And Parks. Podcast on KMBZ. Jesse, will you skate with me? Yeah. Only if it's backwards. All right, 913-586-7798. Awkward. We have a ton of lines open if you want to grab one. If you got a grievance, 913-586-7798, Commander Jesse Reed, you get the honorary first grievance of this week. I'm prepared this week. I'm ready. So I'm like you. I like to watch funny videos, reels, you know, what you like funny animal videos, right? Or people like... Like the hippos poop, poopin' on the cheetah. Yeah. Yeah. So my thing is the funny robot videos where it's like epic fails from these robots and all that. Anyway, so I'm watching the reels and I can't get through a reel nowadays without at least, and I mean, it could be like a 60-second reel without three or four advertisements cutting into the video. So I'm watching whatever it is. I'm watching funny animals, whatever. And then all of a sudden it cuts in. It's like, have you ever noticed your t-shirt?
So just don't fit right and it's like an advertisement for t-shirts. And then I like wait for it to skip the ad and I'm like, okay, back to the reels. Where are you watching reels? It's like on Instagram. Go to Facebook. There's anything on there too? I don't get any commercials on my Facebook reel. You must have like the paid subscription or something though. Is that a challenge? Oh. No. No. No. Correct yourself. You watch reels on Facebook and I too have to deal with ads. Yes. Oh, I do not. Yes, and a lot of these things are things that I'm not interested in. So the algorithm's not picking me right for the ads in the first place. And even some of the things I might be interested in, now I'm so spiteful towards the company for interrupting my real experience. I'm just, I'm done. Okay. There you go. All right, get in ladies and gentlemen. We start reading from the Old Testament. 913-586-7798. I'd rather read from the Quran. 913-586-7798. Please allow me to be the very first to wish all of you. A very happy best of his Friday. All right, let's go. Get in now and we will guarantee,
we'll get you in before the bottom of the hour. 913-586-7798. We will start at the top with Diane. Hello, Diane. Oh my gosh, I've been trying to do this for 30 years. Yes. Book at list. All right, I'm gonna give it to you short. Well, I'll try. Might, I have a daughter that's almost 50. She has developmental disabilities. Nine surgeries, excuse me. 52 surgeries, nine disabilities. I've lived in other states and I've learned all about what's called waiver programs for those who don't know. That's your budget that you get to live in a facility. It could be a nursing home, group home, whatever. I've seen what there is in every state and I learned as I moved from one to next. It was my husband's job that moved us. I came to Missouri and the first thing I hear, are you sure I can talk about this on the radio? How long you don't name anybody by name or a company by name? Okay, one of the directors at our local office
was taking cash from families that have children that are pretty severe and I said, why doesn't somebody report this? Well, because they control the area you breathe and I say, well, I'm gonna report it and nobody wanted to hear it, the state level. No one, not even legislators. So you know what I did? I put up a billboard. Ah, I did. It's a dear governor and it was Nixon at the time wearing the state of Missouri. Do I report state employee Medicaid kickbacks? Nothing ever came from it. So I waited a year and I did it again and I also got inside that state department because I wanted to see where this money was going. So let me put it right there to you. In every state we lived in, my daughter could get $100,000 a year, which would pay for caregiving, medical supplies, you name it, even home modifications. And I was pretty used to that,
but I came here to Missouri and I said, how much is her budget? And then I found out why half the people here don't get funding. Her budget was $500,000, half a million dollars. So I would say that her facility should look something like, I don't know, so we call it the- How's my hair? How about the Taj Mahal? I knew I was gonna say that and I thought, oh gosh, that'll date me, won't it? So about $14,000 a day and I said, where is this money going? So I got in as a contractor for five years. Diane, the only reason I'm stopping you here is because this is supposed to be kind of a rapid fire hour and I think we're probably gonna go a little bit too long. So I appreciate the call. Thank you for the information. It was fascinating, but we've got to keep moving. 913-586-7798-913-586-7798.
