Afternoon Drive on The Fan — Hour 1: How motivated will Deshaun Watson be this Browns season? + Quick Hits. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
It's Wednesday. Home. It's a hum-dead edition of Afternoon Drop. Trilvini bright field to Barris. He's looking up. He'll win. Goodbye. Barcelona. Bash is a two-out-three run homer. He hit and roke you with a line drive single in a center field. We'll score two. Focke. The guardians have even the series in a game of peace. That's a massive speed bump that he had. That was that thing should have taken the car off the road. That's how disastrous that was. And I think if you believe it's a minor blip or a speed bump, it's because you want to. But like, there's a part of me that really struggles. That this idea that, hey, to Sean carried around this anger, this rage, this hurt in his heart for two years, and now that he said it, he's moved on. I really struggle with that. We're in a judge in bowling green. My people will take care of you, John Steinbacher. That's what we need to do. We need to find a judge that is obviously going to be anti-Mission. There has to be a judge in bowling green that I've got an absolutely blind-stinking drunk with before.
Sure. I will pick up the phone and I'll just be like, were you in the Falcon's Bargain Band in 2000? That was you. A real risk to cut. I have pictures of you. Or I at least have a very telling story of you. It's the afternoon drive with Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterl, on Cleveland's sports radio, 92-3, the fan. The show is back in so is football. Bebe, that's right. Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterl and with you for the next five hours, are asses are yours. And that open courtesy of Guardians TV and Michael Marcaach on the board. Yes. Hello to the Ginger St. of Cleveland Sports. We got Jake Marin, men in the 92 through the fan YouTube channel. And of course, producing today, as always, listen to show all five hours. So 92 through the fan on the free Odyssey app, or you can watch all five hours long on 92 through the fan's YouTube channel. Don't forget to ring that bell. Set you a corn little. Suck it corn little. And like our videos, we desperately like to be liked around these parts. And Meredith Kane in the 2020s today, we got big day for the Gartos. Can they get the series up? I'm not going to bleep over on the desk here. See Hawks Patriots on this very station later tonight. And yes, we are one day closer to the Browns V the Jags. Hi JP. Hello. How's it going today? I got so much energy today. Good. Energy out the Ying Ying today. Feeling good. We like that. You sound like you have a lot of energy today. Football is back and that's a beautiful thing. Now, if you listen to the Nick talk that I made earlier today, and Nick Wilson says, by the way, on TikTok, it will sound like I'm on Death's Doorstep. I was using my lower voice. I just woke up. I was trying to get stuff out the door to make the Nick talk you were. Yeah, yeah. So I was like, I almost, I gave you a little bit of a, give you a little bit of that berry white treatment. What does that sound like? It was low and it was slow. Okay. But you kept the deep voice with it.
I thought you were going to go, I don't know. Well, and then also sound like a, that choir boy or something. Yeah, no, no, no, that would have been weird. But no, we're feeling good today. And we are like, I'm the closer we're getting to Sunday's game. I'm intrigued. All right. I'm happy to hear that you're intrigued. All right. A little bewildered. A little shock just takes the shock. The shocking tech would be that you're not intrigued right now. Yeah, that's fair. I think there's a lot of Browns fans that maybe feel that way. But again, I think it's impossible for me and you to do this day and day out and be like, there's not a few things we're interested in about Sunday. There's a lot of things we're interested in about Sunday. And I do like that we have a little soft launch of the season. While I cherish my game day ritual, one of the, one of the best things about being a Browns fan is that you're almost always at one PM on Sunday because nobody wants to watch this bleep in prime time. And the benefit of that is I get my rituals. Okay. That being said, I do like the soft launch, a little football tonight, a little football tomorrow. This isn't a soft launch. This is a hard launch. This is which Wednesday, Thursday, it is the Patriot Sunday. It is Monday.
It is a Cleveland or what do we have interest in other than maybe like a last 11th hour receney report? It's a buffet of football though. This is like the NFL season doesn't just start and enter with a whimper. I mean, this is this again Wednesday, Thursday, all day Sunday, Sunday night, Monday night football like this is they hit you with a lot out of the game. I think they go from starving you for months to then all of a sudden just overloading you with all sorts of football. I'm excited about football tonight. You should listen to it right here in this station. Could we have had a better game? Could we have swapped the games? Tomorrow be the Patriot Seahawks and today be the Rams versus the 49ers down under. Yeah, I would have much preferred that. I think everyone would have much preferred that although it's weird at the gambling streets and then also just the streets in general really they like this Patriots team for some reason tonight and I cannot figure out any I can't figure out a reason. And the same sentence where everyone's like not everyone but a large majority of people today come out and been like, Donald's going to repeat the Seahawks are winning back to back Super Bowl, which is not something I heard the entirety of the off season. It's now like in the last 20-friars become very primed to be like the Seahawks are doubling up
but yeah, a lot of people are excited for this Patriot team. I'm really glad you said that by the way, just real quick here to start the show because everyone's doing the same bit, which is you know, no one's talking about the Seahawks and their ability to repeat but we're going to go ahead and do that. And it's like I did everybody get like the same memo. Is there no glitch in the matrix because it does feel like in the last 24 hours everyone's turned their sights to not enough people are talking about the Seahawks while seemingly everyone's talking about the Seahawks. Here's my take on the amount of takes that happen nationally, okay? My take on their takes. Take on takes. Everyone in the national media space is just trying to jockey for their own corner. That's all anyone's doing. It's like who planted the flag on my homes? Now who can plant the flag on Josh Allen? Now who can plant the flag on Kayla Williams before anybody else could plant the flag on Kayla Williams? All this jockeying to have the corner that then they can fanboy the most over and then tell everybody how they were right about this person and this everything. And so I think what happened is everyone spent the entire off season talking about the Rams in those editions and kind of you know getting their little corners.
