Full Show: Better Week 1 Outcome Eagles Shootout Loss vs. Ugly Win

Ike, how are you feeling brother brother spike? I feel okay. Listen, we are day closer to Christmas Sunday. We're a day closer. Today is the official start of the king of sports. The national football league as we got a game tonight. But it's the boys and pinch stripes that really had me feeling kind of. Oh, that was not good. That was a tough one last night. That was a tough one last night. Yes. All the way back just to break our heart. Oh yeah. And frustrating fashion. Yeah, they never do that. Coco beware. Listen, you don't have an idea who the hell Coco beware is. Yes, no idea. No idea. Yeah. I think Coco behind the glass. Great to have you here today brother. Don't screw it up.

1:00Rojas left a low bar for you to clear. How about doing it? How much of boy? What's going on guys? Oh, there he goes. Louis Coco is going to try to top five and five again as he sits in for Jack. I think after four, Jack will come running through the wall like the cool aid man or something. So it's a big show. First, I want to get to the, as you can tell by the lack of, you know, the glass is clinking in the background. The elephant the room here. We are not at McGurks and Roiers Ford. We were supposed to be here for the rally in Roiers Ford. We wish we were at McGurks at Roiers Ford. Yes. They're always very kind to us. Everyone always great at McGurks. There were some technical difficulties during the midday show. It was decided. It would be better if we were here. I'm sure we will be back at McGurks. You'll know. I don't know. Okay. All right. We'll have to investigate that. Baldi is with us again all season long. So Baldi will join us at four o'clock for his regular Wednesday check-in as we'll have all football season long. We will have the new Eagles inside of the power rankings at 430. And I don't think the rankings are that big a deal. But there is a dark horse that might be showing their face. We'll give that a 430. And we will talk about the Phillies. I'm going to do my best to hold that for 230 because I'm so angry. And I didn't want to start the show off angry. I wanted to start the show off because it is rally and worse for day with the Eagles.

3:02And we will talk about a lot of Eagles stuff today. So you won't make anybody angry with that? Well, no. This is not an angry topic. It's a happy topic because everybody smiles. Happy, happy. And we will talk about a lot of Eagles stuff today. But we know what we're really all wondering about. We are really, we can talk about everything. We can talk about it. It's jailing. Car will be good. We can talk about the new corner back. We're wondering about one thing. And it's the offense and the passing game. That is the enormous question this year. That is where all the curiosity is. Of course, we care about the offensive line. How they are going to be good. We can talk about the new corner back. Of course, we care about the offensive line. How they looked is Seikwon still have it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is about the passing. That's really it. And I know people are going to kill me, which is why I want you to be nice because we've done this show before. But I do think in this particular context, it might mean a little different. So what I am asking, Ike, and I'll give you my opinion first.

4:02You know where I'm going to be on this. We've talked about this before, but I do believe in this one. Is what would make you feel better about the rest of the season? For this game and this game only. I'm not saying I want this for every single game. But for this game and this game only, it would make me feel better about the rest of the season. The Eagles lost, let's say, 3734. But the offense was cooking. And Jalen was bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. Like all the things that all the doubters and all the haters said he couldn't do, he was doing them. And the Eagles lose in a shootout. They lose 3734. But the offense is cooking. Sean Manion's calling the right plays. Jalen over the middle. This, that, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. Over a win. Yet in this case, I'm talking about what would I feel better for the rest of the season over a win in which they win 1310. And the offense looks clunky. And we got to argue about it on Monday. I think the optimism I would have for the season because I would feel like the defense is eventually going to get it together.

5:06But a lot of questions answered about the offense. I think quieting the haters for Jalen Hertz. I think, you know, after losing AJ Brown, the questions about the ride received record. I think all the questions about Sean Manion first time play caller. If those questions feel like, I know they wouldn't be answered after one game. But we would certainly have a clue. I would take the loss to watch the offense play like that on Sunday over a win where the offense looks terrible. Yeah, I don't know what to do with that, man. That's, um, you would not. Of course not. Of course not. I don't think any same person would. Because winning is what ultimately matters. No matter how many times I say this, winning the football game is what ultimately matters. And this is a defensive oriented team. And honestly, I feel, I feel, I feel for you. I feel for you. I feel for you and people like you.

6:06You feel for me. I do. I do because you can't. You can't enjoy the game. And the result with just the Eagles winning. Like it has to look a certain way for you. And I get that. You, you are alone. I think the Eagles maybe guilty of this themselves a little bit. I think it's not crazy. They don't want to lose. But I don't want to be. I never want to be fixated on that. That is a luxury. That is a luxury. Winning the games or what always matters. The defense is the strength of this team. And if they were to win 13 to 10, I'll tell you what, you're right. We would debate the next day. Yeah. And I get all of that. But if that's a smothering defense and there's turnovers there, there's sacks there, that's what I expect to happen. Given up 37 points to the Washington commanders in the first week with this defense, I'd be concerned that there are going to be issues with the defense this year. The offense may put up 34 points just because Washington's defense is old and decrepit.

7:07And nobody else having any real playmakers over there. But our strength of our team not playing well and getting gone through like a hot knife with the butter. I don't want to see that. So I'm a little, my mind is built a little different. And I'm not, I'm not telling you that I wouldn't find solace in 37 to 4. There's a lot of 34. Yes, I'm not telling you that I wouldn't be like, well, the world is in falling, right? Like at least they scored some points and then Jalen a good. I'd be okay with that, but losing the Washington in a shootout week one. That's still a loss when I have a bigger goal in mind. And these wins are the wins that we're supposed to have. We got to put them in our pocket. You got to beat the Washington's at home. You got to go on a road and beat Tennessee. You got too many other tough games that you got to fight to the nail for. You start giving away games to teams that are inferior to you. You're going to be looking at 10 and 7 and wow, card and possibly not getting in at the end of the year and all that for the sake of the offense looking better.