Sam is opening up his caron. If you don't get in, we will get started with that after John in Kentucky, John, hello. Hello, first I wanna say thank you to Jesse, especially on aviation topics, these tools, so I don't know anything and that's nice getting a good breath of actual information. Oh, thanks John. I'm gonna- Secondly, my grievances with you Scott, every time Poffens come up on the program, I think Dana had one on her porch earlier this week. You mentioned that they eat a lot of ticks. There's a study from the University of Illinois that debunked this myth and then you guys always go by the pronunciation, the basic pronunciation, while hearing Kentucky would just call him dinner. Can I challenge one portion of your grievance? Go ahead. All right, it was not me that said this week that they eat a lot of ticks. I have said that in the past and I have learned that that may not be true, so I've stopped saying that.
It was not me this week. Okay, as long as you don't say it anymore. Okay. Thank you John. Thank you. My takeaway from that was that I've done a great job today and Scott, you need to work on yourself. I think the direct translation would be Jesse that you are very wise and very smart and I am very dumb. All right, 913-586-7798. We've got every line open, so if you get in, we will get you on the air almost immediately. 913-586-7798. Here on Danae Parkes. Hey, I arrived almost here. Are you ready? Just grabbing my shoes. I just wrapped a video call, uploading this giant file on my tablet, looking at my watch group and Nana's with the group chat, and of course, still lining up tonight's playlist on my phone. Let's go to our good friend, Jerry, in Lawrence. Hello, Jerry. Hello. I wasn't planning on calling in, but I really didn't want to hear the caran. And now you won't. Hello. And I appreciate that. Here's my grievance. Is when did we become a society where if we disagree with a rule or a law or a decision, we go to a higher authority. Whoever that higher authority is. We plead our case or present the evidence or present the situation. And it doesn't that decision who is from the higher authority doesn't go our way. We say, well, I'm going to do whatever I want to anyway. Do you have an example?
No, she does. And we don't talk politics on the show. I do not. That's right. We don't talk politics. We're not. Well, that's not the only place though. I understand here. In the world that we live, it does happen frequently. Yes. Some of it happens in politics. I just don't know. I'm in my 62 year old woman when I was raised. I was taught that these are the rules and follow them. If I disagree, that'd bring it up. But if the decision didn't go my way, oh well. And then I do the best I could. When did we, when did this change? That's a great, that's a great question. Do appreciate the call. Thank you for it. DM in payola. DM, hello. Yes. Thank you for taking my call. You're welcome. Thank you. Trying to call many times, and this is the first time getting in. So over the span of the year, maybe even more, I've noticed that I'm driving along. And many times I see the house student driver in the car.
And I look if they're on their way to work, they're on their way home from work, there's no student driver in the car. So I'm just asking that if you do not have a student driver in the car, please remove the stickers because you see those, they're there for a reason. You want to give them respect and be careful and watch out. A lot of room. I'm crying wolf. Yes. A little bit of room. Yeah. That's my that's my grievance. I've had it for a while. Love your guys' show. Thanks. So keep it up. Thank you, Deid. Really appreciate those kind of words. And Greg grievance, by the way, Jeff and Buckner. Hello, Jeff. How's it going? It's going well. Thank you. My grievance is with men who use public restroom only to urinate. And instead of using the urinal, they go into the stall and they urinate all over the toilet seat and don't clean up that self.
And just love it when you're on the show. Appreciate your service. You guys have a good day. You do the same. Thanks, Jeff. That is a grievance of mine as well. Thank you for bringing it up. What man if they do use the sit down stall doesn't lift the seat. That's gross. It's yeah. It's lazy. I see it all the time. Where? Looks like a dang swimming pool sitting on the bed seat. Oh, gross. Austin. And if you do got to get never mind. Are you done? Are you done? I'll drop it. Austin, you know, lay for hello. God, love you guys. I would also like to piggyback off that, guys, because yes, that is a grievance. I think anybody who of any clean nature finds very irritating. So my grievance personally is people who do not turn right on red into the clothes lane. They wait for the outside lane car to pass before they even turn and they sit there for five minutes sometimes. Okay.
Got you. Austin, thanks, man. Do appreciate it. 913-586-7798. We've got two lines open if you want to grab one real quick. Mike in Blue Springs. Hello, Mike. Hey, man. I called you a couple years ago when I retired. I've been listening to you since you were on AM. So I go the way back. Yeah, that's you got me home for all those years. And I really appreciate it. And now I get to listen to you guys on my deck with a frosty beverage. Good for you, man. Good for you. Just want to tell you how much I appreciate you all. Thank you so much. So much. Thank you so much, Mike. That was our first gratitude of the day. Dakota in Kansas City. Hello, Dakota. Hey, I love this show. I call on way too much. I won't lie on that. But anyway, my grievance is we don't have enough water parks around Kansas City. I understand Schlitter von got shut down because of that thing that happened. But I wish we could have found a way to save it. So we have a place to go in this on godly heat because the pools are closed.
