What can I get for you? Yeah, I'd like a number two with fries and it never mind. I just need a bulletproof vest and a bucket of poop! Pull up to the second window and I'll see you next time! Welcome to Trick Time to Go! I am John, what a weird order, man! I'm here to decide myself with the fact that you do this. You did that. Look on your face. You ever just do that to somebody when they're texting somebody important? Just yell random things if they're doing voice to text? I do, but then I don't put it out hoping to attract new listeners and make money from it. Nobody's listening. They turned it off at a bucket of poop. Orskidding. Maybe that was intriguing. Intrigue. There will be poop later, but we're not going to talk about poop here in the first case. This is True Crime to Go. We're going to have two True Crime stories each in 10 minutes or less. The first one is going to take us down to the great stake of Arkansas.

To a town called Rogers, which I think I said... I think I said steak. I'm so hungry. Arkansas is famous for razor bags, which you can make. They'll Clinton. Tinder loins out of. They'll Clinton probably made Tinder loins out of people at some point. Why would you say that? What's wrong with you? You've seen the guy, he just looks like he's somebody. What is it? Stop saying words. Please, I really like having a podcast. I do not make stop out of that one. On the evening in question, 50-year-old Charles Eugene Ferris, because of course it's Eugene, and 36-year-old Christopher Hicks were on the back porch of Ferris' house. They had been drinking, of course. And I'm going to be honest before I get into exactly what happened here. I could have seen you and me if we had drank together back in the day, getting into this situation. I could see my sober self getting into this with the right circumstances. Ferris had a bulletproof vest.

Step one. The question was, does it work? And instead of theorizing and philosophizing about whether or not it would work, they decided to find out the old fashioned way. Well, and the sequence of events matters because of the details matter and because they're relevant. So according to an affidavit filed by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Ferris and Hicks had been drinking together on the back porch. I think that's a very important step one. At some point during that drinking session, Ferris asked Hicks to shoot him. This was what most Southern boys would sit around and no, it's not. But if you have a bulletproof vest, if you have a gun and a lot of liquor, you could see how a leads to be and so on and so forth. So Ferris ended up wearing the bulletproof vest and he wanted to see whether the vest would, in fact, stop a bullet.

So he proposed for this test and the hypothesis was that his friend was to shoot him and he would wear the vest and it would be all fine and dandy. And Hicks complied and the vest stopped the bullet. This was by any technical measure, a successful vest test. However, and this is where the plan begins to encounter some complications, getting shot while wearing a bulletproof vest still hurts really badly. The vest definitely stopped the penetration, but it didn't stop kinetic energy. This is turning into a physics vest. This science test. So this is still going to hurt. It is still blunt force impact of a round, a bullet traveling several hundred feet per second, striking your chest and then getting stopped. So Ferris, what you're told was rather upset when this hurt excruciatingly bad. Yeah, I don't know. I try to teach my kids lessons through life.

Sometimes I let them learn lessons the hard way. You make your mistake and you take your lumps and do better next time. See what I tell my kids is you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. I don't know that I would let them take a take a, I mean, if they wanted to test the vest, take it to a shooting range, take it to a farm where it's safe, put it over a bell, hey, see if it stops the bullet. Like there are so many safe ways to do this, none of which are available when you're drunk. I'm going to say this and I'm being somewhat serious. All right, pretend like I'm not even drinking it. I think you say, like, have you been like, do I need to pretend right now? I'm okay. But I think that if I had a legitimate, like, I don't know, army issued bullet protest and you have a 22, I might, I might let you shoot me.

I mean, they're just, but I know that that's still going to hurt. It is going to hurt. Like, I don't think people understand how fast the bullet travels and anything with that type of momentum carries a ton of force with it. And here's where we get into legal issues. The legal system described this decision by Ferris is an aggravated decision. If I asked you to shoot me and it really hurts, I mean, I'm probably just going to take my lump sum walk away, but Ferris said, all right, now I get to shoot you because you hurt me. And instead of him saying, no, I never agreed to this. Hicks put the vest on. Maybe he felt guilty? I don't know. But once Hicks got that vest on, not only did Ferris shoot him, he unloaded the rest of the clip into his back, the rest of the clip. But into the vest, yeah, or into it. Okay. No, he didn't like kill his friend.

No, he didn't murder his friend, but he shot him several times in the, again, so you're getting hit by that force several, several times. Yeah, we would have a problem. They arrived at the hospital. We're interviewed by police. Neither of them told the truth about what happened. I guess they, to some degree, felt stupid about what they'd done and didn't want to get in trouble. I bet taking that many shots to the back will sober you up pretty quick, though. They made up a story about being on a secret mission. They claim they had been hired to follow somebody through the park and through a wreck area down on Beaver Lake, which is all where all the secret missions take place down there. But obviously that was not true. And they were able to unwind what happened, talking to Ferris's wife and they were both arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault. They were released on $5,000 bond each. And before they release, a judge issued a no contact order between the two men. If you need to clip in my back, I don't think I'm going to need a no contact order.

