Harvest, Store & Prepare: Building Real Self-Reliance | Wednesdays with Wayne
About this episode
Preparedness doesn't begin when an emergency happens. It begins with what you're doing today.
Wayne Rankin—the Practical Prepper—returns for Wednesdays with Wayne with a look at harvest season and the everyday skills that build real self-reliance.
Wayne and Joe talk about harvesting and preserving food, storing emergency water, filtration, expanding the garden, hunting and filling the freezer, and turning harvested timber into usable lumber for future projects.
We also hear from Rosanna Rankin, who takes us into the garden to demonstrate harvesting rhubarb and explains several ways it can be preserved and used.
Underneath it all is a simple idea: preparedness isn't about panic. It's about developing skills, using what you have, and taking responsibility before you need to.

And as always, doing the very best we can to bring you the best quality talk radio we could muster without all the bluster. Welcome to Wednesday with Wayne joining me from the people's Republic of Washington state is the one and the only doctor prepper Wayne rank and hey brother, how you doing? Which category? I thought that out the people out wasn't what I mean by that man was a lot of categories I'm doing for how you're doing? How's your feet? You know, how's your feet Joe? Oh, my feet are good. I guess. Nobody's ever asked me that before. But no, for me, you're talking about a retired man. The we used to have six mile rise on a concrete. Do that. Do that per day. Oh, I'm sure it's however, my feet are horrifying.
In fact, I have a feet thing like no, my feet are terrifying little children get scared on. So I always have them covered. So I ask everybody in the world what makes you happy? You can't see your wife. You can't see your kids. What makes you happy? It will make you happy, Wayne. I can feel my feet. Okay. And this is my wife knows this. She was that poor guy at speed, you know, like I said, you know, we all have trade things. Some guys. I've said church. Do you guys over here? Yeah, we were playing racquetball at lunch. What the hell did they do? They can play racquetball at lunch. Hey, did you get my emoji? I don't know, my fingers hurt. Oh gosh. I was not expecting that. Okay. Oh man. I mean, talk about slack life. Yeah. Okay. Get some. Come back, man.
Come back. Come on. Bring it on. Let's really back in here, buddy. Really back in. So how am I doing? So good. I don't say what's new with you? What's going on in Wayne's world? No copy right in Frenchman on that one. Sorry, folks. No, no, no, no, no, that's my name. It's so Wayne's world, Wayne in world is not a copy right. We're at harvest time, Joe. A lot of things are getting harvested here on the farm. I think we put in at least 12 gallons of blackberries. Well, gallon. It's still, there's still gallon bags. You know what I get the gallon bag? I got 12 or more of those in there. I don't even know. We gave a few away. So I think we're going to be close about 15 to 20 gallon bags picked, given away, handed out, and a few more here and there and stuff. So yeah, and there's some out there. I'm going, do I have the bonjo to do it? Not right now, but maybe tomorrow. And so it's kind of harvest time. So those are the blackberries, which is considered a toxic weed in this part of the country, because they're thorns. I know some places raise thorns in those blackberries.
And they're, whatever, these are, these are incredible. This is straight nature. They're up in a mountains. And I'm talking to the flavors of unbelievable. I mean, unbelievable. So we do have jam. So we are, we're putting a box together for you. It's not the smoke either, man. It's not the most smoke. We're going to, I know what's hardest times all done. You keep saying it, but I haven't seen it yet. Joe, Joe, we're making this stuff fresh. I'm talking. She's doing, I guess what I just, you're going to love this one. We got a laundry basket. We got another one coming. I tie in plums close to your heart. Nice. You know, you know, the little purple, they're little purple plums, the jelly. Those things are great. And she's making jelly. So yeah, when you, you only eat those words, Joe, about how long it's taken. OK. So no, I'm serious. This is truly, and you will know this, a true, what is it? Kind of sewer, professional, a craftsman. And she definitely is not just a craftsman. She's gifted at the colonaries, all of the different
colonaries baking and pies and five star. She could have been executive chef any restaurant in America. Anyways, OK. She worked with the greats all over the emerald, Bobby Flay, Dean Ferry, all those guys. She's worked with those type of people. And so, but she said, oh, these are tie-in plums. We'll make some jam for them, blackberry jam. And I'm going to do a special one for you, Joe. Blackberry, blueberry, raspberry mix. Freakin' I added a little more. A lot of those words. But you don't taste them in the mixture of this. No, no, you won't. OK. You get blueberry, blackberry jam, OK? All right. Throw some cherries in there. That'd be good. Oh, yeah, you know what? Oh, no, I don't do that. You know, I do my cherries. I have a pitter. They go in the whiskey. Nice. Oh, yeah, I just, she had a sore throat. The other, there we go. Wayne's a lickser, the practical prepare-in-air man Wayne, last year's cherries, fermented in there. She likes the honey whiskey. OK.
