The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating a fatal police shooting in Fort Lee after officers shot and killed a woman early Sunday morning. Her brother called 9-1-1, reporting she was having a mental health crisis and holding a knife. Officials say the woman approached officers with the knife. Meanwhile, the city Transportation Department is rolling out a proposal aiming to make the streets surrounding Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn safer and increase pedestrian space. Finally, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has declared a state of emergency in city jails over the weekend, halting parts of a new law that limits solitary confinement to four hours.
