Queensland Police have confronted two teenagers carrying huge machetes in disturbing vision released today. Live to Declan Milton on the Gold Coast, Declan. This is part of Jack's Law. Yes, I'm pretty confrontic footage released today by Queensland Police. Huge just showing exactly what they're finding on our streets. Now there's two separate incidences and Bruce has been evolving. Two teenagers, one boy is just 15 years old, the other 17 years old, allegedly carrying enormous machetes. Now the younger teenager, please say, was picked up at a shopping complex. Now these fines have all come about because of a law here in Queensland called Jackslaw, which was made permanent about 18 months ago. It's in honour of Jack Beesley, a Gold Coast teenager who was fatally stabbed on the streets of surface paradise in 2019. Now in an update by police today, we've since discovered that 200,000 people have been proactively wandered and scanned.
More than 1400 weapons have been seized. We've also seen footage today of police carrying those illegal weapons by the boxloat or scrapyard where they've since been crushed and destroyed the state government is also claiming a major win today with victims of crime data just out showing a dip in the numbers by about 4.1% in David Christopher Lee's first year as Premier but Hugh Queensland still holds the unenviable title as the crime capital of the country. Okay, Declan Milton on the Gold Coast. Thank you.