And I don't which way. It doesn't really matter. Jim Beam, Jack Beam, D-D-D-D, Elizabeth Reguy. All of the name guys, OK? And throw the turkey in there, too. And it's the sweetness of the honey. And she's having really bad nasal problems. She's going to go in in a month and a half to literally get this thing reconstructed. Total reconstruction in her nasal, whatever, receptive thing and everything. And everybody I've talked to, it's a different world. It's a different world after you get it done. Even with allergies. And so I said, take a couple of cherries. You get a hair where she put them in. Whoa. So think of a wild, I've shared it from Washington, or as we grow cherries, fermented in it. Freakin' honey whiskey. I can't wait a minute. Any accent, the anahex that it's, Joe's got a name. I got some for you, too. But we're just going to, we're at this black tote in a yellow top. We're just going to self tie it and everything and ship it. It's going to have sponges and stuff like that. And so, you know, we can wrap the jars
and everything like that. And so you can ship, like a ship my smoked meats working on getting a smokehouse. Man, the practical prepare guy here, I'm going to tell you, I'm not going to be matched. I'm telling you, I won't be matched. I mean, you see the video coming up here. It's the video speaks a thousand words, man. What's happened in my farm? What's rocking and rolling? And what's going on? The great thing is, when I watched the video, when you first sent it over, the background ambiance. I mean, that's what, what, what, what, what, what, what? Look at this. You could almost, you could almost smell it. Yes. You can't, it's like, I know Robert DeValle. I know, old DeValle, what was it there? They're name palm. It smells like victory. I love the smell. Chicken manure. It smells like growth, you know. My chickens, you know, okay, with so many, I'm going to be serious. We're talking about fertilizer shortages coming up. Yeah. What's happening in the middle of it? People, and I explained it before the show is over,
a little bit about that type of preparedness. And I want to talk about that. It's a serious, that's a serious business part, but yeah. It's like, so yeah, she, we're going to get, smoke in and get in some jerky smoke. And I've read, if you hear, hear your meats and you back and pack it like I do, you can ship it, as long as not 100 degrees in there. And most shipping is a postman. You're getting it cold anyhow, all the fridge or freezer and it's going to be wrapped. It goes on cargo and stuff like that or cold. Everything's going to be fine because it's already cured, the salt's on everything like that. And it's vacuum pack. So if you send it to first class, a couple of days, it's a joke, okay. And so that's going to be our Christmas gift to you. And we got some really good stuff in there. Yeah, you just got to hope that, you know, when you send these kind of things, because, you know, where I live, it is always just a few degrees cooler than hell. Yeah, right. They have a tendency of leaving these perishable packages on the front porch in direct sunlight. You know, at 110 degrees out. And by the time you get it, things are all just all melty.
Like I got a, just today I got a box with some vitamins in it. Right? I've got some new Omega threes and, you know, they come in the capsules, not the caps, but the gel caps or whatever they are. Right, right, right. The gel thing. And, I mean, they were mush. They were mush. They were all stuck together. And I had to, I had to shake up the container. I threw it in the fridge for a little while, just to get, you know, the temperature back. And now I got to hope that it's not spoiled. Otherwise, I'm out. Right. Exactly. It's just what's going on. So that's what's going on. It's harvest time. It is September 1st. So I looked at it. I got my purple cabbage. I love cabbage. It's fantastic. They're a little bit bigger than the fest. A little bit bigger. I wait till I get the bowling ball by the end of September. And it's going to be raining in the next couple of days, which they, those type of vegetables and the, this thing called colar arbore. I can't pronounce it. But it looks like a round thing with these, it looks like a saline thing.
It's just, it's an oblux thing. I think I got a picture of it somewhere. And they're right. She just, let's just grow these this year. I guess they're good. You got to peel them like there's no one. I got a lot of, I got a lot of, she just leave them in there. We're a grab one at a time. They're fine in the water. You know, the water's not going to bother those. So I got lots of great purple cabbage. And I love cabbage. This because I do. I mean stir frying and this, you know, a good cabbage. And you can even make a coleslaw, put that Joe on a freaking, you know, whatever sandwich you want them saying. Oh, yeah. But we got our cabbage. It's so great. We just finished our peas. And I'm going to take the peas, you know, peas out of the pot. And we're going to do some peas and carrots. But you get a little glimpse of this video here. And she's got someone about logging. So what are we doing? We're logging for harvesting timber. We're going to be making two by fours with this, our lumber friend. He's going to be taking the logs. We're going to get like this. Check this out. A thousand out of these logs so far. Not, not total, not total, total, total. Now we're getting a 10 by 20 building to fill it up with two by fours
and two by six is for next spring. Rosanna's mega trend. Oh, I can't say that. Mega size. I call it chicken operational facility. Sounds like a good idea. In house or a hen house, you know, but no, it won't be a chicken. Listen, you know, chicken operational facility. I got a good vacuum packer. So, man, I'm going to be growing these, these birds up. I got a place where we're going to be butchering, raising, raising chicks. Butchering fresh. Totally organic. And what I'm saying about organic. Let's get back to the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, and then we're getting to the water. So, we're getting to the water. We're getting to the water. And looking at the water. We're getting to the water. I'm getting to the water. I'm getting to the water. Going back. What's going on? I got, I got a place. Going to gardening area over. It's expanding the garden. Nice. And we cut some trees down. That we harvested a trees for lumber in timber. Bandessons is kickin. It's going to be fantastic for those. What I call those sunny vegetables.
