McDonald's is putting value back on the menu. Whether you're craving a Big Mac, McNuggets are sausage egg and cheese, McGrittle's, make it a meal, and save. Your favorite is now your wallet's favorite, too. Extra-value meals are back. Get a big something extra. With a Big Mac or 10-piece McNuggets, fries and a medium Coke all for just $9. Limited time only, promotion pricing may be lower than meal pricing. Ba-da-ba-ba-ba! For my family, I'm always at my best. That's why I also want the best in my kitchen. And that means only Eggland's best eggs. They're always so fresh tasting and delicious. With six times more vitamin D, 10 times more vitamin E, and 25% less saturated fat than ordinary eggs. So why give your family less when they can have the best? Eggland's best, better taste, better nutrition, better eggs. For added convenience, look for our hard-cooked field eggs. You know, it's interesting when you have nothing to lose.

You're the most dangerous person on the planet. I couldn't pay my cell phone bill. They took my car. I will go to the end of the earth to figure this out. So you're building your business thinking you want more. You don't want more. You want to be happy. Do you think that's a lack of clarity of what they want? You brought up Ego. Is that the biggest cost? 100%. They just don't want it bad enough. What I believe is God cut my head off for a reason. I was totally blinded by my Ego and I lost track. I may have lost more in 2024 than I did in 2007. But it's all relative, man. And if I got through that, I can get through this. It may not be the last time you go through something. So you're going to build more fucking mountain. Like I got to keep going. You need to understand that there's no finish line. A lot of people want that finish line. They want to know that they've arrived. The overnight success is not a real thing. Takes time. You need determination to get to where you want to go. But you first have to decide what you want. And then you got to commit to it. All right, boys, real talk.

There's a moment every guy has. Mine was scrolling through old photos and going, wait, when the heck did that happen? My hairline's creeping back. And you may be telling yourself, like I did, it's just the lighting. It's not the lighting. Another funny thing is when my kids started pointing out the fact that at all of these bald spots all over the top of my head, the amount of bald spot I have was massive. And now it is shrunk to about that big. I decided to do something about it and it enters lock lab. It's one pill every day, every morning, nothing else just done. No more denial phase. But if you're in mid to the now phase right now, I see you. So all you got to do is go to locklab.co, fill out the form to see if you qualify and then bang, ends up at your doorstep. I want you to imagine being a 25 year old. You got everything going for you and then all of a sudden the brokerage you're running in northern California shuts down in the middle of the market crash. No car, no money, no place to live until a friend offers you a couch. And on that couch, every single day you make a decision to make 100 phone calls every single

day to strangers. 90 of them hang up on you. Eight of them give you a small conversation and two of them agree to meet with you in a Starbucks. I got a man next to me on the show named Justin Colby that is here because he understands the mechanics of determination and what it takes and what it costs you. He doesn't teach in theory. He teaches from scars. And with that being said, Justin Colby, welcome to the show. Bro, I am smiling so big right now because this is literally the first time we've ever met. We've been having a blast and you have memorized my startup story. Your startup story is amazing. Dude, I'm like grinning ear from ear. This is like, I'm probably red. This is awesome, bro. That is amazing. The thing and we'll get into it, man. I don't want to get too far in the weeds, but your story is my exact story. Really? So I was 28.

Watch my car get repowed. Short sold my house. No way. So you were on the broker side. Well, I was an agent. Yes, I was. I was on the mortgage side. Mm-hmm. I lost everything. Yeah. So when I started reading on this last night, I'm like, wait a second. This story is way too similar because I also met people at Starbucks and I leveraged the freaking hell out of the free refill, dude. Dude. Stop it. I think people think I'm lying when I tell my story. I'm like, guys, I'm not lying. It was free. No, yeah. And you just say I need another boom and I still do it. I can pay for the shit now. You know, can I get a refill but there's $7. So it gives me some more free. Yeah, seriously. God dang, man. But it's funny because like in those moments where you lose everything, I can remember looking in couch cushions for change to buy the first cup of coffee.

That's it? So your story, man, really resonates with me. But let's start at the beginning. Have you always been a determined individual or is it something that you had to build along the way? I think it's a great question. I think there's something My childhood is rough, right? And everyone has a story, right? So this by no means is a woe is me and I don't mean rough like I was homeless and sleeping in a car not quite there Alcoholic parents mom dad and stepdad, you know Showing up at home after school my mom's passed out in the kitchen floor that kind of stuff, right? So I just found myself Well, I got to figure this out at a very young age and I had to navigate some very awkward scenarios like I'd bring a friend home After practice and there's my mom passed that on the couch at 4 p.m And you know, I'm like oh, she's just napping. No, she's drink a fifth of vodka. She's passed out, right? And I'm navigating some of these things and so I think very early on without knowing yet

I created what I would call this shoulder shrug mentality and It leans into this whole idea of being determined because like you go all right. Well, I got to deal with it Yeah, okay, I'm gonna know what I'm gonna so what now what what do I do right? And so The NBA finals just passed a last month and I've always been a big Athlete you and I both grew up in the Bay Area playing baseball and all these things and so I'm no longer able to watch as much Sports as I want to because I have two little kids that have five year old and two year old and I like to be a great husband and I like to And so I caught a glimpse of some of the finals and it was New York And it was this big thing right because I haven't been in 50 years. Yeah, so the point are Jaylen Brunson I would catch his interviews and it really it kind of shook me to its core Because who I am as a person is what he said and he said something that I think even went viral when I reposted it which was They were asking about how they lost this game critical moments big mistakes all these fit, you know mistakes they made and

