It's Thursday on afternoon drive. I mean, yeah, I'm not worried about that. You know, we focus on now. It's about what we got, what we can do now. Not about what we were about in the future. In our past, you know, we're not worried about 24. We're not worried about last year. We're not playing. We're not worried about the preseason. Right now, we gotta focus on just one of those. Is it Sean acting or is it Sean? And the Browns done such a good job of making sure that he's windshield focused. He's only looking at what's in front of him, that he's erased. He's erased the comments that he made, and then he's erased actual game. Where he looked about his baddest of ever seen to Sean Watson play, and I've seen him play a lot of really bad football. There's no football you can play until Sunday that can change the narrative or change how you feel or how you felt. And so until then, yes, you should just go ahead and gaslight yourself. I have no problem with the Sean coming out and being like, oh, what buffalo game? I am vehemently opposed at dogs having human first names. Okay, I gotta imagine the people who just totally named their dogs, human names. He couldn't think of anything else. The least fun planet. Like you could take him to any of those different places that they have,
and they would be like, you guys got a dog museum around here? Does anybody got any cool pennies? That's what they sound like. It's the afternoon drive with Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterland on Cleveland's Sports Radio, 92-3-The-Fan. The show is back, Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterland, we are with you for the next five hours and football is king and we go from the first step of football being back, which is saying, thank God, football is back to the second stage, which is complaining the football wasn't good enough. But that open courtesy of Michael Marcache and the board. Yes. I'm Michael Goodesia, the Ginger St of Cleveland Sports, holding things down on the board today. He'll be in with us late in the show for a new little locket in bit we're doing. Probably only do it once, it might not work. It could be a real bleep show, but we'll find out about six o'clock tonight. Jake Murn, man in the 92-3-The-Fan YouTube channel and producing.
I see you, Donald. I see you, Chaser. Jim Eagle, Mickey Fitz, Kid Cowboy. I'm seeing the names there. Jim Eagle. Jim Eagle. Yeah, yeah, Ion's brother. Yeah, he's an accountant. Is that right? Noah's uncle's, I always call him. Yeah, also has a rug. Yeah, well, that was unnecessary. That's true. Noah's hair, get it together. That is as fake as anything I've ever seen. I'm sorry, you can't say that and then say Nick Wright's hair is real, which you've said multiple times. Right hair is real. It's not real. I mean, it's not real. It's real. It's real. By the way, it's just a good rug. It's just a good rug. I'm pretty sure Noah Eagles hair has an elevator on it. And it takes like three fours. That's how high it's. The grand bensinger. He's basically Marge Simpson at this point. And he'd be like, oh, no, this is normal. Yeah, of course it's normal. You're a grand bensinger. Your hair goes seven feet high. That's natural. But you go ahead and follow 92 through the fans YouTube channel. Follow us all five hours long. Ring that bell, except you corn, Leo. Stuck it corn, Leo. And like our videos, we desperately like to be liked around these parts and merit a cane
on the 2020s there. You're welcome for bailing you out with the old MacDonald reference there from the old MacDonald had a farm EI EI O and on this farm, he had a hip. Yeah. And he got some X-rays and an off site. Why are people so upset that they went off site for these X-rays? I don't know why people were so living about it. I just, I think the whole thing, I think the whole thing where we went from, thank God footballs back to God this game is boring. Well, it's to the cheese we have to watch Drew Boc play football. Okay, in fairness, and then Drew Boc play pretty good. But everyone said, take the under, everyone said, this is going to be a low scoring affair. And by the way, it's a repeat of the worst super bowl we've had on the last five years. Just a board, I mean, again, congrats to Seattle. They won the darn thing. I'd love to win a boring Super Bowl. Hell, I'd take a boring playoff game at this point. I'll take any win that I can get in the postseason. But like the idea we couldn't even wait one day to be like, oh, this sucks. Turn it off.
Well, the game did get good. It just took until like four quarters. Yeah, just took a while. A while. And yeah, when you look up and you're like, I waited months on end for Drew Locke, that's this heartening. There's no other way to describe that. He's the disheartening practice. I'm buying into the Drew Locke rehab tour. When he's the browns, then he actually played pretty decent. When he's the browns veteran next year, as we get ready to start, well, you know, I get half a season of whatever quarterback you'd drive to the first round. Get ready for Locke City, baby. We'll chase Daniels. You Missouri. I'm Missouri crime and break down his game. Our boss. No, no, no, no, the Missouri quarterback. Oh, oh, Diana. Diana. Oh, I haven't seen you in a while, Diana. Diana, are you selling your tell-all? Diana, where are you back? Ben, where are you from? I'm selling. Also, this is going to be the most random first part of the opening show ever. People who were aghast at the idea that Diana Rossini has rebuffed every offer from TV cruise to tell her story and that she's using her story, her side of the variable affair
or alleged affair to help sweeten the pot for her next job. Apparently, don't realize Diana Rossini might be the smartest person on the planet. That's a brilliant move by Diana Rossini. She knows how the game works. Is she going to go on a good morning America and give it to them for free? And how the hell? No, thank you. How the hell does she continue to get more scorn from people trying to recover a career? When Mike Vrable lets Chex notes, lost nothing and tried to hold a puppy hostage to get people to like him at the beginning of training. What's tough is that now when Aaron Rogers is one of your biggest defenders in life, you might have to reevaluate who the people are that are defending you. Diana. Diana, I also slept with Mike Vrable. Diana. That's a different story. Yeah. That's a breakdown I don't need. That's a show on like Fubo. Come on now. Now they're trying to break into that sports content. Look coach on quarterback. I'm just saying. I'll write that. I'll write that erotic novel if you want me to. I don't want you to. I'm just saying to you. Nobody's asking for it. Nobody's asking for it. No, nobody's asking for that. And there was like a million to two million dollars to sell that.
Nobody's asking for that. Nobody's asking for that. No. I'll pitch it. No. I'll pitch it like a sun shine and remember the Titans. I'll hit that pitch every time. I did laugh a lot when Mike Tom, when just kept calling JSN, JNS. Yeah. It was, is he going to do this all night? Does he, is this an inside game for himself? I went, how long are you to do this bit for? The best part of Mike Tomlin's debut, regular season debut was him like, yeah, last time I saw it to a tongue of I low, he was getting benched. Oh, he was nothing to the Steelers. I was like, he just, he just wanted to rain down on the idea that there's no chance to was going to be able to beep at Spurg, but it's nothing Mike McCarthy did. It's just that he stinks. I think I'm officially flip flopping Mike Tomlin is awesome at this and I want him on everything. There's another thing weird divide on was Tomlin good last night was Tomlin bad last night. People couldn't make up their minds there either. That's good. That's where we like him. Your boy C.D. Carrington was all about the idea that Tomlin just flat out sucked. I mean, outside of getting the names wrong, I thought at least he was a friend of breath of fresh air and he's, he's unafraid to say things. Mike Tomlin does not care.
We watch Jason Garrett be in that spot for years on end. You're telling me that wasn't more interesting than Jason Garrett. Also, we saw both of them dance on TikTok and spoiler alert here. Jason Garrett got, he got no flavor. He's got not Maria Taylor had some sway there. Mike Tomlin had some sway. Whatever other quarterback was on that panel had some sway. Jason Garrett, no flavor. I interviewed with for you because for you. I was his co-worker now and he was asking him like, did you, did you feel like Tomlin's like, did you actually have fun with that stuff? Is he or is he just kind of like, hey, Mike, we'd love to have you come over here and do this TikTok. If you got a couple of seconds, apparently he was loving it. Yeah. He was really good at dancing. He was really good at dancing. He could actually had a fun time with all this, which is a little scary by the way. If you're thinking about the prospect of Mike Tomlin becoming an NFL head coach again, because this might be the bill coward thing. Once you get behind that desk, you can, you can talk about wanting to go ahead and be a coach all day. Once you get behind that desk, it becomes real comfortable. Making the same money to hang out on TV for 25 years instead.
You get the same money to hang out and talk football once or twice a week and then just go home and like enjoy your family. As like the grind that is NFL head coaching, I get it. Well, I get his family, how the season ended last year with his family. I don't know that anyone's doing a lot of his joint with his family. But he's definitely enjoying something. You brought up a quarterback head coach sex scene that you want to write, but like I'm the problem in this scenario. I'm trying to get you and me to TV startup. That's what I'm now. You and I are the show runners. We're like to ban you off and the other guy read about the Tomlin family drama. I'm sure that I know that a place is that would go ahead. Mike Tomlin scares me. I got beat my ass seven away from Sunday. But obviously we got to get going about the Browns Jack wires and continue to hear how mad Browns fans are about this game. The lack of buzz in the in like the conversations I'm having about this. Again, I'm being accused of being the old time homer for saying the Browns could win. I'm not saying I wouldn't play it myself if they put in your shoes.
Okay. But I am saying I as an observer of how you've been moving for the past couple months. I don't like this take in particular. I do have a back injury right now. So that's infecting how I'm moving only because you can't be the guy that says I'm going to call you when the Browns achieve X Y and Z and also be the guy like it's only eight nine. Well, no, no, it's not a big. It's not a big record. I'm not saying 13 and four. I'm not saying 14 and three. I'm just saying eight nine. You can't live in both worlds in my mind where you get to call you have a list of people you want to call up and what order you want to call them up like steam. Like steam. Yeah. The Browns actually achieve what you say they're going to achieve. I just don't think you can have it both ways. I think I can. I think I can. And I think I will. Yeah. I'll play because again, I'm the boldest man in Cleveland sports media.
Say I win. I don't think it's that bold. All things considered when more people than not are are pie. We're not actually came on and said eight wins as well. She said eight wins was possible. She didn't say it was likely nine. She said eight nine was her prediction. I don't remember that. Daniel Oio Fussee the ESPN Browns reporter said seven wins at the end yesterday. Like it's like it's becoming a very modest take. I'm back. started it. This guy. on the big blog, right? Where they where they go through like, you know, deep sleepers and MVP candidates and Jeremy Fowler's out here saying, hey, I'm not saying they're a playoff team, but look out. The Browns could surprise some people. Why? Because Nick Wilson has inspired people to look past this quarterback room and put them on the table. Actually, put them on the table. It's not where I put it on the table. They're saying, you're putting them on the table and then in the same look at the people
who fall into the high people. They're seeing the live the morning show. They're like, oh, guys, I mean, it's eight nine. Not those five worst jellyfish. It's eight nine, not 14. They've really did. They, they, they've hear how that sounds. But did like a terrible in Buffalo was the morning show today when I called them up at 645 right through it. I mean, just right through it. I thought I was getting a little pushback now. They waited. They waited no one a half to give the pushback. Yeah. They had a really digest and sit on those terms. Wait until I went back to sleep and go ahead and have something to say there. I mean, you see what I'm getting at here, right? You can't be the like, I'm out of this big bowl prediction guy and then turn around and be like, oh, eight nine is not 13 and four. Why are people losing their mind? No, the point is the buy wise people going crazy with this people are acting like I'm saying Super Bowl Super Brown's 15 wins. Well, you're, you're keeping a list together of people you want to call up and say, how right you were at the end of this? Like you're like, you're giving, you're giving the impression of 13 and four and 14 and three. Well, saying the same thing at the end of this. And it all comes back to one quarter back to Sean Watson more than anyone else. And it all comes back to a bunch of generic stuff that has, I don't want to say has nothing to do
with this team. But it's, it's like, I understand that they're like last year when I win it a last year thinking that's a five win team, right? This team could compete for the number one pick. The reason why I thought that is, all right, the defense is going to be great, but there's nothing on offense to really give you hope. Like if the offensive line was good, er, sorry, if what was the right tackle, Jack Conklin, if Jack Conklin can stay healthy, which we said for five years, the Browns actually have a plan this year on offense. It's not just, well, we'll bring back the old offensive line and we'll see if Jerry Judy can replicate what he did. Well, hey, maybe David and Jo Koo doesn't look like a left tackle these days. By the way, tight and three in Los Angeles. But no, like they actually have formulated an offensive plan and a defensive plan. They've drafted very well on that side of the ball as well. The only thing they didn't account for is quarterback. And that's where it's bold. That's where it's with with a quarterback that I think nothing of on the field and off the field. I would quarterback, I think nothing of I'm saying eight wins. I'm saying in the
NFL, you can win in spite of your quarterback and go be a competitive team. I'm just saying if you're going to take it, and then you say you're going to take it, you're going to take it. I'm taking and then you're going to try to act like you're in town. I'm not putting him on the table. You're going to act like it's bold. You're putting him on the table and all these people you want to call up after it happens. Then don't go to the morning show and say, I'm not saying 13 and four. You guys are the ones that are being crazy about it. I'm not saying 13 and four. I'm just saying a modest date and nine. I am on a mission to civilize. I just think that's I've got people that are on my side. As you see, we're coming from here. That makes sense when I'm saying. I don't know if I'm from FUCI salute you. Jeremy Fowley or Jim. Don't be scared of that. I get in that mic unless you want to go to downtown town like it's Ravel and chased Daniel. Don't be scared. Don't be a scary cat. Now, can I bother that? Does that make sense? How do you have you know, chest puffed out? I would be like, eight and nine is this grand thing. You've got to turn around when we get to week 17 in the Browns finish eight nine. I agree with JP. Nick can't just be like, Oh, it's just an eight nine season. Watch
me. I agree. Watch me. Yeah. Nick can't do the worst thing any of you can say is Nick can't do because Nick will do just a spite. Two and six four seven four double nine two. At Nick Wilson says at J Peter Lennon on social media social media reactions on X powered by Shibon jewelers Cleveland's premier jewelry store. Am I putting them on the table for eight and nine? I'm just going to say there's a wave of people starting to catch that fever. They got a fever and the only cure is an eight win. Brum season. I'm pretty sure that's how that went. That's the bad. Pretty sure that's the light paraphrasing. Quick hits coming up at 240 Lindsey wrote summer sports at 320. She's varying into the data and the analytics and the numbers and the what nots. We'll see if she agrees with the old eight and nine prediction there and p few tech college football news coming up at four 20. We'll get his thoughts on Ohio State Texas a loaded weekend in college football and then we got lock it in. Mark Hodges going to help us out here. We're going to see if JP and I can actually agree
on any of the games. It's a better version of the schedule game. Many people are saying the other ones played out. This one is very creative. Two one six four seven four double nine two. But am I putting them on the table at eight nine and who's coming with me? Come on. Let's get on the brand wagon. Not you JP. You sit your ass over there and crusty dusty musty six win town. You ask you ask crusty dusty. What was that? Musty. Musty. Yeah. Is that the time? Yeah. That's where you're at. Six win town. Yeah. Yeah. It's a five winville. Hey, at least if they've six wins happen four wins. Berg. I'll be able to sit back at the end of the end of the end. Be like, yeah, I did not did not tell anybody that it was going to be an awesome season. I'll also then saying just six wins. And when when I do have my moment in the sun, I you were going to be absolved because you're you're closer to me than you want to believe. But now you're also you've made the list. You've made the list and I'll be talking to you about about December 15th. We're going to have a little conversation here on air. Yeah. Yeah.
Mark got saved. 11 win. 11 win teams. In 11 win predictions. Those you get to make West eight nine. Hey, maybe not. When everyone's saying they're five and a half, nobody's talking about the Brown Stax game, but more on this. And Liam Cohen says his teams at a significant disadvantage. You're going to hear this in five minutes on 92 through the fan. Quick hits coming up in about 20 minutes time. Nick and J P back with you. We do have Lindsey Roach coming up at three 20 of sumer sports. Now a quick couple notes here. One, I checked in very quickly on the 92 through the fan at YouTube chat. They're discussing how Dushon Watson can beat the speeding ticket. Suggest that the calibration on the the the radar was off. Yeah. Another one. I can't remember the other one. But arguing about pursuit angles, which I think the bigger pursuit angles are going to be a problem for Doshon or probably on Sunday
against Jacksonville. Guys, it's like a couple hundred dollar ticket. Doshon could afford it. Yeah, we haven't want to admit the guilt. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, at all on this, though. I mean, is he could be a good bet on Doshon. Stay with me for a second. Is Doshon betting on the idea that the judge will be more lenient after watching him play football now most would say most. No, most would say that's a bad bet because the judge will be pissed that Doshon Watson continues to suck. But Doshon's got so much other belief in his skills and abilities. True. He's betting by the time he sees that judge. Judges go, oh, Doshon, yeah, you have the browns. It's six and oh, of course I can let this two hundred dollar ticket go. So I think the bench trials expected to be on on September 23rd. Oh, we're coming up. That's two games. We're coming up then. Oh, that's enough time for him. You'd be rating of like 81 just surprises the hell out of everyone. And you can't keep you rating of like 81 is none great. Um, I think I think that I like this. I like to spin out of you. It's belief in himself also Emily suggesting as your
a soul and guy north soul and guy come on now. And I'm a wadsworth guy. I need to mention wadsworth and soul and play tonight down the night. The night's the night. Yeah, because obviously what tomorrow is not a home game for soul and it is not. And I, and I, and I, what soul and has a gigantic band like maybe the biggest marching band I've ever seen from north east Ohio. It's at least 300 people deep. They are awesome. They have a lot of fun. I, clearly I have a bias towards the wadsworth marching band because of my kiddo. Um, if this is like the football game last year, well, the football game should be over relatively quickly. We should have that rolling clock hitting it about six minutes to go in the second quarter. Like I think it was last year. Yeah. But I think the marching bands are going to make this a fun one. That's my official stance on this one. Is that right? And I'd like to everybody planned a night. And again, stay safe. I know about wadsworth footballs. They seem to always win. I know. And when I know that soul and football right now is not great. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, and I went to Woodridge where academic school. So in high school, you know what? They're in it for the, the education side of things. Football's really a frivolous outcome. You know what I mean? Immaterial. I mean, many people call
it the ivy of the public high school. Many people have said it. Where's your focus? That's all I want to know. Yeah. You know, it worked for Jeff Passon, worked for Zach Meisel. We just, we, push out elites. Honestly, they could be much better at football. They don't want to. That is part of it. You know, it's, it's, again, it's this is the, this is the, the ivy aspect of this all. It's like, if we put too much attention towards football, we're really doing. Yeah. Where what's going to happen? The academics dumb jocks. Come on. Hey, we're going to lose in art. Can't you know what? As a person that's sending, going to send both of his kids to soul in high school. I like that they put more money towards the education than some of the football team. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good development. I actually, I appreciate that. That's a girl dad right there. I mean, you know, I spend that money. All right. Education in Akron. What you got for us? Hello. Hello. Hello. Why are you surprised? Very surprised. I didn't know. It's a long day. No, just to sum up, instead of admitting guilt, maybe it's the core of a lot of subtle financial aid out of court. It's used to that. That's what he's good at. So that's all guys have a good one. All right. Thank you. Yeah.