I'll figure out what I corn and some other small things like but I'm gonna be loading that up next spring Be working the greenhouse, but the thing is yeah, she's had three three Horrible scenes of rhubarb. It's an acquired taste and she can disguise it I didn't think she made a strawberry rhubarb Strawberry rhubarb like not so much a pie, but like a tart. I loved it I think I didn't there's a kid I had rhubarb it but She's a she's a below you magician. I'm telling you she can just do that right and so that's what's happening on a far but lots of stuff Ask me to get talking about it all day. Do you want me to run the video now for you? That's a farm hold on a second. I just want to finish. We're also we're finishing up like I said My beats have got another few more weeks and now I'll just go around and hold thing my beats are gonna be finished zucchini who wants zucchini? You're pulling a couple zucchini you get 30 of them so you start passing those around but I like zucchini and I'll freeze dry those
I freeze them yellow and green and then go around and like I said we're good to go my beats are gonna be there for another A little bit, but let's talk about we are Harvesting so let's take a look at what she's got and explain how What she's gonna be doing with the product all right? So this is this is Rosanna harvesting the rhubarb Right all right Life on the farm with Rosanna and Wayne The practical prepper on the Joe Roos show Chicken for we wanted to get a word in so This is the life I'm here with a rhubarb. This is my third through the growing harvest for For rhubarb, so I've already harvested some some Stox and I wanted to just show you what I do with the stocks and how to keep the The plant really thriving So I mean this is a it's still small because they get really tall
But what you do is you pull from the base you don't have to use a knife to harvest it So you pull the rhubarb and you can see where this growth starts on the rhubarb But you cannot eat the leaves the leaves your poisonous for us So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to cut off the leaf nice knife Thank you And then I'm going to put the I put the leaves around Around the rhubarb as you can see I've done before and that kind of just gives it its nutrients back You can do this also with grass clippings is really healthy for the rhubarb It makes it just grow really quick And then what we do with this is you can cut it up you can make strawberry rhubarb pie Or you can turn around you can freeze dry it grind it and use it as a sauce Um, stocks or even jellies or whatever to thicken it and give it that that sweet and tartness Alrighty, well you have to be really proud
Yeah, she get her out of the get her out of the studio. She's in her element there. She's a farm girl Look at listen to how many things you could do with that one plant. Yeah It's amazing. It really is I've never really I've never really cared for rhubarb To be honest with you I've had it you know Like you in various iterations of it never really cared for it much, but The more you look at it though because I did look it up You know the more you look at it there are so many uses you get out of this thing It's oh man, and she explained them too the one she does If she does all the things she says she does yeah So she actually freeze dry them because we have a freeze dryer And she made the powder and so I said okay, I threw my protein drink in there Powder is in your residue it gave it a little tartness to it which is okay It you're not tasting the full rhubarb if you don't you if you didn't like it you still would get past it I was at Joe yeah because that wasn't enough. It was just it was like a a layer of the you know the the blender And had this a sprinkling in there because you know I told her to leave the residue in there
And I'm gonna be making that shake here in a second here And so yeah, but if you could see that right there there's my beats my beats were on the right over there And so but today I cut some I got some beats today. I'm gonna be I got a couple really good set good pairs of beats tomorrow I'll have you By the way when I do the beats in the water that's beat juice And that stuff goes in the blender okay super I may be wrong, but I've heard that beats are the super food of super food. They are actually I take a supplement for beats. Yeah beat rude extractives. It's amazing what it does for you It improves your circulation. It improves. It's just it's just some wonderful thing. It boosts your nitrous oxide Yes, I'm like that in your and your biggest nitrous oxide So I have a full courtyard a beat powder for you Nice. I feel like freeze-dried them. That's it's a small fortune because like 3799 for some little it is For ounce thing. It's crazy. So yeah, I wouldn't doubt that's $200 worth in that courtyard or at least on the
So I've done that for it's for you, but no we're gathering all this stuff Well, it's gonna happen. We're gonna get it to you if I have to fly it down And so but the the way she was explaining it Yeah, so how she takes one crop or you know One crop like that and gets three Out of it during the year So we have lettuce out there. I've been cutting the top of the lettuce and the lettuce was regrowing a little bit So but on the farm and what's happening is Were this two of us and this was a small Productive here because of my my surgeries my shoulders. So I said next year we're expanding the produce So that we're you know, we're gonna be doing logging here and we're gonna logging to be getting over next week on Rosanna out in the mountains Alpinow woods and her operating a Big excavator here and she's cooking ass. No, she's grabbing those things and moving machinery man And so it's like And I'm sure there's other women in America to do the same thing. There's women out in the farms and that's great And that's what you do But I guess just if you want to show people that you can do this on a small level and yet still be very productive
In order now a third freezer And we talked about the freezer last week and we made our jokes and we got Well, I think we're up to 128 cubic feet of freezer space now That's awesome Just thinking what you can do but well well Kenny our my buddy Kenny He said he said, man, we're gonna have a good elk year and I said pictures of my elk steaks today and Yeah, definitely elk is on the menu We go in the Michigan my buddy Jim might tell Jim text me wait On our properties. I have acreage. He has a repeatable buddy each other up. He goes to it I was out there mowing the property back where the the fence line meets the woods in the timber vector six bucks standing there six really bucks standing there It's Michigan they're all over the place there so But no, I mean with the What's what I just hear how many hundreds of tons of beef that is now should be sent back though wherever it came from and There's poison meat everywhere. Joe can you look at the whatever news source you say some teams recall the word recall is every day
Everyday they had that lettuce thing where people were getting sick When goes out the front door gets us on lettuce make fun of me. Oh, you know people can make fun of me and they people make fun of me You know Well, my friend you're probably right, but I don't want to go to the grocery store to other to get I found a local place Joe I'm not amish to many nights they sell raw milk. So I've been picking up some raw milk there for my for my Milk shakes they're not milkshakes, but you know my protein drinks is that something that you and Rosanna considered doing with with the produce setting up a little stand outside the property and You know getting vehicle traffic coming by No, we're up in the hills There's no vehicle traffic. I we don't we don't want vehicle traffic up that Yeah, I got you had an egg station at the end of the road The bastards are stealing she had him. She had it on video, you know the theft camera woman in her I could tell she was a little liberal she just looked at short hair and glanny grasses granny glasses Dusty white hair in her Audi runs from her Audi grabs a two dozen steals him and runs off And her Audi