8:11When I know the offense eventually is going to look better. Well, you don't know. Yes, you're alive. Yeah, no, I do know that. No, I don't know if it's going to be top five. That's different. Right. That's that's different. See your bar is so high. You got to be pleased. You don't even know what the bar is. You don't spend a lot of money on this all. Just say it. You're paying all these offense. So high, but listen, you spent the money on the office. You can't get it back. It stays too late. Yeah, it's too late. Yeah, did that money spend a go to the defense somehow? 215-5929494. The question is very specific. What would you make you feel better about the rest of the season? Now, I know a loss feels bad in the moment. But what would make you feel better for the rest of the season? Eagles lose a shootout. 37-34, but the offense is cooking. Jalen looks great. You get to tell me I'm an idiot. All those things. That's all baked into it. Or a win. 13-10 in the offense looks clunky. Right. We know what clunky looks at the offense. I don't need to describe it. I think we're all very clear on what that looks. That is the question for today.

My life begins again today. It's your time. How about that? Yeah, NFL. Glorious day. Glorious day. And I got a lot of texts over the last 10-4 hours or so. Baker. I felt Baker filled. So, you know, I think I'm going to be okay. Yeah, take the loss on that one. I'll take the help. I mean, yeah, it's. I'm not. I've never been a Baker lover. It's never. It was never about Baker. I know. We know you're a Jalen Hayter. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you know, you know, you know, you're a minute. I root for the laundry. 100% And I have to say I have to. No, I can't. We can be happy for our guy Baker with 165 million, even though he's not going to be here. Well, because if he gives me some, sure, I'll be happy.

10:12Right, right, right, right. I have to get some credit to the new guy that you guys plugged in last minute because Ray disappeared on us. He's at least trying, you know, he proposed a trade to me today. Me too. He just turned everybody in. Nobody I want. That's the problem. I'd be willing to help him out, but he has nobody I want. So, yeah, I give him credit. He's trying. I thought about making the trade with him. We had a guy draft a bad team and then he ghosted us. I got a guy named Alex take over the team yesterday. He did propose a trade today of running backs that I almost accepted just to give him a little boost. You know, make him feel like he could get something done, but you're right. You got to give to get and that's not it. I got to get this job this week. Yeah, yeah. So call me call me at the buy. Call me at the buy. So. Yeah. I will feel much better about a 13 10 win. Then at 30.

11:1234. OK. I'm not. I'm not going to take any solace out of a loss, especially to the the 140 year old Washington football team or, you know, the commies or whatever stupid name they have. They're terrible. So. If they if the offense looks clunky in week one and they win the game, I kind of expect the offense to look clunky for the first three or four weeks of the season. They are still working into a completely new offense for them. And what I really am most looking forward to seeing is how how much different the running game looks and not just not just better because I expected to look better, but but how much different because the offensive line is not only healthy, but the offensive line is is running basically Mike Shanahan's run game, which was the best running game in my lifetime in the NFL. So I am looking forward to that.

12:12And I would be. I look, I wouldn't be throwing any parties for a 13 10 win and a clunky looking offense. No. But I have expected to look a little clunky because they're still. They're still figuring these things out. I mean, we know from what. Stay. On said in 2024 that they basically look at the first four weeks of the season is pretty season anyway. But let me see this can. Let me ask you this. Yes, we all expect the all events to look clunky in the beginning and then to get better. We hope that that's the hope in the expectation. I'll know the hope. But but imagine the way you could project out the rest of the season. If all of a sudden the clunkiness that you hope goes away, maybe is not that clunky. If the questions that you what I'm not going to call you a hater like I did, but the questions that you had about jailin as a quarterback and what he can do in this offense. If not answered, but certainly given a much better clue as to what the rest of the season might look like. You don't think that there is any that that that part of you would look at the rest of the season and go, you know what?

13:17I expect the defense to fix whatever's wrong, but but I don't know the offense. They might actually just be better than I thought you don't think that's there at all. Well, I remember that last last year in week one they were moving up and down the field. Before the lightning stopped the game, that certainly wasn't a precursor to what the offense looked like for the rest of the year. And get one hurts head to writing touchdowns in the first half against Dallas before the lightning stopped the game. That wasn't a precursor to what the offense looked like for the rest of the year either. So, you know, both teams every team this week is the one week of the year where they've had a month to game plan over a month to game plan for this game. So, after this, you know, your game planning goes from from week to week and you're you're you're game planning for the next opponent. They've had wheat the game plan for for the commanders and the commanders that had weeks to game plan for the Eagles. They have less tape to go. Why? Obviously because they don't know what to expect.

14:20So, it's hard to take anything out of the first week other than, okay, we want one and always better than all in one. And oh, by the way, it's a divisional game. So, not only we want to know, but we want to know in a division. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters. And then it's matter of which coaching staff, which coaching staffs are better at preparing their team to play weekend and week out. And I just happen to think that Nick Serionis, you know, better prepared to prepare his team to play weekend and week out and virtually any coach and the league. That's why we had like the fifth most penalties in the league last year. So, that's okay. Thank you for the call. Grab the seat, Ken, back. It's safe like he's in the right frame of mind again. Yeah, I think Ken is. Yeah. Well, it sounded logical there. Oh, as opposed to he's been illogical for a while. Well, the Baker thing, hey, look, if you're a regular caller to the WIPF game show, there's a certain, you feel what we feel sometimes in when you have a take and you say something's going to happen. It doesn't happen. Everybody's like, yeah, as soon as Baker signed that contract yesterday,

15:23I mean, credit to Ken, his name was the first thing to pop into my head was, oh, well, we're not getting Baker. Like you said, and I do believe him when he said that he's not a Baker guy that he just saw the tea leaves. Oh, I agree. He's a jail in here. Yeah, he's just. Yeah, yeah, I agree. Just your average ordinary jail. Listen, it's just like you. No, I'm not a waiter. No, no, I mean with the Baker, but you love a Baker anymore. Yes. So I get them I understand it. I love Baker. I love Baker. So I liked even to you two got a hold of it. Dude, I love Baker. Dude, that dude. So he brought up, Ken brought up the Cowboys game last year. He's right. The offense looked good until the lightning delay. There was a big difference though in one thing that happened in that game offensively that did not happen very much the rest of the year. Yeah. In that Jalen, Jalen ran a lot. Ran a lot. Ran a lot. Yes. Yeah. Now I don't have that. I mean, I wish I wish I remember the game.

