From ABC News headquarters in New York City, this is GMA-3. We begin with the latest on the war with Iran. The Pentagon says the strikes against Iran in the already massive air campaign will be intensifying. And chief foreign correspondent Ian Panel is tracking it all for us from Tel Aviv, Israel. Ian. Yeah, good afternoon. Residents in Tehran are reporting one of the heaviest nights of bombing so far. We've seen the US and Israel step up their campaign, but Iran is still showing that it's got the capability

1:03to retaliate. Overnight and Iranian missile intercepted over Kuwait debris igniting a large fire coming from the direction of the Ali al-Salam base which hosts US troops in video verified by ABC News. Iran saying they're preparing for a possible US ground invasion. Saying quote, we're waiting for them and warning thousands would be killed while not ruling out boots on the ground. The US hasn't announced any such plans, but Secretary P. Tech says saying the attacks on Iran are about to surge dramatically with the stock pile of munitions ready for deployment. Iran is hoping that we cannot sustain this, which is a really bad miscalculation. Overnight, US central command releasing video of a strike targeting an Iranian drone carrier, part of their larger mission to sink the entire Iranian navy. Since day one, the US says Iranian missile attacks have gone down 90 percent and drone attacks down 83 percent. Meanwhile, the Israeli government claims they've destroyed more than 60 percent

2:06of Iran's ballistic missile launches. The death toll in Iran now 1200 according to the Red Cretan Society. This as the region continues to be rocked by this war. Israel widening a second front in Lebanon with multiple waves of attacks on Hezbollah targets in Beirut, ordering hundreds of thousands of people to leave their homes. Residential buildings and businesses destroyed. While the conflict escalates, thousands of Americans struggling to evacuate from the region. Overnight, some returning home after days of travel chaos and confusion. I couldn't do more relief to be home. Well, the president of Iran, Masoud Pasekhin, posting on ex a couple of hours ago that some countries have begun mediation efforts. And yet, President Trump then taken to true social saying there will be no negotiations. There will just be complete surrender from Iran. Meanwhile, you've got this assembly of experts, the organization inside Iran that's charged with electing a new Supreme leader, according to one Iranian MP. They've now narrowed the options down to two candidates.

3:10But of course, remember, President Trump is saying he wants to be involved. Something is almost impossible to imagine the regime agreeing to. None of this indicates anything other than a long campaign ahead. Rihanna? A long campaign indeed. Thank you for following this for us, Ian panel. We turn now to the latest on Britney Spears. After she spent a night in jail following an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, Trevor Alt is in Los Angeles. With more on this, Trevor, you hate to see this. Absolutely. But Rihanna, to be frank, there has been some growing concern about Britney Spears' mental health for quite some time now. She has now been arrested. And even her representatives say she has to make a change. The alarming new details of the arrest of pop superstar Britney Spears, taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Good of oxygen to be sitting and out of the hands of your C.C.'s mouth seating. They say Spears pulled off the highway and submitted to field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest, booked, and spent the night in jail.

4:11Representatives telling ABC in a statement, Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law. And hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life. Britney Spears was launched into super stardom as a teenager, going on to sell more than 150 million records. But she suffered a number of personal struggles. In 2008, she was placed under a court-ordered conservatorship, largely managed by her father, Jamie Spears, but the pop star says controlled her life and career for nearly 14 years. I felt like my family threw me away. I was performing for like thousands of people. I was a machine. It culminated in a massive movement from fans and supporters demanding a judge free Britney. We need to absolutely free Britney Spears. Jamie Spears has long defended his actions during the conservatorship, arguing his only aim was

5:14to protect his daughter's well-being and business. In 2021, a judge ended the conservatorship. But lately, there has been growing concern about the star's behavior, including her often bizarre social media posts. And in 2023, Spears made headlines for being stopped twice within a single month by the same officer, once for speeding, and then again for crossing double yellow lines. Do you know you can't pass on the double yellows? And when she gets out in public and starts acting in a dangerous fashion, that's when the authority step in, and that's really when her family should step up, and make sure that her safety is maintained. And Britney's representative says she'll now be spending time with her children, and her loved ones will be coming up with a plan for her well-being. She's due in court, May 4th. Got you. Trevor, certainly that growing concern with Spears there. Well, we turn now to the beef between fast food giants. McDonald's and Burger King have unveiled new, bigger burger choices that have taken a big bite out of social media. You see

6:16what we did there? But will that translate into better sales, Rian, and you have been all over the burger debacle? We're going on here. Okay, so let me break this down for you. It all started with McDonald's posting a video of its CEO taking a bite out of the Golden Arches newest burger in a simple taste test. But then the internet does what the internet does, and it turned into a viral roast. Other chains even jumping in with the kind of beef you just can't buy in any restaurant. That's a big bite for a big arch. Was it though? No question. A lot of people say that's one little bite, and it's stealing a lot of attention. A video of McDonald's CEO, Christchkem Chinsky, trying out the big arch, which is the chain's newest burger, setting up social media in recent weeks in the memes. They were drawing comparison to Squidward's micro bite of a crabby patty on SpongeBob's side. I need to see that, exactly. And then another commenter writing, he was eating like he was a contestant on fear factor. The attention didn't go unnoticed by its rivals. Burger King soon taking a big bite out of the

