Prior to this game that they lost against Yukon 73-72, number one seeds with a 15 point lead at the half in the NCAA tournament, 134 wins, zero losses, make it now 134 and one. Let's head on out to the progressive guest line, joining us right now is David Bareman, petting with Bareman is the podcast. Bareman, I don't know, then I sit here, I'm still speechless hours later.

1:00I was like, we were live here on the air, I felt like the play by play guy, giving out screaming when the basket won in. The execution down the stretch from Duke was really head scratching. I mean, we could talk about boozer holding the ball and milking the shot clock with a minute 30 left. We can talk about that, you know, failed in, you know, trying to pass the ball instead of holding it and get fouled there with 10 seconds left. Heck, we can even talk about why they fouled with 10 seconds left up three, you know. So many things to break down in this game when it's all said and done, Yukon's going to the final four Bareman. Then they are and you said speechless, like I was driving home from one of my daughter's dance competitions down by New York City, and I was halfway home and listening on the radio, and I had the phone over here, not that that's legal or anything. And then it happens, listen, I live in the state of Connecticut. This state drinks and sleeps husky basketball, they got nothing else. It's husky basketball period. And you can people start honking horns on the road. I thought like I thought USA just won the World Cup. It was nuts. And I was just on a highway because everybody was listening to it and listen, I have a dog in the fight.

2:04Obviously, you know where I went to school and Yukon's giving me enough with Florida and no one likes Duke. But you could look at this a thousand different ways and you hit on them. At the end of the day, I'm going to point to one stat and one stat only. The second half turnovers, Duke at eight. Yukon had one that sums up right there. You have a 15 point lead. You have eight turnovers and they had one. Obviously it was one too many turnovers there at the end, sloppy with the ball or a whole bunch of different opportunities in the second half. When you have a team like Yukon and I sent this in a group text that I'm going to get yelled at tomorrow for. I have a couple of Duke friends in the group text. I gave them the Cobra Kai Johnny Lawrence like no mercy. You have to step on the throat. This Yukon team that on Dan Hurley, they have seven thousand lives. I've been there. I've seen it. They beat Florida every time they play him except for one time last year. You got to step on them when they're down. 15 is not enough and then when it was 11 and it was 12 like just played Duke basketball and you're in.

3:08I mean, you talked about to get a held the ball, fouling with 10 seconds, not just don't pass the ball. Take the foul shots. You made all but three of your foul shots. It was a colossal meltdown, which it's stunning because the team did it 365 days ago and they did it again. John Shire Scott has two of the worst losses in NCAA tournament history. On his resume in the last two years. Yeah, with winning percentages about over 95% in both those games. The Houston loss last year, up double digits and then of course the Yukon loss here today. So listen, we can recap this game. We can talk about all the ways that Duke blew this till we're blue in the face. The fact remains we now have a final four and Yukon is taking on Illinois in the first game here next Saturday. They opened up as two and a half point dogs. I jumped in on Yukon plus two and a half. That line went down to one and a half. It has since crept back up. You can still grab Yukon plus two and a half at most of the online books here at circa.

Where do you fall here Yukon against Illinois? Listen, I like Illinois. I've liked Illinois all season long. I sent out a tweet last night. That says Illinois has got eight losses. Six of them are to ranked teams. Four of them are in overtime and six of the eight or by four points or less. So this is a team that has been in every single game they've played. They've beaten some good teams, but they also lost to Yukon. Yukon was one of the losses earlier this year. And listen, Yukon also blew them out of the water two years ago in the in the elite aid to get to the champion to the final four and then the championship. But I asked, how do you bet against Yukon? This Dan Hurley has covered in 17 of 18 games over the last three tournaments. Look at how they went six to no. They went six to no. They went two and only when they lost the floor.

