Hour 3: LSU kicked out of the SEC?!

0:00Okay. Um, by the way, Dan Campbell speaking today and he sits confirmed that Tom Kennedy will be playing on Sunday. Has he been activated yet? I don't know, but he will be playing. Yes. I think quite frankly that Tom Kennedy will be activated every year for here until eternity. It's just the way it is. Tom Kennedy gets released at the end of training camp. Tom Kennedy signs on the practice squad. Tom Kennedy plays for the Lions. Yes. Then gets released by the Lions and gets invited back as on the 90 man works his way through training camp. It's released a training camp. Yeah. A different variation of the Andre Fluel and you know, Fluel and number one away. But this is, I think he's probably top Fluel. I think this is, I believe this is his eighth season. Yeah. He's got a lot of clients. You know how many times he's made the team out of training camp in those eight seasons? Probably zero once.

1:00He made it once. One year he was on the injured list and now the other six. Well, this is going to be number two. Yeah. Well, no, it's not. He got cut at the end of training camp added to the practice squad and then gets activated. There's, it's different than making the 53. Well, he's made it Sunday. He's going to be on the 53, right? Yes, but the initial 53 he has only made one time in his career. Well, look, that's what my research showed. That's no, maybe it's maybe it's, no, my question is about it this year. Maybe it's been a challenge. Maybe it's minutiae, right? Um, I brought up something there that I said he didn't think there'd ever been a Hail Mary completed at the big house by Michigan. Right. And it was a game. I have vague memories of this because I wasn't there and now not every game was on television. So I was probably interestingly listening to it on the radio. And I think at the end of a half with the Michael Taylor, Demetrius Brown era, one of them

2:05through a Hail Mary against Demetri's Brown through seven interceptions in a game too, if I remember correctly, right? Stoney, it's completely irrelevant to the story, but yes, he did. Yes, he did. Do you want to run down Michael Taylor's bad games as well? No. Anyway, what is that era? Sure. Yeah, he did. In that era, one of them, I swear against Indiana, I'd have through a Hail Mary that Grigmic Mertry caught. Maybe I'm wrong. The other thing is here, that LSU story, I know, it's wild. Kick that of the SEC. Kick that of the SEC. First of all, think about the idea of all the things that have happened in the southeastern conference historically. And nobody's been kicked out. I know. And all the things that have gone on down there, and nobody's been kicked out, including LSU's current basketball situation and their coach. And the SEC is seeking a provision to trigger the ability to kick them out.

4:12They just want to have that in their back pocket. They're not saying that we're going to kick them out now. No. They just want, you know, I mean, are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? I mean, I just think back to all the stuff that's happened in the southeastern conference. Cam Newton, he went to the highest bidder, right? That was illegal back then. This guy Lane Kiffin has in less than a year, less than a year on the job. He's coached one game at LSU. And he's been in that conference before. Yes. Twice. This is his third team in the SEC. He was assisted for saving at Alabama. He was head coach of Tennessee. He's head coach of Tennessee. He was a head coach at Ole Miss. This is his fourth team. This is the third. He's a head coach. Unbelievable. Stony loves this because he wants the villain.

5:13I mean, he's a super villain. Absolutely. I think it's great for the sports world. You need people though. Well, if he's kicking, he's kicking. Sorry, if he's kicking. I'm hate. You need people to hate. Stony, but if he's kicked out, he's out. Does that mean he's no longer a villain in the, you know, the conference or is it? He's no longer a villain in the SEC. He could go somewhere else and be a villain. Yeah. Okay. Yes. Batman, they just didn't hang out and got them city. They went to other places and then came back. Did they? Okay. Let's say I only knew about Gotham, I feel like. I got to tell you, this is absolutely hysterical to me. Yeah. Is there any way they actually get kicked out? Oh, I don't think so. 7:19and that kind of stuff. Coach to player communication. Coach to player. And you know what? Gee, what a concept. Maybe your quarterback can use signals or whatever or act, how about this? Call your own plays. Or run guys out like it used to be. It was like, and I was just thinking, what in sports do you wish, you know, could come back that like me? I don't know. We're going to get a lot of people saying they don't like the transfer portal or. Right. I don't want the pack 12 back. Does that count? Yeah, that's a good one. Okay. That's a good one. I, you know, I want the pack eight back, but that's a whole different story. Sure. However, like here's something simple. I mean, I mean, not to take it, make it modeling, but one of the, one of the bad things about COVID was I want, I want coaches in college basketball on the NBA to wear like sport coats and what they used to not all look the same way warm ups. Really? Yeah. To me, that's, and also in that, I think there should be a limit on assistant coaches in