They said something like how do you feel about it? And he's like no, I thought about it and I replayed it in my head and then it went out and did something about it And it gives me shivers repeating it because that's the only option you got Like what do you do? You go do something about it. So I've I've developed this shoulder shrug mentality as a kid Because I didn't have any option about whether my mom or dad or whatever we're gonna drink her if my mom was gonna show up I'm my practice and throw keys at my coach. There's just stuff like that right? You're just like All right, so that happened, right? So what am I gonna do about it? Yeah, and so you know the foundation of all this is my personal My internal Fortitude or personality towards struggle strife embarrassing moments challenging moments All right, what am I gonna do about it? Right? And so when that happened to me Probably not even enough to really not really care no kids no wife no nothing so I was like

Free enough to be like all right, well, I'm gonna call my buddy and say about a couch not ideal, but yeah It was like all right rebuild time like Figure it out and I didn't love being an agent. I don't know if you loved being a loan broker. I felt like I was just My I was unique because I was selling new homes because you and I were in the new home build phase and made probably a lot of money And it was amazing until it wasn't until it wasn't yeah, and you know is like I don't enjoy this So then it was the okay, who do I want to be and and then I have a whole thing that we can go on there But you know, there's there's what I believe be five laws of success and the first one is you got to decide What you want The deciding what you want is so hard for people right because they know exactly what they want But then they play this game with themselves. Yeah, like can I even do this? Right, let me go ask somebody yeah, and that somebody says you're crazy. Don't do that do something super stable Because all they're doing is just projecting their own limiting beliefs on to you. That's right

I would challenge everybody watching and listening that they do know what they want They just have to be brave enough to go freaking chase it down Yeah, and do it like you did do it like I did get the shit kicked out of you and get back up and do it again tomorrow Yeah, but you don't know what the next phone call is gonna bring that's right and it's funny You say that because I say something so my five laws Access the fifth law in my words is Remove all your time expectation on the result you're trying to achieve that's massive Go into that for the audience because they need that so I have a coach Ben Newman You may be familiar with Ben so Ben just poured into me and when I him and I were going back and forth And he wasn't even my coach yet. I had him on my podcast Mm-hmm, and then we just vived out and you know He was like hey, dude. I got this program on like I'm in bro. You are phenomenal But one of his best things that he really ingrained in me is he took my saying of removing the

Time expectation on your result you want and he called it Have extreme focus in the same direction with aggressive patients. So long obedience long obedience Again remove the time same direction which goes back to what do you want? With aggressive patients Fight every day all day no matter what but be patient on the result Giving you being handed to you or achieving it. So I love that and here's why there's nothing that has ever been built People think I'm an overnight podcast host I've had a podcast since 2013 I have thousands and thousands maybe tens of thousands of episodes right now This message is sponsored by Raycon There's something about the start of fall that puts me in reset mode Cleaning out the old and getting organized my new go-to for that reset has been Raycon's every day earbuds classic They've got active noise cancellation so I can block out distractions and actually focus plus

Multi-point connectivity so I compare with two devices at once and up to 32 hours of battery life in the case I'm never scrambling for a charger. I've been using these pretty much every day since I got them Whether I'm at the gym running errands or just working from home They're the ones I actually reach for over my other earbuds because I tune everything out and focus on what I'm listening to Honestly, they've just become part of my daily routine the everyday earbuds classics are the perfect companion for your fall reset Go to buy raycon.com slash determine to get 20% off. Thanks Raycon for sponsoring You've never been one to settle stand down or stand still You're a lifelong learner energized by excellence. There's a fire inside you. You can't ignore You've got competition to outrun momentum to build on and your own high standards to meet stop now Not a chance at Capella University We help you catch what you're chasing because you've always had the drive now go earn the degree Capella University

What can't you do visit Capella dot edu to learn more in? 2023 I Hit it three years ago Finally downloads went from four Which is my family I remember that to remember those days, you know 40,000 and then 60,000 then a hundred and But everyone's like bro, how did you do that? I'm like, oh, I just kept going when everyone else quit I didn't do anything special and now we just talked about it I'm about to interview what I believed to be my biggest idol in the space of entrepreneurship Gary V. Mm-hmm. He came to me Mm-hmm. I didn't go call him. I didn't go. I'm not paying him But it's because I just kept going when everyone else fell off There's there's so many lessons in that right? Yeah, specifically the aggressive patience Because I can tie this back in 2022 or 2023 I said I I looked at my wife I said I'm going to be out of corporate America by this date. Let's go

And I was wrong. Mm-hmm. It was another year and a half Right, so that must have been 22 because I didn't get out until 24, but when I didn't hit it Mm-hmm search spiral down I spiral down. Yeah, I ain't shit. I'm never gonna make it and I had my I Drowned in the in baseball terms. I drowned in a pull of my own piss for that whole evening And my wife looked at me and she said it's okay that you're doing this right now But tomorrow morning like your aspect That's it. You do what you do because you love it and if you keep being yourself You're going to break through yeah, and of course my answer out that you don't understand That's not the way this business works. Yeah, she was right Because I did break through and it wasn't because I was doing anything other than anything special other than showing up Yeah, and continuing to do it when the peanut gallery was laughing at me Because they did oh and you know who the peanut gallery is is your closest friends and family

1000% which is so hurtful for a lot of people. Yeah, and I just I get I go back to my shoulder shrug like I just go Go ahead, you know, I mean yeah, yeah, but it's always nice on the back end when Because my closest friends weren't like that But I mean it was the friends that you're close enough to yeah, you know what I mean and in the family yeah Like I think it was like a year ago my mom said how do I how do I listen to your podcast? Well jeez mom I could have had like five more downloads by now or listen Like come on, but no, it's that way and and now I hear from one of my best friends that I played ball with that LSU just texting me and saying how Inspired he is by what I've done and how he's so proud of me when my homey Text me a yo dude. I'm proud of you like I get emotional Yeah, bro because that's everything. Yeah, you know, you want your people to be proud of you But yeah, man, it is painful at the beginning and we've talked about off-air building the audience

