The victims include Veronica Abuchak, Kathleen Jo Henry, and Cassandra Buskowski, whose cases highlight deep issues in investigations of missing and murdered indigenous people. One key voice in the series is Dr. Michael Livingston, an unangax historian, advocate and retired homicide detective with nearly 50 years in Alaska, law enforcement. He began his career in an Alaska back in 1978 and brings unique insight to these tragedies. Livingston points out shocking details in Buskowski's case, saying he's never seen anything like it.