16:23Yeah, really was the offense. Yeah. Well, if I remember correctly, they were not called runs. No, yeah. It was on sale. Yeah. Yeah. They were broken plays. But but it really, I mean, not that you want your quarterback scrambling if you can't find the first guy all the time. But if the, I mean, this is just the old playing with Michael Vickin man thing is that the defense that I think there is some truth through it, even though I'm thinking about a video game. If the defense thinks that you can take off, it creates a completely different dynamic. Oh, sure. Yeah. You have to play defense differently. Yes. Yeah. Mike was obviously one who forced you to do that. I'm pretty sure Lamar Jackson. Yep. For sure to do that. Jalen. It certainly was a big part of our offense two to three years ago. Mm-hmm. It'll be interesting to see. I don't know if you get on. Listen, I think his legs are important and he's going to take off at times. But there is a natural progression to all these guys that run early in their career.

17:23You get to that 5, 6, 7th year. You aren't running as much. Yes. Unless you're superhuman like Josh Allen seems like you're going to run forever. Yes. It's closed down a little bit. It's it's tailed off. Yeah. Lamar tailed off. I mean, he didn't got asked about it in Baltimore. Now, he said he was hurt last year. Yeah. But, but, but, that he told all of I mean, it just does with these guys. Well, either that tells off or you tell off, right? Right. Like, if you don't adjust, I think, you know, with all that went around about Kaepernick is like Kaepernick. He never became a, a, a, a, a, a passer. No, he didn't. And efficient enough pass. And we can, Cam, Cam's a, Cam Newton's a great example. He's another one when he lost a step. Even I think Carson to an extent, when Carson at post injury. Yeah. When he wasn't quite as mobile. Yeah. I think it made things more difficult. I don't know, I agree. I agree. Those guys live off all schedule plays and strong arms to make something happen.

18:23And once defense is figured out, can't play that way anymore. Two on five, five, nine, two, ninety, four, ninety four. What would make you feel better about the rest of the season? An awesome offensive performance. Eagles losing a shootout or the Eagles win 1310 in the offense. Look, ugly Derek and pay all the year on WIP. What's up, Derek? What is happening? Fellas, what's up, D? What's up, D? You know, living the dream without the money, man. That's all I can tell you. That's right. Spike, the only way I would be okay with a loss with a 3734 victory is this. You and like, Gili, you know, and the camera and the rest of the people that not fans of Jaylin was just praising them all week. That would be the only way that I would be okay with it. Other than that, I could never, I could never be satisfied with a loss. I, I, I mean, I hear what you saying. I will think it's a terrible question, but I, I could just never be like, leave a loss feeling like, wow. You know, I mean, especially the first one at home.

19:24Yeah. And I'm thinking about going down there and paying a nice penny for some tickets. 3734, even there when I added to it, man, I don't care how many yards herps those four. Well, that is like it. I was going to say four, four touch, four touchdowns, 280. Yeah, no interceptions. No interceptions. 63 yards Russian. Yeah, I don't know. What do you say the next day when you come into that? Dude, I say it looked awesome. Okay. Yeah, I, I think if you go back, if you go back through the history of his games, what I've been here, when he plays like that, I give credit where it's due. You have a problem giving credit. Well, I remember on the, is that what you all wanted to see game? Right. Right. My answer was like, yes. That's exactly what I wanted to see. And I'll be, I'll be honest. We're all guessing how well he's going to be able to play in the offense. I really have no idea. I have my best guess. We all have our best guess. Yeah.

20:24But I have no idea. I think getting that answer though, it might not mean absolutely that he's going to look great the rest of the season. Having the answer that he really, we would have evidence in front of us that he could really do this. And Sean Manion might really know what he's doing. That would be a really big answer. Not just for this season, but you're not extending him over one game. Man, you start thinking about that. I'm not saying, you're ready to give him the extension. Well, you think about the next three or five years. Right. Oh, that's what it might look like. They are, our quarterback situation might not be up in the air. I think there's a, again, just one game, just the clear unders, but yeah, I get it. I get it, Derek. I get it. I think my thing with you though, Spike, I really don't think that you were Jaylen Hayder though. And I think a lot of people like they get mad when the people, I'm not going to call it by out, but certain callers do call in and they go overboard with Jaylen Hayder. And I think that's when you start taking shots. I'm saying like, you might call it out.

21:25He's the best, he's the best quarterback in the league. Like as much as I love Jaylen Hayder, I know for a fact, I don't care how many super blows he got. He's not the best quarterback in the league. Just for my eye test. Like, is he a winner? Yeah, absolutely. But as far as like throwing a football and, you know, doing this and doing that, I'll never go and say he's better than, you know, the guys who they got up there. But I think when callers call in and say Jaylen is better than Josh Allen and he's better than this person, the better than that person, that opens up for Spike to Enthiglio or the other way for call in and be like, you know, he ain't. That's not. I mean, don't French. Yeah, throw Fritz in there to the Eastwood. Well, don't just blame callers. Elliot, thank you for the call, Derry. Elliot's take yesterday. He doesn't know if Josh Allen could have come in here and been done with Jaylen did. Yeah, it was psychotic. Something tells me he probably wish he'd had that one back. He doesn't. He's never wish he had any of that. But I talked to Jack yesterday about it.

22:27He sent me the clip and I said, what I want you to do is listen to the next segment of my voice trying to recover from yelling at him over that. However, the fills. Look, they're not going to win every game. Andrew Painter is not going to look great every game. Valley, Folly, you put it together. A good stretch there and he finally had one. Yeah, he had one and you know what? The fact that he got through what he get through six innings, five innings, whatever it was. The fact that he got through it, he wasn't a three and a third, doesn't tax the bullpen, all that sort of stuff.

