It's great to see you as always, man. So I want to ask you about something. You did something I thought was very bold and very admirable when you spoke out against what Laura Lune Murr had written and said about Angie Nixon, who is a Senate candidate in Florida and others. You put that out this tweet and said this. You traffic in low-level insults, cruelty and ugliness. You attack and saw black women because you believe peddling racism is good for your clicks and your business model. And then you go on with that same energy. But you said, but to Laura Lune Murr, you're going to attack brilliant, bold, beautiful black women. And then you say, I suggest you sit this one out. Why did you feel that you had to respond to this? You know, and one thing I've always said is like, I just don't believe that everybody with an internet connection and an ignorant opinion deserves a response. If we responded to everyone with an internet connection and an ignorant opinion and every troll, we wouldn't be able to do any of our work.

But there comes a point when you have to be able to step up and say something. Particularly when this is a person who is a close confidant and essentially a biser to the president of the United States. Right. She's ignorant. And frankly, that kind of ignorance cannot go untested. And especially when you are coming against a community and coming against people who deserve better and deserve our respect. And listen, you know, Don, as you know, like, I'm, you know, I was raised by amazing black women. You know, I'm married to an amazing black woman. I've got an amazing black woman as sisters. And I will never allow nor tolerate anyone in my presence to disrespect them. And so I don't know why I would start now and starting with Laura Lune Murr. And so I just felt that I needed to be able to respond to that level of ignorance, particularly when you're going to come after, when you're coming after people who, frankly, have been the backbone of so much of our society.

Why is it that someone like her gets the, you know, has an inclination and at least feels she has the authority to get out here and do something like this. I wonder if it is because of her relationship with Trump or if he somehow became the imprimitor for people to be able to spew this kind of hate. I am shocked that, you know, let's, let's put it this way of I would say my words, not yours, governor, the masks and the hoods have come off. And now they're wearing a face full of makeup or khakis, you know, roaming around our city, saying Jews will not replace us and blood and soil. That's right. Well, you know, and it's, and it's really sad for me because, you know, you know, as one of our nation's governors, I know I, I, I receive our intelligence reports every single week. And get updates on, on, and the level of the rise that we have seen in hate, the rise that we have seen in anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, anti-Black, anti-LGBGQIA. I mean, it is staggering what we are now seeing in our society. And, and to your point, the fact that it's so brazen, it's so out in the open.

And it's being done without a fear of consequence. And so I just, I just believe that that's why it does become so important for all of us to not just sit here and sit me and not just sit here and sit quiet. And I think that this type of ignorance is going to be tolerated. I look at comments like, you know, like what, what Laura Roomer said and listen to, to be clear, you know, I don't, I don't attack women. I defend them. But to be clear, Laura Roomer is a bottom fear. And that type of ignorance cannot just go on shacked. And we have to be able to push back against it and let people know that hate and ignorance will find no oxygen in our society. Because if we don't, it will continue to fester and continue to show itself in very dangerous ways. Look, you are, when I reported on this on my show yesterday, after you tweeted what you did, I said, you know, Westmore is a much more dignified better man than I am because I had more choice language.

But here's where we should see my first draft. You should see my first draft. Yeah, I know it's better. Right. The first draft get it out. Right. It's like the letter you never mail. Yeah. That letter you never mail your ex. So, but here's where I think that we're similar is that I think we were raised by similar mothers or grew up in similar households because I don't, I don't attack women that way either. But there's an exception to this, especially for someone who uses that kind of language. Now, she actually said that on video, you know, black bees and all that stuff. I don't even, I don't even want to play it. But we have Angie Nixon on if we can just get right to her response about it. We had Angie Nixon on and this is what she had to say about Laura Lumer. How are you? Good morning. I am. This message is brought to you by Avocado mattress. When you're shopping for a mattress, you can spend hours reading reviews and scrolling through photos.

AvocadoGreenMatress.com. I'm just tired. It's become so normalized for people to continue to attack us and all we simply want to do is just fight for the soul and the humanity of our country want to fight to make sure that people have access to quality health care to good fully funded public schools. I was told myself I was not going to do this. Y'all are not going to see me climb home camera.