7:19viral phenomenon. CEO Tom Curtis. That's a lot of taste test, right? When he's got into the mix as well, their US president took four big bites of a baconator and then chased it down with a frosty. We reached out to all three chains. They are taking all of this attention in stride. And by the way, if you think you can do a better job, Wendy's will let you prove it. The burger chain is searching for a new CTO that is a chief tasting officer. The gig pays a hundred grand, and the only way you can apply is to submit a video. So I see Morgan raising Morgan's ready. Do you obviously have John to pick you to make this video? Somebody get me a burger. Yeah, do the snap dream job. If you don't bring it, I'll take it. You ready? Yeah, let's do this. We're back now on GMA-3 and talking about daylight saving time. Most of the country is springing forward one hour on Sunday morning. And that could of course affect your health, our chief medical correspondent, Dr. Tara Narula is here. So, Dr. Narula, we are doing a deep sigh this afternoon because we, you know, love daylight saving time, right? So much, but a lot of us think that it's about springing forward and then of course losing that hour of sleep, but

9:49it could really have some adverse health events. It can. And so a lot of us are going to be feeling really tired and our kids on Monday morning, but it does have health consequences. And that is for most Americans, except those in Hawaii, Arizona, and five US territories who do not change the clocks. But the concern is that we all have this internal circadian rhythm, our clock that controls all our bodily functions, digestion, our immune system, metabolism, our hormones, and it is very finely synced with the sunlight. So even that one hour change can really mess up that circadian rhythm. And so there has been research that shows, for example, a 6% increase in fatal car accidents in the week following daylight savings in increase in risk of heart attack and stroke and irregular heart rhythms like atrial fibrillation, mis-medical appointments, changes of course in our mood, alertness and concentration. So all kinds of potential effects. And when you think about it for a lot of people, it does take time to readjust for some people up to seven days. We were just saying our kids, it does seem like at least several days. And it is this artificial construct. It was developed out of World War One and Two to preserve our save energy. And we've really

10:51held on to this tradition since the 1960s. But there is a push by many groups, American Medical Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, to really eliminate it in favor of a permanent standard time that they say is really much more better for optimal health in terms of syncing us again to that sunlight. Unfortunately, that's not happening yet. Not yet. It's still I know up for discussion. It seems like every year. So they talk about it. But we mentioned the kids and every parent I know dreads this time. What can we do as adults and for our kids to help prepare for this? Well, we can get a shamrock shake. I'm just saying. We can be sure to do it. Remember bedtime up about 15 to 20 minutes tonight and tomorrow night. Make sure that you get enough sunlight when you wake up in the morning on Sunday morning and during the week. If you need to take naps the following week and really make your week a little bit lighter, that's good. Of course, all the sleep hygiene things we say avoiding screens and caffeine right before bedtime. And you can try Saturday night setting your clock, changing it earlier before midnight and then going to bed at your normal bedtime and waking

You know how you receive some messages and it comes with a little emoticon.

19:18The person send the sender is trying to make sure that you don't... Yes. ...missinterpret what the message is. It's the LOL at the end of something. I'll give you an example. Like standard English would be Ronnie. Why are you behaving like this? In Singlish, it would be... Oi, why ain't like that? Oi, why like that? Yes, so just straight to the point. How would I say hello to you meeting you the first time here? I guess the most local way to say it is, hey Pierre, hobo. Okay, that's in a dialect, so it's gonna be really hard. Hey Pierre, hobo. Oh yeah, not hobo, but hobo. Hobo. Really good, really good, really good with accents. It's very fun. We did have a lot of fun. By the way, there were a lot of people coming up to Pierre the whole time we were sitting there recognizing him from Crazy Rich Asians, and it was a wonderful experience he said he still can't believe that it all happened. It's hilarious, it's touching, and critics agree, by the way, hoppers certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with the solid 96%. 22:26there's one early in the movie linking hoppers to finding Nemo, pay attention to Young Mabel's turtle for that one, and towards the end, I spotted nods to up. Lightyear and Wally, hoppers is in theaters everywhere today. We were just cracking up at the puns. I mean, when it's a movie about beavers, I got to throw a couple puns in there. Yeah, I have to. Careful. Yeah, and finally, moving right along in TV news, the Robertson family is returning for a new season of Duck Dynasty, the revival, and amidst the humor and hijinks from Willie Corey and the rest of the crew, you can also expect a lot of heart in the wake of Patriarch Phil Robertson's death last minute. 23:27started this blog talking about Singlish, I don't know what you would call the Robertson dialect, but that one takes a lot of practice. Yeah, that one does. Oh, pretty good, though. You nailed it. Thank you. Coming up, Becky Wurley shows us how to beat the rising cost of meat. Don't go anywhere. We're back now with the growing cost of groceries. We have seen spikes in eggs, coffee, chocolate. Now beef prices are jumping, and Becky Wurley has checked out ways to save. Becky, give us some good news. Ryan, and I hope I can, but if you're a meat lover right now, you are not loving the price of beef. The USDA says beef prices have gone up 15%. And it could take a while for those prices to regulate. In the meantime, what can you do when you're craving a juicy piece of sirloin? It's probably going to be our new favorite hack because this made a lot of sense financially. Steak sticker shock is here, like in these videos on social media.