25:29And a nice little thing that the fills battle back and don't lose meekly six to nothing. But this base running thing is, look, I have been yelling about this for three years now. This is not a problem just from this year. It is the most infuriating and I think insulting thing that they do. Last night, it was Marsh, it was Bome and it was Sosa. Now, the Bome one will get through in a second because maybe he had a bad angle on the ball. I don't know. There's no outs, maybe he wants to tag up, get to third. Okay. Marsh, what are you doing? Like, what's he doing? No, it's you. Bome had one of those a few weeks ago where he was like, there's second and third, nobody out. Just watch the ball get out of the infield. What are you doing? Because I'll tell you what the problem is. And he apologized afterwards, said it was wrong, I'm glad he took responsibility. Nobody is thinking about what they're going to do before it happens.

26:30We learned this in Little League that what you and what the manager always beat into your head in Little League and then in high school is, hey, if this happens, what are you going to do? If that happens, what are you going to do? If they look like they're always just reacting instinctually and not like they haven't considered, what should I do if this happens? Yeah. Because Marsh, like he starts running the run. And then, and then, and then, so, Sosa, I love at Mundo Sosa. We all love at Mundo Sosa. Yeah. You're not Barry Bond, you're not Aaron Judge, you're not Sammy Sosa. If you are hitting 220, if you hit a long fly ball run, and if you're going to pimp that fly ball, it better be in the second deck, man, because he should have been on third. Right. That changes everything. And this is, it's brain dead and like it's going to cost them a playoff. Yeah, listen, you've been saying this and I don't think anyone can argue that it's one of those things that you, you know in the back of your mind.

27:35Oh, please let them get through this game without beating themselves. You know, some blunder, some bonehead mistake, some self-inflicted wound. That's, that's what's always in the back of your mind, especially as you get closer to October, the games are obviously more important, but you don't have very many games left. And you're still doing stuff that you were doing in April and in May. And these are veteran players. If it was, if it was Crawford, maybe you could chalk it up to over super-intention. He just, he's trying to score whatever, whatever. But like you said, I didn't go back to literally ball hit in front of you. If nothing else, you take a step back was or you just freeze. But you don't do as Barry ahead and just take off running. To Brenna Marsh is 30. I think it's Mundo Sosa's 30. Alex Bome is 30. They've been playing baseball a long time. Have a meeting. Yeah. You know, we can blame the players, but I just, I want somebody and to, to pull.

28:36Brenna Marsh does that. He's out of the game. Right? Alex Bome, I think I'm honestly. Sit him. Sosa's the one I think deserved to be pulled. And we love Sosa. We love Sosa. But he's the one that deserved to be pulled. If they were going to pull anybody, Brandon Marsh, I think you just had a brain cramp and just went because there's just too many. I told you there's no excuse for it. There's no excuse for it. I look at Sosa and I say that is what people get on ball players about doing. And that's why they get on ball players about doing it. You don't think it's going to hurt you at some point, but that's when it ultimately does. And you're not an everyday player to be the, I can only imagine if I got a penalty for celebrating or something. They gave an offense and automatic first down. I'm as well just walked into the locker room. Don't even go to the sideline. They may shoot me on the way to the sideline.

29:37And you know, and I say that as a guy who was a role player that is put in a position to help those other guys out there. And you're asked or you're being, you've earned that role because you've earned it because you've been a smart player. And you make the most of your opportunities. Don't start acting like you arrived. And you can do things you see other guys doing just because they're star players. And Mundo Sosa should never have that happen. No, never have that happen. You are not and Akunya did it. We don't like it when stars do it. Exactly. And dude, if that ball goes out of the park, if you want to dance around the bases, right after the ball is gone out of the park, have at it, celebrate. But I also, and like I know this sounds, you know, petty of me, but I see him on second base celebrating. Yeah, you should be kicking dirt and pissed off that you're not. It's not a third. Exactly. Like their walks are down, Bryce's walks have been basically been cut in half the last few weeks. And they're runs down from five point eight to three point four. They're not always going to score runs, but this is what this Phillies team does. They get their backs against the wall. They do that little thing you hope they always do. And then they start succeeding and they go, okay, we can go back to the game. Okay, we can go back to what we did before. And that grinding, look, it's going to be harder to grind against good pitchers than bad. But the Phillies have a habit of doing this against bad making bad pitchers look good too.

34:4437 points and one night, no, we not gonna feel good. So I'm never sacrificing a win for how my team looks. I don't know how many times people can't get that through their head. I know it's a question. You know, this ain't you. You know, we got to have the meeting. We talk about it. You're not going to have to get the people in. I love it. You know, I'm saying football is back. But I'm never ever ever. And if you out there doing that, you're insane. Because like I said, we never sacrificing wins for looking good. Guys, what is we talking about? And I get it. Everybody want to feel good. Oh, offense scored 30 points. Yeah. Clap it out. We love good shot. Manning the guy. I don't care about none of that. Yes, you do. I got to win my football game. You do. I got to win my football game. You care. The whole thing. The whole thing. The whole thing. But this is what I mean by like I care. Okay, go ahead. Go ahead. Well, to say we're a defensive football game that, you know, is a power running game. That it's great.

35:44But you can still do that while the offense looks great. There are examples of that. Baltimore, not last year, but prior years. Good defense. You know, running based offense and the offense still looks great. Passing Buffalo has looked that way. Seattle last year has looked that way. I don't think to say, I think sometimes we think it's a trade off. That this is one of the issues I have with LEDs. Like, well, we're a defensive football team that runs the ball. Okay, but that doesn't preclude the other thing from happening unless you think that we're not capable. No, it's just that I understand what you're saying. And you got to have the ability. And this is why I don't think we, honestly, we don't highlight enough when it comes to Jalen in the past game. And again, it doesn't mean it can't be better. And there's areas to improve upon. That's the beauty of this thing is that there is room to grow. But being comfortable or okay with winning how you're winning versus looking for another way to win

36:48is what I think sometimes separates the Eagle fan. Right? Cause there are some fans that want to see the explosive offense. Want to see you put up numbers, especially when you got the talent there to do it. And then there are fans that's like, man, as long as we win, I honestly, I don't care. We, you know, we'll get them next week. We'll score more points next week. But getting the win is ultimately the only thing that matters. We've got to accept. Jalen being a quarterback is not going to always look the same way. That's what I've accepted. I just, I just, I finally got out of fighting that for years. And it's like, well, this is just what it's going to look like. Right. It's like this is just what it looks like. I just want to real quick. I just want to piggyback off the conversation that kind of guy. I'm like, man, you, you would eat y'all, you always go, man, I tell you, y'all, y'all, y'all be having takes out the wide zoo. I got to bring this up. I'm just going to give you this fight. And I know this is like, this isn't, it's going to be like a Jash Island question. I want to address that.