I don't get the joke. Can you explain to me, JP? We made the joke yesterday. What part of you didn't know when we made the joke yesterday? Yesterday. What about today? He didn't ask for clarification yesterday. I do like that. Did you get, did you get dumber in 24 hours? What happened? Yeah. That actually understood the joke. And now did you get, did you hit your head yesterday? Good. Good. Because if we have like a 51states thing, right? I've to explain. I'd explain to Sean Watson every day to you. Listen, they just a recurring bit right? I'd explain everything in the to Sean Watson trial. And that's, that's my lifetime penance. Then I'll, I'll sign up for that. They do call me 10 second Tom, but not for that. Okay. Now Liam Cohen, the Jacksonville head coach, he talked about an area that he think maybe the browns have an advantage. You know, you're trying to do what you do best, right? Just because like I have no idea what Rudy's going to play defensively. Like I really don't have a clue. So, you know, you have an idea of some of the things that maybe they've, they've done before in the past. You go back and look, but you know, they, they have a little bit of, I don't want to say an upper hand, but they have our tape from last season. I don't have his tape from last season of his defense, right? I've got an idea.
We've got some thoughts. We've got some cut ups and all that. But so in game one specifically, I think you would just have to really be ready to adjust. You're always a little bit, I don't want to say it at disadvantage because we're all very even in terms of going into week one. Like we don't, we could have wrinkles. Obviously, that they're not aware of that we didn't put on tape last year, but we're kind of going in a little bit more blind than maybe they are. Do you notice that he speaks in quotation marks? I know. I did not think that. Rudy's defense. I thought he might be a little drunk at one point, but I didn't think quotation marks. I think that might be a qualification, a good head coach in the NFL. You're just sounding a little bit drunk. Yeah. Like that all time by the slight buzz, like four or five beers. If you've coached with Shanahan and McVeigh, I just assumed you're naturally drunk. Because all those guys do sound a little bit tipsy. Yeah. Well, and some of them lived very, very tipsy for a long time. Now, he didn't want to say that the Jags should disadvantage. I do think for this game, I think part of the advantage from the Browns is there's so much new. I don't know that last four quarters, but I do think that's kind of being undersold here
that it's a new defensive coordinator. The Browns have Jared verse instead of Miles Garrett, a brand new offensive line. You don't really know what Todd Munkins going to try and do week one. Like I think the fact that he's bringing it up means that it obviously has gotten to him and it obviously matters. And from a game planning aspect, it just makes a hundred percent sense, Nick, that Liam Cohn would look at this and be like, wait, I don't know what to do. Is Munkin going to be the OC he was with Baltimore? Because I can argue that you take three years of his tape on that. And you might as well throw it out the window because there's no quarterback close to Lamar Jackson. And there's especially no quarterback close to Lamar Jackson on this Browns team. And then Routenberg is just this complete mystery box of a defensive coordinator. Like I, you might just throw your hands up in the air. Yeah. I think the Munkin mystery box is what we're going to call it. I'm really excited about because I think he understands that that's an advantage that he has in this game. And I think although the pieces are young, I think he's going to try and do some things like I expect Todd Munkin to be incredibly aggressive on Sunday. Because again, like the guy's entire mentality is I'm 60 and I don't know if I'm going to be able to
get another coaching job after this. I got to make, hey, while I possibly can now Routenberg, that's the unknown that does scare me because as much as I think a lot of the talk about the Browns defensive regression has become you've talked or something like you, but people have talked themselves into it. Yeah. It's less about can the players play and it's more as Mike Routenberg going to get out of the way and let him play. Yeah. I mean, and everyone we've talked to about Routenberg really does respect him. It really does think highly of him, but he's just an unknown quantity. And so like, I, what should I make? We though, if you're William Cohen, how do you, how do you attempt to even game plan for the Browns knowing what we know, which is so much that we don't know is the reality there? I mean, let's, I'm expecting the Browns going to play a lot of man coverage. You can't, you can't look at the Sean Watson tape really because he hasn't played a game in 700 days and also it's not the Browns tape doesn't matter. Yeah. So you got 19 games in the last year. Why should you? He's not going back into doing that. It's a 100% brand new offensive line. So good luck trying to scheme up anything from that direction. Juckins, maybe you can get something
there with the run game, but again, I would think camp the line run game kind of goes hand in hand is what that is. Like I, two new ride receivers and I haven't even got to the defensive side of the ball. Like I, I don't know what you do with this if you're William Cohen. I think the few educated guesses you can make are the Browns are going to be a heavy run team. And that is a lot of quenchon, but some Dylan Samson, maybe a little rocket Sanders. If you want to get crazy about it too. Well, so this is the other side of that. Do you just just don't get too cute with it and make it obvious. If you are game planning against the Sean Watson in general, what's the plan? I'm going to make, I'm going to make the Sean Watson beat me. Yeah. I'm going to do everything I can to make the Sean Watson beat me and if the Sean Watson throws the ball 35 yards in the air and connects on a million deep passes, I'm going to keep letting them do it until he shows me that he a 100% can do that. And it's not a problem. The only flaw in that logic is Casey Concepcion can beat you. You know what I mean? Like a Jerry Judy, although we haven't seen it much in the last year, Jerry Judy can beat you. Harold Fanon is an explosive play kind of guy. Samson, Isaiah Bond. Like I do think that's like it's not a wrinkle, but one of the features of this Browns roster is
there's a lot of speed and a lot of ability to do things with speed that if your plan is, well, let it makes sense. By the way, hey, let Dishon beat us while letting Dishon beat you might be Casey Concepcion going to the house because you're just sitting back and thinking we'll just stop Quinch on Juppkins and win the damn game. Yeah, I mean, I'm just taking what the obvious approach should be. That doesn't mean that Liam Cohen's going to do that. It doesn't mean that Jacksonville will do that. It's just trying to figure out like what do you really do when you're when you're game planning a game that is as blind as this one? If anyone wanted to believe in this Browns team in week one and you're a believer in this Browns team in week one, I think the unknown part of this has to be at the top of the list. Is the surprise factor the best case for a Browns week one win? We got quick hits coming up talking about last night's dog butt football game and some of the fallout from it in five minutes on 92 three, the fan. Lindsay Rhodes of Sumer Sports coming up in about 40 minutes Nick and JP back on afternoon drive.
We do have a developing story here JP. Oh yeah, what's up? I don't know you're going to like this. Okay. All right. I'm ready for it. I don't know that I like it, but we have some internet slutes pointing out that fanatics has dropped all of Shedore's jerseys to clearance prices. They've gone from a buck 49 99 to 39 99. It's the more expensive in the team. Every single Shedore jersey, the internet slutes are saying every single one of them. Every I just looked on fanatics myself to make sure the internet wasn't making this up. Okay, so we have we have some deals that could potentially be had out there for listeners that want some cheap jerseys. So that's that's your takeaway and not the idea that that looks like a fire sale. I think we were going to have some cheap jerseys. I don't know what I'm wondering. Why would Shedore's jersey be on clearance here if he's one of the most popular jerseys sellers in the United States? Is the suggestion that fanatics somehow knows something before everybody else?
So you think fanatics wouldn't know if somebody was going on the shop. I feel like if Shedore's Anders is being traded fanatics, not the first people that finds out. You mean, I mean, Michael Rubin probably not the first guy that has that information. I don't know about that. Michael Rubin might be top five most powerful guys in sports right now. Don't think he gets that information before all the news breakers and all the people that would actually be invested in that. I think the defense you're making is that fanatics is fanatics would know before anybody else would know just as early as anyone else. Yeah. That's a ridiculous suggestion. Why is that a ridiculous suggestion there? Why one way. Why one way? Clothing website the Jersey site be the first one to be able to know that it's not just a Jersey website. Their a gigantic merch website. They're the biggest merch website in all of America. So why would they get the information first? So Andrew Barry because they're the most powerful sports sports. And he's going to be Before Andrew Barry tells, you know, Shepter or any of the newsbreakers, he's gonna tell fanatics? Yeah, and he's not going to call them up directly, but do I think fanatics here's before the news goes public? Yeah, I think that's probable.
I don't believe that at all. Why not? Give me an example of it happening. It's, I don't know, I don't follow the fanatics market. I don't follow when people find out stuff. You're not really defensive about this. If you're getting out of the defensive. I think I'm just gonna be a lot of it. You're defending. You're defending fanatics being the newsbreaker on this. I think fanatics might know quicker than you realize. If Shedore, I just disagree with it completely. I got no evidence of them ever breaking news on a story. You're ever them ever being, I do a press release like come get 39.99 jerseys, but usually when they knock jerseys down to 39.99, it's because that guy doesn't play for that team anymore. I would imagine it's just because they have a lot of inventory of Shedore Sanders jerseys. Nobody's been buying Shedore Sanders brown jerseys and they're trying to get rid of them. How do you know nobody's been buying them? Because nobody, nobody's been buying Shedore for fanatics. Well, I don't have any inside information that tells me that no one's buying Shedore jerseys. Really, isn't it obvious? Nobody's buying Shedore jerseys right now? No, no, these Shedore fans like the browns at the current moment. They're certainly not gonna think that Shedore
is gonna be on this team for a million years. Again, it's not my theory. I'm just saying people are doing the math and wondering. We're defending the theory like it's your theory. I think it's a plausible. I don't think it can be, I don't think it should be dismissed. It gets traded in the next 24 hours. I will bow down and apologize to Michael Rubin and fanatics and also mark it as an NFL first. What about Nick Wilson? I don't care about Michael Rubin. All right, I'll give you a bunch of credit. If Shedore Sanders gets traded in the next 24 hours, I'll be like, boy, did you have that one first? You really sniffed it out? I just think it's a lunacy to think that this means that Shedore Sanders trade is coming. Absolute and utter lunacy. Could be a release. One of the biggest trades. Could be a release. I guess in theory, it could be. It's not going to be considering Todd Monkin just said a day ago that he's already going to be the backup quarterback and his slot in is the number two spot in the squad. And then the squad, Todd Monkin said something different about the backup quarterback spot. I'd be really shocked if the release is coming and fanatics was first on the case. That's the, I think that's a, I think that's a plausible explanation for why the Jersey's dropped like that. I think that's a reasonable take.
I think it's pretty simple. I just think not a lot of people are buying to Norse Anders Brown's jerseys right now. It's popular guys and some of the NFL. They put them on discount and you go from there. And I think mine's more probable than yours, but I'll, you know what? Traded or released is more probable than just not a lot of people are behind the logical explanation. I think it's my point. And I think your logical explanation has a logical. I think they just had a bunch of inventory of Shadour Sanders jerseys and they're not fanatics. That's bad at business. And some areas they miss they, they, they calculated the Shadour market. Yeah, I think that's fair. Mm hmm. I think I think that's very fair. They miscalculated the Shadour market. I think that sounds way more reasonable than he's going to be released or traded in 24 hours. 26474 0092, the internet sleuths uncovering that fanatics has marked their Shadour jerseys from a buck 4999 all the way down to 3999. We call that the Odell Beckham Jr. Browns jerseys circa, well, ever since like 2022. We call that kind of markdown. Are you guys seeing the potential logic here that JP can't seem to get around every
jersey is down to 3999? I looked on there. It was like the first six jerseys. There are a lot of them. There are a lot of them on there though. Yeah. So we got like two that aren't some of the male, some of the, the men's ones are not marked down that way. I see 14999 for some of the actual men's ones, the women's one, the men's white one is not marked down. The men's brown one is though. That one's pretty sweet. That's not great. That's the main one. The men's Nike white, the elevated one is still 18999. So that one is even a higher up jersey than 1946 collection. That is. Why are only some jerseys marked down and not every jersey? It's not the question we have to ask. And that's a great question. We're going to corner the market. That's good to quick hits from the latest news and rumors around the sports world to the sound bites you need to hear. It's quick hits. I feel like we have enough of these. We could just start sprinkling them in the rest of the show because we did half a segment on the Shadour thing but breaking news. Pay attention to us. A Seattle got the season opening win over the Patriots last 913 to 10 but lost starting
quarterbacks. The world for the game at the end of the first drive. Heroes head coach Mike McDonald giving an update on Donald after the win. With Sam we got some great news back. It's to say it's good news right now. So I know still just, you know, our thoughts and prayers with Sam. We love them. At this point we were able to rule out a fracture. So there's some more tests to be done. And so that's what I'm saying when it's positive. So that I know it's still working through all that. But right now I think fractures out which is which is great news. It could be a significant injury and it's still better than a fracture. A fracture could end your NFL career or at least a high level NFL career. But the question came to mind is how long of an injury does this have to be to cost the Seahawks a legitimate chance at repeating? The Seahawks in the time since has sounded pretty confident that he will be fine and this is not anything that's lengthy. I don't know. I took everything out of last night and this morning as if he's going to be back for next week. Is that just that to sunshine and rainbows of a look for me? I don't know because we've not been monitoring the same markets. I've been all over this fanatics thing.
Do you find anything new on the fanatics thing in the most recent 30 seconds? We talk about movements worth a lot of money and like to throw a lot of money. By the way, why do we throw white parties? That makes me very uncomfortable as somebody who's from the sticks. Has a different meaning when you throw it out there? Well, a white party, a party culturally is obviously a very different thing too. I mean, there's, I mean, there's, I don't know. I don't, I don't throw white parties. I'm not sure. Well, you live in a soul and every party is a white party. His the hottest ticket you can find. Come on now. Who's having fun? I caught a lot of diversity in my life, Nick. By a YouTube. I got way more than what's worth. Tell you that right now. I dare you. I'll dare I. We have women. We have. Yeah. We've got four Chinese restaurants. Yeah, you're Bill Muffet. Three. Three Mexican restaurants. Yeah, really doing it on. Diversity out the Yin Yang. Really doing it up. All right. Barry Melrose, former NHL player coach, long time hockey and a wispy S.B.N.
has died. He was 70 years old. I'm not a hockey guy in the slightest bit. You know this about me. But even I love Barry Melrose. I don't know anybody that didn't love Barry Melrose. And in fact, I would watch hockey segments on ESPN when Barry was on just because I thought he was that entertaining. I thought he was one of the best parts of hockey on ESPN. Yeah, I learned a lot of hockey from Barry Melrose. It was hard to get hockey information or outside of watching highlights, which again, are more just here's what happened instead of editorializing it. Barry was that gatekeeper for me until I discovered the internet when I was about 16 years old. This one's funny. I don't get affected that often by celebrity deaths because of my ties in him being my only tied to the NHL when I was nine years old. I was kind of wronged by this, especially just 70 years old and Parkinson's is what took him. That's just a brutal anything and any kind of degenerative diseases are really just brutal to happen anyways. It's just it's really tough. I just feel like there's a lot of people that share that same sentiment like if you wanted
to hockey coverage at any point in your life, Barry Melrose was the guy to deliver that. And then you quickly learned that he was the best at it for a reason. And he was wildly entertaining with an a product that I again, not my favorite product to the NHL, but he would make it really entertaining and really enjoyable. Yeah, that's a tough one there. Thoughts and love go out to the Melrose family there. And obviously a few of us know some people to work at ESPN. A lot of people affect about the loss of Barry Melrose. All right. This one's a quick one. Saturday Night Live is is named their hosts and musical acts for the first four shows of the fall. Yeah. Nick star, Jaylen Brunson is hosting week one. Is Jaylen Brunson do anything for non-nix fans trying to watch SNL? I think he's going to absolutely suck at it. I don't see a world that exists that Jaylen Brunson is good at hosting SNL hosting SNL is really hard. And there's been a couple athletes that have been able to pull it off. I thought Travis Kelsey didn't all right job. I think Charles Barkley did a good a nice job. Peyton's done a nice job. But like you have to have and we're talking about Peyton and Barkley, you have to have that mentality to do it to begin with.