And I don't enjoy the devil from down under sitting on Kansas City. It's not enjoyable. OK. Do you guys remember that water park that used to be down in like South O'Latha way back? I mean, you're talking like 10, 15, 20 years. It was one I was a kid. No. 90s. That if anybody knows what that is, yeah, it was a sun park or sun something. If some I know somebody in the text line probably will know it and they'll throw it at the fact that it was good though. It had lots of slides and all kinds of stuff. It was great. OK. Yeah. I have no idea. It was a public or private company. I mean, you paid you paid to get in, but it was sort of like it. I think it was like owned by the city. So it was kind of like a larger version of a swing pool with pretty sweet slides. 913-586-7798, Mike in Osawatomi. Hello, Mike. Yes. Left hand turnlates, satellites, people are switching on cross-line driving the middle of the intersection going to far right. Mike, I kind of think they need to hand out the drivers book when they renew your driver's
license. People need to read it. You're not going to get a disagreement for me at all. I know. I think people should have to retake the driving test, not the physical, not like when you're out in the car with some guy next to you, but do you understand basic rules of the road? OK. A refreshing of the regulations, if you will. I agree with that. If and only if we take the, if you're driving behind a combine with an orange triangle on a country road marked with a blue sign, how many feet must you be behind that combine? 100. If we can get rid of those questions, I'm all for it. My answer to that is, eh, it looks about right. Ramon and LaNexa, hello. Hey, how you doing, guys? We're doing well. Thank you. Hey, my grievance is when you're trying to drive, we are using the GPS and you are, for example, on the East 5087 street, are you thinking that you can just drive straight with and get to your location and you realize that the road doesn't connect.
And you said park, a leg, or a downtown in the middle. I don't know why they call it the same name to the road and say just having a different name to that road. Hmm. OK. I can think of a couple examples, but if by doing so, I would actually give you the name of the streets that I live on, which there are two in my subdivision that have the same name, but they do not connect. I'm sure the police could explain that. I don't know the answer. Henry in Kansas City. Hello, Henry. Well, what kind of got a theme going here? Don't we? Cars, drivers, all the above. It's pretty common. Yeah. Mine's just cars in general. I just, you know, they bring so much frustration and we're just building everything to be car world. You got to drive to everything. Every new shopping center that build as a car wash, which uses, who knows how much water, you know, and we're no one talks about how much water car wash is used. It's just ridiculous. My daughter got rear-ended today. You know, she's a baby, right? That's grandma. Luckily, they're okay.
But, you know, wife's got T-bone and almost destroyed it. Oh my God. There's always something with cars. That's all. And dogs. All right. Hey, do appreciate the call, man. Thank you for it. Kyler in Kansas City. Kyler, good afternoon. Hello. You mean Tyler? Tyler, yes. And do you have your radio on? Yeah, I just turned it out. Okay. Hey, so my grievances with insurance companies and I have a small business and my commercial auto policy last year was $8,900. This year's generated renew. They weren't charging me $14,500 for the year for insurance. I didn't have any claims last year. I did get a speeding ticket, but no claims, no accident, no nothing. And it, you know, $5,000, $6,000 extra, it's crazy. No losses and coverage. I make it pay every month and they basically double it on me. It's insane. It really pisses me off. Why not go to their competition? I'm trying to, but so what? I'm getting close right now, but the requirements I need for some of these get to get a certificate of insurance is really difficult and progressive is like one of the only companies that does
certain ones. But I'm shopping around right now. I'm really in because it went, I was paying $750 a month. It's going to $15,40 I think a month, which is absolutely ridiculous. Crazy. I'm trying to run a business, man. I'm not Walmart. I'm not made of millions, you know? Okay, brother. Got you in. Just a quick reminder, try to refrain from naming companies or private individuals by name. Kathy in Overland Park. Kathy, good afternoon. Hello. Good afternoon. My pet peeve is for women's bathrooms. Why do they not flush the toilet when they're in there doing a heavy duty? It is disgusting. And I see it all the time and all the stores. Well, I thought ladies, my impression was always ladies. We're head better restroom etiquette than men do, but partly I'm mistaken. Well, no. Today I was in a store added to one, two, three, four stalls until I could get a clean toilet. Wait a minute.