She really needed those eggs and the guy with his fancy bike and fancy shorts and fancy helmet He grabbed his set of eggs and he took off so he said okay I'm gonna put the phone number there. You want to ex-opring him now So you know that would do that I just bring him down and it worked and so but we don't do it anymore. I just Everybody can starve you guys are on your own Everybody Oh, I get I get this thing from church these guys Like I said they go. Oh, when everything falls apart. I'm coming to your place. I go for what We're gonna have everything. Oh, so So you're gonna put your family's life in jeopardy Because your ignorance and your laziness and leave all the responsibility up to me It's not godly Because there's another guy if he was here today. He'd be pat me on the shoulder man. He'd be going dude I've got a had a guy like he was named as Joseph king of Egypt He'd go that way guy man. I want to hire him
I go where does this come from the mentality, you know, I'm gonna come up to your place and So you're gonna talk me out of my grandkids food I get I just joking to get it. I think I know I know I did prepare I did a preparedness class I printed it into the church. I showed him my all my you know literature all my stuff And they they voted 12 to know with the elders that not have me there They thought I was Well, they thought I was tinfoil cab guy. So I said okay. Who's right now? Huh? Yeah, who's right now? It's a great point. It's a great point It's not about that. I just this showing some basic stuff Mostly I was gonna get there to show how to how to store some water this for starters This for starters get some water stored in a few things and dry goods So you can get this out of your supermarket speaking of storing water Because I know we talked about this before you mentioned it a few times Yeah, when you store water how how long can you actually keep water Before it turns before it gets unusable
Well for me never because I have a water filtration system. Okay, so I will They showed that there's a burky companies some other companies and I got a regret for my waters half and half half my water I store because in the summertime the water my water tables goes down to my well So the dirt starts coming up and some sediment comes up So I'll just put it under my thousand gallons bigger 250 gallons thing there loaded up and I'll hand water my small plants So yeah, I'll do that. There's a watering stuff there But I have you know Those things you get at the water coolers the old school you you you turn them upside down and you hit the thing if the old water cooler So I got a couple of those full you know That's all I need for the immediate 72 hours, which I I got to get the 72 hour book to you So we can do a little bit more review and I go so a couple home people buckets full which is five gallons each So but These water filter systems now and I have these ones of these straws. I got these ones with these like thermos bottles So I could bring in
Muck water Import through it. It's gonna be crystal clear 99% of I can't pronounce all of the The bacteria names are fancier, you know I don't know the biological scientific names of these bacteria is that gonna do your bad But it gets rid of them. Okay, so I could I could take a thousand gallons Because these they're about the size of a drink and water you know a sports bottle right you And they do a thousand gallons. Wow. They filter a thousand gallons So how much is a thousand gallons if the powers out if I had a thousand gallons on my property? Which I do you know this if I needed to drink that I go out and just hit the tap And so bring it in and by gosh by galley there's no number and the powers out nobody gets the pee in the house That's the rule It's either you see her she He ain't got no problem back. I don't think you have a problem with that But we're out in the woods we're in the woods so But I guess my question really was more of like say say for someone like You know somebody lives in the city or somebody lives Yeah, in a place where they don't have access to the water. It's a five bottle waters. Okay, if it's sealed in a bottle plastic bottles
I Get away from it's plastic. I know those other but I have a glass one I have a I bought a glass in a water solar water Judged and you see it I can get one of those caps and I see it pop once it's sealed just like a Up when you're canning vegetables once that sucker sealed you can put a little You can go to those home depot get the stuff from the water tablets and stuff like that But in general if you've got water from the safety from your tap and you put it in one of those Five gallons you do get to say you got 10 gallons ago and you put them in a closet like I tell you to or in your basement or in your Whatever you want to call it if you got a pantry or you got a room downstairs or even one of the rooms where it's not awesome light Under the bed because they are sealed to say those ones Yeah, you get out the time of problems Those last forever. I mean they do last forever. I mean I've had water for I got one of these things. I've had for 10 years Full of water, but I use it for my plants and stuff like that if I needed to I pull it in my water filter system
But that's me for for you and everybody else go by go by case as a water at your big stores. Go do it store it It's gonna be fine, but keep it in the shade. That's the problem. You don't want to have sunlight best Blast and that thing especially with plastic. So I tried to put them in glass containers, you know, even like Like I said if you have some bigger Like manage jars or something to be put in general. Let's go buy those things that It's I don't like me when the names of the store, but you know, you know the big water cooler things Yeah, I remember I remember you used to get be able to get those five gallon Glass Water Joe. I have I have a glass one. I know that's I know this we're talking about yeah, and but I don't where do you find something like that today? You got a look you got a look online. That's an online thing. You got to go online eBay or there's some old school farm stores still and I got it at one of those uh Like off the grid farm stores down in my area. I got I bought it here locally in about 25 miles south
And so there's some areas that still will sell those and so I picked me up one and so come to swinter If it's gonna start raining so I will actually fill it with rainwater filter grain water Nice gotta be the best because even groundwater I know you can go environmental. I'm from I'm If I'm the crow flies 50 60 75 miles from the ocean. So whatever's coming in from the ocean I'm not saying it's perfect everybody, but you're gonna have the freshest clearest water possible Because nothing's been contaminated like across the United States as the clouds go west you pick an upsell You go over you know Whatever city that's industrialized in the west coast or in some coal mine area or something Different story, but I'm getting clouds that haven't been touched yet for thousands of miles Under Pacific Ocean. So I got I'm gonna clean up my my gutters here tonight I'm here by tomorrow and I'm gonna have the range coming and I filled my hot tub with it. It's great water So that that's different for me. Let's go buy a couple five gallon jugs. They're about 10 bucks each I think