Jaylen hasn't shown me any of that. I'd have to be really surprised in like a where did that come from world for Jaylen Brunson to be awesome at this. Yeah. One of the flaws of SNL and I'm a big SNL fan and I've watched SNL since I was a kid and I've watched the original seasons. And I feel like I know quite a bit about SNL. But one of the flaws is they really like to get inside New York and they think that it's their job to make everyone really enjoy everything about New York. Nobody that isn't a Nick's fan is going to care about this. And he could make up for it if you're suggesting what you're suggesting is true. But it was actually good at this. Jaylen Brunson has never shown anyone any bit of actual flavor or personality. Never. And what's that monologue even going to sound like? Yeah. Or is it just going to be a 10 minute standing ovation from New Yorkers to a guy that won a title where people here in Cleveland just do not care? Yeah. When SNL gets it really wrong is when they forget that the rest of the country exists and this feels like. Yeah. And if this was like week eight, I guess I would have an maybe my opinion would be a little
different week one or if he did something where it's like McConaughey host, but Jaylen Brunson's there and he gets to be in a skit and he gets to have the standing ovation or whatever you want to do that perfectly fine. Hosting it. Yeah. It's a big deal to ask somebody to host that. Also, I feel like the first four weeks musical guest sucks and that also bumps me down. He didn't even do post game interviews. Yeah. He hands the mic off to his dad half the time. Like what are we doing? And not great, not great at all. When we come back a damning headline about Jose Ramirez in a conversation we have to have, but I don't really want to have about the guardians and Jose Ramirez in five minutes on 92 through the fan. Hey guys. It's a three o'clock hour. I'm not wafering. I might be wafering on afternoon drive. 10-0. The sumer sports coming up in just about 20 minutes time. Nick and JP back with you getting you ready for week one. Browns, Jaguars and just a few moments here. We got to get into some Gartos thoughts though.
I do have to say that we were talking in that last segment about the Shedore Jersey price drop. And I got a message from me. I'm going to say somebody in the clothe your business. All right. Somebody that has connections to fanatics and all like they purchased fanatics or what's their connection? No. I'm not here to divulge my source there would be. Word is sure. And I just got the eyeball emojis. Yeah. You see DeShon Watson jerseys are also on sale. Now they're not $39.99. They're $69.99. Oh, that's poor. Marked down from $1.184. That's really $180 by that. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, ditch jerseys either are on sale. And the sale ends tonight. It is a classic flash sale trying to draw eyeballs to the Brown's website or the Brown's fanatics website to move some merch before the season gets underway. But I don't have a clothe you're texting me about that. I think there's a lot of interest from the clothe your community based off my one text message.
Okay, then. Yeah. Do you have a clothe you're texting you? I don't think you have one either. I mean, before you tell me what to say. I don't have to, no, no, that's not how this works. That's not how journalism works. Oh, fine. I just got a text from a clothe here too. No, what about that? Like, what do you mean? It doesn't mean I know that this works. This is exactly how this works. All right. See? You're showing me the name. You didn't vet anything. I'm not going to show you the name because all your guy is just somebody that you know that happens to buy a lot of jerseys on websites. It's not a real clothe here. But every time Marikay Cabot comes on, do you go, all right, Marikay, love your opinion, but now show me your source? No, because Marikay isn't trying to make some sort of claim that should or Sanders is going to be traded because the Maddix is. I'm not making the claim. I'm saying people are making the claim. Because the Maddix is tipped off. I'm people are making the claim. Also, I think there's some potential merit there. I don't do a show with Marikay Cabot. If I did a show with Marikay, I'd ask her all the time. I'm going to use your source on that. Absolutely. Bullshoy. You would not. I would if she constantly told me things like, oh, yeah, yeah, I got this clothe the air when you've never mentioned having anyone in the clothing business as a friend ever.
Yeah. Well, one, look how I dress, too. That's the other side of this. So one of the clothing business is going to be friends with you. Well, yeah, they don't pick their friends based off what they wear. I think they'd look at your, your non-limited run of Star Wars t-shirts. And they'd say, I probably be like, I wish I had that vibe. You know what? Here's the spin on that. Bad job by the clothe air friend. If you truly are, they know they can't change me. They know they can't change me. Why aren't you trying to help them a little bit? Why don't you try to change them? I'm just trying to change them just a little bit. I want you to reach out to some clotheers now, because I've already got a clothe you're willing to say on the record with their name off the record. The eyeballs are moving. No wonder this is on the record. And you've got nothing. You're just all you're trying to do is poke holes in what I would say is a pretty water tight delio over here. I think common sense should prevail in this one. I think fanatics having a limited 24 hour sale, sale that ends at midnight tonight, because they have a lot of Sh and our Sanders inventory. And I'm trying to get eyeballs on the Browns fanatic site. I got up else over here.
And they're getting eyeballs. You see all the people talking about it now? Yeah. You got clothing people know what's clothing people reaching out to you. You got us talking about it on the radio. Discounted to Sean Watson, Jersey's by the way for the people if you want those exist as well. And not as discounted as the Shadour ones. You've got a blind spot over there with Shadour. And I get it. That's your guy. You've been a Shadour guy from day one, the Shahive and whatnot. I'm a common sense operator. And this one, the idea that fanatics is being tipped off to a trade or release is just not common sense. The most popular clothing companies, the most popular clothing company and merchandise companies in all the sports. Real first. If fanatics beat out Shafter and rap sheet and all the heavy hitters for news, it'd be a real first. I'm here for the first. I just like to think those guys know things first and that like common people in common scenarios don't know things in sports. I just think it's funny that you think that fanatics would know first in this instance. And one of the biggest companies in America is that you said common people. Fanatics isn't common people. Fanatics is a major corporation. Meaning like Michael Rubin is and is in collecting sources and saying, Hey, can I copy
and paste this email like insider? Steve, you think Rubin is is I think he knows a lot more what's going on in sports than but he hasn't used his influence in the slightest bit when it comes to benefiting him in Jersey sales on you don't know that the week of the unit. Well, you know, for instance, then give me another instance. No, no, the birth of that. You said no, it's not my born of proof as it doesn't exist. That means the born of proof is on you to show no, it's not. No, no. That's the idea of born of proof. Show you have to showcase. No, there's an idea that it's show me. I'm going to show me that it's never happened before. That's why I can't give you an example. Well, yeah, I can never happen before and then all of a sudden it's a real thing, right? Oh, comments never in America because I don't have any proof of it. Bang. I now burn the proofs on you there. We have history evidence of comments. I haven't seen it. They exist. They're on planet earth. You can ask me to it. They're on planet earth. They don't exist. The point is, again, I just, I can just make up anything. The earth is flat. That burn the proofs on you there, big cheese.
On the earth being flat or not. This is, if anyone's listening and like Nick's making a lot of sense with the fanatics thing, I think you just lost them there. I think they're like, I think my point is, this is where we're getting them. You can just say anything and say the burn the proof is on you when I think you've been a bit of a trying to poke holes through thing and all I've done is bring, again, bring it a text here. Clothe the earth sending me. I've lost the polygraph. Because this is where you don't believe this. You don't, yeah, this is where it, forget the, forget the, it wins nonsense. You don't believe this right here. This is where I want the polygraph. You don't believe that fanatics has an inside edge to the Shador San just right. I just want you to be a little open minded. You do not believe that. I think you're very close-minded to this because of your shador blind spot. It's got nothing to do with your door. Your blind spot, we should do it. You're going to get it. You're going to get it. You are, you are, you are. You're watching. I would say the same exact thing. They're different. Why aren't they existing for the Shador and Watson Convo? By the way, they're different price cuts. This is massively on sale as well. Are they clearance? Why? Because Fanatics probably has a lot of inventory. They probably have a lot of jerseys they're trying to sell. They think this jersey might be irrelevant by week two.
So you put a jersey up there for 70 bucks. I get to, this isn't hard. This is, fanatics exist for a reason. They've done the research on this. They're not going to get eyeballs there. Yeah, they do. Yeah, they do know. They know a lot. They've done the research. They know who's going to be here in New York. They've been here in New York. They've been here in New York. They've been here in New York. They've been here in New York. They've been here in the 1946, you know, like the real nice jerseys, all of the, all of the, the screen print ones are the only ones that are on sale. They're driving traffic. They're getting people to the Browns website. The Browns Fanatics website. Like this is just all this is. And I'm really only saying there's nothing else to them. I've seen a lot of the word clearance with Shador Sanders. That's just very interesting. Yeah, it's just a business tactic. Yeah. There's really nothing more to it. I'm sure it is. If you presented this with a Mason Graham, I would tell you the same exact thing. But it's not gonna trade your business practice. It's a nation-gram. That's silly. This is the polygraph. This is why I need this. Why? I'm just, I'm simply just trying to be open-minded about it. And you're, again, I love how much you love Shedore. And I think that's a good amount of people.
That's not what this is. This is nothing to do with a love of Shedore or anything like that. There's got nothing to do with that. This is common sense. It should not be a hot take to be like, fanatics isn't the first one to find out that a trade happens. A lot of smart things, a lot of smart people saying a lot of really smart things. We're hearing from Clotheers. And again, I'm not reporting anything over here. I just think it's interesting. I just think it's very interesting that people are connecting the dots over there. I don't. It's a quiz. It's a Jersey site trying to sell jerseys the wake of the NFL season starting. You don't need to be sure lot homes to figure this one out. Getting very defensive about this. I'm getting angry at you is what I'm getting angry at. I don't know what the fangs of it's getting angry. I'm just listening to the marketplace of ideas. Speak this into some sort of big. No, we're the marketplace of ideas. That's what this is. A marketplace of ideas. Do you know how much I know how dumb I think Twitter is for people even giving this energy? For people even thinking that this could be a possibility. You should tell them that. I just did. It's the dumbest thing that you could possibly come up with in the name of should or is getting traded. I mean, or release. Should or starting this week.
But it should not start this week. The big tip off, fanatics is going to be the one that's doing this. Shut up people. This is ridiculous. I think you're sounding like somebody who's worried. Absolutely. I think you're sound a little scared here. And I get it. I don't want to be furious if they cut should or trade them too. I haven't watched 15 games of the Sean Watson suck it up. That's going to happen. I just say that's going to happen regardless of if should or is on the roster or not. That's in the Sean's hands right there. Hmm. 216. We sure he's also on clearance. Because you know, companies need to sell Jersey this time. I marked down because you know, companies, maybe maybe maybe most of us. That's $70. That's a lot of money. $40 is nothing. I mean, $40 didn't even buy you a tank of gas anymore. Right? It's actually right on the number for my car. Yeah. Yeah, right on the number. 40 bucks. 40 bucks gets a though. I'm sorry, four cylinder engine. Words hard. Me. A four banger. She's got a four banger. You see why I have a disdain of four bangers. Oh, oh, oh, oh, you see the problem. And it's about $52 to fill up the gas tank.
I know. I would set that car on fire. You only have four bangers in your family. Might be the most disappointing use of all this. No, it's in vinesis. This is this. It is in vinesis. This is the most disappointing. I don't tell my wife what cars she can buy. I can just silently judge it and hope the thing catches fire one day. Wow. And it's a four banger. So it might. Yeah. You know, big deal, little deal, no deal. I'm a no deal side. I want this known among the little deal side. If you were a little sensible about this on the little deal side, I think I could be like, all right, big deal, little deal. There's some, there's a little gap there, right? Big deal, no deal. I mean, come on. What are we doing here? I think it's a little deal. I can tell you think it's at least a little deal. Yeah. And so I think we could be together on a little deal together. We exist not together on this one. No chance. Man, the YouTube chat is, oh, PJ saying JP has his head in the sand. CoinLitos way your boy coinLito saying 39 99 and free shipping,
free shipping as well. You usually got to spend like 60 bucks or something to get free shipping. That's how bad they want to get rid of those Shedore jerseys. I gotta read that one. A JP's reaction mat as long as Shedore is still in Cleveland. I'm good. Okay. All right. I'll plot Jim saying plus a free voucher for a free Owen Marie sect Jersey. Yeah. That's where you really know you ever spend time on these sites and just go through the sale items. Like the fanatics or the Michelin NAS or those type of sites and just kind of go through the sales and just see I must spend I spend way too much time trying to find deals on clothes that I never end up buying. Yeah. I never buy them. I never do. I'm always like searching and hunting around for this like great deal. That'll just never exist. It's a complete time suck, but I do it all the time. During the pandemic, I had a good 18 month run where I had a lot of extra time on my hand. It wasn't caught in Charlotte traffic most days. And so the kids would be in bed. And then that should be a sleep on the couch and I just start tipping them back. And all of a sudden, I'd be buying various minor league Mexican night themed baseball
hats. And I have like I have like 15 of them. And they were at least a good deal. No, not at all. They were like they were like 30 bucks each. Oh, yeah. Cause sometimes you can go on these sites and you can find like basketball shorts for like eight bucks. But it's like, do I want to walk around wearing a pelicans basketball shorts? Nobody does. Nobody does. And so I can have a bunch of random NBA. Short for teams I don't care about, but I just do I just choose not to and I keep waiting. I'm like, all right, is a team I'm going to if the cab's going to finally pop up, they never pop up. 216 474 0092 fanatics has put all of Shedore's jerseys on clearance. And and again, a lot of people are really smart people are saying that this could be the end of Shedore in Cleveland. Are you concerned big deal, little deal, no deal. It's a big deal because Lindsey Rhodes, Sumer Sports, going to be joining us in five minutes on 92, three, the fan. Digging JP back on afternoon drive. The Shedore jersey debate rages on what's going on over there at fanatics.
What do they know that we don't know? Clothes ears and the common man, all uniting and curiosity. But we got a game on Sunday and to talk about the outlook for the 2026 Cleveland Browns. I think I think I'm going to have another supporter here. I've said the Browns are an eight win team while a bunch of a bunch of very smart people. Do you know, Windsies? Do you know our answer before we bring around? Oh, I'm flying blind here. Okay, then I'm going to say unequivocally, the Sumer Sports side of her will not let her believe this Browns. But Jeremy Fowler's on my side of Browns could surprise. I got Oyafuji. I got Bastoc. I am collecting. I'm a massing a bunch of people who have logged on to my way of thinking. And we'll see if Lindsay's right there with us on the Wyzen right. We make it right call Kyle right hotline of Sumer Sports. Lindsay Roach joins us right now. Lindsay, welcome to the show. Hi, I think I'm having some technical difficulties. I couldn't hear that question. So I'm not going to answer it. Okay, which one about the Shedore jersey? I thought this was a, yeah, that's a setup.
Eight. Eight is what he's saying. Okay. I don't know. I don't. So here's Lindsay. Lindsay, don't be nice about this. He's walking around. It's a nice, if this is the assumption and as if everyone should have this take of eight wins. Because don't hurt me. Don't be nice here. Don't be nice. Be nice. Okay. Well, I'm, I'm going to still try to be nice. I don't. Here's where, here's where I'm hung up here is I just don't know where the confidence in making that prediction is coming from because there's so many questions about this team. Like there's so much that I don't know to be honest with you. And I think that that honestly makes this team a fascinating team to watch in week one in particular because they just, it's going to be just like an information like fire hose, right? We're going to learn so much about what they're going to do and what they're going to look like. But like, I don't even know what the schemes are going to look like with this new coaching staff. And we're looking at new, right? What does Watson look like? We haven't seen that for a while.
He hasn't looked good in years past. Will that be different now that they've added some different pieces around him? We've got a new coach in place. What's the protection look like up front with a heavily turned over offensive line? I mean, in the early going, I've got communication related questions for them. What does the blitz pick up look like? The communication on stunts, the run block timing. I don't know. What do the wide receivers look like? And this is a very different looking room than it was last year, who's the first three, most frequently? I mean, Jerry Judy was the primary receiver last year in addition to like Harold Shannon David and Joke about what does the target shares look like now that you've added these rookies? Conception is one of my favorite guys to have come out of the draft. How is he used in this offense? Is it predominantly him or Denzel Boston? What does Shannon like? How does he work into all of this? And I haven't even talked about the defense, which also is Schwarzliff and Garrett Liff. And so I just have so many questions that I have no way of framing any kind of prediction
that would say they're going to be better or worse than the markets are suggesting at this moment. So you were so respectful on that that when I am proven right, I will not have a victory lap on you. And the same way you didn't take a victory lap when you said the Brown should trade miles Garrett about a year early and people were very mean to you. You were so respectful that you never took that. I will be taking a victory lap, but I won't be taking one on you. Here's my elevator pitch. One one of the easiest strength of schedule, both predictive and travel, the offensive lines fair, but we saw New England and Chicago rebuild their offensive lines in one off season as soon as last year. I do think they finally have playmakers that might allow you to overcome the lack of talent at quarterback, at least if to show on watch and starter. And I honestly think people have forgotten the Browns actually have plenty of really good defensive football players that aren't named miles Garrett, namely Carson, Swessinger, namely Denzel Ward. And honestly, I think being people is freeing about Malik Collins, who was on a career year
pace last year before getting hurt. Yeah, there's no doubt there's a lot there on the defensive side of the ball in particular. You bring up great points. I think in terms of making a prediction about it, I just want to see how the new defensive coordinator who wasn't even defensive guy last year, how is he going to use them? Is he going to use them the same way that Schwartz used them? I mean, are we going to see more like coverage influence defense as opposed to like it stemming from what's happening up front? I am a big proponent of Jared Burst. And when that trade happened, I was a big proponent of this thing of good trade for Cleveland in a ton of different ways, one in terms of rebuilding, collecting the assets that you get in exchange for this guy who is going to go at the highest price that you're going to get. But then also the guy that you got in return is so talented. And so will he reach the ceiling that Miles Garrett did? Probably not, but is there a massive drop off?
