1:00We love the month of March. There's a lot of hope in the month of March. There's spring training. Your team and hockey or basketball. College basketball can make a run. March madness coming up. Spring training. We're ready to go. There's golf. The master is coming up soon. A lot of fun. March. I was supposed to snow in Connecticut tomorrow though. I remember going to an opening day game at Riggly. And it's one of the coldest games. And it was in April. And I remember my beer. So you get a beer. Which I don't know why I got a beer. But I got a beer. It had ice in it. After like I'd taken a couple of sips, put it down. I remember taking a sip and I go they put ice in my beer. Real. I didn't realize it was so damn cold. I had ice. That was just there because of the elements there. Opening day baseball just around the corner.

Back from the combine. Get his thoughts on the. Movers and shakers there. And it happens every single year. Every year. And it's going to happen in the draft. Where somebody saw something at the combine. And maybe change their opinion.

3:02Or elevated their opinion. Or maybe lowered their opinion. All I care about is. What did you do on Saturdays? Sunday. Nobody's blocking. Nobody's tackling. Okay. You get to jump. You get to run. You get to throw. Lift weights. Interviews. Medicals. I get all of that. Now, if something happened with your medicals. I understand why you would fall. But the 40 yard dash. I'm not that interested in. How many times you can lift 225 pounds. I'm not interested in. Now, there's the cone drills. There's certain drills for receivers that I'm very interested in. But I think we get caught up. Because there's nothing going on. And it's like, okay, it's kind of football. And then you're going to see these guys on draft night. And you're going to go, and I remember him at the combine. Every year, there's one or two guys that elevate their status. And all of a sudden they change draft boards.

4:02Anthony Richardson. Oh, my gosh. Now, when I watched him, there were times when I went, man. And then other times I go, man. And now the cults have said to him, you can work on a trade if you want to. Kind of signals you've moved on from Anthony Richardson. Yes, he. Yeah, I think the combine is important for some positions. It's much more important for some positions than others. I think if you're looking at edge rushers in particular, if you're looking at how explosive they are, those are all numbers. The 40 time might not necessarily be the most important. How many times are they going to run 40 yards? But you're just getting a glimpse at how many times are they going to have to use their vertical like that, probably not many, but you're just getting an idea of how athletic they really are. And that's something that I think is pretty important if you play that position. Yeah, we'll talk to Lewis Riddick about that. That there are certain positions with certain drills where you go. Okay. Now, a vertical for an edge rusher?

5:02Yeah. Yeah. I'm okay with that. Because you're going to be jumping up, knocking down passes. Maybe you use that person to block field goals. I think there are elements of these skills that you can use on Sunday. 40 yard dash, not as interested. But I am interested in what's your time for the first 10 yards of that? Because that's football, the first five yards of that. Yes, Eden. Yeah, like this kid, David Bailey from Texas Tech. Yeah. Right. He made himself some money. Oh my gosh. He's 63-250. His times, if you look at the way all of his measurements broke down, he's faster than Antonio Cromardi. Quicker than Devonte Adams jumps higher than AJ Green. And he's more explosive than Adrian Peterson and heavier than Vaughn Miller. Okay. Those are crazy numbers. But I want to know what he did in college. Because Shamar Stewart of Texas A&M, we went to the Bengals with the 15th pick. He had great numbers, but he had four sacks in college.

6:04And he's an edge rusher. That would concern me. When you see somebody has all that talent and you go, well, what are you doing in college? And then you'd go, oh, that's where I would use the numbers against that player. But I guarantee you, there'll be a couple of players who are selected higher than they should be. Now, once Scott already told me he had 19 first round grades. So we know that there are more than 19 picks in the first round. So there are going to be check and see. It's confirmed. Okay. There's going to be 11 players taken higher than they should be. So factor that in that he had 19 first round grades. But, you know, this happens every single year. I mean, I remember Vernon Goldstein. And I'm going, that guy is going to be, he's going to be an all pro for 10 years. Who is that Justin Gilbert who was going to the Cleveland Browns? He was going to be the next deon.