And it's like oh I think the Rams are going to be great. I think I think the 49ers are going to be great. Here's your reasons XY and Z and then the dust settled and they looked around and said wait a second. Nobody's picked the Super Bowl champion from last year. Like that team basically that team hasn't changed with the exception of Kenneth Walker now playing running back for Kansas City. That teams barely changed. Why don't I go ahead and plant my flag down in that corner? I'll take some real estate and some residents up with Seahawks drive. And that's how you end up with just a boatload of the Seahawks are doubling this whole thing up. It's why they need to have a little foresight the national media. You should have seen this coming so you could pivot and be like I still think the Seahawks are overrated. And let me tell you why you really could have served some people. I think this I think today was predictable if we had thought about it ahead of time. And as we think about things ahead of time, we do have the Browns and Jags and Jacksonville on Sunday. And today, Dishon Watson met with the media as the starting quarterback of a team does. He is one of the five captains for the Browns this week. And again, it is a Velcro C, but don't worry.
That's for every Browns captain this year. You could rip that right off. And one of the things he was asked about was whether he, whether he had kind of thought of the Buffalo game. When was like the last time he thought of the Buffalo game in here was his answer? It's been a while since that Buffalo game out of your mind. Which Buffalo game? Preseason. Oh, yeah, I mean, yeah, I'm not worried about that. You know, we focus on now. You know, it's about what we got what we can do now. So it's not about what we were about in the future. All right, in the past, excuse me. You know, we're not worried about 24. We're not worried about last year. We're not playing. We're not worried about the preseason. Right now we got to focus on Jacksonville. Now, I think there's a fair amount of people who where we are with Dishon is. He's the quarterback. And we're just going to put a good face on about it. I heard Jeff and Andy come out of the Dishon press conference. And the message was, he's starting quarterback and I want him to succeed. And it felt like, and I'm inferring this. But so I'm going to believe what he just said about anything. I think the most telling part of his answer was the, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, they're in between the cliche machine and the question.
What do you think he genuinely forgot about the bills? No. Do you think he, because there are a couple of things either happen there. Either A, he was just being dense intentionally. And maybe that was part of that B. He was just acting and that could go hand in hand with A or C. Monkin and the team of the Browns have done a fantastic job of wiping away what is supposed to be a dark cloud that hangs over Dishon Watson. Everything that existed within that bills game and then the following press conference that happened after that game to the point where even Dishon is just so focused. He's doing the Jimmy Butler. We're taking the rear view mirrors. We're taking them off the car. They don't even exist on our car anymore. We're windshield people. That's very dangerous. We're windshield people now. That's how you, that's how you get into a real boss. He actually took off the, we still alive. That's the most impressive part. He can't, he can't look behind himself right now. But that's the idea. The idea here is Dishon is so hyper focused windshield. And what's in front of him? But what happens if there's a attractive person you want to look at? But you don't want to be obvious. That's kind of what that's one of the secondary reasons why we have rear view windshield. Try to look at attractive people. Don't act like you're above this. No, back to my single days.