I mean you're 13 years in I'm almost six, you know like it it was painful then and for the first and I was talking to Will about this earlier at lunch like the first three four years was just practice. Yeah, we didn't make a dime Oh, it's all out of pocket. You're paying to do everything. Yeah, everything Yeah, and we and we just started monetizing in December of 2024 last year was modest this year is exploded Exploded and partly in the nice part about that is just right time right place right so for me It wasn't I ate shit for 10 years. He basically started a business of podcasting and just Fronted it for 10 years. Yeah, which if you listen and look around any entrepreneur that's done anything great Like be ready to lose money for a very long time a long-ass time if you love it enough You'll stick with it in frankly, although now it is a monetization point for me I'm not near what I've already invested in it. I did invest for 10 years before I saw it come back Right, so it's interesting and this is where you know to the determined society It's like how about you want it? Mm-hmm, right? And this goes back to my first rule

Which is decide what you want? Right because then the next part of deciding what you want is you need to become the person to achieve it So let's say you want to go make 10 million dollars Who do you need to be to make 10 million dollars because this is the law of the lid right there's a lid Mm-hmm if you want 10 million dollars the version of you that's making a million Can't reach 10 million the version of you that needs to reach 10 million needs to work on yourself to get to the 10 million So then your business can get to 10 million but people don't look at it that way They're like oh I hit a million so now my next goal is 10. Well, what are you doing on you? To get yourself to build a 10 million dollar a year business because now you got to be a leader You got to manage people you have to lead people you have to be like it's just a different version of you Right the other thing that you got to think of too is like who do you have to get rid of oh? Yeah, 100% that's come up a lot lately. Yeah It's been a year of cleansing for me. Oh, yeah, it's a hard year for you. So that year dude Those are tough years hard middle man. Yeah, you know the the messy middle the messy middle is a thing and here's where I'm at I have little kids

Mm-hmm. I'm kind of taking care of my parents and raising kids at the same time and like what is this? Like it's a weird phase I'm 45 and I'm just like Man, right like it's kind of this thing and so it is an interesting Interesting spot to be in our age. It's sure and I can relate dude. I mean, I'm not taking care of my parents But I have a 12 year old son nine year old daughter and a seven year old daughter Like I know it is like to be a dad and do what we do and be an entrepreneur and and have the weight Am I doing enough for my kids? Am I a good? Okay, let's talk about that bro because And I've been seeing it on social media and I don't do those things the trendy things because that's just not who I am But I love to see them sure. I don't hate on them Yeah, but I'm not gonna do them because I'm not gonna if someone does does something like that I'm not gonna rip their idea and do it because to me that's not authentic. Yeah This is my own everybody else go ahead. Yeah, but

There was this Video of this dude in the gym just working his ass off And it's it says them you're such a great dad. You're so successful and it says me In my president enough my president enough Am I doing enough for my wife? Am I a good dad? Am I losing my temper? Am I providing enough in the list went on and on and on and on and people don't realize What goes on behind a man's eyes every single day? That's powerful. It's very is very true. I struggle every day with this. Yeah, like two days a good example, right? Like yesterday. Well yesterday was a great example my soon-to-be pre-K kid is You know meet the parents day and he said 10 a.m And I'm like I would love to be there. I Just have meetings and I have things that I do like I wish I was just wealthy enough to never have to deal with that But it's a very real I Never know if it's enough like when I do have to be stern and punished and like is it right?

Should I be handling it different like there's all these books and everyone has an opinion but like you just Fight with that am I providing for my wife the way that she needs me to provide for her it is And I'm not saying Let me say this way. I think what men go through is vastly under Respected relative to the female Rhetoric around being a mom giving birth, you know taking care of kids We don't we because we are the voice of us don't talk about it enough It's very difficult. Yeah, and I honor what women go through Of course and you do too and I yeah, and you're not saying that they go through a lot of things They they care the child they give birth their bodies changes their hormones change they go for parry men to pause and they go through men to pause you know we have our own things too and You know a lot of it is Shouldering in my providing the right way and my loving my wife the way she wants to be loved and my missing a 10 o'clock at

Meet the teacher and if I choose not to go to the meeting What position am I putting my family and if I don't get that deal because now our whole lives can change financially And I've got all this thing to pay for you living a very good part of Miami Mm-hmm. You told me where you live I'm not gonna say it, but I know where you live Yeah, and I know what that means we have a responsibility Yeah, to uphold that for your children not because they can they can't live without less But because you experience something as a child. Yeah, and it is formed your version of a father and a provider 100% and that's your that's your prerogative you you got to go to the meeting. I've been judged it so 2024 Was by far the hardest financial year in business even worse than when I was sleeping on a couch 24 was that way for you to I got my ass kicked in 2024 who are we do we come back? I think so you want to do karate in the garage? Karate grudge yep If you guys aren't old enough to know that then I don't know how to yeah, yeah, it's called step brothers go freaking watch it

um It was by far the hardest year and I've come out and said it like I have a very very good friend a considerable older brother Can't clothe your who you know, I was still kind of image-wise keeping up Like everything's fine. I mean while I'm getting crushed yeah, and he just sat me down and this is what a real friend does He doesn't snicker behind my back He doesn't sit there and judge me. He literally were we're running an event together Is this a bro? I mean whatever Room come over the room come over the room. He sits me down. He's like knock it off bro Like that I had no idea what he was talking about right because I'm like, you know, and he's like you're going through it, dude and I just watched you have a video about your gold Rolex and your thing and in like Knock it off. Hmm. He's like you need to understand how to be transparent and vulnerable and the moment you do that