8:22all sports. And I know I'll take away jobs. Why? Because it's, I don't know. I mean, at least the one sitting on the bench, Tony, the NBA is getting ridiculous. I get it too right. I'm going to ask this question. Two rows of assisted coaches. Ask yourself this question. How does this impact you in any way? The number of people sitting on the bench because I think the amount of coaching that goes on in both, in all sports, particularly football and basketball, I think it's kind of messed up the game a little bit. It's, to me, it's not as free-flowing. It's, you know, it's all about the scouting and the coaching is so good. It's about matchups so much. It's like, let him play, you know? I don't know. Oh, okay. You do it with your teams first. Yeah. Yeah. Have all your favorite teams empty the bench of all the coaches and play in a deficit. I mean, the bad boys, one who are three assisted coaches?

9:24They threw up on the screen famous sports power outages. Then I was at one of them. Oh. What's that? That was the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans. Oh, yeah. And what's funny about that is in the moment in time, the power went out for just a section of lights, Gator and I were there. Power went out for a section of lights. We were sitting in the upper deck and we were just like, so what? Like, play the game. This still looked like there was enough light. But you know what? Never crossed my mind and apparently everybody else was thinking it. Is there some sort of attack going on? Is there some sort of, is this, is this something? Well, there are other conspiracy people who thought that they, it was done on purpose to get Baltimore back in the game or whoever. Yeah. I don't know because the game switched at that. God conspiracy theory people are great. Aren't they? They're the worst. Anyway, you're the, I was at that one, which was weird, but the other times when the

The 2013 Super Bowl. And then last night, yeah, no coach supplier communication, no iPads, no PA announcer, no scoreboard. They eventually got that going. What was hysterical? No PA announcer for a PA announcer like myself. I think that's heinous. Well, there was two things that I noticed. Well, it's hysterical. I'm sure everybody did. They had their graphic up there with the, the score bug and all that because ABC, ABC still had power, but they said they've made a little note on the graphic official time being kept on the field. Yes. Which I thought they probably wouldn't have used that if not for something that happened this past weekend. The other thing was just out of curiosity, I was able to use the varsity network app and tune into the SMU feed. They were doing it over the phone. Oh, God. And I wondered if they had one cell phone with two guys talking and they were going back

11:31and forth with the two cell phones where they put them both on the air at the same time, but they were doing the play by play over the phone. By the way, it looked like on television, like during the delay, it's like, you can play, it's light enough. That's what I thought in the Super Bowl. But whatever. 248, 539, 97, 97. I'm concerned about how everybody keeps talking about this one second thing. It's my whole thing. I'm playing Western Michigan for one reason. They know who I'm talking about. The Hail Mary was coming. Why was it prepared for the Hail Mary? We could always hold some of the same thing over and over again by the one second. They give millions of dollars to coaches team. All they had to do for a long season there. They've blocked the ball there. That's how you're 40 y'all. Thank y'all. All right, well, they, I mean, I don't think their coaches make millions and millions of dollars at Western Michigan.

12:31But I think it was, it's just, it's such a cool thing. It's a different topic. Carlos, it is a different topic. Like there is a, Coach football has a problem with a vulnerability in their system, which allowed this to happen. And I can't believe it happened here. But it, it happened. And so that needs to get tightened up. If, you know, if I'm Western Michigan, if I'm in that coaching staff, one of the things you're probably doing at this time is reviewing how you're going to do it. What was it? They did it. They did it right the first time. And then I think there were, there were three different alignments because Michigan lined up three different times. The first one that went incomplete, the second time they lined up and Western called time out. And the third time they lined up and the play and it was completed. Right. And then the first time, Western lined up differently. And maybe it was by design. Maybe it wasn't. I don't know. But on the, I see, I got the notes here. The first tail Mary, they have four guys in the line of scrimmage.