Probably not. So I think that I am with you in that sense. I just don't know how it's all going to come together. We still seeing the least highest rate of man out of this season. It's like, how do they use them? You know, we've talked a lot here, well, it's humor where the nerds talk about like coverage rates and going to like light personnel groupings and seeing like one of the takeaways from last night was, you know, we saw a lot of heavy personnel from the Seahawks and we saw it. We saw a lot of light personnel defensively. I think that that's something to look for as we move forward. We've talked about a ton of teams going to like, you know, they drafted a lot of tight ends this year. And are we going to see teams throwing a lot of, you know, two and three tight end formations onto the field? And then how do you match that as a defense? Are you in? They're trying to get you back to base to threaten the run and to get you in a run look and then try and pass on you in that way. But, you know, we saw last night, they stuck to nickel.
And so we're seeing a lot of nickel and I wouldn't like tonight with the Rams. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a ton of dime from the Rams defense, 60 defense at backs on the field to try and stop the pass, especially with the front that they have there. So there's just so many questions that I have about how you manipulate those pieces that admittedly are good in defense. Like how do you use them? That's a lot of minutia, which I agree with you that the Cleveland defense will keep scores down. Brass tax. I think that the defense will continue to be good. Will it be as good as it was last year? We were keeping, you know, scores down to the degree because the sacks that Miles Garrett was racking up. I don't know that that number is going to be as high this year. But I have a lot of questions about the offense and whether or not they're going to take steps forward to the degree where they can win enough of those games even if they're low scoring. But I do agree you have the wider heavers. And frankly, Fanon was a find in the draft.
I think that they've done a pretty good job in the draft. I loved that they went wider heaver, wider heaver. I loved the fact that they did that. And just took two bites in an apple at a position they needed. They needed to upgrade this off season. And like I said, conception is so versatile. And one of the stats that I like about him the most, I don't have it right in front of me. But in college, the Texas A&M quarterbacks completed their deep throws. 15 yards or more at like a 53% clip or they're on target rate with like 53%. Long story short, they were not good at throwing the ball accurately down field. And he still produced at like every facet of the field at every depth inside, outside with the ball in his hands creating separation. And so I think he's already shown us that he can produce in spite of quarterback play in some ways. And I think that that makes him a really interesting piece to this grounds often. I hear a lot of agreement here.
They only, so I think my counterpoint in the offense because I really do hear all the what ifs. The only counterpoint is that was not a functional offense last year. They could not, they couldn't run motion because they would immediately trigger some sort of penalty. I don't think it's that hard to be functional on offense. And I think, month of the maximizer, which is what I'm, I'm a trust in Todd Manlindsay. And I think, I think they're going to be able to be functional. Even if that seems to be the lowest bar to clear. I just don't know. I think that in this particular case that the quarterback play is such a huge part of the functionality. And I think, like if you look at the Raiders last year and maybe, you know, clear this up for me if I'm, if I'm incorrect. I think when you look at the Raiders last year, the functionality issues stemmed from everywhere. I mean, we, you know, there were stories about like the offensive line meeting by themselves because they felt like they weren't getting what they needed out of the coaching staff.
That is massively problematic because it all stems from what's happening up front. And then you have like, you know, past catchers like who are the wide receivers there? There's just like, there's so much environmental breakdown that then you go, okay, the quarterback play was terrible, but the quarterback play was also a reflection of the environment. Like all of it kind of it worked in concert where it was all bad. And so it was hard to point at one specific thing in Cleveland. I think a lot of the functionality did stem from the fact that they just haven't been able to find a quarterback that is. And it was, yeah, I disagree with that. I agree that they need. Now, I looked at it more like how the Raiders were. The offensive line was incredibly injured and also just incredibly bad. And then as far as receivers are concerned, Jerry Judy was the only notable wide receiver on the team and he was dropping passes like you wouldn't believe. So like, I mean, it's not to say that the offense was completely a waste. Judkins was good. And you can only do so much with the offensive line and fan and was good.
But I think there were much more product of the environment while also having bad quarterback play, obviously. But I think they were closer to what you're describing with the Raiders than maybe just saying the quarterback then had everything be off the rails. Okay, that's fair. I wonder, I think, I think maybe what I'm getting at here, and this isn't an interesting conversation to try and kind of nail down, is that I just am not convinced based on what I've seen from the quarterbacks there in Cleveland that even if the environment was better, that their play would be appreciably better. And so that is, that's a pretty big outstanding question for me. So even if the environment is as we have sort of laid out here in a bunch of different ways, it looks like they've made really smart changes in the off season to try and make the environment better this year. And I just have question marks about the talent, frankly, throughout the room. I don't know that I don't know that they have their quarterback of the future on staff.
And I don't know that they have a quarterback that is good enough that they will be able to, like we saw with Sam Darnel and Niseehawks last year, right? Like you just have to be good enough, right? If the environment is good and you can be good enough and you're not going to be the problem, then that is good enough in a lot of way, in a lot of cases. And I don't know that the quarterback is there who can get out of the way and not be the problem. All right. Give us a quick breakdown of Jacksonville. I think they're a very confusing team. I tend to think a little bit higher on them than I think most people do. Where do you stand with Jacksonville right now? Yeah. I think that they are an interesting team. And the thing that I'm most, I mean, they're wide receiving. Our group of pass catchers is fascinating because I mean, they've got three guys and we see this in fantasy dresses off season where like none of them are going really high because no one knows who the one is. But we do think. And then, but then as soon as they started coming off the board, it's Parker Washington followed by Jacobi Myers, followed by Brian Thomas Jr. like they all go.
And I think a really strong indicator of the fact that we think that the talent is there. I don't know if it's going to be spread around and in what way like what we saw from Parker Washington at the end of the year last year was that he was pretty interesting as a weapon. But will he continue to be? Is he the first read? Who does the offense run through? Like who do they in a in a perfect situation? Really trying to get open and get the ball to. I just don't know the answer. And then does Travis Hunter rotate in at all? Do they literally afford to they not even need him? This guy that they just drafted so high in the draft two years ago because he could go both ways. Did they not even need him to go both ways? And then, you know, we talked about all this heavy personnel stuff. They're like one team that I would go, no, don't, don't do that. Like I think you're in your best personnel grouping if you're in 11 because I want those three wide receivers on the field with a pretty high degree of frequency because I think that they're all really good at different things. And so I think that they're really interesting in the sense that they have so many fascinating
pieces. And I think the Trevor Lawrence is a guy who, while he has been a roller coaster and really hard to nail down and say like, I think he's good and he's going to continue to be good. Like I don't know that I feel comfortable about that, but it did seem to start clicking for him at the end of the year last year. And I'm curious to see if they can kind of pick up where they left off and continue to ride that momentum. And then I think that the defense is, you know, two degree a little bit underrated. And so I think that I think that they're an interesting team. They're not a team that I would necessarily predict is like, you know, in the Super Bowl contention necessarily this season. But I think they're a really interesting, you know, potential playoff team and a team that could be a really tough out on a week to week basis. Lindsay, you always bring it. We might disagree on the Browns win total this year, but you bring it every single time it come on. We appreciate you. Keep doing great work at Sumer Sports. And we're going to keep bugging to come back. Thank you so much. Love coming back. And so please ask again, Lindsay Rhodes, they're Sumer Sports and the Wyeshart right.
We make it right. Call Kyle right hotline. She's very smart. Me very dumb. I am right about the Browns though. I take that. This has been right every time she's come on about basically everything. So she's do it. Can't have you. She's do it. Can't have you feeling good. Before we act with Lindsay had to say and also get into the concerning headline about Jose Ramirez in five minutes on 92. Why an on demand now? I just do not convince based on what I've seen from the quarterback's hearings. We've learned that even if the environment was better, that their play would be appreciably better. And so that is that's a pretty big outstanding question for me. It looked like they've made really smart changes in the off season to try and make the environment better this year. And I just have question marks about the challenge frankly in throughout the room. I don't know that they have their quarterback in the future on staff and I don't know that they have a quarterback that is good enough that they will be able to like we saw with
Sam Darnel and the Seahawks last year, right? You just have to be good enough, right? If the environment is good and you can be good enough and you're not going to be the problem, then that is good enough in a lot of cases. And I don't know that the quarterback is there who can get out of the way and not be the problem. Lindsay Rhodes of Sumer Sports in the previous segment, giving us her quarterback down for the Browns. We do have Pete Futek, collegefootballnews.com, coming up in about 40 minutes by the way, a little high state Texas action. Who needs this one more? What is the thing about the game? What not? We'll talk a little daring and men said to it. I watched him this last weekend against Stanford. It's fantastic. I'm going to say it. Nobody else has the gall to say it, but this guy, he's good at football. Yeah. I also can understand like what I think the Browns want the offense to be in 2026 and beyond. I think daring and men says going to do a lot of what they want their quarterback to do. Now, that being said, I don't, I don't actually disagree on the quarterback room. I understand it's the greatest out.
I also, I don't, I don't really want to fight anybody who thinks it's the worst quarterback room in the NFL. And I have a certain amount of despair. It's starting to show on Watson at least for week one. And I, so I understand the skepticism, but devil's advocate. Why does it feel like this is the only quarterback room? I'm not hearing a little bit of week one, hey, maybe like I'm hearing that about Geno Smith in New York. I'm hearing people speak glowingly about current. The Sean hasn't heard that. Well, I, so I don't think it's just that though. I think in, I think one of the great drugs in, in football is new because new breeds hope. So if this was Deshaun Watson starting in Arizona, I think people would say, well, it's a new scenario. It's a fresh start for Deshaun. Hey, you never know, right? But because he was here the last four years and because Shadour was here in December and we're just making purely statistical evaluations of him and not actually watching what actually
happened, which I think was actually better than the, the, the stats say, I think we're just easily skipping to 2027. And I just, I, I just think it's interesting to watch 31 of the 32 teams get a little bit of that hope machine at quarterback, but not the Browns, even if I disagree with the Browns mentality with the Sean, certainly. Well, I, and yeah, I just don't feel like the Sean's earned it. But on Lindsey's point, I always find this fascinating. It's like, are you a product of your environment or are you the environment and everything else? And really, the way the NFL's established itself is that you, there still has to be a bar you have to clear as a quarterback to even if you have the environment set up to be able to do something with that. I Jalen Hertz, I think is a great example of this. Jalen Hertz is one of the best offensive lines in the game. He's always had great wide receivers. He's always had great weapons. And then Jalen Hertz takes advantage of it and people are like, I don't know that Jalen Hertz is a great quarterback. I don't know that he's a good quarterback, but the environment's so good. He's going to have success. Jared golf, another idea of this, brought party. Another idea of this. Somebody she mentioned. She mentioned San Bernard, I think that's like the example to go with right now, right?
And it's like, so there has to be a little bit of a bar you have to clear. And I think where Lindsey's argument starts to strengthen within the argument for why the Browns maybe won't have the best 2026 is does Deshawn Watson, if it is Deshawn for the majority of the games or at least the early part of it, does he clear that even initial bar that it feels like some of these other quarterbacks we're talking about do? Well, and it's interesting because they're the Browns case right now is that Deshawn Watson clears the bar in terms of operation in terms of running the offense, all the stuff that doesn't involve throwing the football or I don't say reading a defense because it does involve that, but all the kind of stuff that that honestly we did see quarterbacks struggle with last year. And so what's interesting is you have that versus what I do think is raw playmaking ability from Shadour, but maybe the, you know, whether it's whether it's whether the penalties that, oh my gosh, the clock, the clock expires. The way I'm going. Thank you. Good Lord.
That's all right. I also ask Keith, who was coming up on the coaches show in the break. So we're going to do a break. I mean, the time I get my game out. Yeah. Yeah. That's a great one. But I mean, the delay game penalties or like the silly turnovers, like I understand that's the thing that the Browns were trying to leverage with the decision of Dishon Watson, but it's like, all right. But if you can't throw the ball over the middle of the field, if you can't tell the difference, if you're on that, that's the five yard pass and a 10 yard pass. That's what we're talking about just clearing that bar. I think that's what that is. What that has to be. Bo Nix is another example I probably should have brought up fantastic offensive line. He has so many good weapons. When Cortland Sutton's your number two, you're doing a lot of things right. Sean Payton's a great head coach. And it's like, well, all right. But Bo's still despite what people thought about him college, he still has to make enough throws. He still has to make enough passes. He still has to have that talent enough in order to go ahead and make it all work. And so the question the Browns have to ask themselves. I think this real divide and where some people lie is, will Dishon be able to clear that low, low bar in order to make the environment work for him?
Well, but that's what I find most interesting about this because I do think with time a quarterback can learn to do those things that we're talking about, the functionality things. But I don't think you can do anything about it. If you're just cooked as a quarterback, you don't have confidence. You're wildly inaccurate. It's never going to work. And then you go to Shador and is no matter what people think about Shador, he did show enough actual playmaking ability. And I think that's why I'm so fascinated about this is I understand they might think having Shador out there in week one is a liability. If the plays are delayed a bit or I really do understand that. I just I can't get over if the car can't if the engine doesn't work in the thing, it's not going anywhere. At least Shador has the engine. I don't know Dishon has the engine, the transmission, the headlights. I don't know. He's got anything. But if he did, he'd drive that thing 86 and a 60. I tell you that right now. Pretty good cars these days. Yeah.
Yeah. I think cars maybe picked a different but two on six four seven four 0092. What's the bar that whoever the brown starting quarterback is the most games this year has to clear. And it's the four quick out on afternoon drop. As always you can listen to this show and all of our local shows on the fan on Apple podcast, Spotify or wherever you get your podcast. Pete Futeck College football news coming up in about 20 minutes time Ohio State Texas. Where's the lean? That's what I want to know. Anywhere it's more pressure on them Julian San or Arch Manning. But how would you have the lead coming up at six o'clock or five o'clock and then at six o'clock Michael Markcots with lock it in. We're going to try something new there. But we do have an update. You're telling me we have an update on the Shador Sanders clearance jerseys. Yeah. So okay. So I guess we'll set the scene for people just joining us right. About an hour and a half ago we were debating whether or not Shador Sanders is jerseys being
clearance meant anything. People were wondering 39.99. Is it me? He's going to be traded? Given the braille and edwings treatment. We argued argued extensively about that. Clotheier text me the Google. Sorry. The double eye emoji there. Enatics has gotten rid of their clearance of Shador Sanders. Oh, this is this. These jerseys are back to 149.99. And now they look so guilty on this. At least I was always positing the idea that it's like a it's a rush to football type of sale. It says in fine print right here offer expires tonight at midnight. And so it's like, all right, short bars. You got too much inventory. You got to it's fine. You got to do what you got to do. I what happened though. Where now fanatics is having to raise the program. Remove the clearance. Fanatics realized they jumped the gun. Did they sell too many? They sell too many jerseys? They sell too many jerseys. I think I might have sold too many jerseys. They tip their hand that Shador's getting traded or cut. I think too many people bought Shador Sanders jerseys at 40 bucks a piece. And then they're like, well, hold on a second. We can't give these things away.
No, I think it's the opposite. I think they realized they could have endangered their relationship with the NFL by putting news out there that's not ready for publication. Yeah. And this is the guiltyest move in the, oh, you see those discounted jerseys as clearance jerseys. This is the oldest trick in the book. Oh, nothing to see here. I think somebody high up was like, we don't discount the Shador jerseys. We discount everything. We don't discount the Shador jerseys. The Miles Garage jerseys, what I said, not the Shador Sanders jerseys. I think someone high up said, you guys aren't supposed to know that yet. We're not, that's not, that's not hitting until later this week or maybe the next week. They jumped the gun on this story by five or six days. That's what this is. Five or six days. Yeah. The most, the most obvious thing you can do is if there's no, hey, we got to cover it up. Look, we switched it back. Oh, that was an error. Oh, was the intern going full Miami heat on this one. I've never been more certain. I'm terrified. You know, I want Shador to start. And if they do, the Browns do this.
If they, if they're letting people know that Shador's not a long time around Cleveland, I will not be happy. I need the polygraph. You're just lying. You're lying like a Persian rug right now. I mean, listen, I thought you did a good job of trying to spin. I thought you did a great job of trying to spin this because you don't want to confront the idea. Maybe a short time. I was obvious. I mean, the whole thing has been obvious the entire time. Somebody of an addicts had a lot of inventory. They wanted to get rid of the inventory. How maybe even in the hour 15, they're like, all right, we got it, Shador fans. We sold what we needed to back to full price, but they're back to full price. I hope a lot of people took advantage of the discount of price while it lasted. Then it'll be again, and maybe five to six days if something happens here, something to keep an eye on again, the Jersey market never lost. It's not anything to keep an eye on. That's a big expression that everyone says in the clothing your business. I know because my clothing your guys. They gave the emojis. Yeah, your guy that happens to shop in online clothing retailers. That's their clothing guy. A's very connected in the community over there. Not connected at all. And again, you don't know my guy and I'm not going to give up my source. I'm fairly confident. I know you. But quite frankly, I get it.
You're going to stay in denial and that's what I love about you. You're that loyal to Shador. That's not what he didn't sup you. He sucked me. That's not what that is. I get it. I get it. You're playing the game and I appreciate that. We are back to full price. Yeah. We are back to full price. They're on to it. They realize. They're out of the water. They can't be in home. They can't be in home. There is nothing to freak out about people. There's nothing to be concerned about. It's not that there was anything to be concerned or freaked out about to begin with. But the water's a calm. Oh, man. The water's a calm. The prices are back to normal. I can't tell it on yourself. Everything is a-okay. I believe that you believe that or that you want to believe that. Pete Futik, have it happened about 15 minutes time. All this being said, I feel like one of the, listen, let's be clear here. The Browns Jacks game in every, every publication, every podcast that I'm seeing is getting the least amount of time in week one. The NFL Daily Podcast. Yeah. It was like two minutes at the end of the podcast.