7:06I mean, every single year, there's at least one guy that we go, oh, my God. I mean, today, the clowning, if you think about it, had a disappointing career. The expectations were off the chart. So, you know, by comparison, it was like, okay, you had a decent career. But it's because we just, we fall in love when you're not competing against anybody. Now, there were some throws yesterday, like Ty Simpson had, I think, a pretty good day. Carson Beck, I think, had a pretty good day. But they're just throwing the football. I want to see what you do on Saturdays. And because of that, do I want Carson Beck? Do I want Ty Simpson? Is somebody going to go all in in the first round, which they probably will for Ty Simpson? Okay, happens every single year. But that's the fun part of this. And here's another thing. At the combine, that's where you get your director of player personnel.

8:11That's where you might get your president. That's where you'll get a coach and or GM. These are guys who haven't been studying this. They've been working on their day job. Now, you're going to come in and this will happen. You had your own scouting department who spent the entire or the entire college football season. And now we get to the off season. And now the experts come in. And they're going to overrule the scouts who have spent all of this time giving grades to these players. Because somebody's going to go, man, he's fast. He can jump high. We're going to take him. And that's where your scouts will say, you know, hey, we got a second round grade on it. Well, we don't want to lose him. Now, not that they sound like that. But you don't want your front office people. I hear that unhard knocks all the time, actually. You want to lose him? Yeah. Well, it could be the giants front office.

9:14You're free to go and seek a trade, sake one. Wait, where are you going? Philadelphia. Yeah, Paulie. Going back to that player, Cete mentioned David Bailey of Texas Tech. He had everything at the combine. He broke all the records and had these great numbers. But he also had the performance during the season at Texas Tech last year. Fourteen and a half sacks. Twenty tackles for losses. Both led the United States, both led NCAA. Yeah, I'm fine with that. So he only led in the United States, not in Europe. But there's a guy who didn't, uh, didn't have three sacks at all at the combine. Yeah. But it's fun. Um, and then there's the interviewing part of this. And Johnny Mansell ace the interviewing part of this because he's such a hustler. You can't, you can get coached up to do the interviews. But then Todd McShay was, you know, the draft analyst. He, um, had this to say about the USC wide receiver. McIdeleman. He didn't do well being interviewed.

10:16The fact of the matter is, again, talking to general managers in the league. The interview process is going a lot better for the other two Tyson and, and Tate. Then it is for McIdeleman. And you know me, like, I'm a lemon guy. So that, that part's interesting, but I'm just saying there are teams out there that may have them in a bucket. And there are teams out there that I specifically talked to that appreciated what they got out of the interviews from Jordan Tyson and Carnell Tate. More than they did from the McIdeleman ones. So be that as it may. Now, lemon's a great player. He really is. I think he's undersized, but I think, you know, at USC, he was great. And Mel Kiper loves him. Mel Kiper is like that guy plays football. But the interviewing process, and by most accounts, he kind of turned people off that he was, he was making weird eye contact. I don't know what he was doing. It almost felt like he was auditioning for a role or a documentary or I don't know what he was doing.

11:21But, you know, one guy described it is, I don't know if he's trying to seduce me. Like, I'm not sure what's going on because he just had these weird looks at people. And I don't know what that, if that matters, you know, can you play on Saturday? Can you play on Sunday? All right. You're quirky. You're a little weird. Everybody made a big deal about Cadill Blamsey paints his fingernails. I go, I couldn't care less. Are you a good teammate? Can you play? I don't care what you do. I was around Rodman all those years. And he was wearing dresses. Like the dude could play. Didn't matter. He could play. But, yeah, the interviewing process. And I'm sure Mendoza aced it. You know, Stacey Dales, she was talking about Mendoza and just said, he's your dream. He tells you everything. You know, he's a team fir. He's just, he can't wait to help the other players on Indiana at their pro days.