People will look at you as a real one. Mm-hmm. Funny enough. I get home and it just it caught me off garden a great way I wasn't I didn't push back on it and I said I Needed this I felt I just owned it. I was like yes Immediately go out and post my war stories fighting the dragons what's happening losing millions of dollars like the whole thing and I've been called a real one more times in my life and I say that laughingly like he was right Which I give him his flowers you know it's hard for me to give my big brother flowers, right sure But it just goes back to this idea of like Again this podcast and being able to push forward There's never a perfect It's just you just keep going mm-hmm because what are the options? Well, dude, let's let's let's go backwards man. Let's talk about those moments. Yeah, you know when you're when you were living on your buddy's couch Yeah, you know and I said it

It was hundred calls a day mm-hmm What was it 90 hang ups? Oh, yeah eight brief conversations and two yeses For nine months with nothing to show for it nothing. How do you make that call on day 150? What are my options When you have when what I tell people when you're backed up against the wall you had like there's one way out It's forward. Yeah, man. So you know, it's funny. Grant and I have gotten really good relatively close He's like I always force myself to be broke Because when I'm broke, I don't have I have to go make more And it's just same idea when you're back so you're in so all there's one way out Yeah, and so you know you talk about where I live and it and I've had people snicker and I've heard it like He should move he's going through a rough year. He shouldn't live in Miami. He should live in Ohio and It's not there. I'll go fucking win. Yeah, what I'll do go fuck I figured out I will pick myself up off this mat and I will go figure it out and I will go win and Partly is because I know I have people around me. I can lean on that will give me their hand

I just made a post about this people that have achieved more than you that have gone through the shit You've gone through and made it out that make more money that are more success. They're not gonna go Snicker at you or talk shit about you or the first thing they're gonna do is give you their hand Like let's go baby. Come on That's interesting because it reminded me a part of your story back in the beginning where you had a friend Yeah invest $100,000 believed to me and he gave me a loan personal unsecured loan Mm-hmm, and I used it for coaching for Ben right was it for Ben? No, it wasn't Ben was more recent Okay, so this was for a fixing flip company. Okay, and you spent a quarter of that On that mentor you had two phone calls with that mentor and your business shifts in a completely different way I went what did he say? It's simple shit It literally was like hey if you want to get more deals because right at the time You got to remember this is 2007 2008 right? I think 2008 when we when we invested in coaching The bank still didn't know what they were doing with these short sales and full closure

So it wasn't just us not knowing how to run the business There was also some fundamental stuff on the back end because everyone's like losing their home and you know loans were short sales So like basically it was a fundamental way of how to get more deal flow or at least lead flow So that you could make more offers so you can get higher conversion So it kind of goes back to even what you're saying 100 calls 92 of them laugh at you, you know six of them Spend a minute with you to get two actual Conversations right same idea in the business is like well, you're not talking to enough people to make offers So you're not making enough offers so you can't get enough deal flow So you can't make any more money and you're currently making and you go oh Got it right and then you go how many offers can I fucking make it a yeah, so we just ratchet it up our offers It got to a point where I had like a team of realtors who are also going broke right everyone in this And like everyone needs to make sure there's ten offers a day. I'm making ten offers a day You're gonna make it you're gonna make we need ten so we're gonna have a hundred offers a day going out

Every day Monday through so I was like I need to go six days a week not not five This message is sponsored by Raycon there's something about the start of fall that puts me in reset mode Cleaning out the old and getting organized my new go-to for that reset has been Raycons every day earbuds classic They've got active noise cancellation so I can block out distractions and actually focus plus Multi-point connectivity so I compare with two devices at once and up to 32 hours of battery life In the case I'm never scrambling for a charger. You've never been one to settle stand down or stand still you're a lifelong learner Energized by excellence. There's a fire inside you you can't ignore You've got competition to outrun momentum to build on and your own high standards to meet stop now Not a chance at Capella University We help you catch what you're chasing because you've always had to drive now Go earn the degree Capella University. What can't you do visit Capella dot edu to learn more? You know that that's interesting because When you're talking about numbers and offers and all breaks down to KPIs yeah So if you're never in corporate America or you're never in sales you don't understand KPIs right you need to know your numbers Mm-hmm. You know your clothes ratio But you also need the most important thing is you need to know how many causes it take to get a meeting no And then you break things down based on your clothes ratio and be like okay Well, if I need to make 10 offers then I need to make this many calls People aren't dissecting that they're going willy nilly and just say okay Well, I'm just gonna dial and you know, I made 25 calls today. It was brutal 25 calls ain't shit

Bro, I left UCLA. I went to you so they got my diploma. I went directly into door knocking. Oh for what? Family was excited So essentially it was like this farming company that taught you had to build your own business So from college I've never had a W2. I've been in an entrepreneur my life. That's awesome So it's pretty cool, but it also means I have to go through the eating shit a lot to figure it out But there was a metric that they taught us you knock a hundred doors a day every single day and you will have one sale and you will earn $100 It was a very easy metric Now by the way, we were excited to make a hundred dollars a day back then. This is 2003 $100 a day doesn't pay for lunch. No, and I say that respectfully like I just ordered Saturday. We ordered Chick-fil-A Chick-fil-A Keep going man. This is ridiculous. I have two little kids five and two. They're not big eaters It's me and my wife. She weighs 105 pounds, right? Like she's yeah, she need a lot. I ordered Through four chicken sandwiches a chicken nugget in order of their french fries