37:48But it's just overall questions. Okay. Do you think being a Buffalo Bill fan, and let's say Eagle fans, right? Do you think a Buffalo Bill fan would have traded with the Eagles has had the past five years over what they've had? Yes. Yeah, without question. Yes, but I also think that's what I want to see. But I also think, Corey, that the Eagles would trade their quarter back for the bills quarterback in a hot sector. But they give keep the success. But they're on the whole. Here's what they win trade. They win trade. The lack of team success. I agree. I agree. But, but see, and then hold on once that Corey, the clip goes online. Everybody argues about it, whatever. I want to be clear that Elliott started that by saying the Eagles wouldn't have been able to win the same, at the same rate with Josh Allen as they have with Jalen Hertz, because he doesn't think he could do the same thing. 38:49I think Bill's fans would kill for Super Bowl. They would throw for eight yards for Super Bowl. Of course they would. But if you also asked them, hey, okay, would you give up your quarterback for our quarterback? They would all say no. So, I think both things can be true. Yeah. Yeah. But this is how you also got a view that, this also you got a view that, right? Look at the scenario, right? So, with Elliott said it was crazy, but like when you said we would have five Super Bowl, that's, that's, that's too much. That's how to control. You made me mad. He made me mad. No, but look at, but look at, because if you look at the situations, right? I don't even know if we had, if we had Josh Allen in the past five years, we might be in the same scenario. Let's like, let's, let's, let's cycle analyze it, right? Real quick. If you look at 2020, right? Or 2021, first year it's heard as a starter. They're losing that Buffalo game. I mean, they're losing that, that, that, that bus game with Josh Allen, where Jaila Rager and them that, we, we know. I hear no talent yet. Yeah. Yeah. But we still losing that game. All right.

39:49In 2022, we go to the Super Bowl. We know where Josh Allen doing when he's deep past my home's going to play off. And Josh Allen playing any better. But hold on. They want her dead in the Super Bowl. Corey, but what you're doing is you're taking away all the other different things that would have happened during the year that, that put them in a different position. Like, do we win? We win 14 and three. Okay. Yes. But last year are we in 2023. Do we only win 11 games in 2024? Like, they, they, just, like all the things that happen, they go into it. The only year that put, no, maybe you don't have to play through it. Yeah. We're quick, we're quick, we're quick. The only year that you could say it could have ended different was last year. That's the only year. 23. I mean, now, now, now 2024, 2024 to office, when past an office could have been better. Of course, but even if you look at 23, right, we lost a game to the Cardinals, 38 to 34, with our, because our defense was bad. And not getting it like the year that, but by after the shoe, why give you all that?

40:49But I'm saying, if you add Josh Allen to this team over the past five years, hurts in your, the only difference that might have been an outcome would have been last year. Well, and also you wouldn't have a question about your, your quarterback moving forward, which the, I don't, I don't, hey, listen, just real quick, close, close in this real quick. If somebody come to you and they be like, oh, this is why you guys see how evil fans away they are. And they'd be like, oh, you could trade Val for Rihanna or Beyonce or Brady, whoever, whoever your question is. Do you want to do that? What that's my wife. What like we, we, we, I don't know. 44:56from Australia. Now, me as not a professional football player, obviously. The only frustration for me is fantasy football. I can't make a, you know, I'm trying to make a judgment about a guy who might be questionable on Sunday and I got to make a judgment. Yes. But as players go and the quality of the game, right, we have this Australia game where the Rams are flying in the day before. The 49ers are there for a week. Their body clock is going to be all messed up when they get back. Games on every day of the week. They've been gone through, you know, the schedule, the way that you guys did. There was less, less moving around, right? There was Sunday Monday. Was there Thursday even? There was Thursday. There was Thursday. Yeah. Yeah. What do you think it eventually does knowing what it did to your body even when you just had a play on Thursday? What do you think it does for the product overall? We love football, but does it take all this moving around games and overseas and playing on different days? It takes a toll on the overall product.

45:59I think it takes a toll not necessarily moving around, but as far as the way that the game is structured in a preseason, I think the first couple of weeks, you see more special team touchdowns, you see more mistakles, you see more long touchdowns in general. And that's a result of guys not hitting and how lenient and favorable it is for player quote unquote safety. Sometimes you have to be able to hit people and maybe that extra game can be beneficial. But all that being said football season is around and we're loving that. Will there be more touchdowns and more excitement for the fans? The fans probably won't even recognize it because it's actually more exciting when more touchdowns. But as far as overall product, we know that this is not going to happen in November. Right. Yeah. And I think we're starting to watch the game differently, right? It's almost as a fan, you're allowing for your team in some fan bases, not us here in Philadelphia. We don't care if you just started. We want you to win every week. But but teams are so slowly ramping up.

47:02You heard Seiko on set a couple of years ago that teams are treating the first month of the season like it's the preseason because none of them actually tackle or hit during the preseason. And this thing is going to go to 18 games, right? At some point. And what they're trying to do is they're trying to balance having the more games they have and the different nights they play them on by giving them putting less stress on your bodies in the all season, right? The training camps. I'm not saying that I agree with them. I think that's what they're trying to do. They're trying to put less wear and tear on your body during training camps. That's why there's no more two of days. They've limited how much contact you can have. How many times you can wear the pads during the season? Like I think that's where the CBA sort of bargain. If you're going to make us play more games, then we're going to get less time to actually when you get the beat up on us. I'll say this. If it is fair, I'm okay with it.