Not now, because we're spoken for. I'm not going to act like I'm above it. I'm not going to act like a creeper. You're like, well, I'm just going to look right here. It's going to make sure that what I saw was what I saw. And then I saw it and it was good. Yeah, moving on. I mean, we're all guilty of that, right? We've all looked at the rear view mirror and then Ben like, all right, I mean, even now it's just, you're just looking. I saw Blue, right? No, no, no, no. Harmon just looking. I saw, I saw, yeah, I saw propane driver Walmart today. And she was like a Cleveland 8. And I was like, I don't understand this. She was the propane driver. Yes, she was the propane driver. She's like, those giant things to propane. She's out there. And I'm just like, where's Mac Robinson? I got to call him. I call all my single fellas because this feels like a worker. All right, you can tell that woman was sturdy, but very attractive. And this is going to be good for whoever lands her. She was sturdy. Yeah, I didn't mean in a bad way. She was like double hand in those giant propane tanks. I was like, I don't know my fat ass could do that. Sounds impressive. I mean, I feel like you're like three times as attracted to her
because she was doing a blue collar job. Well, I mean, these colors don't run. I'm hungarian. So blue collar, we're going to do what we're going to do. But no, so what do you think it is? It was the Sean acting or was the Sean at the Browns done such a good job of making sure that he's windshield focused. He's only looking at what's in front of him that he's erased. He's erased the comments that he made and then he's erased the actual game where he looked about as bad as have ever seen to Sean Watson play. And I've seen him play a lot of really bad football. I think this is a scenario of fake it till you make it. And I think that's exactly what the Sean should do. I do that like you can't change. There's no football you can play until Sunday that can change the narrative or change how you feel or how you felt. And so until then, yes, you should just go ahead and gaslight yourself. I have no problem with the Sean coming out and being like, oh, what Buffalo game? I mean, I think you know what Buffalo game. I genuinely think he knows what Buffalo game. But you know what? Just act like it never happened. That's the smartest thing you can do at this point. I genuinely think he just lumps that game into what happened in like 2024.
It's all just so far in his past, even though it happened a couple weeks ago. It's so far in his past because now all we can do is put himself to the future. And where he's smart about it is he understands that if you play good football or even if you play bad football, nobody that is reasonable will bring up your preseason tape in any sort of way. You won't. It doesn't matter. Preseason football does not matter the moment the moment the actual real games get started, what happened in the preseason does not matter. And it listen, Dishon, there's nothing Dishon can say that's going to convince me that how Dishon felt after the second preseason game isn't how he feels now. And so there's no use. So there's nothing that can be gained from going back and mentioning it again or acting like it's even in and kind of where you're thinking about. Whether whether or not by the way that he actually believes it is going to be evident on Sunday. If he collapses like a cheap cardboard box, well, that Buffalo game still up there. It's right. It's right. I don't know. It's right up here.
He could have collapsed even without the Buffalo game though. I mean, there's not there's not like a world that exists where if he's bad, it's just solely because the Buffalo game is what got to him. No, he might have always just been bad. I think that was the straw that broke his back though. Because he got no Buffalo game to go off of for the previous three years that we watched him play bad football. Well, I think there's a difference between looking bad and looking lost. And I think that's what surprised me most about that Buffalo game is he looked lost. He looked like he'd like he was a alien trying to play football because there was no confidence. There was no field. There was no presence. That's what I'm talking like if that guy shows up, it's just the monster's stoles power. Right. That's the simplest. So it's five years ago. I won't come back and be like they just recently stole it. They stole it five years ago. I think I think that I think that Saturday and that Saturday might have been the game the damn given way. Again, he has a chance on Sunday to disprove that because if he comes out and he's able to play well enough and they either compete for a win or they get a win, that's I think that question is answered that he has moved on from that.
No, at least for the until they come home. And the job that Munkin will have done, if he can pull it off, the job that Munkin will have done from a sports psychology standpoint might have might end up being studied and colleges moving forward. How does Sean could wipe this away and then even go to the podium and just act like I have no idea what you guys are talking about. 216 474 0092. And Nick Wilson says at J Peterlin on social media social media reactions on X powered by Shibon Jouler's Cleveland's premier jewelry store. We got Ashley Bastak at 320. We'll talk about to Sean Watson comments today and whether he cleared that Buffalo game from his internal memory slate there. Ross Tucker. It's football is back the number two man on CBS price. We can still afford him. Many people have said he wouldn't have got there without us and we'll make sure to let him know that at four o'clock today. We'll talk about the changes in the AFC North where he stands with his Browns team. I'll tell you he's pretty low on him and Darryl Ryder coming up at six o'clock. We continue the March to week one Browns and Jax tonight. Seahawks Patriots on this very station.
You're also going to hear the Rams and 49ers tomorrow night on this very station, but 216 474 0092. Want to hear from you guys and what you heard from Dishon watching. And today the message was he's focused on the presence and focus that he can prove that he can still play in this league. We got plenty to get to with the guardos NFL wide. But how motivated will Dishon watch and be in about five minutes. We'll talk about that in five minutes on 92 three. The fan. Quick. It's coming up in just about 20 minutes time. Nick and JP back with you. We do have Ashley Basta coming up at three 20 today. Getting ready for week one Browns and Jax, but it is prediction season. And I'm I'm merely making a point. I'm not taking a shot at the Yahoo sports folks and they've got it looks to be 10 analysts. And all of them are predicting the Baltimore Ravens to win the AFC North.