And one diet coke 60 bucks $84 good god It's you can't eat anything for basically less than a hundred dollars now You could right like we could just go to Chipotle and spend $14, which now it's $14 is not like $799 or whatever So I say all this to say So we're going on a change of cost of living, but the reality is going back to this is like You have to be able to go win and you have to fight your way through all this and you don't sacrifice on what you want Ever because you're determined because in my world you do law number one first Decide what you want and then you need to figure out who you need to be to get what you want So for me when I was broke it was a hundred calls a day to get two appointments when I started the business and got coaching Two calls in you go. I just need to make more offers and I'll get more deals done I need to make sure I'm making more offers, right? and

That is the same thing all the time door knocking hundred doors $100 like okay, so let me go you hit 200 doors to make $200. I need more money for the weekend I want to go out and I want to have fun with my friends It's a metric a hundred doors a hundred dollars like So go hit 300 doors, you know, it it's simple, right? But it's not easy for everybody to execute simple not easy the simple not easy man I mean it is the most simplistic saying but it means so much Most people quit way too soon. Yeah, dude honest. Let's be real Most people in your situation when you're making those hundred phone calls They're gonna quit after two weeks done done Maybe a week you did it for nine months with zero return You know, it's interesting when you have nothing to lose you're the most dangerous person on the floor Yeah, I couldn't go further Right like I couldn't pay myself on bill they took my car I don't know you know, I mean like I'm I'm literally eating because my friend will buy me a burger a day

He gives me a bag of almonds every morning to go Starbucks with like I will go to the end of the earth to figure this out So I go now most people don't feel that pain so when we talk about determination just to bring it kind of full circle to this podcast I don't think determination Is needed a lot of the time. Yeah I think if you get yourself in a position of there's no option you will achieve great things Think about even Elon Musk and SpaceX how many times did he almost have to go BK in that company dude? I don't even push himself to the brink so many times that like I think I think the story is There was a moment where he had enough money for one more rocket. It was it. It was over I'm all in Build the rocket spends the money and it worked So how many times before that did they all fail like you push yourself into a position that you have no option I had a coach one time tell me go get the Mazurati at the time my car payment

I think was $300 the Mazurati was gonna make it $900 Like damn like you're so quick to just tell me to go get it like okay Like is this good advice? Yeah, let's go on him He was like, you know, it's gonna happen cuz who you are and how your childhood was cuz he knew my childhood He was like you're gonna force yourself to go make three times more money. Yeah I'm like, haha So I went to got the Mazurati partly just because I wanted it and it had making three times more money Because when you put yourself in the position You don't even have to be determined. There's no other option. Yeah, you're gonna pay your bills or you are not Figure it the fuck out and we all do by the way. Yeah I have a buddy who swears by the person who's the most busy in your company is the one you give him more stuff to Why cuz they are the ones that can figure out how to get it done and It's just it time and time again. I find this one thing to be true is if you put yourself in a position

You will figure it out. So would you say the people that aren't figuring it out? Right they They're pushing for something and they just can't do it. They they quit They see too many road bumps and they're like, you know what? I'm gonna go on the easier route Do you think that's a lack of clarity of what they want the hunt? That's all it is I agree they just don't understand what they want yeah and If even if they argue they do They just don't want it bad enough So like I go and speak on stages all the time in different like sectors, right? I'm known for real estate But I've gotten to a place where now I'm like speaking to Totally did like tax strategy conferences and asset protection conferences and all these different conferences And what I tell them is people think they know what they want until they get it and they realize that wasn't really what they want So for example as a high income earner a lot of people buy larger homes So I go on stage and I talk about this idea of like hey, I think you're building your business wrong and they're like

Well, I don't tell who do you know and say great. So you're making a lot of money. Why oh? So I want financial freedom and I want control and I want time freedom and I'm like Know those are all wrong answers They kind of go No, they're not they're my answers. Don't tell me what's so here's why they're wrong So you're making all this money. How big is your home? Oh six thousand square feet great good for you So you're gonna invite me over and I'm gonna say how beautiful your home is right and you're gonna show it off and you're Be super proud and the next time you invite me over I'm not gonna mention your house cuz I've already seen your house, but I'm gonna say hey dude. What's new with you? And you're gonna say I don't know the same old same old But the dopamine hit of me complimenting you about how beautiful this house is and congratulating you is gone now But you know what actually makes you happy is the fact that you have big enough house to bring your entire family over to have your birthday Thanksgiving Christmas is that's what makes you happy so you're building your business thinking you want more You don't want more You want to be happy

Hard stop so us drivers us entrepreneurs the people that we have to reframe all this We have to understand what we want the only thing we should genuinely want Is to be happy? And that might be different for you than it is for me But it damn sure doesn't mean 6,000 square foot house makes us happy What happens inside the house can though that so I would disagree with you on the fact that our happiness is probably different Hmm, I just want I want to be my family Okay, what happens inside that right like you said what happens inside down? Yeah, that's right. You know it whether it's 2,500 square foot 6,000 square foot 1200 square foot What is going on under that roof? Yeah, are your kids thriving is your wife happy? So go back to what you asked me earlier So then our struggle I got to take the meeting I can't be at the Right, that's a fight that is fighting that internally like God I want to be happy and I'm building this business and it's Creating the thing I want which is time and in the have a house that we can fit everyone in and we're doing that

But then I I got to take this meeting right so then we're back to this paradoxical thing and so my point is Then you got to refine even further How do you and by the way, there's no perfect to this so I tell all the listeners right now like if you think I have it all figured out You are sadly mistaken. That's right. I do not have this all figured out But I'm learning as I go because I want to go make as much money as humanly possible I'm not anti money. I'm very pro money very pro capitalism But how I build that has changed right and so I think for me And what I believe people should be building this business forward making this money and like being determined is good I Think you really need to refine Happiness and clarity of what you want and by the way for me it took 90 days to refine that answer What was your process like to refine that answer? You're gonna like this Every day Seven days a week. I would go on my backyard in Smokosagar