Ross Tucker, there was a whole chapter. It looked like a five minute chapter. This is what five minutes look like. It's a minute. It's a minute, right? And it was like, it was like 30 seconds. I mean, I think it is the largest spread of week one. If it's not the largest, it's got to be the seconds. I thought it was the second largest. There was somebody who had a bigger line. I thought- The point is is that sometimes like people brought up earlier today, they were talking about like how week one is such a mystery and how week one you get off sorts of wacky results. And last year, the Patriots and the Raiders, the Raiders actually beat the Patriots. And it's like, yeah, go look at that spread though. That was a three point spread. Well, I think about it. The Raiders and the Patriots last year, week one was three points. Most books don't know what to do with the team when the season is getting ready to go. And the idea that you'd have it at eight and a half means they have a pretty strong feeling about how this is going to go. I mean, it started at seven and a half, but I just think the money- I think the money is pushed it too. Because no, I don't think anyone's betting on the Browns. I think the money is pushed- Yeah, they're trying to, they're trying to, well, they're trying to bait the public into betting on the Browns. Consider the betting the betting the betting the betting the betting public is not biting right now.
Maybe, maybe you're going to bite, but the betting public isn't biting right now. That's why it will bite. That's why it keeps going up and they keep giving you more points. If you want to bet on your Brownies, I would, if I was a Browns fan and you're thinking about betting on this game, it's very reasonable to wait until Sunday at like 12.55 before you go and place any bets. But you and I have talked about and kind of tracked the narratives on this game or the narratives about the Browns. And I think it's really been interesting here in the last week. I've heard more Brown's defensive concerns than I did the entire offseason. I mean, even I posted a clip of you and I doing the Jared verse, Bill's potential, like what, what, what would you rather have taken for Miles Garrett? Yeah. And the amount of, I was blown away because I have not heard anyone have Jared verse doubt. And the first three comments on my Nick doc and Nick Wilson says, were, I don't think Jared versus that good. Oh, I rather with three first because I think Jared versus overrated. And I do think this is an emerging thing.
Like I think, I, listen, you've always, they've always worried about his sack production and whether or not it's going to be the greatest thing you've ever seen. I would argue that I, I, I, I, I focus more on his pressures and his quick hits. And that's where he tends to shine. If you're focusing just on the sack, you're not going to get the full picture. But I just think like the, the, the doubters about the Browns defense. And I did hear this after I called in about an hour and a half after I called in. They waited to have their response to me about an hour and a half after I called in the morning boys of the idea of, well, but what if the defense takes a step back? And it's just interesting. Again, I'm not saying that Jared versus the player that Miles Garrett is. And you know how much I love to Jim Schwartz. How furious I was that they led Jim Schwartz, that they bungled the Jim Schwartz side of this. Sure. And I also don't buy 100% that old Rudy there isn't going to try and put his own spin on the defense. That's what coaches do in the NFL. They want to make it there so they can take the credit for it. It makes sense that he's going to make some changes on this defense. But this idea that the only reason this defense had success was Miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz
is wildly wrong. And I get national people don't really maybe pay as much attention to Carson Swaychinger and Denzel Ward, Grant Delpick with a breakout. They know they know who that are. The Browns have pro-bolaurs at three levels of the defense. Like there's an understanding I think that exists there. It's just, I think the difference here Nick is that I think the expectation, if you think they're going to be last year, they were number five in defense of EPA. I think people are saying that's not that that's a part that's not going to happen again. Now it could be top five in defense of EPA. But if you're around, I don't know, 9, 10, 11, 12, that's not the biggest drop off and that's not the biggest worry. I just think I just think the Miles Garrett discourse and Miles by the way is getting an incredible glow up. He's got to count for something. I mean, he is just he just recently was named the number one player in the NFL. He does. But again, they replaced him with another guy who again, if you look at QB hits and if you look at pressures is also a top 10 edge pressure. I understand there is a gap between Miles and Jared verse, but my, Jared's also still
an ascending player. That is a gap that even though I don't think Jared verse over comes it, he can close that gap significantly going into year three. I listen, if you want to say I just, there's too many ifs on offense, I get it 100%. I get that I'm saying, to me, it's all about the offensive line. If the offensive line comes out and is jailed or is close to jelling early, I think that's going to be a huge head start on having a functional offense, but I'm saying the ifs at every level on the offense and I that's where I am being a little polyena. All right. I'm comparing it to last year's offense, which is non functional, but I get that the defense. I just again, like I feel like it's just while Miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz left town, so did the Browns defensive relevance. And I just think that's I think people have gone too far on it after hearing enough, and including our guy, we'll talk around his podcast. Yeah. I mean, if that's the case, then yeah, I suggest people went a little bit too far, but I've had part of my my feelings about this season baked into that idea that there's not going
to be a top five defensive team next year. That's just that's just not going to happen. It's but it should they live in the top 10 area. Yeah, they should now. What a ross say. Uh, oh, basically, he just thinks they are going to fall out of the top 10. Yeah, I mean, and again, I can how far are we talking here as well as the other components this? Cause I can't find too many people that think they're just going to be, they're going to be a bad defense. I think most people believe it's going to be the calling card of this Browns team is still going to have to be the defensive side of the ball. There still is again talent in every level of that defense. So you're ready for what I threw out there at Nick Wilson says on Twitter earlier today? Sure. What's here? Cause I do think it's still a little more skewed than I thought it would be, but I think this is an interesting question to ask. So what's more likely for the Browns in 2026, the defense falls out of the top 10 or the offense leaps out of the bottom 10. And mind you, it's not hard to not be a bottom 10 offense in the NFL. Well, you can make an argument that the Browns already last year were outside of the top 10 scoring defense, scoring defense. They were, I think 12 to 13th in the NFL.
So are we talking EPA? Are we talking when what measurement are we talking? Is the broadest, the broad defensive power rankings when this is all said in the what's your favorite measurement? You really want to know? I do. You really want, you really want to know? No, say the Nc. Say what? What? Oh, come on. You're not going to out freak this freak. Okay. So what's your favorite measurement? No, no, no. I know. I know. I guess what's two, let's do EPA. So when I bring up the most and talking positively about the Browns defense, I guess we have to go with, so is that the, is it, are we doing top 10 defensive EPA next year? I think as much as I don't like EPA when it comes to the offensive side of the ball, I think defensively for this conversation, I think it more than applies. And really it's individual stuff with EPA, but we don't have to go down that road. I feel like them existing in the top 10 that there's a, yeah, that's, I don't think that I'm, that's not the expectation I even have for them. So it's not even like will the offense get to be out of the top 10 or will the defense fall out of the top 10? My expectation is for the defense to already be 10 to 15 in defense of EPA when it's all side of done.
216, 474, 0092. That's all the way. Not a wild insult to the defense. If you're a top 10 defense EPA, that's still an impressive thing. I feel wildly insulted. I know. I don't know why you're looking at it in that sort of way. If you have a, even a middle of the road defense is a still a very formidable defense and one that you can do a lot with. And what about scoring defense? Scoring defense again can be, can be, can be different because as evidence, but I want to see if I can change your result here. That's what I'm saying. Scoring defense, scoring offense. That's more likely the Browns fall out of the top 10 of scoring defenses or the Browns offense. They already were outside of the top 10 and scoring defenses last year. So I'm standing there getting back to the top 10. I know I don't, I don't get it. I don't get it. I'm being difficult. I'm being difficult. Not really. I just didn't understand it. Vote. Atnik Wilson says defensive step back or an offensive step forward. What is more likely? Keith Futeck, college football news will talk pressure on Ohio State and Texas coming up in five minutes on 92-3. The fan.
Football talk, upper John, the fan presented by Exfintedys, score the most reliable Wi-Fi. One price, five years guaranteed, Exfintedys, imagine that. Niggin JP back on the fan. We got the lead coming up in about 40 minutes time. Lockin in. JP and I agree on Browns wins and losses. Not the overall record individual games coming up at six o'clock tonight. By the way, Daryl had the most Daryl tweet about the Shedore jersey thing ever. What is that? If you're just joining us, Fanatics had a good deal of Shedore jerseys marked down to clearance at $3,999. And then the story got out and they realized they might be breaking news that Shedore might be a short time or a Cleveland. And they immediately flipped them back to regular prices. Yeah, that's why they did that. Daryl saying everyone can relax. That's the least relaxed person I know is saying everyone can relax. Shedore Sanders jerseys are off the 70% clearance and back to normal price at the Browns
online team store. People could have gotten a hook up, but a discount like that went viral and ruined it for everyone. It ruined it? That's what Daryl saying. Daryl, yeah. It didn't ruin it. I would ruin it. No, ruined it. Yeah, because people couldn't be as if people didn't talk about it online. It was just going to exist forever. Yeah. As if more people come on, Daryl. Is that for an hour or 15? If you didn't take advantage of it, that's on you at right or wrong FAN. By the way, if you want to follow that delightful, has anybody figured out how many I purchased? Seven. 32. Mm. Our 12. Yeah. Throwback. Yeah. Throwback. We got Ohio State Texas this weekend. We had a very nice Daryl and Mensa performance for Miami. We got a lot of college football to talk here. And so we had out the Wyne Sharp right. We make it right. Call, Kyle Wright, Hotline Pete Futech at College Football News now. Joining us Pete, welcome back to the show. There's a man who walks around my neighborhood. You know, older man. It's been about, God, that's been a 15, 20 years or so.
You know what I mean? That all quite there. But okay, this is a nice old man who wears a Cleveland Browns. Andre Ryzen jersey. What's that? What would that so for compared to the Shadour jersey? Browns jersey. That's a real one. That wasn't that one wasn't set on fire by by left eye. That's a it made it. Yeah, it made it so hot out there. But yeah, you know, Shadour, that's kind of all right. Good. Yeah, there's the last stuff happening in your world here. It's a lot of football. A lot of football you think happens this week. You usually do be like that, Pete. All right. I know how state Texas this weekend, who's got more pressure on them going into this game. Archmaning or Julian Sain. Oh, by 100,000 times it says Archmaning because it's a home game. This is they they're owned to in the big giant games against grind and Ohio State at this point. And they've only played five times and all five of them were hugely meaningful. There was the bench young performance and the win over Ohio State.
A great bowl game in there in the mix. I mean, these are, you know, Ohio State, Troy Smith set the cone for a season with the win and go to the longhorn three. These have been awesome. And of course, you know, the semi final game in last year. You know, if Texas plays Ohio instead of Ohio State, it's in the college football playoff and Miami isn't. You know, so these this is as bad as massive as it gets. But you look at the schedule ahead for Texas if they don't win at home against Ohio State. This is another nine and three year that they're probably not going to make the college football playoff. If Ohio State loses, okay, fine. Texas on the road. Still have to go to Indiana. Still some nightmare games ahead. So much tougher schedule than last year. But they're probably not losing two more games. And for Arch, again, this is your you're at home. You're supposed to win this game and that's the show up and play well. How do you think he looked? Obviously, it's tough.
It's against Texas state. It is what it is. But the interception, I thought was pretty awful. And actually, there's parts of the first quarter where I was a little like, oh, Arch, I don't know that I love this. What was your perception of how he played in in week one, at least? Exactly. Week one. Fine. You know, you can't really get, you know, too much into the weeds about a throw here or a play there. He was great at the end of last season. He progressed. People stopped paying attention to Texas for the most part, but he really did get better. And I still think he gets a bum wrap because what everyone, you know, he just got cemented in everyone's mind, that opening game of last year. Yeah. Sorry, your first game really is a full-time starter. Goes against the best defense in college football, which gave up nothing pretty much all year long. I mean, it's not his fall. Ohio State's defense was awesome last year. And yet all the time he came out of Arch's, you know, this guy is overrated blah, blah, blah. Well, so was everyone else who played against Ohio State's defense last year. This one, let's see if the defense can show up again for Ohio State and make Arch look
bad. But if you want to talk about count wise, I've been preaching all year that Ohio State offense is unfairly counted at the skill spots. Well, so is Texas. I mean, Ken Coleman's going to be a top 10, maybe top five pick. And it would not be insane. I don't think it's happening, but would not be completely wacky. If he was the first receiver taken off the board, I'm going to be Jeremiah Smith, of course, but it's not crazy. Now, I would smother as an NFL caliber running back in Arch's prime, the number one overall pick. So they've got everything there and they're in Texas. All the pressure is on Texas in this to win this. All right, Pete, I'm not a big believer in Steve Sarkeesian. And every year he gets a fair amount of love, despite Texas being pretty okay. Most times, be look at him. Steve Sarkeesian, Dan Laning, Lane Kiff and Mario Crystal Ball. There's probably another four or five guys behind him that belong in this. But, you know, Ryan Day was that guy for a long time.
The people said, good coach, great job. Can't win the big game. Can't win the natty. Who is the next coach that deserves the most deserving coach of guy that can't win at all that actually ends up winning it all? First of all, let me take Kiff and out of there. He is the coach, but he hasn't had the program. I mean, remember, USC, they were under the Reggie Bush coma penalty stuff where they really couldn't recruit. They weren't eligible for anything in one year at Tennessee. The guy took Florida Atlantic to two 11 win seasons and Ole Miss is basically Vanderbilt on steroids as a program. That's not a superpower level program. He's getting his chance now. This is when I think the lane, there's partly it thinks is why the SEC's lost its mind because they realize that basically they have Nick Saban going to Alabama here that he is that good and he is bound by nothing in terms of resources. That's why I take him out of that pressure mix.
Crystal Ball, yeah, I do a certain accept. He got them there last year. Dan landing, it's weird with him because I am waiting to see that time when we were watching Oregon and he doesn't have to fire up his team. It is for some reason. Remember, Oregon has not lost to a team that wasn't in or won a national championship in the last four years. Every team was washing twice a couple years ago or out of state or last year losing to Indiana. This team doesn't lose to anyone but national title teams but yet they always seem to under well and they need to be motivated to come out in the second half. But yes, they are key to him. The thing about him is, look, he brought Texas back. Remember just how bad Texas was for so long. I have a moment or two here and there in the post-Mac Brown era. I am totally blanking on the guy named Luther Coch who was there who was good for a little bit. Charlie Strong? No, he was good for a year.
But God, there is one other guy I am totally glad I was embarrassing. But yes, anyway, he was a coach there for like 10 years. Tom Herrmann. Thank you. Oh, Herman. Yes. And he was good for a while but then not. He brought the program. Remember a Benzo? Just ask him. I will tell you. I am certainly not. It is a super power status. But the problem with Sarkeesian continues to be, wait long enough and he is going to blow it. Like you can still, I will never get over the second worst play call in the history of football next to the Seahawks throwing it on first and going from the one with Marcia on the back there, second and go whatever it is against the page. Second worst play call running wide on that Ohio State defense in the semifinal. That is all you had to do with push push, archmaning four times from the one and let us see what happened. And he always just get too cute. The game plan against Washington and the other semifinal, the year before.
I don't know. Maybe you should throw the ball against the defense. They can't do anything. They didn't figure that out until five minutes to go. He is obviously a great coach. Obviously a great recruiter. In fact, this is obviously great. But there is always that one moment where the Bobby Night Live classic lineup, I was worried his team was better than us. I looked down the other side and there was zero brown coaching at the other end and I knew everything was going to be okay. Kind of that way with Sarkeesian here. Pete, last year I really didn't expect it to be a 14-7 game. Sayon's numbers. He just wasn't very impressive. I thought Elastic kind of protected him. 13 to 20, 126. He didn't really push the ball down the field. In Arch's name, I was just very disappointing in general. Tell me how you think this game is actually going to go. Is it going to be low scoring or the two quarterbacks have evolved enough now where we might get a little bit more of a shootout. Defenses are obviously very different for both sides. Elastic turning over a lot of guys last year to this year. Yeah, same pale apologies here for, you know, for Matt, saying this for Matt.
Texas defense was the truth too. I mean, they had some NFL dudes on that side. So you're talking about, yeah, great quarterbacks, but these defenses are both elite. The thing that I'm waiting to kind of see on this one is, all right, are you going to go full throttle here, Ohio State? And we saw it for that moment against ball state when it was at 99 yards to go, yeah, okay, ball state. The first two runs don't go anywhere and then bam, saying it's that throw to get the amount of a jam. And then oh, yeah, look just one to Jeremiah Smith who's totally covered for a 48 yard touchdown. It was like that was just frighteningly effective. The offensive line needs to be a little better than it was against ball state, that's a little nitpicking. I don't think we're going to see any sort of a shootout. I'll be shocked. I think that both teams are going to play a little bit not to screw up or lie on the defense field position blah, blah, blah. But at some point in the game, these quarterbacks have to be turned loose. When we saw it a little bit in that opener last year where you could tell archmaning was
just coach, don't screw this up and we have a shot. And they did. They had the ball in their hands and then all of a sudden the last driver of the game, what happened? It said go out there and let's, you know, chuck it and bleep it. And he just with a quarterback and you saw what he could do. He looked pretty good on that final drive when he kept, we could stop thinking and just rear back and fire. I'm hoping we see that. I'm hoping we see these two quarterbacks get turned loose and these coaches play not to lose. All right, Pete. It banner week for Bill Belichack and Davo Swini despite the fact that Bill Belichack has a chance to start the season three and oh, I do want to know who do you think has a better chance of being an in season firing? Belichack or Davo? Oh, Belichack is fine now. I mean, look, he's seen this BTCU. I mean, that was a master class performance by the guy. Bill, if Belichack showed that he's probably the greatest defensive coaching mind ever in that game, let's see what happens going forward.