Okay. Wow. Clean sleep. I did not see a clean sweep coming neither did I. I think there's a lot more intrigue in this and I think there's a little too much emphasis on the fact that Baltimore has. I actually know sorry. I don't think people are emphasizing enough how when head coach has changed that is a uncontrollable variable that can be positive. It can also be negative. Okay. Spoiler alert. I really thought it was going to be more people saying bangles than Ravens. I was going to take the Ravens just because I thought I got I got a belief. I don't think that Harball the drop off from Harball is going to be that apparent. And I don't know that Joe burrows ever going to really get his together in Cincinnati now at this point. Only thing about Baltimore is that roster has gotten a bit older. But I don't know where this is also coming from as nine of the 10 analysts also have the cowboys. Yeah. People love the cowboys right now. They really do. They love that. They think that offense is going to be one of the best in the NFL. If not the best in the NFL. It's always been one of the best in the NFL with that. That's never been the problem. It was very good last year too. But I think there I think the there's a couple of additions they made defensively not only on the D line,
but also Caleb Downs and Alan Press if he's been as well. We know him very well with Ohio State. I think there's been actual strides defensively that the cowboys can make way into. But yeah, a lot of people are high on America's team right now. Two of them have the cowboys and Texans in the Super Bowl. And it's split. And listen, I think the multiple cowboys Texans Super Bowl. Yeah. Yeah, Matt Harmon, who I think is a cowboys guy. And Nate Tyson. So like their football guys, like I really like I think both of them know what the hell they're talking about. I mean, you find a reason for how we'd end up there. It's not it's not the craziest thing I've ever heard of. It's a lot of belief in CJ Stroud one. And then on the cowboys side, it's just a lot of belief that defensively they're going to have this thing together in a way that they just haven't in the deck era. And then everyone else has the Rams winning the Super Bowl. It just matters who they beat in the Super Bowl. But we are talking about the Browns and to Sean Watson. And again, to Sean Watson today said no looks in the rear view mirror. I can't focus on the future. I got to focus on now, you know, about try to look ahead and I get distracted on that. I focus on what I need to do now.
Then, you know, who knows what the future might hold. So all I can do is control these moments now. These opportunities I have now. And I want to be just like, time, time, I can say like, you know, he's 60. He feels like this is a shot. So, you know, me being on my last year of my deal and, you know, being your 10. I feel like this is my opportunity to be up there, go and showcase that I can still play in his league. And I can want, I want to continue to play in his league. So this is my opportunity to do that. Is Todd Monk in the Dishon Watson of head coaches, 216474? Where does that come from? Well, no, he said, like Todd said, he's 60. He might never get another job. I was trying to both on their last leg. Yeah, I would you, by the way, actually disagree with. I think Todd will be fine even if he flames out here. The Dishon stuff is interesting. He flames out here. I probably won't get a coaching job. His head coaching job. So much of everything I've seen about this is, you know, Dishon's going to be motivated. Of all the things I've questioned in the entirety of his time here, I've never questioned that Dishon is motivated. Right? No, but yesterday your question is heart.
And I feel like this response is a good one in response to the people that believe he doesn't have, or doesn't want to necessarily play for the Cleveland Browns. I mean, if you question his heart, then I feel like, then you're like, well, where's his inspiration going to come from? Where's his give a damn every single week going to come from? If he doesn't want to win for the Cleveland Browns, that's one thing. What's encouraging about this is that you can't work in an independent system. The idea that he might not care to win for the Cleveland Browns, but he cares to win for his future football life. Yeah, and we'll see. I don't know, because I can't balance the idea of, you're right, I did say that I think that it's going to be tough for him to be like, let's go win one for the Browns, fans, guys, let's do this, right? And anyone actually believe him, but I also think it's like, if he fails, I'm not going to be like, he just didn't want it. You know what I mean? I'm going to be like, oh, no, that's a problem. Human and this was a really stupid idea in the first place. Yeah, I mean, if a sports talk host ever, the response is he didn't want it bad enough. You probably should just find new sports talk host and joy and listen to. I think lock and for us in that about five years ago. It's not a good enough reason because all these guys should want it at the end of the day.
I mean, this should be, it's funny. I was driving in my car earlier today and I was getting ready. I was like, should I give, should I give Dishon credit for trying to mount this comeback? And he could have just, he could have just laid down and said, I'll just take my money and not even bother. And there is a lot of traps out there, by the way. Well, the reason why I won't give him credit is because he had to show up in order to collect the money. Like he had to. Like this is still, this is still part of the exchange of all of this is that he had to be here or else he would get fined and then he wouldn't be able to collect the paychecks. And there's a part of me that still now wonders is like, is he just, is he just going through the motions to make sure the check still clears and everything's all fine. Even though it's guaranteed money, you still have to use a key to find if you don't show up, right? But ultimately, I mean, I don't, I don't give him the credit and I don't worry or I don't think about this being some sort of massive thing for Dishon and trying to rewrite his history, but that is what he's playing for and he is playing for a future team. 216, 474, 0092, how motivated will Dishon watch and be? He got a couple calls or he can get to here in a second and Mike said, why is it a problem to be in the Dishon?