5:09They covered and they've covered in four out of five. Seven 16 17 out of 18. It's insane what he's done. He hasn't lost a game yet post sweet 16. They cover every one of them. So the math would tell you to take Yukon. They covered their covering machine. They got a rabbit's foot something up the whatever you want to call it. They have it. They the magic, whatever it is. You know, my favorite gift that I send out is is Todd golden fist pumping in the locker room after they beat Yukon. It was as excited as Todd golden's ever been because he knew what that meant. No one else does it. No one else has beaten them. That's the only loss. That said, I really, really like the Illinois team. I've watched them all year. Work for another company where I did their game notes for about the first half of the year. They're tall. They're big. You saw them last night. They're really, really good. But then you got Yukon and it's, you know, if you're going to get points with Yukon. It's hard not to take it because Dan Hurley doesn't know how to lose these games.

6:10Yeah. And if you go back to that second round lost to Florida, they could have won that game 100 different ways. Florida had Walter Clayton Jr. You know, Walter Clayton Jr. Yukon be going for a four-peat right now because they're that good. That said, I don't think this is his best team. I think the teams he had in 23 and 24 were better than this one. But this one just won't quit. The 23 and 24 teams didn't lose by 25 to Mark Hett and St. John's. Yeah. The tournament, it's Dan Hurley's time. They just, you know, you chop off the head. They just grow back and grow back and grow back. Trust me, I've seen it. You got to step on it. And that's why it's really, really hard. And Scott, I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to take the lane road. I have not allowed to bet Yukon basketball in the state of Connecticut. That spread will not show up on my phone. Okay. I cannot take it unless I want to violate the Wire Act and call a buddy to bet it for me. So I lean Yukon, but I am prohibited from betting Yukon.

7:10That's state law. Sorry. And I think Alex Caravan is now what? Like 17 and one in the NCAA tournament. The kid just doesn't lose NCAA tournament. And by the way, give Alex Caravan credit. He had the ball pass the ball. Yep. And he passed it. Yeah, absolutely. That right there, honestly, and I hate giving the guy credit. But that right there is Dan Hurley basketball. I mean, it just is that that's the type of basketball he preaches. Somehow that somehow Caravan, who hasn't passed up a shot in his entire life. New to pass it up with two seconds ago to a guy 40 feet out. It's just stunning. And as somebody tweeted at me after the game, Dan Hurley is about to be in. Sufferable for the next six days. 8:10No, no, the other final four game is the two number one seeds. Thankfully, because I cash my best bet pre tournament on over one and a half one seeds to make the final four. Whoo. And we have Michigan and Arizona where Michigan, a one and a half point favorite here at circa Michigan, a one point favorite over Arizona. This is interesting because I was looking at Jeff King's lines earlier here. David and Arizona actually is a shorter favorite to win the national championship. Now, it's not much. It's plus 175 compared to plus 180. But still it goes to show you that maybe there's a difference in how they view this game against Michigan versus maybe their liabilities overall in terms of what they need to win the national championship. I think it's Arizona for me. I've been on Arizona all along. I bet them to win the title. I said, I'm on Yukon plus two and a half. To me, this is a game where you pick the favorite. Arizona or Michigan, whichever team you're going to give me a plus one and a half. That's what I'm going to take. And I agree and I actually surprised when I saw this line come out. I was surprised.

9:10I thought Arizona would be favorite, but you're right. It might have to do with where the liability is. I love Arizona in this one. No disrespect to Dusty May and Michigan. They're a phenomenal team. They might be the second best team in the country. What I've seen out of Arizona, they're the best team in the country. It doesn't matter what happened in Duke, Yukon. It doesn't matter what happened in Florida. Arizona is the best team in the country. We talked about it last week through the deepest team. They got seven guys at average eight points or more. They've lost two games the entire season. They lost it in the same week to two ranked teams by a combined four points. This is the best team in the country. And even when they look bad against Purdue in the first half, they came out and beat the crap out of them in the second half. What you saw in the second half against Purdue, nobody is beating that team. That said, Purdue was able to stop them and slow them down the first half. And you know, it's one game. All it takes is one game to lose. In this case, I like Arizona. I like Arizona to win the whole thing just like you Arizona is probably rooting for Illinois because no one wants a piece of Yukon. You just don't.

