A gang of five men has been jailed for a series of cash machine raids that stole 700,000 pounds across Lestershire and nearby areas. They struck nine times over nearly a year, using angle grinders and heavy cutting tools to rip open the machines. The crew operated with stolen high-performance cars fitted with fake plates and a reinforced truck to smash into businesses. Each member had a clear role, from planning the break-ins and buying gear to storing vehicles and transporting them on low loaders to dodge detection. Police got their break in August when the gang based themselves at holiday rentals in Cumbria for three straight days of hits, grabbing over one hundred and twenty-eight thousand pounds. Offices spotted one of their getaway audits on a low loader heading back and pulled it over, leading to the first arrest. Investigators pieced it together with CCTV footage.