12:24It does matter a little bit to some of these teams. You just don't know how much it matters. That's the tricky part. But that's where you get the new set of eyes coming in. And then they're going to Bigfoot, the Scouts who spent all year looking at this. Jeremy Fowler of the mothership on the coaches who are assessing quarterbacks now in free agency. And also assessing quarterbacks in the draft. Jeremy Fowler will join us in the final hour of the program. As we always do every Monday best and worst of the weekend, what you saw that you liked. Think about ponder here for the first hour. Yeah, why don't we start positive best month of the year for sports? We do this every year. We do this every year because March is underappreciated in terms of even at number. It's probably considered the second best month for sports.

13:25And you're going to be watching a lot of basketball teams that you didn't watch at all during the regular season. I was watching Illinois State in Belmont yesterday. And I, I, you know, there was no shame. I'm like, yeah, I'm going to be watching, you know, Belmont got a 26 wins or something, something. Miami of Ohio stays undefeated. But if like Bruce Pearl, who's now an analyst, former head coach said, if Miami of Ohio doesn't win their conference tournament, they may not make the tournament with, with one loss. They wouldn't now granted strength to schedule, not pretty. It'd be like me on the bench press, but they're still undefeated. And there's something to be said for that, whether it's a novelty or not, you still undefeated. But if they would bow out like the first or second round of the Mac tournament, didn't sound like Bruce Pearl was,

14:28now he got lit up on social media. But what he's saying is they're strength of schedule is terrible. But you're still undefeated. And you got to take somebody from the Mac. Can you take two teams from the Mac? And we might be finding that out. Yeah, Paulie. Back to the poll question, can March stand alone without the benefits it gets from the month of April? Because the final four and final game are played in April. Baseball starts in April. The Masters is in April. Am I right about those? I think I have to combine March and April. Is that fair, October? How fair is that? I don't think you can. What if I gave you September, October and March and April? Nobody wants September. Forget September. Oh, I love September. The April has the NBA NHL sort of playoff push, right? The start of the baseball season. It has the Masters. And it has technically the end of what is called March madness.

15:29So I don't really think that the final four belong, the final four actually belongs to March. And you got the draft in April. The draft in April. Sorry. Yeah, I have to do a combo. Well, you're poo-pooing the start of March here. I see what Satan's saying. I'm saying that March is great. But it's not April. It's not. It's its own thing. But I think that the final four actually belongs to March, not April. Okay. Just because of March madness. Yeah, it's called March madness. I know. It's not called the April final four. How about awesome April? Yeah. I wanted to try to trademark that. You think it's so great. Hey, Todd. How's it going? Okay. Good. Just checking on you. Pacing myself. Oh, you are. Why? Why is today? I haven't had anything strong to say just yet. And I don't want to be accused of just talking just to talk and making it.

16:30Oh, so now there's more pressure on you. Yeah. Because now the audience is going, okay? All right. It's coming. Yeah. Todd's strong comments for March right around the corner. It's a buildup. It's a buildup. I love it. But I don't think there's a close second to October. Whether you, since you asked if it didn't really ask. Okay. But if I gave you April or I gave you October. I'll take October. All right. I'm taking April. October, you got the NFL going on. No, no, no. I know which. I don't even know how that's even a debate March April talked. Uber. That's what I'm trying to figure out. It's because we're debating. That's why we're debating. No, but for that to be a debate, that has to be like a really strong argument to me. There's not a close second to October. Okay. If I gave you March and April or you could take September or October. I'll take September, October, 10 out of 10 times. Okay. Without even a blink. All right. Yes, Paul. I'm Mr. October. Reggie Jackson is. Whoa. But I'm Mr. October for a number of reasons. It's a debate. April and March are heavy.