13:32Everybody else was five yards off the line or playing deep center field. The second time they lined up and called time out, they had seven guys on the line of scrimmage. Seven. They called the time out. The third time they lined up, they had five in the box. On the line of scrimmage and a corner back on the line of scrimmage. They had six on the line of scrimmage and then everybody else playing center field. On the snap, the corner blitzed three of the defensive linemen rushed and two dropped into coverage. I will tell you this, when you give up a Hail Mary, it was Michigan dating against Colorado. I spent the better part of the night and I think they had a by week after that. And I was doing radio and Ann Arbor and another radio life. And we took two weeks of calls of people telling you how to defend the Hail Mary because Michigan rushed three and dropped eight into coverage. Right. And it didn't work. Yeah. Well, look, I mean, look, obviously Western Michigan was preparing for that back and forth kind of thing. Well, I mean, that's what Jim Cobb also.

14:34Yeah, exactly. I mean, look, it's, when you give up a miracle play, you're always going, well, what the hell did we do wrong? What could you have done differently? Right. That's kind of why I don't buy the conspiracy. I don't want to go on the second because he can, he can tell me that they're going to sit there and say, wait a second, we got to put a second back on the clock just on the a million to one, two million to one shot that this play that you never works happens. There was going to be conspiracy would have thrown a flag and called pass interference on the first one or they would have, he said there was a adverse whistle when Bryce was fumbled, they would have thrown 55 holding penalties on Western. That's why I don't buy it. No, but bottom line is, you know, I think Western's gonna have an exceptionally good season, an exceptionally good season. 248-539-9797. 16:41The southeastern conference has scheduled a meeting Thursday to decide whether to terminate LSU as an SEC member institution. We're suiting the section 3.1.5 of the SEC Constitution and bylaws. You know what this reminds me of? In some ways, the bear is going to hamond. This isn't really going to happen, is it? No, it's not going to happen. The bear is going to go to hamond. That's happening. Yeah, I know. That's happening. This ain't happening. No, this ain't happening. No, this is just a threat. I'm not going to ban LSU. They're kicking him out. I would ever. Would that be effective this year? Like immediately? Yeah. Or at the end of the year. They have to give him two weeks notice. A farewell season. A farewell tour for LSU. Yeah, I'll make the basketball team.

17:42I actually have to play actual students on their teams and say, membership of any member institution may be terminated involuntarily at a meeting of the chief executive officers. A vote of at least two thirds of all chief executive officers is required to terminate membership. Any motion to terminate membership sells, specify the effective date of the proposed termination. So what did they do? They had to kick those three guys out of school that they signed from the NFL, right? I don't know if they could be in school. They just can't play. Well, they didn't play the first game anymore. No, they didn't. So if 12 of the. Well, wait, is there 16 teams or 16 teams in the SEC? I believe so. So obviously LSU won't be in on this vote. So the other 15 if 10 of the other 15 schools vote, yes. LSU is getting kicked out of the southeastern conference. Now what they're doing is they're going to get. They're going to allow LSU to play their own game.

18:45They're going to extort money from LSU to vote in favor of this and favor of them. So they won't have to kick them out. So all the other members schools will be making money. That's the LSU way. Understand what I'm saying? No. Okay. LSU has been known for years of, you know, illegal stuff. So the end of the SEC that ticked off with that LSU. So I'm going to say, all right, is what we're going to do. We're going to kick you out. But there's going to be like five or six schools that will vote in favor of LSU if they get paid. Like millions of dollars for their school. Oh, so LSU is going to buy votes to stay? Yes. They're going to extort the extortionists. Didn't you literally just say conspiracy theorists are the worst? Yeah. Didn't you say that earlier this hour? What are you making up? What are you doing? Exactly. Okay. But what's crazy is, it's like I think Nick Baumgarner put this out on Twitter.

19:51LSU throughout their history, the O'Jouran and the less miles years. That wasn't enough to get them kicked out. I mean, nothing anybody did in the southeastern conference was ever enough. I know. And now Elaine Kiffin comes along and they're like, screw it. We're getting rid of it. We'll just kick you out. I mean, it's probably more of a threat, right? Anything that's just like you. That's why I said it's not going to happen. Yep. That's unbelievable. The fact that he even went to a vote though, that it's going to a vote on Thursday. Man, 2485399797. From Anthony Ken, an underwood reminds me of Caleb Williams, the armed talent and occasional ability to make an unbelievable throw is undeniable. But he has trouble with fundamentals and doing the ordinary, which a quarterback needs to do much more often than the extraordinary. He has not ready to play at this level and give him proper time in coaching to develop. He could be a top 10 NFL pick. The problem is they really do, do they have anybody else?