Yeah. I mean, I feel like it is fair, though. Like if you shoot me once, I get to shoot you once and we're good, but he took it to the extreme. They faced up to six years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. So that's an issue we usually don't get to talk about when we're talking about violent crimes is consent. So can somebody consent to getting shot? And if so, does that hold up in court? Well, I mean to a lesser extent police officers do it every day when they get trained on tasers or pepper spray. Tasers or lasers. You have to, you have to go through it, but you also have to give your consent. If you don't give your consent, you fail the class and you're no longer a police officer. But this steps up the game a little bit. Yeah. Also, don't think it's put any of the cops business if you and I decide to shoot each

other. Well, yeah, well, it ended up being that way because they had to both go to the police. So they, uh, it turns out that consent has nothing to do with it. Believe it or not. So even if you say I told him it was okay to shoot me, then that's not okay. I never could find the actual sentence that they suffered. I assume, I don't know. It was a few months in jail at the most or they're just like, all right, for your punishment, we get to shoot you all in the back with a clip. It's a wild man. I feel like they, they've been punished enough. Leave these a good old boys alone. Completely agree. And we come back. We're all going to be punished with John's poop story. Wake me up when September ends, right? Is that the name of the song? That is the name of the song. So case people don't know this is John's case. I did not new research. I just saw the name and I am shocked that you chose this. Yeah, this is one of those that I was afraid we would get into and then I would just giggle the whole time and not be able to cover it. Let's just get it out of the way. This is Yersey Esperanza Machado Rivera. Okay. Okay. So we can just say Rivera from henceforth. This is an individual that is not the victim here. That is the alleged perpetrator. He is 50 years old. The alleged victim lived on opposite sides of the same split trailer in rural county, mobile homes community in the northwest Miami-Dade County near Miami Gardens and the Opalaka area. So this is a trailer park. But this is a split trailer. Have you ever heard of anything like this? I have not. I mean, I grew up in a double wide, but there wasn't no wall in the middle of it.

Is this split like end to end or down the middle? Yeah, I'm not. The only ones I've seen are split down the middle and there's a door that goes into each side. Right. Okay. So but regardless of how it's split, that's the setup. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's office, the arrest report says that shortly after 6.15 p.m. on Monday, September the 7th, Riviera went to the victim's side of the trailer and began banging on the door. What was going on over there, Jay? Now, when the neighbor opened the door, Riviera allegedly accused her of trying to have a sexual relationship with Rivera's husband, scandal. So she forced her way into the residence and started physically attacking the victim. Deputies reported that before leaving, Riviera, after shoving the victim, letting her know how she felt and letting her know how or what she thought she had been doing, she decided

to leave her mark with what? I don't even want to say it. Well, it's alleged that she threw a bucket containing human feces on the victim. Poop, poop. A witness told investigators that Rivera, Riviera, however you say her name. There's no second eye. It's Rivera. Had previously stated that she defecated in a bucket with a specific intention of throwing it into or onto the victim's face. Face. Talk about pre-meditation. Concon to the moneymaker. She claimed that, again, this started over the potential affair and then there was argument about the smell of poop and then they got in this fight and she threw the bucket on her. Rivera was arrested and charged with felony burglary of an occupied dwelling in misdemeanor battery. The burglary charge was elevated because of the unlawful entry combined with the battery

itself. Yep. She said that she was not trying to throw this on, you know, the victim that she was just trying to simply dispose of a bucket of caca. They called her toilet was broken. She claimed the argument arose over the smell of the feces. She denied entering the victim's residence and denied throwing the feces. She further alleged that the victim, in this case, struck her over the head with a bat during the confrontation and that caused the laceration to her head. She also said she pooped in it on purpose so she could throw it on somebody. So I'm going to choose to believe that story. It's probably something in the middle, but allegedly. Allegedly, she appeared in Miami-Dade bond courts before judge Mindy S Glazer on September 8th and she was ordered to be held in pretrial detention without bond issue to stay away order regarding the victim and assigned a public defender to Rivera during the hearing.

The judge described the case as interesting and involving a bucket of poop. Oh God bless America. God bless our legal system. It's always all charges are alleged and no matter what happened here, there was a bucket of poop on somebody's face. No matter who started it, if it was over in a fair over the smell of the poop itself, it doesn't matter. You don't throw a bucket of poop in somebody's face. Not in Florida, but only in Florida. What if I hit you? I mean, if she did hit her in the head with a bat, does that make it okay? If you hit me in the head with a baseball bat, can I throw a bucket of stuff on your face? I think that it depends on the sequence of events. If I throw a bucket of poop on you and you hit me with a bat, that's justified. If you hit me with a bat first and then I go get a bucket of poop and throw it on you, like that's justified. That's what I'm asking. Yeah. So if the bat's first is the bucket justified. Yeah, but I think if the poop's coming at you and you hit somebody with a bat, you're

good. I don't think that. Yeah. I feel like the bucket's an escalation from the bat. It's better than see I before you set up on the spot. Bucket before bat except all that. I don't know. I don't know English rules or fighting rules. I do know this is just another Tuesday in Florida. I mean, I think that the bigger issue is there needs to be more fiber because if it's not fizz, it's just enough. I don't even know what it's like. If it's that liquidy, you know, stop. Dude, you just don't want people to listen to you. You lost me at Bill Clinton eating people. I'm sorry. That's okay. I prefer shooting each other in the chest with a bulletproof vest on, but regardless. The most surprising part of all that is that both of these things did not happen in Florida. Right. Yeah. The other one happened in Arkansas. How about that?