Is the quarterback I want him to succeed? No one said that's a problem. It's not a problem at all. That doesn't mean you have to believe everything he says in a press conference. Or you also don't have to think it's going to work. You can want it to work the way that Jeff Phelps, you mentioned that clip that was online and his reaction and everything. It's like Phelps wants the Browns quarterback to do well because he wants the Browns to do well. I feel like you're in that same boat too. Yeah. You want the Browns quarterback to do well because you want the Browns to ultimately do well. But it doesn't mean that you think it's going to be reality and it doesn't mean that you think that if you had to bet on it, you would bet on that being the prefer or that being the outcome that's going to happen. Yeah, like I think coach, coach Riz texted me, I think it was last week of the week before and he was like, all right, Sophie's choice. DeShawn is going to let you get you 11 wins, 11 and six in here in the playoffs this year or you know, Shador starts a majority of the game and you're seven and 10, which would you choose? And it's like, kind of question is that? Like I can't be the guy that rails against tanking. I can't be the guy that says, I'm so sick of losing. I don't care how it happens. Just make me a bicycle clown and then be like, but not with the Sean.
I will happily eat my own words. I will, I will, I will skip to work every day if this is an 11 win team of DeShawn Watson's the reason they're 11 win team. And you know what? I'll give the browns out all their flowers. I'll go to a damn florist and get more flowers to give them. Like I just pick and picking down like burial burial sites. I do. Well, you just taken flowers. We have wild flowers out there on the property. I just, you're not going to get a risk for me. You got a spring for the nice ones. No, no, no, no, they're flowers. Just accept my flowers. Okay. What your point is right. And I think the accurate one, you are a, you're bad at this job if you're not going to tell people how you really feel. So we have to tell you how we really feel. We have to tell you what we think is going to happen while acknowledging that there's a lot of people out there that if they've to Sean wins 11 games, they don't care that it was to Sean that did it. You just want to win 11 games. That shouldn't be hard. Let's go with Dominic in Strongesville. Dominic, welcome to the show about what you got for us. 10 foil hat theory.
Okay. Anybody talked about the Sean and Sauer, you being insured. Yeah, that's a collection of, you know, considerable amount of money. Not as much as there was originally reported. I understand, but, but by the same token, if you're going to play the Sean at all this year, let's, it should or are going to take us to the Super Bowl. No, is the Sean going to take us there? No. Okay. If you got to play a guy because the pain of a crap load of money, play him at the beginning of the year. If you're going to collect any insurance money because this guy's made a glass. He's not going to last. He's proven that, you know, I don't know that anybody thinks he's going to play six games. You know, if you're going to collect some insurance money on this guy's salary, play him beginning of the year, bring Shadur in. He's the homecoming hero and he plays out the rest of the year. All right, Dominic. Thank you for that. I'm not sure. Coach Reyes would be able to handle someone suggesting that a team is playing a quarterback because of the insurance money and not to do with who's going to try to win them.
Someone tell Coach Reyes to pull off to the side of the road and then listen to that clip right there from that call. Might just explode with fury and angry and anger that doesn't really exist within. I also do think and I get it. The Browns have shown endless goal when it comes to things they're willing to do and normalize and tell you to try to win them. And tell you that you should like it. If you don't like it, they'll go ahead and look at you like you're the idiot. I get that. The idea that the Browns would risk two to five to six to 10 games this year, all to try and get some money, more money out of Dishon Watson. When a year ago, the owner said, hey, we all know this thing didn't work out the way we wanted it to. No, they have to really believe this. I also don't believe Todd Munkin would sign up for that. I can't believe Todd Munkin signed up to have Dishon as a starter, but I sure as hell know that guy didn't sign up to have Dishon as a starter for cap purposes. Yeah, it just doesn't make any sense. And that's okay.
I like the theories. Keep them common because we're trying to make as much sense out of this as anybody can. I mean, if you heard Zach earlier, we'll play some clips later on in the show, but he's like nobody outside the building understands what's going on with this. Yeah, no, he's right. We've all been very confused as to this whole entire process. Yeah, if I, you know, we were talking about the sea hawks takes that have just been in the last like 10 days, it is man. The Browns have a lot of talent. What are they doing in quarterback? Like, but and it honestly, there were a lot of holdouts on this and then Dishon went cabloey in that post game and on the field against the reason for us. And everyone's like, I'm not risking my credibility for this. I'm not going to say that this is going to work out after that. Yeah, I mean, even guys like Albert who's like, yeah, might one might last two weeks. Yeah. Okay. All right. We'll find out. All right. How are we going to get about 45 seconds, buddy? What you got for us? I was going, man. I just hope everybody enjoyed the season because we have really, you know, grown tomatoes that they shine on Watson.