You're telling me that you were in a store. Don't name the store. And three of the stalls in a row had heavy duties in them. Yep. Oh, wow. Absolutely. Kathy, I hear you. From all my times at cleaning bathrooms, men and women's restrooms and a gas station of all things, the men's was always cleaner than the women. Interesting. And when I go in a gas station, I always compliment the people if they have clean bathrooms. That is so appreciative when you're driving. Absolutely. All right. I was always under the impression that women don't do heavy duties. And from the text line, many people have chimed in with this and Tyler, I do apologize, but their grievance collectively is that we did not ask Tyler to do a Patrick Mahomes impression. I know. I was going to say it sounds like Patrick Mahomes calling in. Jim and Bates City. Hello. Good afternoon. Is Commander Reed sitting in Dana's chair?
He is. Yes, sir. I can tell. My grievance wasn't until a few minutes ago when he's too young to be disowned, but 15, 20 years ago in the 90s, Commander. Yes, sir. Let's do the math. Oh. You know, thank you for that. Took me a second there. That's only because I feel young at heart, and that still only feels like 15 to 20 years ago. But yes, this is now more than that. We got a handful of lines open. If you want in, we'll get you in in the next segment. Guaranteed 913-586-7798-586-7798. Let's just shout across the ballot data, too. We're on data in parks. We do have some lines open. I don't know where everybody's going today. I got to just say real quick, Jim. Thank you for humbling me there.
That was awesome. That was so funny. Is the Commander sitting in Dana's seat? I get to. I truly in my mind when I think about high school, I think, oh, that was 15, 20 years ago. No. That's longer than that. Thank you for reminding me. I'm old 913-586-7798. Does golf land sun splash ring a bell? That's it. That was the place. That's the O'Lathe Water Park that close 15 years ago in the 90s. So, just see, how are those AARP benefits treating? Where am I? Who are you? 913-586-7798. Let's go to Ken in Lawrence. Hello, Ken. Hello, guys. Hi. I just want to say we got a grant for all you guys. I'm ready to go with the third. But we get to listen to you and I have one other grant of two. Did my wife, Diana, put it with me for 49 years on last Wednesday. Oh, I have the anniversary. Yep. And Mr. Scott used to come in my sporting store in Lawrence, so it's good to hear you and see you. Are you playing at number 50? She's got a good, we're playing at number 75.
Oh, good. Good. I guess I'm stuck for a while, huh? I'm going to be on. Hey, Ken, you have a great weekend and happy anniversary again. Thank you, buddy. You all have a great weekend yourself. Be safe. All right. Rhonda in St. Joe. Rhonda, hello. Hi. Hey, a year ago, I had major surgery. I was on vacation in my intestines, blue apart, had major surgery. Oh, gosh. Have great insurance, covered everything except for $89. And it's not that I don't have the $89. My deductible was met. Even the insurance company said, yep, it's met. You don't know it. And they're still fighting me over it. And I thought, you know what? If you're doing it to me, who else are you doing it to? I'm a nurse. I know how to navigate the system. I feel bad for people who don't know. And they'll just pay that $89. It's ridiculous. Okay. You're right. Well, health care is one of those things that you buy it.
And you don't even know it, the negotiated prices before you buy it. My grievances with Scott says $2909, stop bad mouthing the movie Armageddon. You can suspend your disbelief and believe that Maverick can survive being ejected from a fighter jet? Isn't that the whole point of... Well, you didn't read the rest of his comment. Flying Mach 10.2 at $60,000. Oh, yeah. Okay. I didn't know where the rest of it was. I mean, he was in a space suit, basically. But even still, that's going to be tough to survive. Why would it be tough to survive? I mean, no, it's not. No, it's exactly realistic. It's all the look in your fight. He got this fearful look in his face. Don't you do it? Why would it be hard to survive? That speed is fast. So fast enough that the jets, like basically catching on fire in the atmosphere. Yeah. And barely, barely surviving itself. Now, maybe he held off on ejecting until it slowed down. That's probably what happened. Yeah, movie. Scott has a new grievance.