Let's see if North Carolina can keep this up. The program might be a mess overall, but for at least right now, they're all right. I don't think Davo's getting fired. Look, you know, it was ugly, but I like I keep I think we're, the world is not quite getting what we're about to see with LSU like settle in. As long as LSU doesn't get kicked out of the SEC, which is not and you know, Kiffin doesn't implode, this LSU thing is going to be a problem for pretty much the rest of our natural football lives here. I mean, this LSU is just that much better than just about everyone else other than the top teams. I think this is a case of bad game for Clemson, bad look, bill or good team. I think that was more about LSU just being awesome, but yeah, it's not a good look if you're if you're Davo and you're Clemson and you're not that far removed from being the superpower, superpower and you have the worst game of in your long story career against against the Tigers like that.
Is this the last week we see Bryce under what at Michigan is their quarterback? You know what, here's we're about to see. I can't wait to see this because there's a part of me think that all right, Michigan had the weird week one. And also, Western Michigan's pretty good. That might we have a quirky game coming up in a couple weeks where Boise State comes to Kalamazoo. That might be a playoff game. That might be the game for the group of six conference champion because Western Michigan is a nasty mac game. That's it. You're Michigan. You're supposed to win that game, all that kind of stuff. There is a weird part of me that thinks that Michigan's about to show up against Oklahoma and like, okay, that's what we're talking about. And I had this that's really crazy thought that you know what, either Bryce under what's going to get benched or else he rocks against Oklahoma and this kicks him off and you know weird way could that play have been his Heisman moment?
Like no, of course he's going to look awful the rest of the way. But if he kicks it in, that's the moment that everyone's going to remember. But we're going to see if they get rocked by Oklahoma and under what looks awful and if Oklahoma defense is that good, then yeah, you got to do something to move that offense because he looked absolutely lost against Western Michigan. I.P., we got 15 seconds. Who you pick and Ohio State Texas? Ohio State. Ohio State will win. Our same thing. Our choice of ball in his hands with a shot to win and the Ohio State defense will come through. I.P., we appreciate you buddy. Great stuff. Thank you, B. Pete Futes at College football news on the Wise Heart right. We make it right call Kyle right hotline. Great stuff. Then we'll react to his thoughts on Ohio State Michigan. Ohio State Michigan Ohio State Texas in five minutes on 92-3. The fan.
I.P. Texas is bound as massive as it gets, but you look at the schedule ahead for Texas. If they don't win at home against Ohio State, this is another nine and three year that they're probably not going to make the college football playoff. If Ohio State loses, okay, fine. Texas is on the road. It's tough to go to Indiana, some nightmare games ahead as a much tougher schedule than last year, but they're probably not losing two more games. And for arch, again, this is your your at home. You're supposed to win this game and let's see him show up and play well. Pete Futes act there. College football news talking about the pressure being solely on arch manning. And I think I think he's right. What's interesting is the manning family has done what I can only say is a tremendous job of shielding arch from a lot of the nonsense that should come with being, you know, the generational sigh on the air to the manning quarterback thrown. I don't think you can, I don't think you can shield him from this kind of pressure there.
I did this game is so crucial to how people think about him because this really kind of has to be the year. I know there's this thought that arch could go back for a third year started quarterback in Texas. And I think it is possible. I don't think it's likely, but it is possible. The problem is I think if arch doesn't take command of Texas this year, I think he's going to really have to get over the hump of people's perception in the 2028 draft. Yeah. I mean, he's not going to end up like Quinn. You were or anything like that, but, but it'll always kind of persist that idea of like you have to win yet to win the big game. That's on Sark and it's on Arch now. And so, yeah, I think there's a bunch of pressure. I mean, Ohio State can lose this game and people are still going to have national title aspirations for Ohio State. You're soon going to talk about them as one of the best teams in college football and life will move on if arch woosh is this one. This could stay with him for a while. I just know, no one how how connected that family is and how it seems like they've got a great structure to help each other go through a lot of this stuff. I still have no, I understand why they landed on Texas from the standpoint of that is a blue
blood program. The Sark stuff is the part that I just don't get. There's still a lot of confidence in Sark. I mean, Sark was, he flamed out at USC. He was fine at Washington, but fine is as good as a God at Washington. He's had one season where it looked like they were going to do something significant in Texas. And that was about three years ago now. And so I just I, I'm just flabbergasted by it because they're so smart, but like even like Peyton stumping for Adam Gase and Adam Gase just becoming the biggest weirdo non factor of a quarter of a head coach ever. Yeah. I mean, they just don't have good taste in head coaches. Maybe I'm trying to figure out if there's anything we can do directly. I mean, Peyton is historically went to four super balls with four different head coaches and obviously one, two with, you know what I mean, like that's like that's kind of his theme of his NFL career was I can do it regardless of the coach. So maybe they just don't give enough credit to the coach. I was thinking it's like the Bella check coaching tree where like Bella check was the guy that were trying to emulate and they got a bunch of non-bellochacking guys and be like,
well, maybe that Bella check guy's just a good head coach. I mean, Tom Brady's good at quarterbacking. I just think that's what it is. I think I think I think Peyton Manning likely believes I did it with everybody and anybody you threw at me. You should do it with just about anybody as well. And the coach isn't going to make or break you. You are going to make or break you and that's going to be your mentality. I know that there's college football is just different than that though. I know there's a butt ton of talent NFL talent on this field. I have no doubt in my mind that both Archmaning and Julian Sain are going to be much better quarterbacks than they were in this game last year. But the only way you can do the arrow's got to go up. There's no, I mean, I'm talking about like significantly better. Like it wouldn't surprise me if this was a quarterback showcase. So Julian Sain is what I'm interested in all this. I pointed this out before. I don't know why. Maybe this is in like deeper college football circles. I just don't know why more people aren't discussing the idea that against Texas last year, they scored 14 points against Indiana, the big 10 title game. They scored 10 and against Miami and the college football playoff. They scored 14 Julian Sain had as many interceptions as he had touchdowns at three.
A piece in those three games like I he wasn't good against the three games that matter the most last year. He was phenomenal in games that didn't matter. He's absolutely, he was awesome against teams that maybe weren't the greatest. All things considered by talking against the teams that were the elite of the elite last year in college football. The offense as a whole did not put up a lot of points. Yeah, and it's interesting. I can't remember the exact thing that he said, but Josh paid had some line about Julian Sain about doubts about Julian Sain. I think it was about like his work ethic or something like that. I haven't been able to shake those on top of the fact that like, you know, I heard enough Julian Sain's going to be one of those quarterbacks in the top five in this off season about the top five picks in next year's draft. And I was like, but he's he's six foot one and he's like 200 pounds and like, but I was the thing in the off season was him trying to put on weight, right? I'm trying to get bigger and that's why he's dating a plotty since. That's not how you do it. I don't think I don't think I don't think Pilates is.
She's helping him sculpt his body. The answer to like what's put on some muscle? Yeah, that's really let's get it. It couldn't hurt. It's good jet. It couldn't hurt. I don't think it I don't know that Pilates helps get very flexible, very flexible, very flexible. But it can help in certain places. Yeah, in certain instances. Like golf. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, and maybe like if somebody's trying to bring it down, you get a little flexibility there. Are you worried that that say in just maybe I again, this is just a concern I have, but I just don't know. I don't know that he necessarily is awesome against the great teams. And this is one of those things that he's going to have to showcase. I think you said, who do you think is less likely to show up for this game and have a big game? It would be Julian Sam. I like I just, I want I think it's Arches time. I don't expect him. I expect him to fulfill the prophecy this year. I do. And I think this game is the beginning of that. And I still just look at Julian. I'm like, he's a very average physical talent. And I haven't seen like I haven't been able to pinpoint like, oh, that's what makes him special yet.
And that's what I think this year is about. But I think that like with Arch, you can be like, pro, pro typical NFL size. He's very athletic. I he is obviously has the lineage of being a great quarterbacks from that family going back three generations now. I see it with Arch, even if I don't think we've seen it consistently with Julian, I still don't, I don't get it. I don't, I don't see it yet. Yeah. And then you know, it's funny Ryan Day all week is spent about the run game and whether nighting at the run game going, I'm so fascinated to see how this game actually plays out. You know, Ohio State turned over so much of that defense from last year to this year. It's going to give Arch more opportunities. I think I have it. Is it going to be more of a shootout? Is it going to be more of a defensive mind to game? It's just a, it's a true mystery of a game. And I'm fascinated to see what happens. 216, 474, 0092. At Nick Wilson says, at J.P. Dirtland on social media. And at Wilson says on TikTok, TikTok, that is who has more pressure on them going into this game, Archmaning or Julian Sain. I agree with Pete Futeck. I think it is March Archmaning.
I also think Archmaning is a better chance of showing up in this game than Julian Sain does based off of everything. But I'm prepared to be wrong. Julian wants to come in and throw, you know, four tuddies in 300, 300 yards. I'll, I'll leave that crow on Monday. I've never seen a quarterback that gets such high as men love, high as men hype. It gets talked about the way he does that nobody just has any expectations for Julian Sain. The lead in five minutes on 92 through the fan. In fact, I was going to, I mean, really the end result was we were going to turn Drake May into the bum slayer. Yeah. Yeah. Ridiculous though. I come in the studio and everyone's acting as if like, oh, how could you not have seen that one coming? I know how because we're not in England. I didn't think Penn didn't think he'd take bum to be any sort of. He's a loose way. I do think that's only an English term. I didn't think it. I'm sure you can use it in a lot of places, but when I think different ways to say the word ass, bum is like 37th on that list. I just think of, I think of terms like homeless people, you know, and I don't, I, bum is a derogatory term towards the homeless community for me. So I don't think that way. Yeah, I've reprogrammed my brain that I even think bum when I see a stranger. That's nice. That's where you call them. Street urchin. Yeah. See, I have very nice ways of, you know, the less fortunate as it were. I think temporarily in houses, what they're going for these days, that's kind of like the branding that, that big bum wants out there. Big bum. Yeah. That's what I call that. Yeah. Yeah. Big bum wants that. That's the branding.
That's the branding that's wanted out there. The bum slayer is baiting you in a home. More conscious new to the show. I had to explain to them. If I do the show existing in the world where I like have to consciously wonder if anything is going to be turned into an innuendo of sorts or anything sexual, I can't do the show. Do you just have to use that to power through and then let Nick when he wants to just kind of, I don't know, take it whatever direction he goes and just live with the consequences. I'm just trying to pick up whatever your plan turned just about every, at least Nick can turn just about everything into something sexual if you want to. Thank you. It's an. I have three kids. Yeah. I mean, you just can't even worry about those type of things. A dog in 1946 saying ask your boy Jonathan. Yeah. Didn't spill Jonathan right though. We spelled it with an H in there and that bugs me. Okay. If Sanders falls into the bum slayer category, he literally played nobody in college. Do you think Shadour Sanders slays Bums? No. I've never put him in that category. No, if you wanted to. No.
And the Bumslayer exclusively only beats Bums. Drake May is, this is why it's qualified for this. He's now 13 to know against team or sorry, 13 to know again, Owen 13, excuse me, against teams with a 500 or better record. Yeah. Yeah. Owen 13, win list against teams with an above 500 record. Bumslayer. Yeah, he's beat a lot of Bums. That's kind of like the whole idea of last year's Patriots team. It's like Joe Jackson. He's a battingly easy schedule. They didn't play any tough teams. Go look up with the quarterback list that they played last year. It's a lot of Bums on that list and real life. How into Bums you were Drake May beat them all. Yeah. He beat all those Bums. Yeah. He beat them all. I'm proud of you. Yes, he did. You know, I know that there's a big bum market out there. Uh-huh. And a lot of people like pay a lot of attention to Bums. Yep. I believe there's actually a segment called it. You know, like just a catchy term that people would remember. That's all. I know. No, it's a big conversation out there. And you're bringing bum awareness and that's what people love about you.
And this thing with you and Mark Hatch, I don't love developing either by the way. It's thing Mark Hatch comes in between the break and goes, oh, yeah, you know, Nick, Nick gives me a look. I get my smile back. It's like our little, it's our little thing. We're developing a fraction. I don't know that I love this. And he's going to hurt you, Mark Hatch. Okay. He's going to do it. You know, last night, I think I think he's done this. When you felt a little dejected last night as he was saying how your business was basically a square and you don't watch any of Bella danger and you don't watch any, uh, all these other people and then in the span of an hour and a half, I think you, you look feeling like you're accused of a lot of things on the air. Next time he does that, don't come cry to Jonathan. All right. Don't, don't come cry to Jonathan. Have you come cry to Jonathan at all? You made your Nick Wilson bed. You get to lie in it now. I got, I got really like to abuse the, the board off and then wonder why they're on my side. I got Jake Murlin on my team. I got this Mark Katch, Nick Wilson thing. I, yeah. Listen, I, the guy that used to close their door to the studio, the more they liked the guy that was there before. It was an imp, it was the bond existed.
The bond is saying his name. Look, if I can clarify, I'm not saying his name is in the witness protection program. He just works for 850. That's all different, different station, different people, different, I don't, I don't go down that road. If I can at least clarify a lot of, you know, my job during the day involves making eye contact with Nick. That's true. And I, and maybe it's just happened on accident and somebody on TikTok loves this, Mark, I love this budding relationship. Somebody on TikTok digs did say I have beautiful eyes. Yeah. Who was that? When you clicked in the profile, who was that person? His name is, or their name is, uh, Bane Damage. Yeah. Yeah. How do you know it was a he? Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm guessing here. Let me go back to the, uh, the, let's see, Bane Damage, Bane Damage, Bane Damage. There he is. It's Dane Bramage. Sorry. Uh, US Navy. Good. Yeah. So a veteran. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your service. Uh, Stroke survivor. We put that in the, in the, the, the headlines. Sure did. Right after US Navy veteran. All right. I'm happy he survived. He, if he didn't survive, he wouldn't give the compliment.
Living the simple life in West Virginia. Oh, you say a lot of nasty things about West Virginia. Does he know how many bad things you say about West Virginia? Probably why he likes me so much. Yeah. But I can take a compliment. I don't get weirded out by that. All right. I'm not going to think you're hitting on me. It's going to think you're speaking the truth. Out there on Twitter. You want to say I got pretty eyes. I get it. I hear it. She's like planet fitness. Judgment free zone. That is true. Does it take any compliment. Doesn't matter who it comes from, where it comes from. Doesn't matter. And built like a planet. Come on now. Because I'm wrote tonned. And I got a, I got a, I got a, I got a, I got a, I got a, I got a, I got a, a, you want to say I got pretty eyes. I get it. Yeah. I hear it. She's like planet fitness. Judgment free zone. That is true. Does it take any compliment. Doesn't matter who it comes from, where it comes from. Doesn't matter. And built like a planet. Come on now. Because I'm wrote tonned. And I got that. That being said, back to the Browns Jaguars game. Josh Heinz Allen. So the, honestly, I don't think he ever would have been Josh Heinz Allen if not for Josh Allen the quarterback, right? I mean, that's not a, like I don't think that's what he's publicly said. He has said that. Yeah.
And attention to Josh Heinz Allen's press conference. And by the way, it's the right call. There's, there's only one Josh Allen. You lost that battle. You're very, he's very good. He lost that battle. Anyway, Josh Heinz Allen's talked about, uh, I, I, it feels like we got a guarantee from him about this Browns Jaguars game. The last time you went against an offense led by Todd Monkin, it was 2023 against Baltimore. They had over 250 yards on the ground. Are you expecting that play style to translate over to Cleveland as well? It's not going to happen. They're not, I mean, that's, our motto is to stop the run. So by any means, they're not running the ball that much on us. So I expect, you know, coming out running the ball, I think, you know, his philosophy of how he sees the game. Yes, I expect that, but 200 and 30 yards, that's not happy. So respectfully. And now I would like to know, and maybe if Todd Monkin just chops off that respectfully, can, can Todd Monkin and the Browns churn this into some high quality bulletin board material?
Maybe, uh, this is honestly, it's, I think it's more of a shot at Monkin than it is anything else. But what's interesting, I mean, Monkin still gets the last laugh out of that. The game he's referencing was 2023. That was his first season as Baltimore's OC. They ran for 251 yards, but Monkin ran the ball 42 times. All he did was run the ball that game. And he basically dared Jacksonville to stop the run. We've already positive about this weekend, whether or not that would be one of the Browns formulas to trying to win this game. And if he thinks Jacksonville's week against the run based off of a game that happened three years ago, maybe it'd go back to that well. Yeah, I mean, I think the Browns, no matter who the quarterback is, but certainly if it's a game changing, sorry, game changing, a game managing Deshaun Watson, I think, I think a healthy dose of the run game makes a lot of sense. Well, but so the problem within this is that, you know, obviously, anytime you talk about the Ravens, you're like, all right, so what, what did Lamar do though? Lamar had 12 carries in that game for just under a hundred yards. Lamar was wildly effective with his run game as part of the plan with Deshaun. He's talked about using his legs and being able to use that part of this.