48:03So you play a Thursday game as long as the team that you're playing the next week has played a Thursday game or something comfortable. Same amount of rest time, right? Same amount of rest time. So you're going to play a game and I'll show you. Make sure you play one in Brazil too. All of us can have equal playing ground the next week. But when you have two teams and now another team is on their normal schedule and you're coming back, that's when I think that it gets unfair and you just have to suffer through it. But I don't think that that should be a thing. I think that everyone should have the same amount of time, same amount of rest. If you're going to play one game that you have to play two, that's what I think. The first game of the season, I think is a little more fair and balanced now. The Rams. Yeah, everybody's been off the Rams and the 49ers are choosing definitely how to handle going to Australia. The 49ers have been there already for a week in the Rams. I'll be interested to see how this works out a day before the game flying that long. I'm assuming that they have science behind why they're doing it.

49:03They do. They have a method to what they're doing. I'm just saying it'll be interesting to see. You got two different case studies there. One team has been there a little while trying to get acclimated and the other team says, now I'd rather stay on my normal clock and just go play it next day. Yeah. The thing that I think about with the Australia game is less so about this game and more so about the next game, right? So San Francisco, their players have adjusted the Australia time, but then they got to come back and play another football game. That's the other thing. Yeah. How many days do they take re-adjusting to over here? Whereas I think the Rams probably deal with that less. You know, they'll go there. They'll play a game at 10 o'clock. Their body clock time, 10 o'clock a.m. then they'll come back. I don't know. Yeah, I don't. I think the thing with the day is the thing on the different days of the week. The way that I think about it, maybe affecting things is the one thing, I would say, I'm similar to in terms of like an NFL player during the season is I like everything to be. I have a schedule. I like things to be regular.

50:04I like routine. I do this on this day, this on that day. I'm not a sudden when you're playing on a Wednesday and a Thursday and a Friday, that routine is all messed up. And I just wonder if the NFL is so big, I wonder if it can get degraded a little bit each time they do these things and we just wake up one day and it doesn't look the same. No, you may be right. But here's the thing though. These boys are making so much money. Well, right. They don't ultimately oppose to it. Right. Yeah. The NFL has to be careful because they're getting greedy. Sure. They're getting greedy. And just look at all the sports leagues. More games does not mean better. Yeah. Right. So you have to figure out ways to get the dollars higher without putting more stress on the product and also the players, right? So I think the NFL is in that range where after this 18 goes up that it got to be a no more, but they're going to keep pushing until the product gets people get used to it and

51:09comment. And now you're in the 2024 game season and now it's okay to miss a home game. Now it's okay to, because they have so many, it'll be fine. I think you got to expand the rosters. Well, at some point, that means they want to have to pay more playing. No, they don't. They don't do that. Exactly. They don't want to do that. But I would get rid of the practice squad and make them all having players you can put on the practice squad, just make them on the active roster. Well, it almost seems like they kind of have and that you can move guys up and down. It's just the differences that another. And you can say, and you can stay on the practice one longer. Yeah. 30 years old on the practice. And you can get paid more. That sounds crazy. I should still be on the practice one. Yeah, I, you're, now there's a massive difference between the number of games in NFL team plays and every other sport. But I think it's worth noting that in basketball, all that anyone talks about to improve the, the, the, the league is, they should play less games.

52:10Yeah. Yeah. Let's play off games. Yes. Baseball, I feel like it would probably benefit if they play. I love 162 games, but the league, they can use 142 would be good. They could, they could, they can cut that thing down. You stop for about 64. 64. Yeah. You're on baseball fans to riot. You're on baseball fans to riot, man. Nobody watching baseball. You talk to us. You with the April major. Yes. This is Phil and I get it. You have your hard core, but I'm just saying if, if you can't say, you know what? Listen, I don't care. We, we, we, I just, I'm not. I'm from Chicago, socks fan growing up. I go to, I go to a sock, and you get these socks. I get to look at a, a socks and Indians game. Okay. they scored 32 runs between both teams. Wow, I was sitting in the outfield sleep. With 32 runs, you're like, is this real? Yeah, is anybody pitching? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The game to be on like 16, like, I don't know, 16, 15 to 16, or 17 to 15, something like that. And you were asleep. Oh, there's another one. That's another home run, yeah, over to Ivy.

54:12Cause I'm sitting out there watching the left filter, like, dude, what is he doing right here? Well, whatever, not like I let you hate on baseball all hour. Oh, I messed up. I'm robbed enough to fans. That's what we're doing. That is what we're doing, Billy. You came to the right place, buddy. I mean, yeah. So, uh, so we play on Sunday, a lot of questions about the Eagles. I think one thing that, that let's start with receivers, giving, yeah. Well, one thing that everyone always said while AJ was here, is we have two number one wide receivers, Devante is the number one, really, and AJ is the number one. But we will get to see whether Devante is really a number one. What is your belief in Devante as a number one? And what do you think the challenges he's going to face this year as the number one guy that he hasn't faced before when he played with AJ? Just better players, right? So we have AJ a lot of times you're going to get the second best corner. So we all know that. But that slant route, that's a must or that critical play that's a must

55:16is going to become the Devante. Now, do I think that Devante is well prepared for it? Yes. I think he gets the most separation. I think that he is built for this, especially when, when you're the number one receiver, you get number one priority when it comes to play calling too. So what does that mean? Devante and Smith more so in motion. Now he gets a little bit more help coming between the tackle and the guard or now he gets a running start on the shallow cross rather than being stable at the expedition before, right? So all of those things can help him out as well. But I think Devante is well equipped when it comes to just getting open to beat a number one receiver. Now, AJ is a guy that can just raw ability, just his physical strength to be able to get open. But Devante can do that in a way that it doesn't have to be beast in a guy, but he can beat him with his feet. He can beat him with his brain. And I think that's something that the Devante can do and will do. Yeah, I think of Marvin Harrison, uh, senior, you know, Marvin Harrison was not very big guy.