10:11And I even said to my brother, just if I came on the air, obviously there's silver lining and everything. But we would have had another Florida Yukon battle in the semifinals had fun and not choke. But it's just another Florida. You got like, I live here. It's enough. It's Yukon Yukon Yukon, but I do like Arizona. I think Arizona takes down the winner of the Yukon Illinois game. And I'm probably going to go Arizona Yukon. It'd be Arizona wins it all. So think about this. If Yukon wins against Illinois, we are looking at history repeating itself once again because over the last 25 years, I believe it's 23 of the 25 national champions, David, have either been a one seed or a big East team. Either a one seed or a big East team, because it's been Villanova or Yukon or a number one seed. So that's just been it's been incredible. And we know we're going to get a one seed at least out of Arizona and Michigan. And then we'll see what happens to Yukon Illinois. David, appreciate the time man. Good luck with your bets and man.

13:16Come from behind Wain by Yukon over Duke and the final four now set here in the NCAA tournament. We have the not two number one seeds going at it in Arizona and Michigan with Arizona as a one to one and a half point favorite and then Illinois a two to two and a half point favorite over Yukon. I've already placed one bet. I bet Yukon plus two and a half. They're just it's hard to just go against this team and just absolutely incredible what we just saw. I was speechless. I little I mean, you can see the clip. It's all over Twitter. Hit me up at Scott's on air at Vsand Live. I was on the air live with our very own Greg hoop speeders and while that final possession happened, I can't believe that even it even got to that point. You see, I think Duke lost this game with a minute 30 left. Well, they might have lost it way before that, but with a minute 30 left. They have a 70 to 66 lead. You got a four point lead with a minute 30 left. You don't need points that possession, but you need to have a good offensive possession.

14:19If you get points, you're going to win the game. I mean, you go up 72 to 66 or 73 to 66. Heck, you get to the free throw line. You go up 71 to 66. You're still going to win that game. But what happened was Duke played what I hate seeing happen in games all the time. They didn't play the win. They played not to lose and Booser held the ball. Can Booser held the ball for the entirety of the shot clock. There was a minute 30 left when Duke had the basketball. They held the ball until a minute five left. And there was no offense that was run. There was no set play. I didn't see any picks or motion. You know what I saw? One guy dribbling at the top of the key, milking the entire shot clock down. And then turns the basketball over. Leads to Yukon in transition, making a three to pull the game to within 70 to 69.

15:21Now we can talk about what happened at the end with the final possession. And how they just, you know, you're going to get fouled. Hold the damn ball. But I think they lost the game way, way before that. That possession to me with a minute 30 left was the pivotal one. After the game, Duke had coach John Shire talking about the loss. Could not be more disappointed and feeling for our guys. At the same time of, you know, just trying to process what happened. I don't have the words. I don't have the words. I don't have the words either coach. Actually, I do have the words. It's one word with a big question mark at the end. Again. That's the word coach. Or that's the question again. And what do I mean by that? Last year in the final four, Duke had a 14 point lead against Houston. Had no business losing that game and lost that game.

16:24Two games earlier this season, a 17 point lead against Texas Tech, a 13 point lead against UNC. They lost both those games. And in this one, a 19 point lead against you come. You can't lose these games. Here was John Shire on that final possession where they inbounded the ball, eventually turned it over leading to the Yukon near buzzer B3. Well, yeah, you just, we just have to secure it, right? I mean, we got it. They had to fall. I was ready for a timeout. And we just got a hold on. And, you know, it's easy to look at that play. You know, I look at every play that happened, especially in that second half. This is not about one play. It's about every play to put it in that position. And that's what you don't want to do, where one play something can happen. And so for me, look, it's going to be tough, but it's not going to be on one play.

17:28He's right. It doesn't come down to one play, right? But you're going to evaluate that one play over and over and over again. I mean, just think about the win probability for Duke. We talk about analytics all the time. Think about the win probability when they inbound the ball. Okay. First off, we can even go before that. There's 10 seconds left when they decide to foul, you know, up three. And I don't listen, fouling up, fouling one, you're up three. Awesome. I love it. But like, why don't you let? I understand they let the clock run because you kind of got the basketball 27 seconds left. And they ran a set play and they milked 17 seconds. I thought they were going to get off a quick shot, right? I tried to run a play and then Duke fouled with 10 seconds left. I would have waited even longer, maybe five seconds left. But anyway, there's 10 seconds left. You have eight seconds to get the ball past half court. I would make the argument that Duke would have a higher winning percentage.