The store may not and that's for mostly for drinking You know if you you know if you we all say what they all say you need water within More than anything you know so many days without food, but only so many days without water, which is okay Yeah, I go less you get less without water than you do food Yeah, I was when his cobbin was going on and the lady had the six things at Costco six cases that cases Hey, you know what you could do This refill those bottles up. She looked at me when I just refill them up All you need is one out of the 48 when you're done drinking just fill it up You have a water head shut off. Yeah, she's yeah, well there's no there was no water show off at covid right Home eating and drinking out I go what do you buy in 12k? Well, how many cases it was they start living in them Okay, and I go, you know, it's kind of crazy. It's like you know Everybody was toilet paper crazy. I know that. Yes I'm going how much are they eating out there, you know
And nobody's going out for dinner. Nobody. I mean, it's probably I had someone call me up for toilet paper Joe. Yep Some of my people told me that yes. You got any extra toilet papers. I'll give you a roll I made me doubt the warehouse. There's a fifth and ninth street No 20 toy and toyed You know like it was like those 70 shows like Beretta and Starsky and Hutch The deal is going down at the warehouse tonight. Every week goes to the warehouse Because that's where they filled it, you know, it's Beretta the box is still else safe every time same box Fight and they get thrown off they still land in the car boxes wouldn't think in them There's nothing into things, but you know sponge or whatever So it's like I'll make you down and I'll see I give you a roll and a problem, you know But it's just it is amazing how unprepared for this nation really is for everything For totally everything and it's 9-11 comes up, which I know it's a subject with you. I wrote on a comment
I said amazing. I watched a 9-11 thing. It was an in-depth one. I go wow So he took down four car four planes with box cutters Now they're going to take down the country with the ballot box Yeah, that's very true Very very true my friend very true somebody said very poetic Wayne box cutters the ballot box different type of box Want to planes down the other is look at New York City I said and now New York City has been taken down by box cutters and the ballot box Yeah, the guy that the guy that flew into the planes is related. The guy who's running the city Practically Yeah, basically yes Basically now what's happened? You're so called free, Texas What the hell is going on down? You know, there's a lot of weird stuff going on down here I'll tell you what Abbott so bought off by the Arabs you think so if you're listening I have the stuff on him. I have it on him. He is so bought off by the Arabs. Oh, yeah Well, Trump is too. I mean his son-in-law which actually who's running the country not Trump his son-in-law is running the country
Because how come was his son and okay? I'm gonna get off but it were this is preparedness stuff So we prepared people We had a summer that gas and negative under five dollars a gallon hardly here maybe four 65 All summer long summertime Nobody hardly did another fishery the fishing boats were shut down. Yeah, I remember last week we were talking about the yeah The gas prices are ridiculous here. Uh, what was it the I filled up yesterday. It was three 50 something I just went past the 7 11 it was 509. Oh wow Yeah, so we have not went on higher second tires But to get back to it is yeah the Arabs have bought off Dolly Trump it was Three sons well Jared Kushner the son-in-law who went and negotiated the Iranian deal which we know that was in a negotiation He's not elected official How why was he sent he wasn't voted in for anything and he Best buddies with Netanyahu they've stated each other's places when he got in both countries Big conflict of interest there. So he had no intention to do nothing about bomb my ran
And so but he just had a big deal with some Arab oil guy for two billion dollars And Trump's other two sons Trump's three sons it made six billion dollars since this has happened on oil futures Yeah, now down there in Texas it goes like you know the old pyramid scheme. It's reached governor Abbott And he's looking the other way Let me think of this. I mean how how are these Islamic senators In Congress and they're talking death to America. Yeah, well first of all. I don't think if if you weren't born here You shouldn't you shouldn't be able to seek such high level office. I mean right community level Yeah, something like that fine, but not even community level anymore I mean, well, no, I know it shouldn't be but I'm saying you know if anything it should be that or could be that Not not at the at the federal level at that height So in the word of preparedness be prepared ladies and gentlemen boys and girls the gas won't go down for a while If ever it's never gonna go back down. You're never gonna see you're never gonna see two dollar gas
You're never gonna see two 50 gas. It's always gonna be They're gonna gas light us to three dollars is good. Yeah At least it's not three 50s. It's not Listen, you know, this is not five oh five. It got up to five oh got the six bucks up here in some places Seattle because they got higher tax six bucks a gallon so But my my preparedness tip of the day is they all Stay home and grow crops, you know So uh, wanted to add something to the Whatever I know in what the word is so we're cutting which you will see next week On the cutting of the timber and the logging Operation we got going with logger at Rosanna And so she's gonna give you a great in depth of what's happening and taking a look at how you harvest trees Unlike the liberals of America go don't cut any trees and let all the fourths burn up and what I can She's going to show you And I have proof of this show on film We've been cutting trees and more deer have been showing up
Because when you cut the trees the canopy's going like gosh by golly it grows Ground forage that they're used to eating now when there's a fire 150 years ago who put it out Nobody Just burned that on the side and they have let it burn Half a million acres of burn We had more deer and elk in history of America back then, you know 200 years ago I know they tore they know during the civil war era and after that they destroyed the wildlife in the west That was the fact, okay, you know buffalo will build his buddies which you you know 10,000 buffalo at five in five minutes and let them die there and cut their tongues out But I'm talking about Traditionally this country had so much natural resources And was managed by itself It really was they they they showed that you know when you when you harvest trees and you plant them back my planted trees And I fought fires I fought the fires the planet a tree if you do it correctly Managed a new you know you you gather up all the logs like I have my place back I'm going to show you the pictures we cut all our logs we have these big huge burn piles because we scraped the ground