In total quiet I wouldn't bring a milk pad. I wouldn't bring my phone. I would sit because if you have kids You know that is a very uncommon moment of just pure quiet if you are married You know it is a very uncommon moment and if you're a business owner a business owner You know like when you combine like never do we get that? No So I forced that nowadays So I realized how powerful that was and I wake up at 4.30 in the morning because I want that hour still Now I'm not trying to figure as much out today as I was then and you know what I did is I sat in quiet I literally tried to turn my brain off Enjoy my cigar. I would hear the I live we live in Miami You hear the birds in the nature and there'd be a Equal one that runs across my Inclusious and whatever in just in all of sudden whether you believe in God or like Some answers just started coming. They just started coming. Yeah, right? And I'm not gonna you know, I have my own relationship with God I'm not gonna go there because I just feel like people are playing into that a little too much

It just came it just came to me and whether I heard it felt it I just I got clarity on how I wanted to rebuild again this happened in 2024 We're talking two and a half years ago, right? Like guys and girls like you will go through these peaks and valleys and Moments of crisis and how do I figure it out and That was my solution is every 90 days my wife's like God like you just love cigar like she just die it coke sometimes, right like coffee Yeah, right and just lean into it and in funny enough if you give yourself enough runway This goes back to my fifth law, which is you know Don't put a time expectation on the result you want the result I wanted was clarity I just didn't know when I was gonna get it so every day You happy ass out there at first 30 in the morning now now those cigars were like midday I was gonna say cuz I was like oh the to be clear. Are you smoking cigars at 4 30 in the morning? No holy shit no no now is mid those were in mid-eight now now my my time for that quiet is in the morning

Yeah now because I realized the power of them like dude I need more time because You can't give your cup is empty right and so I'm like I need to make sure I hit the gym every day Yep, and if I try to do it at the afternoon or in the evenings Something's popping up never have shows right so That's how I found the clarity and I would tell everyone Regardless of your spirituality or health and wellness like lean into getting you time Amazing thing happens when you turn off your brain Very hard for us by the way that like the first couple weeks is not like a easy feat Yeah, that's what I was gonna ask you because I'm going through that journey right now of you know I'll get in the sauna after my lift and I'll turn on the the app waking up and I'll meditate yeah, and like all close my eyes and like my brains racing everywhere And it's just like I'm doing this wrong I'm doing it completely fucking wrong and it's so hard at the beginning because you don't know how to silence your mind To the outside freaking noise. Yeah, or what you think you're supposed to want yeah, right? And so

You know, but the one thing I will say even in those first couple weeks, or it's really hard to do that I Was calmer hmm. I started calming down a little bit and seeing things for what they actually were Mm-hmm, and then you know, it was only a couple weeks ago So I'm still in the middle of it right? I'm still in that thing where hey Sean You should probably get quiet with yourself Because you're a powerful being yeah, but you also need to hear yourself And I think a lot of entrepreneurs and a lot of young people it just doesn't matter people in general Yeah, they allow the outside and the external factors to push them towards where they think they need to go And if you don't sit with yourself and you're not quiet, you don't know what you really want because What you think everybody else wants you to want is not gonna stick. Amen. This is not you You know, it's funny because I walked the line with what you said about the outside world 99% of the outside world I don't pay attention

But you know, I have the room and have you in it now. I'm super excited about having you know, I'm excited man That's gonna be great. I cure a room So that I do have somewhere to go so that's different. Yeah, no, I love that outside. Yeah, on social media They can kick yes, they can they just Kick rocks, but having groups That you can learn from that you could be vulnerable with like harder my requirement to get into the room is you have to be transparent You have to be totally vulnerable you have to tell us to shit the socks because I might have a person right now that I say here's the answer to your shitty situation And you just don't know because I don't know yeah, so if you don't open up then I can't help right does that make sense? No, it makes perfect sense like I'm excited to do it because like I need somewhere to go with yeah Because my wife can't shoulder it all now And she's been my only person like my boys my team they listen to me yeah, but I also and there's always gonna be that And they're in the trenches with me they're building this with me, you know, but to have people

that are so objective And like a 50,000 foot view can look down and say hold on oh clear dude super clear you're you're right there do that yeah You know and it also is a added benefit Because as a man when you can speak up and feel heard and and then Another dude come and help you you're like bro. That's like a fucking gladiator moment. That's it That's where you bond yeah, you know, I just think it's super useful. Yeah, it's your point Rooms like that the room yeah the room that's why I called it the room. That's where you listen gives me shivers I'm super excited about it. I love it. So just launch. We just had our first call last night first meetings here in Miami And we don't have to take the podcast, but like we'll be on a yacht. So anyway super excited about that, but um where were we we're talking about? I want to know hold on don't don't no No, no, no, no, no, don't don't don't go yet because people need to hear this I have a show about determination and discipline and up until December of 2024 I was 225 pounds and you've seen the pictures well And I was a fat mess 32% body fat on a dexascant 185 now. I don't know what my dexascant is gonna read gonna do it here in a couple weeks It's in the teens. I'm gonna say 12.9 percent holy hell. I would I think more like 16 maybe but If you're right like dude, I'm we're going on that y'all we're party. That's it You know but but

