along when they left the SEC. But I don't think they were kicked out per se. But there weren't a whole lot of traditional SEC schools writing them goodbye cards either.

Yeah. And what that was in the 60s on all that went down. So yeah. I mean, it's it's been a minute for sure. Before we wrap this one up, we want to make sure to remind you of the people that help make our shows possible and rock form. And look, I got a rock form cell phone case here. And to city state gear. So tailgate tics. They got big 10 ACC, big 12 SEC wise. They got all Bern LSU and Mississippi state and Missouri and Texas A&M. More schools are on the way. They also have it at target publics local grocery stores, wherever you get your whatever grocery store you go to as well. So anything else in them before we wrap this one off. Yeah, I'll ask you guys to make predictions will each make a prediction on what what happens next. I'm Graham while I'm doing that. I'll have Jay start. I'm wondering you'd check the private chat quick just to make sure we didn't forget something on the show. But Jay, what what happens next in the next 48 hours? I think before it goes to the nuclear vote, some sort of a piecement common ground is found. So whether that's lane gets suspended for Saturday in what's I mean hell. Graham's daughter could coach LSU on Saturday and they're going to win by eight touchdowns. Yeah. So look, they they pushed all their chips to the middle.

I mean, and I figure to put it into poker vernacular. I don't think Sanky's playing this hand unless he's got the nuts and interpret that however you want to both physically and or poker terms. So if it goes to the vote, I think I think they may have the votes. It would still shock the living snot out of me. Me too. I think of the LSU can kick out of this league, but I don't think he rounds up this meeting unless he feels real good about having 11 people 11 yes in that in that voting ring. I agree with that. I also think this is like they're meeting in two days and it's going to be like, OK, like do we really want to do this and you know we'll see if cooler heads prevail. So I think we got two days essentially for this game of chicken to end.

And if it doesn't, then we may see something that none of us ever imagined or envisioned that we ever would see coming. And that is a charter member getting booted out of the SEC. Yeah, my thought is that they don't have the vote on Thursday that they cancel the meeting that something happens between now and then because I think if they go when they have the vote. And the vote is to keep LSU without any any concessions. I just think that's a that's a hard place to live if you're the league. So my guess is common sense prevails. They end up canceling the vote. LSU stays in the league. It gets awkward for a while, but it goes and I hope that's what happens because the league is more fun with LSU in it. It is. But you know, we've seen some crazy stuff. And the new cycle today, I mean, everybody will forget it. Trust me, but we'll forget about this in like three or four weeks. Yeah. Hell maybe a week, but not in two weeks.

Yeah. Yeah, exactly. How about September and the 19th? Yeah, I don't think that's being forgotten at all. Anyway, thank you guys for watching us. We appreciate you being here.