I'm going to be planting trees back and My my forester guy says you're going to steam or deer where we see more deer He said the elk are starting to start coming in because I'm going to plant in elk grass elk are about 400 yards off So these trails they just haven't gotten closer. They're getting close So it's one of those things where You know, it's a it's a crop if you do it correctly everything done correctly works If you know what you're doing and being a good steward of that It works, you know, and I'm trying to so here's the thing So we're going to harvest the trees Then get our boundaries legally set and then within a year we're going or two probably two years We're going to be putting a big fenced area and yes We're going to put a cattle there And then a year after that she wants to get a milk and cow I'm talking there's something there have her own milk Our own milk she wants to make cheese She knows what to do this stuff, okay You know she part homage I think but we're talking about yeah, I'll do my
I'm going to amish Joe. That's all there's two of them Comey Wayne a Daya we have a Daya, you know my wife Rebecca Where's Rebecca at? Is your sister Rebecca there? Call your aunt Rebecca You know Darts Abigail Rebecca Um, like I said I'm a risk I Henry Rollins. He was a hard-ass rocker. Oh, yeah, because man I was touring because I was I don't know where I was at Uncle Homer some crazy place I had to stop I said the bus we had they stopped us at something whatever places wall martyred lows or whatever says I'm going down the aisle and there's a woman like 12 kids coming my way and all of them with old testament names Oh Nothing wrong with that I like that You know while you're Joseph your new testament guy actually no Joseph's old testament to yes. Oh, it's so some in a way Red ski in Newton Oh, I know John Wayne doesn't count. It's his last name. The uh That there's a there's a there's a verse and I think it's in Proverbs. I remember the address of it
But it says that it says a good name is rather chosen than great riches Okay, you know what we stand for Ox worker. Yes. Yeah, actually it's funny. You said that because I was just I just opened up a little window of your I was gonna do a little search on that one just I went ox man. I'd rather be an ox is some worthless animal or whatever something like that An ox works all day so she wants to put a milk cow back there. So let's get the beef done first It's see how how it adapts to this she goes she says I'll milk it and I know she will She goes man. We'll have our own milk. Well, it's not making cheese ourselves. Oh I will have it then have everything We really truly will have everything and I told her that we're gonna get new to right? Yeah, exactly I told her that I says I mean I just am uncomfortable when a president were winches and the word nookin someone Yeah, that's the that I don't it's uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable with any president in the history of mankind
Do you know the severity because I have a I will say this right now my father In the military out in the Japanese islands. He was the guy his team Fueled the plane to drop the atomic bomb and they know the gate that morning He says you don't want to go this route. Dad said don't do it He had burns on his legs From this being around that thing it was only in the thin little layer of metal. I'm sure that thing was going I'm serious the first one they did they put it in a wood box There's a new wood box man, so I'm gonna you know here you go Wayne Wayne means wagon maker or wagon driver Okay, I heard ox too wagon maker when gretzky Wayne Rooney, you don't know who that was Now John we did see the second names don't cost Bruce Bruce Wayne John Wayne I got it by talking first names it was Wayne Wayne Gretzky and Wayne Newton those two guys right there, but it also means ox someone token
Okay, okay, wagon maker was illogical. Yeah, we'll take your word for it. Candyman Old school handyman, so yeah, I built a belt in the ox pulled it and so But they get back to it Joe. I My My Rose and I says, please don't tell me about the news If you're in form, I'll follow your lead if you say you know, go There's a little one on his little comics. I think these are little comics. They're stick people big head little triangle bodies with stick Little arms. Yeah, and she's going you know the most biggest fear I have Gin and I think whatever his name was airing or something airing is being of a shark He goes what's the biggest thing you fear is it'll be a need by a shark he goes Well, what's your biggest fear here and he goes well We're in the situation there. It's something's really terrible happen. I say Gin get in the car and then you go well, she goes well, what's wrong? I go well, that's a sit. I just say gin get in the car I don't want to and they she starts going to drink it. She starts drilling them. The line. Am I getting in the car for why you She says it's too quick to tell you there's a monster coming. There's something you're gonna eat us
Gin getting a car and it turns out so big Actually, which actually which actually defeats the whole purpose of what she said right yeah everything I'll follow you whatever you tell me to do and be it right tell you get in the car. You know listen She know she said when you tell me to get in the car for is there something he said I'm not that's not the situation's about south just getting a car But I can't give you an freaking an example of what's going on. I can't give you a you know An essay of what's happening to car so My wife is we're good with that we have that Roseanna disco and she had just do it. It's not because she's on the street And I don't know the little puppy tonight that I don't like that relationship. I would never have that type of relationship She knows my instincts are freaking good And I said something today she goes damn you're right on it. I said yeah, I said look we're in and you know, I didn't like I said I I grew up in a street but not sesame street I mean, you know, it's like one of those things were like, you know, I don't know if we should go over here It she says you're usually right your instincts. I grew up in a farm out in the middle of the desert
You know, you know, I'm at the school. I think you're 27 kids graduated. You know, I got it I said it's just it's experience. It's nothing. I know more than a lot of people it's its experience and You know, if things don't look right sound right feel right and I'm experienced enough or old enough you would use the word things don't look right sound right a feel right chances are they're not right Right, right so so on my preparedness. I said look at what we're doing and we're not even jope I won't say it's uh, it's like easy But it falls into place Joe Roos listeners if you got experience. I've have experienced a lot of I've worked in the woods Okay, she's worked on farms. They had a farm. I worked in the woods. I had some animals. She's had horses She used to break horses which is so sexy to me Cracking that whip and bringing it while Mustang that is so freaking sexy. I grow like her and tight jeans Wayne I did not know you were into that kind of thing
Isn't everybody I'm serious man. It's kind of an Indiana Jones thing. I got going there, you know, but no for real. It's like I You know, but just just just the things that are that are dancing through my mind right now. Oh, just I don't Her into tight jeans, but the thing is she her here's here's a necessity everybody just something She didn't have a mom and eight years old all of a sudden and they go, you're at You're at yeah, he's when he's old. Oh, not homage, but old school Mormons were they they had some different rules Being old old school old testament Mormons they called themselves and the kids had the line up every morning check your nails and read old scripture or whatever Stuffed it's not doctor to me. I mean it's it's it's it's running rough shadow of your kids and your wife and that's actually Extra-pabilical tradition. It's yeah, don't don't start with me people don't you know what I know the Bible very well like Joe does and knowing it and Believe all this and I know let's examine those scriptures, you know