The business in my interviews Started to get better when I started taking care of that side of the street Because I firmly believe people are stuck in their lives Sometimes more than one reason yeah, but typically it's the one thing That you think about constantly when you're still with yourself that bothers you so fucking much and then you can't fix For me it was my weight The moment I fixed the health portion of myself Took off yeah, and I'm still on that journey. I'm not done I'm not even close to be there's no finish line. It's what I do every day I'll make some introduction. I'm on a big hell journey. I love it And by the way, I would argue I'm not as concerned about my food. Mm-hmm I've always been lean and I'm saying this respectfully like I just literally did a whole CT scan of my insides Which is unique so there's a company here Pre-new what's it called pre-new or new anyways? That doesn't MRI of your insides that will detect like cancer and

Two merge or whatever but a CT scans the only thing that can get your heart to see if you have plaque build up And that can give you the heart attack sure of course So I flew to Houston to do it happy to give you the company. Please Um, but I'm on this big thing. So I did that. I did an MRI on my brain So my whole thing is physically externally people like you're healthy workout four to five times a week You're healthy. Yeah, but you have no idea what's going on inside right? So I do blood pain. I was every quarter I just did the CT scan I pooped in a cup. I want to know what's going on like cut my biomes like In my alert like all the things dude, I'm Thankfully, I'm blood like the doctors like you're annoying There's nothing wrong with you. There's nothing wrong. I can't fix you. Yeah, and I can't dig my closet So I'm very blessed about that. But at the end of the day I believe very heavily in longevity of life. Mm-hmm So again, I keep talking about speaking only because I've been speaking a lot lately, but I went out

Spoken California to this group of about 200 very wealthy individuals and I said you guys are doing it wrong because you're carrying more about The now versus longevity of life. What are you guys doing with the money? You're making right now that you are investing it in a way that gives you the longevity of life you're wanting Meaning Have medical advancements are only going to improve so for us men peptides into testosterone and love it I'm all like I'm all in in my whole counters just flood it. Yeah, I might yeah, dude now I have so much like in the kitchen now. I've all these pills I'm taking because Whatever because I want my digestive system even better and I'm like tightening all the screws. So I tell these rich people I got you guys are doing it like Great, you're making a lot of money But for what which I circle back to happiness and decide what you want, but then At some point I'm not gonna want to keep going as hard as I'm going. Mm-hmm I will never retire. I've told my wife like never think I'm gonna just be the guy retired It won't happen not me But I'll probably not want to do much so I need my money to work a lot harder than I'm working

Because we're gonna live to a hundred dude dude Who's planning financially to live to who is I don't by the way? I'm literally talking a lot about this and people who says I I don't know I throw some shit in stocks and I bought a short-term run and like inflation is gonna crush us in 30 years and 30 years. I'm 75 years old. Mm-hmm I have no idea how much gas is gonna cost $40 to gallon Could you imagine I mean When I got my driver's license it was 99 cents. Yeah, same. Yeah, and now it's basically $5 So what is that I've 16 to 45 so we're talking 30 years So in 20 years is it that crazy to think it's gonna 5x 25 dollars again. So How the fuck are we gonna afford anything in 25 years and no one is planning for when they're actually not working making money Mm-hmm They're so consumed with making money. They're not planning for when they can't make it or don't want to make it anymore

And so I come from and this is my PE so I run a PE firm and we buy apartments So I put that hat on and start talking about like guys you need to be in things investments That will pay you in a way that when you do actually want to stop earning the money You can afford an amazing lifestyle Not just like exist and not have to downsize into a small apartment because you can't afford your house in pinecrest anymore You can And you will But people don't think about health and wealth and longevity So I'm big in this health and longevity space because brother We're gonna live to a hundred and I'm gonna have great great-great-grandchildren that I'm gonna go take on Disney Because I'm a vibrant hundred-year-old that's doing it and I can afford a eight thousand dollar family trip People don't think that way. Hmm They're so consumed with the right now and I'm trying to help like part of my rhetoric for the last Six months after going through my 2024 is this recalibration of it all

I was so consumed with making money now making a lot of it And I just lost track dude my ego got in the way in a big way I was totally blinded by my ego and I lost track I'm like all right, and if I'm rebuilding and I hear what I'm hearing and I'm getting this clarity I'm doing it for the long term, baby Would you you brought up ego? You know Is that the biggest cost your your ego cost you right there was that right that that's 24 a hundred percent I had to be What I believe is god cut my head off for a reason he was like I got a slit This isn't about you dog. Yeah, it's not and you made it about you That's the thing I love about spirituality Because he knows man knows what he planned you for he knows what's in store for you It's like I got to cut his head off right now Yeah, because he because he won't get to where I need him to get to like that's his mission. That's right your assignment And I was playing too small. Yeah, I was just out of field. I was out of bounds like It's like bro. I know that you are this MVP of this assignment. You're the guy

And you're over here playing with flowers. I guess what Right, so you just had to realign me and unfortunately my ego was so and not big in like I was an asshole in a jerk It could be at sometimes, but like we all man, but more just like It was just not an alignment and anyone who knows me knows me I'm very emotional like morale cry me too. I'm a big. I'm not scared. I love it right like Giving when I tell you the story about the big brother so we were at this large event with a bunch of people and I'm I got the mic bro and Trying to give them flowers and I'm like And he finds like all right just I got it. I got it You know, I mean because it's just it's an emotional moment for me right so I say it all that just to say like God just saw this ego and I swear it was just like dude You're so much better than whatever the hell you're trying to do right now because you're trying to look cool You're trying to go ahead. That's called fear sympathy man. Yeah, that's what he is so He definitely levels at me. Yeah, but again, you put me in the corner and I'll find a way and by the way