So, Governor, she, you know, women are used to being attacked for what they were, what they wear, how they look, all those things. And I think her emotion is the reason that you responded the way you did and I responded the way I didn't and many people responded because it was just beyond the pale. Like that hurts me. Yeah. I was like, when I'm looking at an Angie, like I'm looking at my mom, I'm looking at my sisters, I'm looking at my wife. Like you can't come at them like that, man. Like they spend a lifetime protecting us. They spend a lifetime lifting us up. They spend a lifetime telling us and showing us and reminding us that no matter what the world is saying you are, you're better. And now to watch them be attacked like that. Like that hurts. And listen, what, you know, we're talking, she's being attacked by somebody who literally just spends her time making ignorant comments and getting paid for it.

Correct. This is a woman who Angie is, is she's a public servant. The level, she is a brilliant woman. The level of sacrifice that she is making on behalf of you because just because she wants to serve her community. Just because that she says she wants to make sure that all children have an opportunity. She wants to make sure that all people can age in place and age in dignity. Like this is what she's fighting for. This is why she's running. And she's being insulted by someone who wouldn't understand public service. If it literally, it's back during the face, back during the face. And so, and so that's why I just feel it's like, you know, she's spending her time and she's devoting her life to protecting us. And so I just think it's important to make sure that we protect her right back. Yeah, look, I couldn't agree with you more. Like I said, well, Hakeem Jeffries spoke out a lot of people spoke out again. I'm not going to play my words for you. I would like to, but I think I might embarrass you and, you know, and, you know, the misses might get mad at me because you know, she's my favorite more.

She's my favorite more. So listen, all of this is really important that we're talking about because we've got this election that's coming up, right? And in just a couple months, I mean, just a matter of date weeks, I should say. And then we just got this report. This is from the New York Times saying a whistleblower says that Trump officials are defying court orders on voting by mail. It is a New York Times report that we have here that they're going ahead and they're, they're going on with their plan. Even though a judge said, hey, halt this, stop this. Don't do it. They're continuing to go on. I'm worried about the election in 2026. And I'm also concerned about how brazen this administration is and his supporters are when it comes to this is a postal services zone by the people. Right. And the same thing there are similar things that they're doing with the election system and, and confiscating the election results and material from from Folkton County, Georgia, etc.

This is, this is frightening. Yeah. It is, it is, it's frightening. It's, we need to take it seriously. But the thing I would also tell people is, know your power. And I would say both to voters and both to the people of our individual jurisdictions is saying, like, listen, do you know the best way to be able to overcome fears of, of, of them rigging elections went overwhelmingly. But the other thing I would say this is too is that, you know, I was, I was recently selected by, by the, the other governors in America to serve as the chair of the National Governors Association. So I'm very humble that the America's other governor selected me to serve as leader of this organization that's both Democratic and Republican governors. One thing that we have been sharing and stressing with our governors. And also, you know, being able to put real action plans around is let's not forget voting is not a federal function. It's a state-run function. The only way they can take our power is if we give it to them.

And so the message that we've been sending to all of our governors, all of our attorneys general, all of our secretaries of state is read the Constitution. Remember the 10th Amendment. Remember our power that when the founding fathers of this country put this thing together, you know what they, you know, the reason that they gave voting to the states was because they did not want a tyrannical leader to be able to help to shape and shift elections. So the moment we are in right now is exactly what they are preparing us for. And it's exactly why they gave us the rights and the 10th Amendment. And so I want for all of my colleagues to be able to say I say to them, remember your power and do not give something away when it is constitutionally yours. And I say to the people of our individual jurisdictions, remember your power to remember you determine the direction of our country. Hello. Sorry, we're booked out at least three weeks. Yep, sorry. Another one you had to turn away? Yeah, third one today. And I'm not going to have the available cash or time to hire more help until after busy season.