Is he going to try to do anything like he did with Lamar or is he just going to admit that can't happen here? No, I mean, I think that's, I actually think that's a significant part of why Todd Munkin needs to see Deshaun Watson first is he thinks he can get something out of the ground game. And it's interesting because I tend to agree with what Zach Jackson said with the Monoboy's earlier this week, actually yesterday, if you guys want to go back and listen to that, which is I don't think that Deshaun Watson has the jets he had early in his career. And honestly, I think if you watch him move in the pocket, I can't tell. Now, this is where I, this is where I'll be fair to Deshaun. I can't tell if he looks a step slower because he doesn't have pocket awareness when the pocket breaks down. He's looking for an angle to go to. And so he just has never gotten to open space to showcase his legs or whether it just doesn't have him or the injuries. He's just over took him, which is what I lean towards. Seems more plausible. Seems more likely. But Todd Munkin is seeing something that I'm not seeing in practice every day.
So I'll leave wiggle room for the idea of well, he sees him every day. Maybe he's seeing a getting up gear that I that again, I don't know it exists anymore. We should also acknowledge Jacksonville's run defense is much better. Obviously, then it was three years ago when that game happened, but it's just much better in general. One of the things that kind of thrive in. And so I'm interested to find out if your only response is going to be, well, we're going to run the ball like crazy and we're going to make sure we just win. Sean is great. The offensive line showcases what it can do. We showcase what it can do against Deshaun that you kind of playing. I so interesting. There's so there's like seven different ways you can play into Jacksonville's hands in this game. I would imagine they want to show on the throw the ball because they think Deshaun still can't throw the ball. But they feast that run defense is really, really good. They feast when teams try to run. So I think that's where the Deshaun part of this comes down and where again, I can see the hypothetical idea of all right. If you can stop or bottle up Quinshaw and Judkins and two things Deshaun can do is deliver an
on time ball to Casey concepts again at seven yards in a slant. And then Casey can do the heavy playmaking lifting. And then the other side that Deshaun has is one, two, all right, nothing here. I'm going to get 10 yards. I can understand how those could be secret weapons in this matchup given everything you've said and everything we know about the Jacksonville defense. Again, I'm skeptical that Sean can do those things, right. But I can at least understand like part of my frustration is big picture. I'm trying to figure out how Deshaun does it in this matchup. I can see what I think Todd Monk and sees. If you use pace, which is another way I think they're going to try, I think it was Nate Tyson's big on that pace is going to be huge this year for offenses. I can see that as part of that as well. Oh, we're from the NBA to the NFL pace, the conversation nobody wants to have everyone seemingly having. I feel like we're going right back to Chip Kelly's Oregon offense from like 15 years ago. Yeah. And then they'll check. But then they get how he roseman in the locker while we're at it. And then and then all of a sudden pace didn't matter and we're right circling back to pace
matters. We've been in the game for 25 million of time. The NFL is cyclical Nick. It's what goes around comes around it. All right. Great. I even doubted the defensive conversations we're having and everything. Like the quarters coverage conversation is existed in the NFL for like six years now. And people every single offseason are like they figured it out. They know how to stop these guys. No, they don't yet. You know what you have to do? You don't. Yeah, bracket coverage. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. This guy is a really good wide receiver. If you tried bracket coverage, I'm also played maddened. Yeah. Two and six four seven four double. Oh nine two. Josh Heinz Allen. I'm going to say guarantees. Well, a guarantee that they won't look like they did four years ago against Lamar Jackson. How much will Jacksonville sell out to dare to Sean to beat them more on that and the extremes in the Jacksonville game for the Browns? And what can change your mind in five minutes on 92 three? The fan. Opening week on the fan presented by hands free sketches slip ins just step in and
go. We're going to see if we can lock it in together. Coming up in about 15 minutes here. Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterland. We do have the coach show coming up at seven o'clock tonight, playing to get to. In case you missed it and the like much to get to. But you thought this question in the pre show meeting. I'm curious to get your answer because the whole point, you know, we had Lindsey Rhodes on a 320 of Sumer sports. Her whole point was there's just not a lot of known about the Browns. Even on the defense as good as it was last year. Yeah. Miles Garrett swapped out for Jared verse who we've never seen in a different context than LA and certainly Mike Routenberg is a brand new play caller. So given the unknown, what would have a bigger impact on how you think of the Browns beating Jacksonville or losing bad? It's got to be beaten Jacksonville. I know week one everyone's going to be like, well, week one is weird and games get sloppy. But you beat a team in Jacksonville that won 13 games last year. And I think there's a lot of people that believe in that game thinking to themselves.
Then all right, we should there's a lot of easier games on this schedule that we should win. But then you're in play for some of the harder games as well. All of a sudden, then Tampa Bay and week two doesn't feel like you're a Herculean effort. Yeah. I think it's just drastically different between a loss that I think a lot of people could see coming. How you win is going to matter and how Jacksonville plays in this is going to matter. But I think what's interesting is I'm in this spot of I've locked in a Jacksonville week one victory. And some of that is the unknown. Some of that is I think the Browns are I think people are acting as if all of those unknowns are going to come up bust week one. There's one unknown. I think that's going to potentially come up bust week one and it's to Sean Watson. And that I'm just genuinely excited to see everything else. But like I also think a lot of it is just Jacksonville's defense was so reliant on turnovers last year. And we've seen this the one Joe Woods defense that was good was freakish, a freakishly good at generating turnovers.
Yeah. And we saw how quickly that regresses. I know some teams can keep it up. But by the way, the Bears defense is also really good. And that always turns around. I'd have to look up what Jacksonville's numbers with turnovers were. I thought that oddly enough that was one of the things they had them, but they didn't have them at the rate where then it was such an absurd discrepancy. Barnwell's always big on this. So like the idea that you like turnover turnover margin in general typically comes back down to earth. And that is not a thing. If you have an absurd one-sided turnover margin, that's going to hit you in the face in a pretty large way. I thought Jacksonville was immune to that relative to what they did last year. In fairness, nobody's going to look as off the charts as the Bears do. Because the Bears, you compare anything to the Bears and it's going to look silly. The Bears has dominated that. But like I, I don't know, I think losing badly. Maybe it's because I think the Browns are going to be good, but like Mike, I chip, sent in earlier today. And I think chip has been trying to keep me grounded, right? He keeps telling me how down he is in this Browns team.
And I get it. I understand that it's hard for people to compartmentalize their dislike, distrust, disinterest in Dishon Watson with how they feel about the rest of the team. We've talked about that a few times. I can do that. I think you can win in spite of Dishon in the short term. Eventually, I think you're going to have to get over to Shadour or Dylan or hell, anybody dead. James Winston, if he want to trade for him, I know he just signed an extension. I'm just being facetious or hyperbolic. That's the one. Yeah, I mean, I think them losing, you have a chip has them losing 34 to 10. I would be shocked. I would be crestfallen. It would force me to, oh geez, I wouldn't be shocked. 34 to 10. It's a blowout, obviously, but yeah, I'm not going to leave the, I'm not going to leave the game being like I can't believe that just happened. If you lose 34 to 10 and Dishon Watson starts week two, I riot. I mean, a 24 point difference is obviously not the expected. No one saying that I think this is going to happen. But would I would I be more surprised by a 34 to 10 loss than I would a 34 to 10 win?
No, not at all. You win the game 34 10 against Jacksonville. I will be gobsmacked. You lose the game 34 10. I'll turn around and say I guess a lot of people are right about Jacksonville and a lot of people are right about what they think about this Browns team currently being. Two on six, four, seven, four, double, nine, two, which would surprise you more. 34 10 loss or 34 10 win? Probably the loss. Yeah. Yeah. I'd be really shocked if 5 to Sean dominated enough and the and everyone was able to put up 34 against Jacksonville and then be able to do their part. It's not crazy to think that the defense couldn't hold Jacksonville to 10 points. That part of it's not crazy. Well, and I so you're right about the Dishon part of this. I guess why I said that the that the loss would shock me more is it's just week one is kind of flukish that if you're ever going to beat this Jacksonville team 34 to 10, it would make sense that it's week one with all the unknown and having the full off season to go for it and Todd Munkin. I think I wouldn't be surprised if Todd Munkin looks at this as a chance to tell the rest
of the NFL, you know, hey, it's time to trust and Todd. I imagine that's what he's trying to do. It's just whether or not he's got the talent to be able to pull that off again. I Jacksonville. That's a top eight scoring defense and scoring offense last year. They were going to both sides of the ball. They could do it in a million different ways. I don't know that this is going to be the ascension of Trevor Lawrence that some people are projecting. It's a really good football team though. Yeah. And I think the thing with Trevor Lawrence is it feels like he's the I was he's very similar to what people perceive about Baker, which is one great year and then a step back here. Now Baker stuff revolves around injuries as well. When even Baker, though, last year could be considered a step back year. But for the first after week six, he was the front runner for Wig MVP. But like with Trevor Lawrence, I look at him and think I don't know that I trust him to be good and great in consecutive seasons. And I know, I know, honestly, I probably should trust that more because I think Liam Cohen is a good coach. I think he's a really good coach, but I think the quarterback matters. Who plays, you know, like listen, I, that's why I want to put this because I want to make
sure I give Trevor Lawrence the respect. I don't think a great coach can make up for a quarterback who's just an inconsistent human being on the field. You can, you can help him. Sure. You can give him better situations to be in. But in the end, if you're an inconsistent quarterback, you're just an inconsistent quarterback. Okay, but there also is that something we've already touched on a lot today. It feels like, but there's that environment conversation that exists for Trevor Lawrence in a way that I find interesting. They have a decent offensive line, but they have three different receivers in Parker, Washington, Brian Thomas and Jacobi Myers that, I mean, that's, that's a really, really good receiving room. Parker, Washington was incredible for the final five, six games last year. I think the problem is none of those guys have done it for a full year. I mean, Jacobi did, but I think it was about brain time. Brain Thomas, brain time is that a good, rookie year. Yeah, really good rookie year. I think that was like 12 or 1300 yards is rookie season. Like if you just say, like I do think, like, and I think Brenton strange is a little underrated, I think they have four good pass catchers, but I don't think they have guys that elevate the quarterback.
Well, and, and okay, so that would be a feather in Trevor Lawrence's cap then. Like if we're trying to figure out exactly what they are, you have us 1300 yards, 1282, his rookie season. He obviously dropped back a little bit last year, but like between the trio of it, if you're trying to take things away from Trevor Lawrence, a, is accomplishments, you would go towards the environment argument that we've been discussing and you would say it is just the three of them that are uplifting Trevor Lawrence. Cause really, we haven't seen Trevor Lawrence be this what he was last year without having that type of arsenal at his, at his disposal. Beating Jacksonville or losing badly, which would impact or have a bigger impact on your thoughts on this Brown's team. And we're going to try and lock it in. See what JP and I can agree on it for the 2026 schedule in about five minutes on 92 three of the fan. It's the six o'clock out. Come on step on a duck on afternoon drop. One hour to go. Nick Wilson, Jonathan Peterland with you. We do have in case you missed it coming up at, uh, carry the two 645 today.
And if you did miss a moment in our show, use a rewind feature on the Odyssey app powered by integrated restoration, your local experts in water, fire and storm disaster restoration, the Todd Munkins show, the coaches show coming up in one hour's time. I can admit, um, just in thinking about, I for some reason, this kind of jog my memory, the idea that Sunday is going to be Todd Munkins head coaching debut. Yeah. I got kind of excited for the, for the trust in Todd man himself. Okay. I'm happy you're excited for his debut. Yeah. Like that's, that's a really cool thing from a guy that came from a family of coaches. From a guy who, I'm sure there were doubts that he had about ever being an NFL head coach. Yeah. Who's taken this kind of discursive path to being a head coach in the NFL. I say it's a really cool story. And it's funny. I think there's a lot of cynical ways that some people look at the hiring of Todd Munkin and the Browns coaching process and the Browns. But I still, despite my disagreement with coach Munkin about Gashon Watson, not cynical
about Todd. I'm excited to see what we can do. Yeah. You know, it's interesting. I heard Todd talking about like, is he going to take a reflective time during the day and then trying to really let the, the feeling soak in and, and kind of hang out with the idea that he did achieve a lifelong dream. You know, and I, I do think there's an aspect that that's just always going to be cool. Anytime you're 60 years old, you're 40 years old, you're 20 years old, watching people achieve what they strive and work hard for something that's just always fun. But he didn't seem like he was going to take that big of a moment. And I didn't know how honest he was being in that insane that because I think it's just being incredibly hard, not, I don't know, kind of take inventory of all the people that helped you along the way. I think you just got a power down until after the game and then just not, and I think after it and then just, and after the game, you go ahead and love all the emotions. Yeah. If the game goes poorly, just we pissed about the game. You know, like if the game goes poorly, then you're not even going to be thinking about the idea that it was your first NFL games ahead coach. You're repissed about the 75 ways that it went wrong. I think you'll have time to go ahead and get, get any of those feelings out. But we're going to try something new here. I don't know if I'm going to play a little game.
We're going to do something called lock it in. And so Mark, catch hit the music. So what we're going to do is we're going to have Mark, because we have a different opinion of the Browns in their final record this year. You've got them being a six win team. I've got them as an eight win team. So we're going to have Mark, coach, tell us each of the games starting in week one, and this gave us the spread. And then we're going to see if we can agree on whether that's a Browns win or a Browns loss. If we both lock it in, I want to see how many at the end of this we both lock in. Okay, but hold on, but the rules on this though, did the spread, we're not playing against the spread, we're playing against them straight up. Okay. And also, have you already chosen your eight wins? No, I have not. That's a problem. Yeah. I think we'll find a end of maybe with more. That's a problem. Yeah, wait, I thought we were trying to hit what our season prediction is, right? Like, I don't think so. This is a thought exercise to see yourself. I already chose my six wins. It surprised myself. I chose my six wins. I thought you were choosing your eight wins. And then maybe we're doing some bartering. Maybe there's like, should I change this one here?
Should I not change this one here? Listen, bum slayer. You can do how you want to do. I'm not the bum slayer. Julian Sayon is potential with a bum slayer. If you want to slice some bum, you can slice some bum. Oh, I really drank May's the bum slayer. What cousins was the bum slayer? Drake May is now the bum slayer. Thoughts to Mrs. May. Is that what we get started? Let's go and get started there, Mark Ochoch. All right, well, I'm very pushy for your first time running a bit on this show. What if you pick like 11 wins for this team, though? Looks like I'm a better fan than you. Which is why I did just find out. No, the point is, the point is not, the point is when you and I talk about it, whether there's overlap. All right, well, I got my six. Okay. I wish you would have had your eight. Maybe I do. All right, go. All right, let's go. All right, let's go, Mark Ochoch. All right, obviously you all know week one. We've talked about it at length this week. It is Browns at the Jaguars. Jaguars favored by eight and a half points. I have this as a win. All right, I have this one as a loss. All right. We don't really need to relitigate this because we talk about this game. We'll do all so we're just not going to lock that one in. Sorry.
Let's move to week two. All right. Break two. Browns at the Bucking Ears. That is a six and a half points spread in favor of Tampa. I have this as a loss. I also have this as a loss. Our first lock it in. Come on. All right. We're walking in for a while. Mostly because I don't think there's a chance that the Browns are going to start two and on the road. I also think I think Baker may feel at home early in the season with a healthy Tampa Bay team is something we should all fear. And so yeah, I think I think this is going to be a tough game. I think it should be a close game, by the way. What's the line on it, by the way? Six and a half. Baker and Reifi. Baker at some point will get fat and happy on this contract. He won't be week two and that man lives with revenge on the mind always. And so I think he's going to have an awesome game and I'm worried about it. I don't think we'll be able to match it. I know quarterback. So we say things like, you know, you know, it's hey, listen, love you. But you know, it's not me versus the other quarterback. I guarantee you in Baker's mind, it is Baker versus the other quarterback.
Have you told Browns fans which one would they, if they're going to get one win out of the two, that's Tampa Bay not even close? I'd rather a week one win. I just disagree firmly. I think there's enough for people, a Baker detractors or they just don't want to lose to Baker. I don't want to lose to Baker. And it's all it's rubbing it in if Baker's the one that wins. And they'd much rather choose a week two win against Tampa than a week one winning against that. Next up, Mark Koch. Hey, week three, the home opener Browns hosting the Carolina Panthers. Panthers are favored in this one. It's slim though, only one and a half. Browns win this one. Yeah, I went back and forth on this one. This is one that I really wanted to give the Browns a win. I didn't want the season to start. I'm going three. I still think to Sean, he'll be the quarterback at this point though. Carolina is not the greatest team in the world, but they're good enough. And I think Carolina gets the win. Okay. I wish we had the set, Trombone for everything in life. It was really sad. Like if every time a life would be so much bearable, every time you had some sort of a failure, there was just an audible. No, it make me want to turn around and hit whoever was doing the wall, wall, wall,
wall. No, it just be a sound effect. There wouldn't be a guy following you around with a Trombone. Oh, because a sound effect makes more sense. If I had bleep you money, a sound effect coming from the air makes more sense. If I had bleep you money, I would pay somebody to be somebody sad Trombone. Did you do the Peter Griffin? Yeah. Oh my God, that'd be a good bit. All right. Next up. Week four, Thursday night football, Browns, Lone Prime Time game of the year. They host the Pittsburgh Steelers, Steelers favored by two and a half on the road. I wanted this one for the Browns real bad. I really did. I said to myself, if you're playing eight teams that I consider to be awful, you got to win half of those. You're going to win with something in the division as well. I wanted this to be the one Thursday night football. Can't do it. So you know what I don't trust? Can't do it. I don't trust the short week. I think that's more what I'm concerned about, especially for a team that's still working through an injury at Wright Guard. I'm assuming Kevin Jenkins is just Permit injured and a team that'll be two and one. I'm feeling that the Steelers might struggle out of the gate because I think they're old
and mid. So this might be a game they need more than you too. I have no belief in the Steelers. I really don't, but I think Aaron Rodgers is going to be better than maybe what some expect. And I just can't do it. I do. I'm starting on for. I don't love it. I got to get to my six win somehow, but it's not going to be in the first four weeks. You're both taking a loss. Yeah. And by the way, I also we are. And I also have to show on Watson being the quarterback in this entire stretch too. So that also is weighing pretty heavily in some of this now, maybe after week four is maybe where he gets benched. All right. So I don't know in this hypothetical. I don't know. Yeah, you don't know. I'm not going to see a trend here. The pump's very quickly. Don't know. We're getting to six. We're not getting to 12. I'm Michael. All right. Week five on the road, Browns at the Jets, Jets, two and a half point favorites. Give me the Browns. Lock it in. Come on. Yeah, we'll take the Browns. The Jets are booty cheeks. And it is under, I think it's, I think we're talking enough about how I think the Jets are going to have a top three pick this next year. Isn't that what everyone is talking about? No, I, I mean, it's Jets dolphins, Cardinals us.