I have yeah, we just talked privately about things I'm doing and like I'm going yeah, I'm going harder than I ever have dude and it's working and I understand I have an uphill battle and in all these things but like Been done been there before Yeah, I just also think it's you with these uphill battles right like we're we're not necessarily Impossession of the tools to get us through those moments or to excel through those moments, but when we're in them We get them we earn them you know, Ed my let yeah, everyone knows Ed my let Have you heard him speak? No, I've never been to anything he's supposed so I've had the honor to I don't want to say it close to him, but he's He's close enough in this very small group of man I've heard him speak cold times what he does talk about you are the most capable person to help yourself through the hard time Yep, because of the things that you have gone through and that's exactly what you're saying is because of what I went through in 2007 I know how to help myself. Yep. I was given that gift Which I can't say was a gift at the time. I thought it was terrible

But now I understand what I can do and what I'm capable of and so when I go through 2024 Which is whatever that is 18 years later whatever the math works out to be it's like okay I know what I gotta do and even though it's amplified. It's all relative Right, it's all relative. It's like okay. I may have lost more in 2024 than I did in 2007 But it's all relative man and if I got through that I can get through this And it may not be the last time you go through something. Oh by the way, it won't be hell no No, it won't be the last time so again preparing myself But now I can even then is still like okay take it Learn compress the ability to make faults again in that same direction But you know, I heard the rocks say something great. They they're asking him about like um You're the guy like you're on the top of the mountain What's next? What are you gonna do next? So I'm gonna build more fucking mountains Like I gotta keep going Yeah, and so like when you get to these new levels and the cliche is new levels new levels

So when you don't know what's around the corner to some extent You're gonna come up with getting punched in the face But if you've insulated your ability and you can minimize the effect of that punch That's now where I'm at So like for me it's like how do I protect my downside? I still want that meteoric just blaze right? But now I'm like all right, how do I protect my downside so I can live with the cost of Gave and getting it wrong does that make sense? Oh 100% And like the thing that you said that really resonated was I'm gonna build more fucking mountains. Yeah Because I think a lot of people out there They have a goal and once they get to that goal that's it I want to lose 15 pounds Okay, well you're gonna find it again. Yeah, I have no doubt what the fuck like especially if it's fast Yeah, like you're gonna find it quickly right? And and the thing is when people set goals in business or even I talk to a lot of younger podcasters that Want this and I go

All right, so what's the goal? Yeah And they tell me the goal I go that's your goal What I'm gonna tell you is if that's your goal you're gonna fall short Because you need to be shooting for something else And you need to understand that there's no finish line A lot of people want that finish line They want to know that they've arrived. I'm to that point I don't have and I've made that mistake and I'm I'm like you I teach from scars. Yeah, not from theory like it is This is what I've gone through and this is what I've studied on myself and this is what I know to be true If I set a destination I can set a North Star of something I'm chasing But I know that's not it Because if I think that it is and when you guys listening or watching think that is it once you get there You're gonna be sadly mistaken because your only goal was to get there And you didn't love the work that you that got you there and you don't a freaking appreciate it Yeah, and you're in your toast and you're starting all over Yeah, that what's the cliche about loving the journey not the destination? Yeah, I mean there's a bunch of them right love the process

marry the process divorce the result like all those things like and they're cliches for a reason just right just because they're so true The truth and so And again, I think there's chapters and seasons where everyone should be recreating themselves anyways Yeah, you don't have to go through the pain you went through or I went through Learned from us by the way give us a call glad to help you. Yeah, so but you know, I think we're all growing beings and I think As we want more desire more going more and and you sprinkling a little spirituality in that like It's not always one size fits all and you know getting clear on what you want Will determine how hard you push where you go what you know, yeah, I think it's important to tell everybody as well It's heavy It's big heavy. It's heavy as fuck man like it you know, they see things from the outside. They see your show They see your your private equity for me guys are buying apartments man, like you said earlier overnight Yeah, you know, I met I met I met somebody in the Bahamas. I'm in a family his name is Remy his wife's name is Sandy

amazing great kids Kaya and And Zander Amazing people I met them at the pool the first day and I was just bullshit with them and yeah I'm listening to him and everything he's been through and like he owns an ambulance company now and In Los Angeles and he's killing it and he's such an amazing man him and his wife both grew up in Egypt Yeah, you know, and by the way he left a family business How do you see no, it's not yeah, and the grandfather Founded the very first plastic toilet seat and never patent it because he wanted more people To be able to have it yeah into into prosper from it But he made a shift and moved and went and did the Wall Street thing and then he went to LA and now he owns his own company And he told me this story because he asked me what I did and I told him so I got I got a podcast called the Determine Society That's all I said he goes oh awesome. How long you been doing it? I was like almost six years, you know, like who have you interviewed and I told him so he's like holy shit in a way and I'm like yeah

I said but I'm in that messy middle right now, you know, I'm I'm in that that hard part Right that really really hard part where you know you're close But it just hasn't happened yet. Yeah, and into the outside looking at a lot has happened Yeah, but where I want to be I'm nowhere close. Yeah, and I do that on purpose, right But he says to me he's like, you know, he's like do you know Tony Hinchcliffe? I'm like, well, yeah, I know who he is He goes do you like him? I go I don't do I'm neutral like I don't understand his comedy But I know he's successful. He goes bro. I was listening to him Like 10 years ago. I said wait a second He's been around 10 years as I he's been around 10 years And for the audience hanging on to the story in this rant. I have a point I said wait a second. I just learned about him two years ago And if you knew him 10 years ago, he's been working for 12 to 14 years. Yeah That motherfucker stuck with it for a 16 years and he exploded

And now he's on Netflix and he's doing all these things and people including myself go, huh, where do he come from? He's been in the dark working his ass off Those are people that you latch on to and then you study them.