You know, before the season even started and I wish we were talking about winning more than losing because all we talk about is losing. Like so, because all they do is losing Howard. Yeah, they won eight games in two years. You know, okay, okay, okay, but you know, they put some pieces around watching. We got a pretty good back. We got a region revamped offensive line. We got players on deep. I just think you guys should be a little bit more optimistic. Howard, I've said they're going to win eight games. I think it's the most optimistic person. I've been called a home earn an A hole for saying that for about three weeks now. And those are exclusive. And that's just my kids. Don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. You know, cool for what's going on. You know, it's more than he ain't played up to expectation. But at the same time, it's like, okay, they, you know, they did some work. You know, they, you know, put some things around and we should be competitive. And if we get lucky, maybe we will.
I hope we both get lucky Howard. Be good, buddy. Okay, it's worthful thinking, but think positive. That's all. All right, Howard, be good. Just hoping Howard gets lucky too. You might have watched a little too much Ted Lasso there, that Howard. That is true. Well, too much belief. Yeah, we put a little believe up in the studio and then somebody went full Nathan. Not to say, uh, the character in Nathan Shelley. Look it up. I thought we were role playing. You into that, aren't you? Well, you know, if the mood strikes me, come on. What's fun is fun. Am I right guys? Let's get the jersey out. When we come back, Tom Bellicero. What about that? As a strong mild scare report in five minutes on 92 through the fan. Ashley Bass. Coming up in about 40 minutes time. Ross Tucker at four o'clock today as well as football is back and we are celebrating it. All show long, all week long.
And yes, despite reservations, I have about to show on Watson. I'm still very bullish on the Cleveland Browns. We got, we do have to talk about the pretty significant development in the AFC North that will certainly impact the Browns this year and for years to come coming up in about 20 minutes. But let's go ahead and get to a quick. It's from the latest news and rumors around the sports world. To the sound bites you need to hear. It's quick. It's Tom Bellicero reported on his sub stack. The sweep with Tom Bellicero. The bills actually called the Browns about mild scare at the day. The trade leaked that sent him to Los Angeles. But they lacked a Jared verse level player which stalled the deal immediately. So I want to, I want to get your honest opinion here. Jared verse a first, second and third or three bills first rounders, which would you rather have had? Uh, probably three first rounders. Even I know it's understanding that Jared versus probably worth the first rounder himself. So that would have been two firsts a second and a third.
I would have prioritized the three first rounders. So it's tough because like the whole point of thinking. If you think versus worth more than a first, that's a different conversation. It's tough because I look at the first rounders differently. I think the bills are going to be a playoff team Super Bowl contender for the next three years. I don't think that about the Rams. One of the reasons why I said the Rams as a spot that made sense for them beyond less need is one of the bleep them pick originators. Was that I looked at this and was like, all right, the first two years, those are going to be like the picks in the 20s, maybe the 30s. But that third year, you might end up getting a top 10 pick out of it. Could even happen as soon as two years in. I don't know anything that can happen that the bills picks wouldn't have all been picks 25 on. Which I just seeing like a, uh, seeing a Josh Allen injury or something like that. I don't, I'm not the same way as you are with the Rams. I feel like Sean McVey. It just always finds a way and I feel like they're not only do they have what they think is going to be the quarterback after Stafford.
I guys, I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Stafford if healthy will play until he's 40 years old. Now the if healthy is a pretty big thing there. I still, I got to give the Browns credit is I saw the beauty of the Jared verse plan. I really did. And I'm really excited watching. He's one of the guys I'm most excited to see on Sunday. It's not about sacks. It's just about watching that guy play hard and bring some honor to Browns football, which would be real nice. Oh my, All right. Uh, let's go to this news out of college football. LSU is adding two players to the school's roster, which will complete it at 105 players, which means Dekwan Wright is not going to be a part of LSU. And now Shepters tweeted out in the following like this week. One wrong. Well, I don't know what he does now. They're trying to figure out all sorts of legal options. They don't know if they're going to end up just suing everybody and trying to make a real case that way. They're not sure if he could just reenter and play in the NFL this year. How that would work as well. It does seem like Dekwan Wright found himself in a little bit of a rock in a hard play situation. Yeah, I actually do feel bad for it.
It's so funny. People, you know, villainized LSU or they, they, you know, glorify the NCAA or Clemson for fighting this or the conference is whatever. And it's like, we do realize that the young men involved, they're just trying to do what's best for themselves. Uh, financially and career wise. And they're the ones being screwed in all of this. Right. And it made so much more financial sense for him to go play LSU and be a tight end and go do that. Then it was to start his NFL career, which is if we're just being truthful about it, undrafted, like, it's going to go nowhere. Yeah. We're not, it's going to go nowhere. Now the Browns do still have a neat tight end. And I, I don't know that they would welcome him back because maybe the way this happened kind of turned them off. Well, they might take a lot and I don't know that I thought they were kind to this to him. And so I don't know that there's any bad blood there. Well, and there's no way they didn't, they didn't claim them on waivers without understanding what he was trying to do. Right. And the hope was that, well, maybe it just kind of felt, but I could see him landing on the Browns practice squad. For sure. Fairly certain if, if it happens, you know, in short order here.