20:55And if, let's say it's Tommy Carr, who's a true freshman and he becomes okay if he replaces Bryce Underwood, then Underwood's probably going to transfer. Well, yeah, I mean, but I say this all the time because we do this and I've said it about all of our teams. Don't get caught up in, nobody should get caught up in the agenda of just developing Bryce Underwood. They got their, their agendas to win games and in that process, they hope that they are developing, uh, Bryce Underwood. Look, uh, Underwood thing is not any kind of, there's, I don't want to say no defense in the way he's played because he's, he's a young developing quarterback where you hope he's developing. But it's been, it's been very subpar, right? Yeah. And, uh, Joe Rexrow just did a piece for the athletic comparing him and his growth curve,

21:58the quarterbacks, it's similar times in their careers. And you know, he, what Bryce is going through is not unusual. Does he give some examples? Uh, he says the closest terms of rankings was number two, Dante Moore, who got five starts in 2023 at UCLA. Check what they were saying about, see what they were saying about Moore, who might be the number one pick in the next draft after those rough or a glimpses and compared to today's Underwood discussion. Yeah, well, he transferred. Bryce Young got a years of backup at college, CJ Stroud Redshirted at an old time, he sports term. Uh, Joe Barrow didn't start to his fourth year of college. Archmannings third season of college was an overhyped disaster until he hung in and finished it with promise. Uh, imagine the same level of hype and an attempt by manning to live up to it two years earlier. That's what Underwood experience in 2024. Um, you know, he, he basically compares it to a learning curve for a lot of young players and which is true.

22:59The problem is in today's society of the portal and the lane kittens of the world, people don't have patience to let guys develop well. And I get it, right? I get it. You feel like the next guy has to be better. Um, or, or it could be worse. And the other thing is people are get fixated too much on what they paid him. So that the problem and that, and I get why people say they're getting paid. How much money is in his bank account? Doesn't fundamentally change who he is as a person or a physical skill set. I, I totally agree with you. And that's why, like I said, I love for the actual game, but I love Saturdays. Once the game starts, the other stuff goes away. Yep. I don't care what a player got paid to go to Michigan, Michigan state or high estate, Alabama, LSU anywhere. Right. It doesn't change fundamentally their chances of success. They have to do the work still.

24:00If they don't get paid, they have the same chance to get, be successful as if they do get paid. And one thing I'll say in defense of Bryce and it's, it's not that he's not trying is his work ethic. Everybody says that he puts in all of the effort. You know, at some point, there got to be results and they got to, they got to win games. They got to win games. So two, four, eight, five, three, nine, ninety seven, ninety seven. This is not a year that Michigan was expected to compete for the national championship. Very few people had them in the post season. No, I mean, most people, if you did a poll, had them at eight and four, the most encouraging thing came from the story in the athletic that had unnamed coaches and general managers and people that worked in football around college football that said three of 19 people said they might be a sleeper for the college football playoff. But you know that, that is, that means they're going to endure some losses. And the first one very well could be this Saturday when a loaded Oklahoma team comes

26:05And then the third thing is if right should leave and go in the portal. What is he older? What does he have to give back or how much is he paid up? Is he not paid up the whole shot up front? Is he? I don't think so. I think it's a paid year. No idea. I think. I've no, you know, each guy's probably different. Maybe there was a signing bonus. I don't know. I don't care. No, and I don't know, Kevin. I mean, if it's, this is the business side of it that I don't have any idea. So sorry. You got to, okay, well, you got to believe if they, if they bench him, he's going to run right away. Something's got to happen with all the money he's been giving out with space. Yeah. I'm not sure. It experience matters, man. It's fun watching quarterbacks who can manipulate defenses. And it'll be interesting to see now that they've got game film. Can they make a proper, proper adjustments? I mean, the other thing he brought up Trinidad Chambas. He says, well, last year he did it right. Well, he played it first for a couple of years, right?