Hermanudix lit exxan Examine this verse in this finite exverse that kind of examines it about Hermanudix cross referencing So yeah, I if you want to dictate your family and just David Kuresh style stuff is what it was That's why told her she didn't know who he was your your dad was like almost David Kuresh stop mentality actually don't even know if you can The beach boys or any of the Beatles, you know, I said name all four beach boys or Beatles. I know the beckery boys, you know It's like that, but no it's no It's amazing the difference of like I said the knowledge once you got those phones it stopped knowledge stopped Yeah, it did I said man, and I go um I love old school stuff. I can look things up, but um So yeah, she now she's she had a great story. I love the story she told me she says She's cooking for the older youngest ones and they raised rabbits a lots of rabbits Which was called chicken because the kids didn't know the rabbits were disappearing because they haven't so many rabbits, right
But they always had me and she'd always she would butcher it up. It's like Yeah, we got the chicken ready, you know and for years not his kid know it so here's a gal 19 years old cooking for her family and then older raising the horses with her dad that's Putting up gates and the things you do they even have an ostrich whichever Whatever that works. I guess the meat's pretty good. She said But we had all that stuff. I'd have to shoot a coyote if it got too close to the cavler the horses. I'd have to You know, I've fished with my brother. So the it's called experience. Yeah, it's what it is So I'm teaching her crop growing which he does not know she's a desert person. She's a good animals She's a good a cow will be fine For a steer will read will pump is but full of whatever we need and one of the places locally these places which is big deal The breweries these these hips hipster kids that they call micro brews these micro brews are cool to the farmers Compute free all of the free match you want after out the stuff. They make afterwards. How's love it To get some fat and whatever but for the last
Yeah, I don't know if it does or not actually I think that's all weaned out and everything so that's Joe Yeah, you know Cow tipping to another level How tipping I To another level. Yeah I'm thinking about the cars in the maiter. It's a ghost lat You know pushing over and pushing over the cat or they may be pushing over tractors though So that's this pop in my brain when you said I eat cow tippy but So I guess the thing is you got to eat and if you know what If you're people say you're on a fixed income mine's more So mine's worse than fixed. I don't get paid to be retired the government just doesn't decide not to pay because I'm on a bad list. I'm I'm on a crap list with them because I'm still fighting for my paychecks and I think it's actually ridiculous. You still pay if it's a paycheck. I mean, I'm still fighting for my how long has it been now? Well, which there's three cases my retirement part they only 14 years
Retirement that they forced me out and lost the case legally wise, but then Two years I didn't get paid because I this paper worked at when you're under 62 years Well, so it's just one piece of paper once a year that you didn't make any wages. I'm not making a dollar because You get over 900 bucks a month you get rattled and it screws with everything you can't make 900 bucks a month You just can't how do you do that in my age bracket? I can't do it the jobs That are underpaid. It's gonna break my back. Yeah, and I'm retired for a real reason. I can't do french fries all day My back to make $899 a month So I did an unprofit I worked for the Lord I and I did an unprofit all for those 25 years So when my late wife was dying. I missed the paper. It's called a Urge wage earners survey things through operation of postal whatever operation with Operation of postal management or whatever they call it the opium personal manager
mismanagement So they sent me where we we've held your pay and they did it for two years Okay, okay, got it. I fit my paper. I got it all re-back and reestablished. I need my two years now I need to get my paycheck for the last two years And it's been since since 2023 From 2021 to 23 heading you pay. I got the paper Where the lady sent it to him. I'm gonna re-mail it. I'm gonna try it again and send it to her go So you put me on a Whatever jute vacation or something like that. There's no jute vacation. Just pay me my paycheck You submitted me a case member a case worker September 2020 Someone a mailer that I've been waiting two years to get on the case. That's been go last at five years now Oh my gosh, just pay me pay me my I'm easy little whatever it's about $20,000 Yeah, but still that's money. That's what you need. You mean this is your title to it. That's yours Yeah, but that's why I'm not financially dead, but we're financial
I have to watch every single penny because 20,000 dollars is what the debt part we have Because they get paid so if I didn't get paid Yeah, I already devoured my IRA for last 25 years because You know, like I said date when you force you out Under 62 you can't when you can't unless you're rich And I worked on the beat if I would have never got Eliminate or my last 15 years or nothing but my IRA. I was cram and had sucker full man It would have been a million bucks post to it Well, I didn't get there. It's okay because I got a farm. I don't want to farm Had a great farm gal and we better than rich people I mean my stakes the black angus my buddy raises over at Eastern Oregon. I don't care who you are in America I don't care what company they're from they're not better than ours No, it in close So yeah that you look stamina what's that line that you use all the time you live rich than your price range? Yeah, oh as I tell my wife you're gonna move a little bit of most exciting incredible Wild ride in this price range
A post bolsel retired guy and people look at her like I said she's as you can see there she's She's not when she when she puts she doesn't have to put makeup on she looks great But when she's when she guzzies up just a little bit she brings she she can bring it. Did you say guzzies up? Guzzies up guzzies up. It's a western thing. How old are you man? I'm talking to 60 some good. I'm masher. Damn. That okay. Wish Kitty sure guzzied up for night It's true martial melon and so I'm not track man. He's gonna be them wrong off the rails. She's a guzzied up doesn't need makeup Doesn't you know what anything is People look at go there must be something going on Uh, the age difference of 20 years it doesn't It's too in depth to get into but I guess if some people have been treated so badly by a certain age group of people young guys her age She's done. She said I tapped out with these guys these guys from 35 to 45 think they can't wonder