I don't think you can wait. Got any ideas? Get business financing through Capitas. Easy application, no hidden fees and really fast funding. Oh yeah, how fast are we talking here? It's a little is 24 hours. You know, let me call that guy back. Stop turning down work. Start growing. Get the funding you need at capitas.com. That's K-A-P-I-T-U-S.com. I just want to look, I know we have limited time with you, but I just want to put up this tweet. It's from Mayor Scott. And in the tweet, he says, look, we are marking something very historical here as we mark the end of summer. Baltimore continues to make historic progress on public safety. And then if you go all the way down, basically what he's saying is Baltimore City homicides and nonfatal shootings are down, homicides are down 18.2%. Nonfatal shootings are down 5.6%. That also speaks, I believe, for the entire state of Maryland, because you know when people say Maryland, they think you're the governor of Baltimore. I would wear that auto. I wear that badge or pride.

What do you think about those numbers? I'm proud of this. Listen, Don, when we first came, when I put my hand on the Bible and became the governor of Maryland in 2022, Baltimore was averaging almost a homicide a day, a day that Maryland, we were, I mean, we were watching violent crime that was just absolutely, just absolutely paralyzing our neighborhoods and communities. Where for the seven years before I became the governor, the nonfatal shooting rate doubled in Maryland. And I told him I refused to be a governor that's going to spend my time giving you a lease or offering thoughts and prayers. And so we did something really unique. We actually started working with the mayor and working with local law enforcement that we started working. We started working. We said we made historic investments in community violence into ruptures and people who were turning back to our society. We gave new pathways for people to enter back into the workforce. I signed the largest mass pardon in the history of the United States of America, when I pardon over 175,000 misdemeanor cannabis convictions to give people a chance to get back into the workforce.

And what's been the result, the violent crime rate in the state of Maryland, since I've become the governor is down nearly 60%. It is the fastest drop in the United States of America. And Baltimore city, as you saw there with my friend, Mayor Scott, the last time the homicide rate was this low on Baltimore, I wasn't born yet. And so, so we have to, so we're back in the 1900s. It's crazy. So I mean, like, exactly, but I mean, like, so we know we have more work to do. And I've been very clear, I will never be satisfied until everybody feels safe in their neighborhoods, safe in their communities and safe in the wrong skin. But damn it, if I'm not proud of how this state has stood up and how Baltimore has stood up and how Maryland is taking care of each other in a way that we have not seen in history before. But we also know we got more work to do. Governor, your team is going to kill me. You got to, you can't be so long winded. I know, I know, I know one quick thing and governor's team because they're saying he's got a rap.

Listen, some of the major democratic folks are launching the Get Out the Boat and save the boat of Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom. Do you plan on doing anything similar? What do you think of that? Oh, we're going all around to making sure that not just for people in Maryland and not listen, and I'm on the ballot. I got 62 days in a wake up before my reelection. And so we plan on hopefully not just asking the people of Maryland for their support, but we want to win and we want to send a message. But I'm also going out there and campaigning in Wisconsin. They have a fantastic governor candidate, gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin. We're going to go out there and go out to Nevada. And I'm campaigning for a fantastic candidate Aaron Ford, who's running for governor. We're going to be down in Georgia campaigning for Keisha Lance Bottoms to make sure that she can win in Georgia. We're going to be going out in Ohio and campaigning for Amy Acton to make sure that she can become the governor of Ohio. We're going out to Michigan to go campaign for my friend Jocelyn Benson to make sure she becomes the next governor in the state of Michigan.

And so we're going to be going out, Jermaine Johnson in South Carolina. We're going to be going out and making sure that people will hear us loud and clear that in this moment, we will determine our future and nobody else. But the only way that happens is if we get out and vote. So I will be out there. We'd love to come along with you. We were invited by the new some folks who go with them to South Carolina this week. We're going to go. We'd love to go with you as well if that's possible. I would love to do it. Let's do it. Thank you, Governor Westmore. And please bring Mrs. Dawn and Mrs. Governor Westmore, First Lady Dawnmore with you. We would love that. Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. God bless you, man. Thank you. You as well. Thank you.