Jeremy Fowler in his very, very thoughtful idea about how the Browns could surprise people also said the Jets and it made me enraged. Yeah, I did. A diddy was going crazy for the Jets. Now she's doing the Jets game week one. So there's got to be something attached to that. But people leave strongly in the Jets and people sleeping on the idea that it's Gino, it's Garrett Wilson, it's Breeze Hall. You can understand why at least there's pieces to like. I don't necessarily think because they add Demario Davis, love Demario Davis, but I, an old Demario Davis, the defense is going to be anything to write home about. They're going to, they should be one of the worst teams in the NFL. That's where the Browns get on the board from the first six game. Week six Baltimore comes to town playing the Browns. Obviously Baltimore favored by six and a half on the road. We're going to agree on this one, right? Yeah. Yeah, we don't agree. Go to seven. I want to talk about it. Get the wrong sound. It doesn't matter. Week seven. What was that sound? That was the wrong answer. Okay. That was when you guys disagree. Week seven Browns on the road. They're at Tennessee Titans opening at two and a half point favorites.
KP. Give me the Browns. Look at that. I also have the Browns. Yeah. Yeah, I think Cam War is going to be booty cheeks again to use your phrase. I think he's going to absolutely stink up the joint. I love a Lava. I love it. There's things I like about Tennessee. I actually, it's funny because I like Robert Salah and Dave Law. I think that connection's actually got a chance to be decent. It's, Cam War is going to sink or swim this thing and I think he's going to sink it. I think Robert Salah should not have gotten a second job as a head coach. I think this is a laughable decision. Dave Law actually does give Cam War a chance. I think people have forgotten. They really lack a lot of talent. They are like, I don't even know their year two of a rebuild around Cam War. They got the quarterback first and I think they're another year at least away from being where they need to be. Yeah, I just don't think they're a particularly good team and they Cam War part of this. It just kind of scares me a little bit. I think I said a lot of it. I meant Carnell Tate, obviously. I think I said a lot. You did. I don't know why. I know why. I know why. I know why.
I don't know how I don't state receivers, but it is what it is. Next. Sorry. Week eight for the second time this year. Browns and the Steelers. This time in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's six point favorites at home. I hate this because it means you're going to go 0 and 2, but I have an L. I also have an L. We really locked it in on the same games, by the way, since I know I mean, I thought it would lock it in. They're not. Well, I started on for. But we agreed on the two losses. We agree on the on. And we've agreed on every game in the second quadrant of the season. Yeah, we know how they love these quadrants. Big quadrant, guys. All right. A lot of football people are. Week nine, Browns back off the road. We're in New Orleans against the Saints. New Orleans three and a half. My favorite. Give me the bronze. This is where I took the bronze for this one too. I have the Browns losing this game. This just feels like the random middle of the season. What are we doing game? And I don't know why I feel like it. I just as soon as I saw the game, I thought to myself, you're going to lose. Yeah, I had to give them one game that was with they're not expected to win.
There's not going to ever really be a line that happens where they are expected to win. It's a better team, but you can you can beat a team that you're not supposed to be better than a couple times a year. I think this is one of those games. All right, Michael turbo mode. All right, week 10. They're at home against the Texan's Texans for and a half. Yeah, this is now. That's a no. Yeah, this is now. All right, week 11 after a by week, Browns hosting the Raiders. Browns are favored in this one by a point and a half. Give me the bronze. This is a big win. This is a big, big, big, big boon. Yeah, give me the bronze. All right. All right. Next, Browns still at home. They played the Bengals for the first time. Bengals favored by four and a half. JP, it's now. That's a no. They're not being the Bengals once this year. So are they? Stay tuned. Stay tuned. We're getting by. I don't know. We actually agreed this is an L because it is on the road in this December, right? This is the first December game. Yes, December six. Yeah, don't love that. Don't love that one at all. Okay. All right, they're still at home. The last of four straight at home. They play Kevin Stafansky in the Falcons. Browns once again favored by a point and a half.
Yeah, give me the bronze. Give me the bronze. Yeah, yeah. Kind of like Hulk Hogan on the cocaine and they. Yeah, we're adding more to it too as we get. All right, next up, Browns back to the road. They play the Giants. Giants favored by four and a half. Give me the bronze. I think the Giants are by this time the Giants will be tanking for the next quarterback. I don't think that's a good team. I mean, maybe Jackson Darts injured by that point. Scatiboo definitely injured by that point. I'm taking Harball. I'm taking the Giants. I think they'll be competitive this year. All right. All right, Browns on the road again over Christmas this time they're in Baltimore against the Ravens. Biggest spread of the year for the Browns. Ravens favored by ten points at home. That's it. It's an L. It's an L. All right. Last home game of the year. Colts and the Browns. Browns are underdogs two and a half to the Colts. Hmm. JP, it's going to be an L. The Colts will be playing. Well, I guess technically they won't be playing for they don't have a first run pick. Give me the dub. All right.
And then finally, we gave teen Browns at the Bengals since an adi opening minus seven and a half. Give me the Browns. That's all we got. Yeah, they lose this one. It's going to be the, I mean, it's the, the Bengals will be resting everybody. They'll be resting everybody. This will not be a very competitive game, but it'll matter for the Browns and the Browns will win. They'll be playing for the division and playing for playoff seating and the Browns will be playing for like eighth place. We actually did have, I was shocked. I thought this, I thought we would actually have let one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. Eleven games we agreed upon. Now, the question is, did the bit work? Two, one, six, four, seven, four, double, oh, nine, two. That was lock it in. Then we come back. The Jose Ramirez conversation we don't care really have, but we got to have it in five minutes on ninety two, three, the fan. In case you missed it coming up in about 20 minutes here on the show, Nick and JP back
with you. The Todd Munkin show coming up at seven o'clock tonight, but it's interesting. You don't see baseball beat reporters right headlines like this often, but is, is the guardos move on to hopefully a series they can win Paul Hoynes wrote the headline that basically implies that Jose Ramirez is hurting the Guardians right now and he could be the reason they missed the playoffs. The headline was, we will compromise to Jose Ramirez cost Guardians postseason spot. And it, I, Hoynes is just not the guy to ever write that headline. You know, he might, he might not have to that might just be that. And you know, they have somebody that comes up with the headlines, but it's going off of what his commentary was in the article, right? And in the article, uh, you make a pretty damn in case all things considered. I mean, if you go through what J. Ram has a really the lack of production, he's got four RBI since August 25th. They all came in one game. And his last nine games, Nick, he's five for 36, no extra base hits, no RBI's in that
stretch. There's, there's no denying that we're playing with a less than Jose Ramirez. The question is whether or not the Guardians should still be playing a West then, Jose Ramirez. I think we've, we've talked enough about J. Ram. I think I know where you're going with this and I think we're in lockstep and that you continue to play J. Ram. Maybe though, it's not the worst idea to maybe play a little bit of a loose or schedule with J. Ram. The difference when, you know, we had, we started having this conversation about four weeks ago. And at the time, my answer was, oh, you want to see more gave Arias. Once then, Haná was come up and really started to play really well and teased a lot of potential. And Schneeman is also back. And yet my answer hasn't changed. My big rebuttal four weeks ago was, well, who are you going to play there? Yep. Nobody. You have guys now, but I don't understand. I, God bless the Guardians fans that are doing this. But to the Guardians fans that simply can't look at what Jose Ramirez is doing and playing
hurt and playing and he came back too soon. I think we know that now from the Hammett Bone injury. Yeah. And instead of saying, you're playing like garbage, get out of here. I don't know how you can't just say thank you, Jose. That guy is giving this town his absolute heart and soul and him playing through injury. This isn't about ego like it is for some guys. He's doing it because he's going out there to try and give his best every single day because that's how much he cares about this team in this town. And the idea that we've gotten to a point is a society where we're just such zero some about every single thing on this planet that we can't just say thank you, Jose. I again, I think it's a vocal minority of Guardians fans, but it drives me up the stink and wall. Well, it's interesting about this is that I think in most situations, if the Guardians had to play off spot locked up, you can make an argument be like, all right, sit them for two or three weeks and just see if it helps at all. And I'll see if then you get them to the post season and then you can, you can really
go, but the Guardians Guardians aren't locked in for the post season. You know, like this next three, three weeks to side your everything as far as the season is concerned. And so it really does become a real tug and pull. What's interesting is how they're very cautious with the water and rightfully so I would imagine that means that with J. Ram, J. Ram is the one telling them that I want to be out of the field. I would imagine they would be cautious with J. Ram. If J. Ram was instructing them to be cautious, he's not. And because he's not, he's earned it through the years that he's been here, he's earned the right to say, I'm ready to play and I want to play. And I think it's something you can accept. There's been this weird turn and maybe it's social media, maybe it's being readily available or having access to everyone's thoughts. So you see more, you know, a cornucopia of thoughts in sports. We used to love in sports when a guy was out there playing hurt and giving his, and playing his guts out for, for his team.
And there was an understanding of like that guy is putting it on the line. He doesn't feel well, but he's giving us everything he can. And the first time I noticed it in Cleveland that this is, this was not unanimous was Baker. And Baker in 2021 where people looked at and said, no, you're hurting the team, get off the field. And I looked at it. And again, I was in Charlotte, but I looked at and saying that guy looks like he barely move is restricted because of that brace. And he's out there every week, running around, taking shots, holding onto the ball too long. I love that from players in Jose to me. They're like the Baker thing I understood because he is, he's Baker. And he was a lightning rod for a lot of people. I thought Jose was safe, safe harbor. No, so here's the, I think the difference here though. And this is where I'll give Guardians fans a lot of credit. I think when watching these games, I think you're seeing something out of Jose that you typically don't see, which is, and this was evident, Hoynes pointed this out in his article. You watch that game last night and you saw the, you saw the error at third base that happened and J. Ram hung his head after the game or after the, the error, you know, and obviously
a home run happened, you know, next that bat and that is what that is. But like we don't see J. Ram do that. That's not how J. Ram operates. He's always happy. He makes a bad play. He's not one to put his head down and kind of really, I don't know, a pound about it. And so like I think there's a, there's a frustration that is obvious that is built up within J. Ram because he's not performing. And so where I look at this is I almost feel like these are the Guardians fans that are trying to almost protect J. Ram and being like, we're seeing the struggles. We're seeing how this is going. We're seeing you acting in an uncharacteristic way. Like maybe, maybe we need to recognize that this is a lot, this is hurting you more than it is anything else. And everybody has different, different reads and we're probably not looking to the same tweets and the same whatever. There's a crocodile tears to me and not from Hosey. I mean, from people being like, do it for Hosey. I want to make the playoffs in the worst way this year. I shouldn't even say that. I want to, I want to make the playoffs really bad this year because who knows in a really down year in the American league, you might be able to win a playoff series. And I think that'd be a massive win for a team that has been 500 most of the year.
And it's played some really dog butt baseball in a couple really bad stretches this year. I want to do with Hosey. And you know, it's funny. Like my reaction to Hosey hanging his head the other night was like, that's my third basement. Like that's my guy. That guy is really struggling out there and he's putting his heart on the line. I just don't think that makes me proud. I know, but it's so different than typical Hosey. That I think is the, what stood out in that moment is you don't, we typically don't see him do that. You realize how hard it is. I'm not saying you. You know how you watch a lot of sports and you understand the psychological part of this, but like watching somebody who is that guy have him, like he's, he's a little beaten down right now. And I listen, I think that's, I think that's what a lot of people are sensing right now. Not only are you seeing it with these at bats, these at bats are, I mean, the power is absolutely gone. And he's not coming. You're leaving a lot of men on base when you're betting in the two spot or the three spot, it's been the three spot in the stretch and just and just not getting the job done the way that he has. Listen, if this thing's going to come down to one game, which it likely is, if that one game is a game that Jose loses you, I'm comfortable not being in the playoffs.
If this was the, if this was the, the guardians have to have by the way and that's the mentality I think they should have. Is that it like J. Ram? He means so much to this organization that if he's struggling through this, you just got to, you got to bear it out with them. And if the idea is that you missed the postseason, well, you're not, you're not fighting for this postseason more than anything. You're fighting for years beyond. And part of why J. Ram took the discount that he did and is saved with Cleveland the way he does for so long is because he trusted this organization is when he says I'm ready to play, they're going to play him and they're not going to jerk him around. Jose Ramirez to me is the, is one of the rare things that we ever get in sports. I think Baker would have eventually gotten there by the way with enough success. I think, I think Joe Thomas got to this level in spite of a lack of team success when he played here. There's very few athletes you'll ever hear me say, I think are untouchable, meaning if Jose Ramirez wants to drag himself out there at third base and he makes errors and he hits a buck 90 for the rest of the way. And he is part of why you don't make the playoffs.
I'm sorry. I'm simply going to look Jose Ramirez in the face and say, thank you because I can't imagine for a guy who is this happy, you mentioned. I don't know how to say thank you, but I just accept it. I don't know when you feel like crap. Maybe, well, maybe maybe a succulent. I know you love them. I do love the succulent. I do go so far in the conversation. I'm not going to be like, thanks for not me. Thanks for giving an attempt. I probably would have been like, well, all right, you battled. I appreciate it against the battle part of this. But I, I mean, it's such a tough spot for everybody involved. Jerem clearly wants to play. That's why he's out there. But he is a clearly different ball player and has been for a month now. And that's not even debated. I won't even debate it. You're right. By the way, it's not debatable. Jose is not playing good baseball right now. But if Jose, if Jose wants to go out there and support his teammates, because I don't think it's just about, Jose wants to go in and he wants to find it. Like I'm sure that's a part of this now. He wants to prove to himself that he can do this. I'm sure that is. Jose is out there because he wants to be there for his teammates.
And I think he wants to be, you know, he takes, I think this is a guy who buys into being the face of the franchise. That's why he signed two contracts here. And I know this is, I never say this about anyone, but I take immense pride in watching that guy fight those demons every day. And I will hope until the last possible second this year that he puts it together. I will. If it's just one, four for four game that puts you over the hump to get you into the playoffs in game 162. I'm hope, I'm going to hope that until he either asks out, they either sit him down or he actually has that game or the season. It's odd though. I mean, even like he's not, he's not stealing bases the way that he typically does, which the handmade bone should not have affected. He's also, I got even like the error we had yesterday in that game. I mean, I understand one of the crimes of J. Ram's career is he hasn't won a gold glove oddly enough, but he's a very good defensive third baseman. And that's taking a lapse. And then I can't even begin to describe how bad he's been offensively. And so I'm with you. I give him, I, you just, you ride the pony that got you here and J. Ram did that for so
many years. That is what that is. It's, it's pretty painful to watch. It's very evident that he is not, he's just not the same player with this injury. 216, 474, 0092. And Nick Wilson says, at J. Peterlin on social media, do you want to bench Jose Ramirez? I have stopped myself multiple times from respect. I try not to respond to somebody has a sports opinion that is a negative one. And then I react to it because you will only have between 140 and 280 characters. And also like, I like to use social media and I have fun. I want to bring back fun Twitter, right? That's great. It's gone, I think. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'd like to eradicate a fair amount of Twitter, but I'd like to just keep the fun. I missed the fun. That was what a lot of us got on Twitter for us to have fun talking about sports. The biggest test has been people dogging Jose in a way that, that it feels like they're attacking Jose. It hasn't come from Twitter. I mean, this was, this is the beat reporter, the guy that's covered his entire career
asking this question. This is Paul Hoynes. His, his, that I think is a fair way of saying it, but I think there've been, again, a vocal minority saying that Jose is being selfish or that Jose is washed or this, that and the other. And I just, I think you speak a lot about, well, Jose has been the most loyal Cleveland baseball player of the last 50 years. And it's not close. 90% of the great players that have come through 99% haven't signed a contract extension. One, let alone sign in two here and certainly taking hometown discounts. I don't think I'll ever forget that about Jose Ramirez. And I think some people, I think a very few people have don't, I must have to leave. In case you missed it in five minutes on 92, three, the fan.