24:27Cut it into pieces and it should give you about 15 steaks. I checked the prices at three regional supermarket chains, and none of them have ribeyes for less than $27 a pound. So to avoid butchering my budget, I give this trend a try. I hedge my local Costco. They do have individually cut steaks that are less expensive than the grocery store, but if I was going to buy ribeyes individually, they're $17.99 a pound. But if I buy this big thing, it's $12.99 a pound. That's a deal. All right, here it goes. Yeah, this knife is good. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 steaks out of that huge hunk of meat. And the price definitely right. 21 pounds at $12.99 a pound versus the $27 a pound at the grocery store.

25:27Even with some fat trimmed off, that's still nearly $300 in savings. And this works for other meats too. This sliced turkey is more than $20 a pound. The least expensive turkey I could find here is still $7 a pound. At Costco, it was $479 a pound. So, the carving knife makes it a lot easier to get. Now to freeze it all. And yeah, you can freeze deli meat too. And enjoy these steaks for weeks, maybe months to come. Now, this hack works with all kinds of meat at warehouse stores. We're talking pork, salmon, ground beef, stew meat. And they do often go on sale, which makes the savings even greater. If you don't have the freezer space, though, go in on a big hunk of beef with a friend. You know, maybe that works for you. You know what they say? Good pork tenderloins make good neighbor's guys. Yeah, I've always heard that. That's a very popular saying, Becky. Okay, look, broaden this out. What bulk buys offer you the best bang for your buck to save money on other stuff?

26:30Yeah, the short answer is meat and dairy and nuts. So, let's go to mixed nuts. They're $17.50 a pound at my local grocery chain. At Costco, they were $6.59 and they're so good for you. Half and half. I go through a lot of it. $2.99 a pint at the grocery store. But a half gallon at Costco is just $3.72. That's almost a third the price. Cheese, sharp cheddar, $8.99 grocery store, $4.39 Costco. And these value propositions hold true at other big box stores, too. For example, Greek yogurt, $179 for a single serve package at the grocery store. And at Sam's Club, it was just 87 cents each. So, you know, buying in bulk makes sense, but sometimes you have to target where you actually spend. Because I don't know about you guys, but I can't get out of Costco for less than $350 bucks. So, I have to target my purchases. Absolutely, Becky. This is great advice also living in New York City. There's no space to store all that. So, share with the neighbor. Yeah. That's a great idea.

You want body and fluidity and this allows you to have that while still locking all those strands in place for like that clean polished finish. Yeah, that's so good. And I love the scent. Like, oh, you look like your hair. You want your hair? It smells good, especially when you're putting heat on it. Sometimes it'll like a smell of a little burn. Oh, crunchy. That'll get rid of that. We've got to move over here because Sabrina Carpenter looks phenomenal at the Grammys as well. Oh, beautiful. And this is what she was using. This is what she was using. So this is a root lift spray. So basically it's a volume and a spray together.

29:33You'll put it on wet hair and then it just adds a little hold and a little volume. And I loved her up to so much because like in a world of slick backs, I loved how soft and romantic it felt and that little low bun. And she still retains so much volume around her roots. And that is a thing to this side. That's okay. That's so good. Yeah, definitely known for her volume. I want to talk about Kate Hudson as well at the Actors Awards last Sunday. What did she use to get this incredible look? So I know we're talking about a lot of hair spray right now, but this hair spray is different because it is really focused on hold as well as sheen. So that is how she got her hair. So shiny and luminous and the right spray makes such a difference. This is from Joyco. Yeah, so this is their volume spray and it has such great shine. Yes, it looks so sweet. Such a great brand. It's a great one for her. I know she looked fabulous. We have to talk about Renate Reins-Ve because she is so hot right now. She is up for best actress at the Oscars,

30:36but at the Gold Globes, she looked amazing. Oh my gosh. That Louis Vuitton gown, she was just looking beautiful. She was dripping in silver and her hair leered that drip perfectly. Her hair stylist used this tool from T3. It's like a flat iron. It has different heat, has such great pressures. You can really sleek out and straighten your hair whether you're starting with curls or coils. And it really allows you to get an amazing silky, straight look without having to do a million passes. So you're not going to burn off your hair. I would have liked flat irons have come so far. Yeah, they were far from the 2000s. Yeah, the 2000s, they really come along with it. And what I love about flat irons too is because you can also use it as a curling iron as well. I would love to curl with a flat iron iron. I feel like the curls last longer. They really do. Well, that's the only thing I know how to use. I don't know how to use a curling iron. It's still working on it. Okay, well, maybe you need to play with this. Yes, because it's made in measters.