My grievance is with Commander Jesse Reed. Oh, we haven't heard your grievance yet, by the way. Okay, very quickly. 913-586-7798. We will get you in for sure before the end of this segment. 913-586-7798. My grievance is with older men. And I consider myself younger than they are. So you can figure out roughly the age. Older men who shower at the gym and walk around and walk right in front of you while you're sitting on the bench between in the lockers. Yep. And you're putting your tying on your shoes and everything and getting your water bottle and putting the stuff you're not taking up to the gym in your locker. And they walk right in front of you completely naked for the love of God in heaven. Rap a tell around it. Put something around that thing. Can I expand on your grievance? Yes. When they decide they want to have a conversation with you. So they go two lockers over and they put one foot up on the bench,
giving you a full display. At least they're sitting there staring at your locker responding to what they're saying to you. Like, is this over yet? Cause I'm not looking. That's bad. At least they're not trying to pick my words carefully here. They're not getting into your personal bubble, so to speak. Yes, they are. Speaking too close, there was a health club I used to go to where they actually sat on the leather seats and would read the newspapers but naked. No towel wrapped around them. It was like a nice health club when I lived in Seattle. I don't, I simply honest to God, I don't understand. Just because you can do it does not mean you should. You know, you cannot do it. You're putting your private, yeah, uglies on the leather seat. Casina, I hope I pronounced that correctly in gardener. Hello. Yeah, Katina, you're right. Hi. Hi, my grievances. My daughter is a midshipman at the Naval Academy. Oh, sweet. And since being heightened aware of this, I have grievances when folks don't respect the national anthem or the start single banner played before, you know, sporting events and things like that.
And at a local high school game, we were there and during the national anthem seems to have talked the whole way through and we're kind of messing around. I mean, all levels really. Because Casina, when did your daughter start again? What was she is? Like both, she's a youngster. She's a youngster? I'm pretty sure I was your daughter's blue and gold officer two years ago. Are you sure you were too? Yes. Yeah, the twins, right? I do. Yes, there are two rock stars you guys raised there down in Gardner. Yeah, they're she's doing well. Awesome. That's great to hear. Have a great weekend. Sorry. Sorry for the inside baseball there, guys. What is a blue and gold officer? So I, um, my, one of my jobs that I do have volunteered for here in Kansas City is I'm assigned a few school districts and I interview kids that are trying to get into the Naval Academy. And so two years ago, um, their daughter, who's now a sophomore, she used the term youngster. That's the kind of the slang term for a sophomore at the Naval Academy. And, uh, they raised two twins and, uh, she was one of the girls that I interviewed
and was an absolute rock star. Yeah. Brian in Belton. Hello. Hey guys, how are you? We're doing well. Thank you. Hey, I'm glad to hear from everybody. First time caller on a particular second of the show. Well, glad you calling in. Thank you. Go ahead. Right. Well, first off, I want to make a comment about an earlier situation that you brought up and I apologize for anybody and everybody. I am not that guy who gives you the bald eagle shop when you're in the shower room at the gym. Thank you. I appreciate that. I know the you shot. Alright, I agree with you. And I started a job and there's some, some tough times started a job through a temp company. The company I was working for after my contract was over. They really were happy with my performance and they offered me two dollars more an hour to continue employment through them.
And I was grateful. I was happy. I stayed on more and more responsibilities and they told me when race time was going to come up and I was like, Oh, up now I'm not just working on the machine. I'm doing four clips. I'm, you know, doing all these other things. They slide me a piece of paper across the table with my new raise for 13. Then overworked underpaid. Hey, Brian, do appreciate the comment. Don't be a stranger. Clark in Waldo. Hello, Clark. Hi. How are you guys doing? We're doing well. Thank you. My grievance today is about a development company that has been cutting down trees to survey a site around a civil war cemetery that's kind of been lost in the woods. But they, the, the developer has been aware of the cemetery.