Yeah, I don't know which arm got measured, but look, I'm fine having the second longest arms here. I'm happy for you. You finally had sort of an athletic achievement here. You know, it took me the weekend to feel better after a couple of beers, maybe some tequila, couple of cigars, quarter of an inch difference, basically a push.

23:40And then I cried on my wife's shoulder. She'd had no idea what I was talking about, but yeah. You're the winner. Okay. I'm taking it. You're a champ. But I don't know. Like Todd's right arm got measured. He's left handed or left arm did. Oh, so maybe I could have surpassed you with the sole possession of the second place. You could have. I know it's a little early in the golf season to be talking about collapses. But man, what happened to Shane Lauria in the last three holes that the bear trap was brutal. And then my best, you know, every year during spring training, I like to read a baseball book to kind of get back in the mood, get ready for the season.

26:44I just read one by Paul Goldberger on the history of ball parks in cities, you know, where they used to be in the downtown, move out to the suburbs and all that. Really, really good. You just got me thinking for you guys, regardless of the team that's playing or the game, you know, what event, what venue, what baseball stadium, football stadium, basketball arena, what is like your favorite personal place that you've gone and watched a game? Oh, there's too many of those. But if you go to Boston and you go to Fenway, then you're downtown, great restaurants. You can stay downtown. That's great. Pittsburgh, that baseball park, Austin, walk across the bridge. Yes, Todd. We just saw San Francisco, which is gorgeous. Yes. The first two that came to mind was Boston and really field. But you have to get another close look at a tour of San Francisco. Wow, that's pretty amazing. Yeah. And regularly you can take the L. You can be in downtown, take the L. Drops you off. You go down the steps and you're right there having a beer. But there, I like the accessibility in a city where I don't have to drive.

27:47That, that to me, you know, when you go to Fenway, you're, you know, a couple of blocks away from restaurants and a hotel and you're right there. Yeah, Polly. The first time I went to Camden Yards for the Orioles, it matched up to what it looked like on TV. All the colors blend. It just, whoever put that together did it exactly right. And you got the warehouse out there. And it just, those are the ballpark. I know taking them out into the suburbs. Oh, I'm not big on that. I like when a city, it helps the inner city. It helped, like Cleveland. You know, Cleveland did a great job with ball parks, rock and roll hall of fame. Now the Browns are going to be moving out into the suburbs. Just saw this on Twitter. T. W. I liked Fernando Mendoza's answer during an interview at the Combine scene. It didn't matter to him if he was picked at number one, which would be by Tom Brady's Raiders, or at number one, 99, which just happens to be the pick that Tom Brady was selected at. And my best, the Cowboys, the restructuring some contracts, including CD-Labs and Dax. That'll save him roughly about 66 million on the cap, and Jerry knows the window is closing, and last off season, Jerry just said that the Cowboys are going for it. This off season, they may really be going for it. And a worst Friday night, Lou Dort, earning his legal aid reputation as the NBA's dirtiest player, with a real cheap shot on one of the faces of the NBA, the Joker. Yeah, Commissioner Adam Silver can't be pleased. Everybody comes down hard on him. And you saw Joker get up in his face. And it's one thing to be a pest, a cheap shot artist,

29:49but all I know is with Joker comes his brothers. And I would really, really watch my steps. If you're going to do something to Joker, the Commissioner would like to talk to you. You just don't want the brothers to talk to you, because they're bringing some noise. And by the way, you know, Joker is the smallest of the brothers, when you think of those guys, they're right out of WWE. By the way, Shane Lowry hit the ball in the water a couple of times, and he had the tournament, and all of a sudden, he's hitting shots that I go, I can do that. I can do that. So it's not very often when you see a pro hit a shot where you go, I could do that if not better. Yes, see. Is there any game that you can fall apart faster than golf? Then golf. Well, I guess because it's singular, there's no teammates to help you or no time out to take,