Well, she goes why is there a mass amount of millions of guides that are 35 to 45 single? Yeah Well, there's a number of reasons. Yeah, and there's a women too Yeah, and it goes both ways these guys haven't figured it out the 35s of 45s. They're almost done Well, they seem to it in some respects yes, and so I agree with you on that one But it's not in on another direction to that too Right, there are some things that I've been reading and studies that I've looked at and I've actually spoken to some some guests about some about stuff like Okay, that that you know a lot of men have checked out of dating Yeah, because of unrealistic goals or or any six-foot tall Or unrealistic ideas. I don't know about that I've read these I've actually just you had to be six-foot tall Six figures okay, yeah, so you have to have an X amount of dollars in your bank account and all that stuff And you have to bring it to the table and what do you bring to the table right? That's what I like What do you bring it or those ones to go? I'm a single mom. If you can't accept my four children
Boy I'm not gonna read someone. I did that one says it doesn't work. It really doesn't work very well And so it's too much conflict and so uh like that we I just read the most depressed Uh group and history of America. It's 40 something women Mm-hmm The the the most depressed most everything is like they because they gave up they gave up Family they gave up raising children they gave up you know having a have a marriage at a younger age Right for for a career they bought into that feminist bullshit You know, and so yeah, it's so but here's the thing. It's like In the pound who wants to get married? I mean like Okay, they're now too old for the 30-somethings and the guys that are you know that maybe they want are now in their 50s You know because the guys are age or just and like I said and if you find a guy like me You know that's a experience to this you know, I mean like I said uh
I do we have the funnest life in the world It's just not on the farm. Well, like I said we we travel and we love to fish and hunt and if even those talk to your bag What is your bag? I asked people, you know, what what what is your interest? What is your hobbies? I just talked to a guy today. I loaded some wood up. He knew an old postman. I knew So how how's time what happened? So well he needed to get a hobby. He died, you know, not good You know rotted liver and pretty much and you know, it's like and two or three guys have gone You know, they didn't have less 70 because they're They quit working and they bought themselves a big recliner No hobby at all. I mean, I don't have hobbies. I just have a lifestyle Gosh like I said right now my health is doing because I you know my bodies of You know Cancer cells have been in that sucker and I like I said That I was doing fantastic to the car crash last year. I was kicking it man. I was rocking rolling man I just you know this an all facets of life, you know, and so
The injury put me back. You see it'll be will be two years So my next April I'll be able to use both my arms to where I can do Ready for big guard. No big garden. It's gonna have a really big garden And we build the big chicken house chicken operational facility and then we have we have a smaller one This is gonna be just hatching eggs and hatching birds because chickens seem to go on a ebb and flow or whatever but roller coaster of We we have to kill 500 million and eggs are going up 10 bucks And then like I said and I could say but I like chicken meat. We got a big bird out there. She is monstrous And I said what let's go a different route. Maybe maybe dumplings How about some of your let's make some homemade dumplings this winter. We're gonna do her in the winter And I'm talking that stuff and her homemade bread Well, you know was grilling the ingredients. Oh chicken and dumplings or something. She was yeah Breaking out some old chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles It's all fun. We do stuff. We do she's gonna be doing a show with you
Hopefully you can do it at the same time, but she's gonna do one on sourdough on real sourdough And how it's really made there's a difference of store by and how it's this is you do this and this and ferment it this way this way I just had some Joe also die for I just had the bristles we were supposed to we was supposed to do a sourdough tutorial on Sunday But things happen that we weren't able to do it. It's gonna happen maybe maybe maybe maybe again next Sunday Yeah, I know she's feeling better. I know she wasn't feeling no she's she's gonna be she's There's a Before we hang up tonight This is except a relationship we have I says I totally destroyed my shoulder right cannot shoot a gun It's gonna be the next hunting season next year, okay? Because the power and the enforce the force into these cables literally cables That's what they are the cables with anchors hooked in there. They got it here for a year So that impact on my shoulder. So I signed it for a bear hunt long time ago So she's within a hundred yards of a small she's taking the shot on a bear And a bear hunt it's with guides and she goes all I want is that she's I want that rug and sausage
It's just you know like I said she worked it can I tell you she worked at the This is a woman who started something with a non-Mr. Wonderful and they started a Microsoft business They worked directly wood bill gates making 20-ish a month that was 20 years ago. So that's like 40,000 a month now, right? Yeah Yeah, so I've been there I've been there. I did it all we had to kind of money money was nothing we could you know Not a big deal. Let's go on a $25,000 vacation Not a big deal. She was I did that. She says it's not even close because he looks We're expected that dude is we're doing a rock and roll lifestyle on my x-wank. She's looking better. She never has before, you know Nice nice nice. No serious man. All right brother. But uh it is it is like I say I one thing last time I think I go there's something About growing stuff They're a beautiful watching my chickens out in the yard in the summertime I said out there Joe and his son starts to go down and they getting ready to go into the coop and just stop those and bread over there and
You know, I just the birds are start kicking and then things flying over so it's I don't even know I don't even know psychiatrists. I don't need to stuff like they get the Lord and this type of lifestyle and I love it like I said My hair's growing back a little bit here. So I'm gonna I'm gonna worry that you know when you when you shave your head like that it might not come back Yeah, I actually was bald before so I didn't want to bother me. Yeah, you know when I lost all my hair You know, I got this thing going so she likes this it works. She likes the bearded he um hair. It's overrated All right, I think we can wrap this up. I'm looking at it in time But yeah, got a really good one next week on on woods logging and what a lot of people don't understand About our our forests of America. They don't understand. It's all propaganda We like this roadside thing not open. We're gonna destroy the roads. We're gonna destroy everything It's over you know open it up start logging Start getting the deer populations going and outproppular and everything else will grow
This you got to start logging you got to start managing the woods and you know You have some crazy freaking propaganda of bright brainwash crap if you know these people never been in the woods You know and I can't convince them and well, what I was what I was saying before I leave is it's easier to fool people Then convince them that they're being fooled Great point. That's a good point mark mark twain mark twain. That's a good point. Not gonna waste the breath. Let's say I'm just gonna go Eat my dear jockey enjoy it I will all right on that video on that note.
