Horizon Gold targets resource growth at Gum Creek

Horizon Gold Limited managing director Scott Williamson talked with Proactive about the latest reverse circulation drilling results from the company’s 100%-owned Gum Creek Gold Project in Western Australia, where drilling has extended several known gold ore bodies along strike. Williamson said a key result was an approximately 800-metre extension to the Howards ore body, which is expected to form part of the early years of the company’s proposed open-pit mining strategy. He explained that Howards is one of Gum Creek’s flagship assets and could contribute from the first year of mining and through the initial three to four years. The drilling program is focused on adding material to the company’s proposed 2.4 million tonnes per annum processing operation, with exploration also extending mineralisation at Heron South and Melbourne Bitter. Williamson highlighted the shallow nature of several intersections and the presence of oxide mineralisation, which he said supports simple metallurgy and processing. Horizon Gold currently has a reported mineral resource of 2.3 million ounces and is undertaking around 80,000 metres of drilling during 2026. The company is targeting an updated mineral resource estimate later in the year. Alongside RC drilling of open-pit targets, diamond drilling is testing underground potential at Swan and Kingfisher, with assays pending. Williamson also pointed to the broader exploration opportunity across an 80-kilometre greenstone belt containing 37 previously mined open pits.