30:51or I can't hide on the bench. It's like, I just put it in the water, and now I got to retie. And it's the same water staring right in the face. You can see exactly the trajectory that your ball took to go right in the water. It's like the more you think about, like, don't hit those people over there, the ball goes flying right at those people. And you're always going to go, so let's say water right, you're going to go so far left, and now you're in trouble. Yeah, Paul. The no time out thing is really interesting in golf. You can't walk over and speak to your golf coach, your swing coach, who's 100 yards away at best. That's really wild. You can't get a hug. I'm going to take a 30 second real quick. Dream on on the sidelines this weekend. Dream on was having a meltdown. It was honestly, it was kind of funny. And then just watching LeBron. I'm just over this iteration. I've said this before on the show of the Lakers. And he's just on a dysfunctional Lakers team. It's just not good. And the salary set of the day I found. The top five quarterbacks of all time terms of salary. They have a combined 10 Super Bowls. Can you guys name them without Googling it, Holly? How many quarterbacks? The top five of all time career salary earnings.

32:55I'm guessing that they're all, we're mostly modern day. So Brady, Peyton. I'm going to give you number five Russell Wilson. Number four Tom Brady. Number three Kirk D. Cousins, which is what Tommy Anders was last week. And Aaron Rogers and Matt Safford. Number one, baby. Happy Monday, boy. Oh, thank you, Buddha. So Peyton Manning wasn't in the top five. Salary. Buddha. Oh, he was not. Wow. Okay. Thank you, Buddha. How about Kirk Cousins? And he's going to get paid again. There's so much chatter at the combine. Because you get everybody there. 42:07Disaster averted. We have some smoke in here. We add a little bit of a fire. And the big German came to the rescue. But then he's a certified firefighter. So Eric is, you know, EMS as well. He was, now he said, do you need mouth to mouth? And I said, I do not. He goes, okay. He still gave it to you. He has to do that all the time anyway. I like to do it because it smells smoke. But, okay. So I have this candle and all light incense in the morning. Just kind of set the mood for the show. And I forgot to blow out the incense when I lit it. And there were a lot of pieces of previous incense sticks in the candle. But burned down and then it lit the other stems of the incense. And then all of a sudden they got so hot it shattered the glass.

43:11And then there were flames that were probably close to a foot and a half. What a half? Yeah. According to Eric, the big German. So we're good. Now the alarms might still go off because we got a lot of smoke in there. And where there's smoke, there was fire. Yes, Paul. I did hear the big German on the phone. I think he was on with the fire department. Yes, he was asking, do they have to roll trucks or something like that? Like are they coming over? Well, we have a fire department next door. Yeah. I think they could just bring a hose over if they needed to. They don't need to. But I'm just saying it would be very disappointing if something caught fire. And we had to wait a while to get the fire department over here. Yes, Todd. Any important souvenirs, momentos, press credentials? No, no, no, no. I made sure, you know, I cleared everything out of the way. I noticed you were running outside the door. I was. That's what I do. And there's any type of emergency. We all know that I just go on the other direction and I pray for everyone's safety. But everybody was moving over here to make sure that everything was okay on my side.

44:13No, I know my limitations. It's less about worrying about other people more about like, I can't really do anything to help this situation. Yeah. Might as well go to the parking lot. Yeah. No, but I asked him to go up on the roof because we didn't get any satellite coverage. We couldn't watch anything on TV because the snow was there. He went up to hold the dish all day. Yes. He cleared off all of the snow in the satellite dishes, Todd. That's pretty heroic. Yes. I was wondering what that was allowed. Oh, so he was making noise. So you could watch TV. I was trying to come up with a poll question. I was looking at guests and I just hit these steps. Like I felt the roof was going to cave. Larry and Arkansas. Hi, Larry. What's on your mind? Hey, Dan. How are you? Good morning. Oh, I'm okay. Yeah. I'm good. Here's my question. What is fritzy would have left this candle or his incense burn in and it calls the problem? What would that reaction?