56:19Wasn't going to overpower you as a wild receiver, but he was so quick and he was so precise with his route running that that's how he used that to his advantage to get open. He had good speed. Didn't have blazing speed, but have good speed. But Marvin Harrison was a, um, it was a master when it come to run and routes and he and the quarterback and paid many was on the same page with every play. Yeah. And Devante has the ability to go down and Devante is going to make people scared because Devante is a builder. A 40 art dash is not the right test for Devante. Devante is more of a 400 runner, right? When you go back to his high school days and that 200 400 runner. So those guys is bill as they get down the field. So that is something to be afraid of with his ability to go up. But when you look at a guy like Chad Johnson, Chad Johnson was never a big guy. He was slender, but he's able to move his body in certain ways and also had great feet. And those are the attributes that Chad Johnson had. No one ever questioned, could he be a number one?

57:19And Devante Smith is that and maybe just as good at route running. Yeah. You know, one guy that that people have compared him a lot to, JSN having the year that he had last year. Yeah. If you had a question about Devante as a number one, what about his game or his body or whatever, what would be the question you had about him in this spot? It's just in a situation where a defense knows. This is the only scenario that I can foresee that could be a problem. When a defense knows that it's third and three and the only thing that can beat you is a short route and now they put a big physical guy there that's going to bank inside or do something of that nature. I think that's the only time you will have trouble. But I think maybe we don't rely on a slant in that situation as much. Maybe we open a route tree a little bit more and not play sticks, which we do, which we've done in the past. If we need third and fourth, we run in the third or third and fourth, we run a seven-yard route. The third, you know, something like that just beyond the sticks in order to get

58:21a completion. But with Devante Smith, you may have to take more of a shot or you may have to call a play that gets everyone open rather than depending on a slant like we have in the past. Yeah, I look at it this way also. I think when a defense knows you need a big catch and where the ball is going, can they still get the ball to you? Yeah. You know, that's your number one receiver mentality as well. You know, sometimes we measure it rightfully so in numbers. Everybody wants to see the bottom line numbers. But I also look at it as who's that guy that quarterback is going to on third and seventh when they need to pick up a big first down or down in the red zone, third and goal and they need to pick up a touchdown there. Can you get him the football and can he make place? Steve Smith was not the biggest wide receiver. Can't tell you he was the number one wide receiver. Yeah, but Steve was a pit bull though. He can't out physical. No down by it. But he still was five nine. Yeah. He still was five nine a buck 80, right? But he just he had that dog in him.

59:22Yeah. He had that dog in him. And I think now, Smitty does it a different way, but Smitty has that dog in him. Yeah. While Steve Smith may have been a pit bull, I look at Smitty as a Doverman Pinter. Okay. And anybody knows about Doverman Pinter. They're just as dangerous. They can get on you very annoying. Yes. Very annoying. They can get on you. So I think that's what Smitty is going to show up more than anything is that we're going to we're going to begin to have that same confidence that we would have in AJ on big plays. Get him the ball. We're going to have the same thing as me. As Smitty's going to make those catches. He's made them before the only difference was you had AJ on the other side. Yeah. Now he's got to make them on his own, but he's made the actual plays. The big games. He's made them. He shows up every time. Yeah. And the here's here's something that I think the fans can get used to is that Smitty is a more well rounded overall football player than AJ Brown. When it comes to just his approach to the game. So him being able to catch more passes out of slot and being more willing to.

1:00:26You're going to see that and you talk about JS ends year. His year was the way that it was is because there is multiple clips of him lining up in the backfield him lining up in the well next to the tight end or him being able to move around. AJ Brown does not have that in his ability. AJ Brown is line me up here. Do this type of a guy Devonte Smith knows the offense well enough to be anywhere. And I think that'll help him out. So how much I mean, he's the guy thrown him the ball, but how much of an adjustment. He was so many of the balls that we saw AJ catch were really just AJ beating the guy. Right. I mean, he had man coverage. Jaylen saw he had man coverage. He gave him an opportunity to beat the guy might not be the same thing in this one. So how much of Devonte success will rely on Jaylen playing. So a different brand of football than he's played in the past. All of it. And that's the, and that's the, that's like the nature of it because of the, the way that he goes to play football the last few years is, okay, AJ Brown is to the left.

1:01:31He we run him on a stop route. We run him on a, you know, a slant. We run him on a go. It's very, very elementary, right? So you're going to have to have Jaylen hurts to go to a different level in order to get Devonte the touches that he needs and also for the other guys to be involved in the offense because, not even Wicks can get open, but you have to be able to utilize him in a certain way. Hollywood Brown can get open, but he has to be utilized in a certain way. And the more mature and the better quarterback play, the more these other guys can get touched and touches right now. The Philadelphia Eagles is a graveyard for the third receiver. Whoever the third receiver is like when, like, it's a graveyard for that person. Just think about our third receiver the last three, four, five years. Has anybody been productive? Well, yeah, Jahan Dawson, really a 15 catches line. It's a graveyard for that person and that goes to the quarterback when, when, when quarterbacks are at the top of their game. The third and a four receiver, the second tight end, all of those guys get balls because

1:02:36sometimes the defense dictates that. And if you're playing the game the right way, you're going to get to that person, but when you're not playing the game the right way, you're going to force it into a situation that a guy gets the ball and complete is intercepted or it's an incompletion or you run for it. Well, it does seem like they've built the team that way. I mean, I don't want to keep comparing to the Niners, but the Niners, like, you know, they didn't have a number one by the receiver last year. You know, Purse Hall was hurt most of the year was a kiddle, I guess, to an extent, but it was McCaffrey was probably the number one right to see if it was all over the place. And it does seem like the Eagles. It's not like they went and signed a bunch of all pros, but they did go and get a bunch of guys who have had successful years in the league. Elijah Moore's had successful years in the league. Don Tavian Wicks has had successful years in the league. Hollywood Brown has had successful years in the league. You don't think they would go get all the other guys. If it does seem like they don't want to make up for AJ's catches with one guy. They would rather have three guys get 30 catches than one guy get 90 catches. And that's the way this offense is really designed to go.