I'd still sue everybody if I were him though. That's the route. I'm not going to be hung up in court. And then you're not going to have a ruling and then he's likely going to sit out this season with no place to play. And that ultimately is going to kill his career, which is unfortunate. Congrats to Nordonia's own Browns corner back, Denzel Ward. As it was announced today, he has become a part owner of the Cleveland Guardians, the Guardians. Here is Ward talking about what this means for him and the Guardians. Yeah, wherever they need me, wherever they need me, we got had, we got had those talks. And you know, I'm looking forward to I'm going to go down to the stadium soon. And I think it's going to be like a Denzel Ward day or something like that. We go, we go, we go, go out and have a good time. Have fun at the game. But yeah, whatever they need. What I love about this is that nobody really knows what the minority ownership really means for anyone. But it is a feel good moment for one of Cleveland's own. And the same way that when Travis Kelsey bought the team, bought a part of the team here. How should the Guardians use Denzel though? How can they maximize their part of this? I think they were already getting as much as they possibly could, right? Where he shows up to certain games in the sweet. He does the first pitch.
And that's really that's all you really need. I I'm kind of over the let's give out a tiny, tiny percentage to someone that is famous in the city. And let's call that a, it's fun. But I it's just it's not everyone involved knows it's not what it really is. Okay, that being said, if the I don't have $10 million or $5 million, if the Guardians did want to break me off, you know, again, I can be one of these celebrity minorities. I'll show up to games. I'll sit in the sweet. Right now you're still paying for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, that or I have to beg them for free tickets, which I just don't do out of principle. But I'd appreciate it if they gave me some. But no, I think I am willing to be that guy for them since they don't have anyone on the station. And as of right now, that's volunteered their services. Volunteer to be a part owner. Yeah, if you want to give me something worth, let's say whatever $500,000 gets you. And you give that to me for free. And then you instantly turn around and sell it or what? Oh, no, no, no, no, I wait. And then I wait for it to mature. And then I sell it. Okay.
Yeah, many years in the future, you'd need the valuation of it to, what are you going to wait for it to double? Is that the idea? Yeah, that's about a decade. And in the meantime, a lot of baseball, hobnobbin with a voter and, and, and, and hegey and, oh, I would, it'd be best buddies with Austin Hedges. I don't even think you'd buy respect to the locker room, owned in $500,000 of the Guardians. Oh, I'd walk around there. They break you off that zero, zero point one percent share. I think they'd look at you like, what are you doing? I would get a fake, fake mint coat. I would walk around like the Mountain Dew guy. Yeah, I know that guy's bit is, but I'll, I just, I just, I just, I just, I just, I'd be, I wouldn't do guy and, nobody knows his name. I would go ahead and really grow this out. I would look like a mountaineer with a mint coat. And I'd just be like, top of the moan and Mr. Kwan. I mean, I feel like when, when, uh, Jay Z was a part owner, but it was like the same equivalence when Usher had that tiny, tiny percentage of the calves. I mean, like people like genuinely are like, whoa, owner of a sports team. This is sweet. But now we just been, it's been watered down. Everyone now, everyone now gets like a percentage of a team and it means absolutely nothing.
Athletic wise, not a lot of guys in radio. If you really want to reset the market, you want to, what's the big word that everybody uses? We're disruptors. You want to disrupt the market? Give it to a fat radio guy that's really got no future beyond this thing. Now, do you think they're giving it? The King and Streets won't know what to do with it. You're saying giving? Do you think they're giving it? Or do you feel like he actually has to purchase the zero's point zero one percent? He has to purchase it because he's got the money. I don't, I don't, I don't, people are just giving away. This is a charity, giving away here. $500,000. Yeah. And by the way, you see in this team, they don't even pay for, you know, quality at bats. I promise. Give away 500, 500K. I promise. I won't sell it until I either get run out of radio, which could be any day now, or I'm ready to retire. Pretty honorable of me, right? I'm not just in it for the money. I'm in it for the insurance. Okay. Oh my, oh. Radio's a risky business, is all I'm saying. Yeah, I mean, I'm, you're not even going to purchase like a big suite for yourself after they give you this, this whole ordeal. I believe we covered this in the, I can't afford it.