18:30If all they did was inbound the ball and have their player just stand there and hug it. And one of two things is going to happen. That player is going to get fouled. Or eight seconds is going to run off the clock and you're going to turn the basketball over. And I'll even make the argument. And this is, this is like my Todd Golden, Florida. I'm going to foul up to to make sure that like I get the final possession instead of like losing the game on a three or whatever. Like the crazy people won't understand that. I'm going to make the argument that when you, if you turn the ball over on an eight second violation, you can inbound in the ball with two seconds left at half court. You as Duke have a better chance to win than defending you can in transition there after a turnover. Because you can's going to have to run a set play and it's going to have to be a catch and shoot three with two seconds left.

19:32They don't have enough time to inbound it, catch it, take a couple of dribbles. There's not enough time. They're going to run some sort of pick play and it's going to be a catch and shoot look that's not going to be a good look for a three to win the game. If you're Duke in that situation with 10 seconds left, inbound the ball. And if you're a Duke player, just hug it and don't let go of the basketball. You're either, and by the way, the eight second violations never going to happen. All the Duke players like running around with all the, excuse me, Yukon players slapping their hands and trying to grab at the basketball, you know the refs blowing the whistle, right? You know he's going to call a foul and then you just go to the free throw line. The worst thing you could do there is pass the basketball and that's what they did multiple times. Congratulations to Yukon, just absolutely an incredible finish. One of the greatest comebacks I think we've ever seen in the NCAA tournament. I still can't believe it. I still cannot believe it. 21:35Emerson Hancock meanwhile is still having a great performance on the mount here. He is out of the game after six shutout innings. Emerson Hancock six shutout innings. No hits by the way. Six no hit innings for Emerson Hancock. Nine strikeouts. One walk. Cooper Crizzwell has come in in relief. He did allow a hit did strike out of batter. But the Mariners with a seven nothing lead. This score six runs off of Slade Chakone four in the bottom of the fourth. Two in the bottom of the fifth. The big blow coming on a Brendan Donovan. Dave Ross earlier here on the program 23 of the last 25 national champions have either been a one seed or a big East team. And so if Yukon were to beat Illinois that trend will continue because the other match up in the final four is to number one seeds. Sweating out the final two minutes here in Philadelphia the flyers and the stars are tied at one and Dallas is on a power play but very unlucky. Power play here as these two teams have been battling the flyers had a one nothing lead in the second period. They gave up a short handed goal and that is why we are tied at one but late here with a little over two minutes left in the game.

24:49He got called for a tripping penalty for the flyers but there was no real trip. It was just an unlucky situation where Dallas players skated stepped on. He basically stepped on Trevor Zegers' stick and it got caught in his skate blade which you know it happens all the time in hockey and Zegers gets called for the tripping penalty. So the flyers trying to kill off a penalty here with and Dallas almost scored my goodness. What a sweat this is there's a minute 15 left in the game and for those wondering what we're sweating. We have the flyers plus one and a half goals. This is a profitable system that we've been tracking throughout the NHL this year and it is both teams playing with no rest the dogs plus one and a half on the puck line. Now most of the time you're laying juice. Sometimes it's significant juice. There are times this year we're laying north of two dollars. It's been crazy. This today wasn't that bad. Four teams qualified. The highest price was minus 180 minus 185. This one closed I believe it minus 175.

25:51So it is it is juiced a lot but despite the juice you are still extremely profitable this year betting this system going into today. This trend of both teams playing on the second of a back to back with no rest the dogs at plus one and a half on the puck line were 39 and 11. Well it has gone 3 and 0 here today with the flyers pending and so that improves the record to 42 and 11. You are up over two thousand dollars this year. If you just blindly bet this and if the flyers do cover this plus one and a half it'll be 43 and 11. You'll be up 2100 and change. If you just bet it this team this system which is both teams on no rest taking the dogs plus one and a half the flyers actually qualify for a more profitable subset which is the home dogs plus one and a half coming into today. The home dogs with both teams on no rest plus one and a half on the puck line the home teams 14 and four.