They hired contractors without putting up any flags or fencing. They've just continued to cut down trees and run heavy machinery back around the cemetery area. And it just really bothers me that they're not looking out close here for preserving our Kansas City heritage. Such a lack of life and sound. All that's left is bare muddy ground. A magnificent tree was murdered. The mighty dollar cut it down. There's a hole in the sky where the tree once was. Come on. It's making money. There's a hole in the sky where the tree once was. Somebody's making money. Laws protect exceptional trees, but the city grants exemptions to these. Instead, they reward the developers greed and sanction the murderers deeds. There's a hole in the sky where the tree once was. Can you get us for me and where this is from?
I remember here in this last week as I drove home. It's a crazy lady up in Seattle or something. That's right. Thank you for the very serious grievance. Do what? I was thinking Clark for his serious. Absolutely. Are you familiar with this? Because he's called in from Waldo. Is this in New York? I have not heard of that going on. I didn't even know there was a civil war cemetery nearby, but I'll have to check out what he's talking about. Oh, is he in South Kansas City? Hello, is he? Hi. Hi there. I hope you guys have a really great day. You guys are awesome. Oh, thank you. Thanks, is he? Yeah, I was calling because my grievances is when people around here, they like to like punish you when you're driving. Like if you have to like break real suddenly behind them and so then they'll take off slow because they don't like that. Or they think you're driving too fast and then they'll move in your lane to slow you down even though they go right back to the other lane to turn. But it's just punishing you. And I go to this beach shop off of homes and Blue Ridge or yeah, Blue Ridge Boulevard.
And the only exited entry is at a stop light. So whenever I have to pull out, I'm going right out at a traffic light. And I cannot tell you how many times I get haunted or people will block me and hold that spot so that I can't even get anywhere. And then they'll like shake their finger at me. That's my grievances. Oh, tired of people giving me the finger. Well, I can understand. I would be tired of getting used to that. No, 913 586 7 7 9 8, Commander, just read Sam Stevie. I didn't really have a major agreement, but I did have one that I thought you guys might not are taming.
So I do like Maverick, top gun. I was like, this is nothing but Star Wars new hope. Like from 1970s straight out. You got Rooster, who's Luke Skywalker, you got Obi-Wan Kenobi character, you got Leah in there somewhere. You got the guy that is playing Han Solo who shows up at the last minute, you know, to save the day. They even go as far as to fly through the trenches of what would be, you know, the best star. And then at the very end, he uses the force to take the shot. I'm just saying, I felt like I was watching the exact same movie, but it was still a good movie. I'll say that. Okay. Well, you're banned from the show for the next two weeks. Come on. Am I wrong, Seth? No, you're minor parallel. There are definitely, now that you've pointed it out, yes, but it is very formulaic and they follow a good versus evil. You know, there has to be a challenge and then it looks like they're not going to make it.
And then of course they end up beating the evil ones. Okay, nerds. All on the end is I would have let the whole, I would have let the whole thing go. The whole philosophy, the whole theory go if you hadn't used the force to take the shot. Okay. Days of Thunder is basically top gun on four wheels. Big Al in Blue Springs. Hello, big Al. Hey, I hope you all have a great week. As you've entertained me all week. Well, thank you very much. That's very kind. Welcome. And here's a welcome. I'm sorry. My experiences with these people who believe that they should monitor the speed limits while we drive down the road. And by that, I mean, they've stayed behind. They stand in front of you in cars from what the street is and make you do the speed limit. They want you to do. All right. Big Al. I'm going to cut you off there only because you're cutting out. And it's kind of hard to understand you, but I think we got the gist. People that change lanes in front of you to keep you driving slowly. John in Spring Hill, you get the last word. Hello, John.
Yeah. I agree with you today is these. These what they're back property management companies that want to transfer the tents out of their deposits on Bluebelt. I've got a company right now that's trying to make us do the make ready for the next kid. And that's not my responsibility. Okay. All right. Got you in Sam. We got about 20 seconds. Do you have a grievance this week or not? My grievance and I see it all the time. And I have been the subject or suspect in this crime before. And it's when somebody is walking and you don't see them and you go to like kind of roll the stop sign. And then you wave them on because you're like obviously there in a hurry. And then they wave you on so you walk in front of them and then you can just feel them staring at you the whole time. Like, dude, I waved you on. Just go. And I have also been the guy in the truck who almost hit somebody from rolling stuff.
I tell the kids maintain eye contact when you cross the street. Look at the drivers in the eye. Have a nonverbal interaction contract established like, yes, may I go? Not my head. Yes, yes.