I'm saying. I'm saying. It feels very one sided, is all I'm saying. It just feels very, yeah, I don't have enough one sided situation going on here. There's a lot of me over delivering for every, every day. I'm delivering for everyone. And I appreciate it. And I love it. You can't even promise him. You can't even promise him. You'd be like the ultimate guardians home or if you turn into that 0.05% share. No, I can't even promise that. I can't. You can't do it for the browns. I know I wouldn't. That's a Matt Festa. That's my guy right there. Find his Festa. That's what I'm going to call it. Hmm. Your takes can be bought. I thought I knew you. Oh, just for the guardians. Not for the browns. Not for the cat. That's two high stakes and not for the cats. Okay. All right. Yeah. At least we know. Now, unless James Harden wants to get you some of that wine money. I was thinking what like some of that speedway money money. I'm only 10% of what he throws at a stripper on a monthly basis. I would be set for life. Yeah. Yeah. Unfortunately. Yeah. But James, you don't do the same things. You don't do the same things. I could. At this point, I got kids getting ready to go college.
If I got to hop on the bowl, I'll hop on the bowl. But it sounds very similar. Yeah. But you're describing and what you describe with the guardians anyway. That's fine. I thought like that. You know, it sounds very similar. It's 2026. You're going to do the job. You're going to do the job. Might as well just do it for James Harden. 2026. On the list of people selling themselves for ill-gotten things, I would still be one of the most moral people out there. I believe that. Yeah. I believe that. All right. How old is the show goes? Have you if you land that? Oh, yeah. How old is the show goes? All right. DK Metcalf, Aaron Rogers. According to this report from Jonathan Jones of the athletic, if started bonding over their mutual embrace of conspiracy theories. So Rogers, obviously, we know his conspiracy theories and DK Metcalf, apparently he's been long into conspiracy theories. He's got one about Antarctica that he just thinks is a lot solid. He believes that the world's leaders gather from time to time in Antarctica and he also thinks there's a whole nother mini civilization that exists inside Earth already. And that's kind of where they live.
Okay. Fine. Great. But anyway, apparently him and Aaron Rogers bonding big time over their love of the conspiracy. I never thought I'd say this. Don't do your own research, folks. Now, just go right to the textbooks, whatever the historical textbooks say. Just believe that instead. Here's the thing. The fighting is because I find conspiracy theories pretty interesting. I tend to have a lot of them in my algorithm, but I don't believe them all. And it's funny, like there's so much on Twitter that if you just expose yourself to people are so susceptible, our brains are so melded and just completely whittled down in terms of reasoning and intellectual ability that just you see anything on social media and people go, well, I want that to be true so that must be true. And it is, I got to say, I want to thank you to DK Metcalf. I want to thank you to Aaron Rogers. I want to thank a lot of the former athletes, Leshan McCoy. I want to thank you dummies because for a long time, people have held up former athletes
in a light and being like, they played the game. They know ball. They're really smart. And and and God bless them. These former athletes are proving that athletes are just as dumb, sometimes dumber than just common people. And I love every part. We're getting back to the old trope that used to exist. Oh, dumb jock. That jock, he doesn't know anything. It's a really going back. I do always, I find it funny. Like we know here around the station, the people that just love telling us conspiracy theories, even when we didn't ask them. Name them. And then we know that this is one. Kate was another like they like we know the people that love the conspiracy theories. The meridus gets like mad about it. It's really weird. I've not weird. It's just I'm not that emotional investor. She likes them. So it's fun. Anyway, like the idea of this is that it's Aaron Rogers and DK Metcalf are like the two people and the around the Steelers that apparently they just like they found each other. They needed the other person that is like, you know what? I will listen to that conspiracy theory. Oh yeah, let's do a Ted talk on this and then go down the Joe Rogan podcast route and just figure it all out. I think this is almost endearing in a way than a very problematic way.
I think this is almost endearing. And like if we take a side, the fact that the fair amount of society in general is susceptible to this and social media and AI will be the undoing of us as soon as it in the next three or four years, if we set that to the side, conspiracy theories are fun. I'm expecting DK make the Metcalf to get a lot of passes this year. Yeah. Yeah, I think Rogers is really going to take kindly to the idea that he's not the only whack of doing it on the team. That's what's for an article DK. He's just not the only one that's got a lot of loose marbles up there. This one's for the Hill people. Hey, listen, if the whole goal is like sometimes you got to be out of butter up your quarterback to make sure you get the passes DK Metcalf is passing that in spades. Yeah, hey, he has warped his own brain to go ahead and maybe have another career career there. Well, Jerry Judy's kind of done it with Deshaun Watson. That's not, it's not too far off. Man, you really open the door there and I'm not stepping through it. Thank you very much. I just said steadfast belief that Deshaun Watson's awesome at football. It's like, you see how these wide receivers work? All I was thinking he went to other ways to go ahead and ingratiate himself to the quarterback. I mean, like, Terry's a killing. He has different body. Look, Mike Kelly doesn't work either.
I also get treated. We're killing buddies. They're workboos. A huge development in the AFC North will impact the Browns and the division for years to come. Find out what it is in five minutes on 92 three, the fan.