26:53And plus like five and plus almost 600 dollars. So again with the juice you are still very profitable here so we have about 30 seconds left to go to sweat out this game here so let's see if we can get the fourth game to come home here the other games that fit this system earlier today that cashed the Canadian's win outright as underdogs against the hurricanes 31 the Bruins come from three down three nothing in the first period. They come back with three unanswered goals in the third period to tie the game with the extra attacker on so think about that we could have gotten unlucky with an empty net goal the other way but instead we get the Bruins tying the game forcing over time they win in a shoot out four to three and then we avoided the empty netter although it was definitely a sweat lightning beat the predators three to two the predators covered the plus one and a half when I say avoided the empty netter the lightning scored the empty net goal but the time expired. Like it was literally after the zeros had forced on the clock and we are headed to overtime here in Philly tied at one cash another win for the plus one and a half system as it goes a perfect for no today now 43 and 11 on the season both teams on no rest dogs plus one and a half on the puck line.

28:13The big story in the NHL though earlier today the Vegas Golden Knights with eight games left in the regular season have fired their Stanley Cup winning head coach Bruce Cassidy and replaced him with former flyers and Rangers blue jackets head coach John Torrella torts most recently was the assistant coach under Mike Sullivan for Team USA winning gold medal in the Olympics and now we'll coach some of those team USA players in Jack Eichel and Noah Hattifen for the Vegas Golden Knights for the final eight games. There's no other way around it and for the first time in their franchise history the Knights will finish a season with more losses than wins if you count overtime losses and regulation losses first time it happened in their franchise history they are still though in a decent position to make the playoffs there's still in control of their own destiny for lack of a better term I know you can't control destiny but that's the old saying right. Vegas is in third place in the Pacific division right now with 80 points by the way they're not out of like they can still move up there three points back of Edmonton for second place in the Pacific there's six points back of Anaheim for first place but they're four points ahead of LA for that third spot there in the Pacific division there five points ahead of the cracking.

29:36And in terms of the wild card they're not in good shape if they lose out in the division because if you look at Utah they have 82 points there would be they're the first wild card right now Nashville with 77 points is the second wild card but you got a figure if LA or Seattle like threatened to catch up to Vegas they could wind up with more points like it's not a foregone conclusion that Vegas is in the postseason again. They are favorite to do so but they have to start playing better hockey and they have not in their last ten games there three five and two they've lost three straight games and here's how they will finish up the regular season so John Torrella comes in you know he's known to have he's a hard knows guy he's an attitude guy certainly he's a guy that you know you want to send him he's like I send the message type guy we'll see if Vegas gets more physical. There's no physical with him behind the bench but Vegas by the way has lost six of their last seven games so I mentioned how they were in their last ten they lost six of their last seven and even goes beyond that because I mentioned three wins in their last ten it's even more than that they are three and nine in their last 12 games it's been bad for them here's their remaining schedule this season tomorrow they will host Vancouver and then on Thursday they will host Calgary Saturday they go to Edmonton

31:04that's a pivotal game in the postseason standings then they go to Seattle they can do damage against Seattle who is chasing them right then it's at Colorado difficult game of course home against Winnipeg and then they end the season at home against Seattle again a team that is chasing them but they do not have the kings anymore on their schedule. So they can't help themselves with the kings losing right they can only help themselves in terms of Seattle chasing them but for the LA kings here's what their schedule looks like down the stretch for their chance of catching the Vegas Golden Knights LA will take on St. Louis then Nashville then Toronto and Nashville again all home games and then Vancouver and then Edmonton my goodness is a one two three four five six game home against Seattle. Home stand for the LA kings coming up that's that is that's great for them not good for Vegas a six game home stand here for the kings and then they finished the game with three road games finish the season excuse me with three road games at Seattle at Vancouver and at Calgary this is a winnable schedule the kings have a winnable schedule here down the stretch nights right now.

32:19I don't I don't know if I agree with the move sometimes a move is just made to make a move and you just need a different voice in that dressing room you need to inspire the team I thought I mean I thought Cassie's an incredible coach you won them a Stanley Cup. And yeah I got a history with torts you know as a Ranger fan that someone who's worked for the Rangers and has been in many John Torrell across conferences over the years.