1:03:38It was never designed to be. You look at the from Mike Shanahan, Ren, were rods, a rod Smith, Shannon Sharp, easy hit McCaffrey back in the mid 90s when they were winning back to back superbows. It wasn't to just predominantly throw one guy to ball. It was to spread the ball around and hand that thing off the TD to rail Davis. Yeah. And let him run it. And everybody is sort of they, they, they take her with the offense a little bit and put their own little spin on it. But for the most part, it's an equal opportunity offense. Yeah, it should be. Yeah. And football should be, it's not always equal opportunity that I would say because the person that is the most prolific offensively, this is how it often should be run. The guy that has that needs the, the fewest touches to score touchdown should be number one in getting the football. Right. We knew that was the signed jack. We knew that was the signed Jackson. It took him about five or six touches to score touchdown. So he gets the priority of the targets or the lion's chair. And then it goes in order after that. And so if the quarterback is playing the game the right way, it'll lead to a guy having

1:04:4240 catches. That's the third receiver, 50 catches. I think our third receiver thing is out there. Wendell this year. It does seem like it. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. I mean, literally out the one from him. I mean, the idea that he's not going to be productive. No, yes. I think they hope that's the catch. Yeah. They didn't draft this kid to put him in that slot to not be a part of this offense. He, the only way he's not a part of your office is if he's not effective out there as a player. I'm saying they're going to go into games trying to get him the ball at times. But that's why they picked him. Well, yes. Yeah, that's why you drafted him. We will, we'll ask Jason about McCuy lemon, what he's seen, but also coming up next. I do want to present to him a situation that I want to find out if Jason thinks is fair or unfair that you're going to have to judge. There will be a visual aid to this as well. To McCiellum, we have not really seen very much. So I would ask you what you've seen since he's been here, but it really just hasn't been much. When you saw him playing college and you saw the Eagles take him, what was your impression of McCiellum and what do you think ultimately in the best case scenario, his role here in Howie Shines? Well, so I was fortunate enough to see him live. Michigan, USC played. I still call games for Michigan. So, and I get a chance to see a lot of the film because they're on offense and you get

1:16:03to see it when you're watching film. So I saw him know him pretty well. The thing that he does well, contested catch guy most of the time, he had a lot of production. The way that he got the production that didn't always translate to the NFL though. So he's aggressive. He likes to attack the football. But a lot of his routes were basic routes. They weren't a lot of head fakes. Making a guy go left or right or just creating a bunch of separation. He was having a lot of contested catches and he was being skimmed open in some ways. So his role will be a guy that's going to be predominant in a slot that needs maybe a little bit hope to start to get skimmed open. Now he can be effective after the catch. He can make some contested catches but he's going to need assistance getting open. Yeah. What do you think about the learning curve? Because I said you guys have the most difficult position outside of quarterback to learn in

1:17:05a rookie season, translating or transitioning from college wide receiver to the pro game. Everybody doesn't come from that type of system in college and getting open versus defenses at the NFL level. What do you think some of the things he's going to have to get better at and so far from what you've seen of him? What little have you seen from him? The line of scrimmage. The line of scrimmage and the thing that he hadn't got the rest of his, hadn't been practicing. And so that is where me personally, I got hit in the throat a few times by showing Brown say this is not going to work. Yeah. Back at the line of the year. And he's like, no, this is not going to work. So you start going to the drawing board thinking like because you've experienced it and you come up with different ways and I figured out maybe at the late later my first year or that man, the second move, the first move doesn't work in the NFL. The second and third one does and how I can make a guy think that that was my first move or things like that. So he needs time.

1:18:06Yeah. I don't necessarily know the playbook can be like Strenuous for a guy that's in this position. Usually slot receivers, the good ones are usually not first year slot guys. They're really good ones because there's so much nuance to it. You have to know when you're hot, you have to work with the left tackle at times. You have to know the adjustments in routes. If it's cover two, you do this. If it's cover one, you do this. All of this is in one particular play and there's a bunch of different plays like that. I go in and bake versus coverage. I go out and that takes time. And so to be productive and to be the optimal McCoy limit is going to take a year to it. Man, I'm thinking not having that practice time out on the field. Have you built that trust with Jaylin to where he knows, not he knows, you know where Jaylin needs you to be at every time because Jaylin can read it one way. He reads another way. Yeah. And turnovers happen when you aren't on the same page. And that's and like when you so that could that could be possible.

1:19:07But there's the thing he's a first rounder. So there has to be something in the ego's mind that thinks he can play outside. You have to be you think he's right to be there at some point. I'm not drafting a do a slot receiver. I'm just not doing it unless this do is frickin' lightning in the bottle. And I know that he's like got the size of Steve Smith, even though he's small. Like, you know, like if it's not like that and he's explosive like that, I'm not drafting a do even smiddy played on the outside. Because he was he was a little dude, but he was mentioned about the monster. You go there's more dudes in NFL that's afraid to see Smith and him as blind back. I'm just saying the truth. Like I know him. I've been around him outside of football. Me too. The dude's low off. I love him. That's my man. That's the one you say he's touched. Yeah, he's touched. Yeah, yeah. Well, I hope I mean they got the Devonte Pick right and the Eagles have been good drafting

1:20:10for the last five years or whatever. But the one position I would say they haven't been great. Right. I mean they've made some mistakes in the first couple of months. They got to go on with that Jason. It's production, right? So the production thing in college, it's hard to evaluate because if you see a guy that have 90 catches or 80 catches and has 13 hundred yards, you're like, oh, this dude is a baller. Look at how he got those catches. How many defenses can play four corners against their four receivers at USC and how many times was he in the slot in those situations? How many times was it off coverage? And when you look at McCoy's lemon tape, majority of his catches are in off coverage. Yeah. So he's getting a free run. You're not getting a free run in the league. We have Mike Mayock on every week during the season. And Mike said he was his number one wide receiver in the draft. And I just like, not an expert, 100% not an expert, but usually there's a trait with

1:21:13a guy that is the number one wide receiver in the draft. And I just wonder what his trait is. Well, when it came to, when it came like just being aggressive and being tenacious and that's the skill trait, a skill trait of not giving up. And that's where I have hope with McCoy lemon because that's what you see on the film. Usually when you have like this competitive edge to force your way back to the football and refuse to lose, that usually translates into learning how to get open at this level. It usually translates into refusing to be denied. So even though he has all of these things stacked up against him, he has the trait mentally what I've seen on film to be able to overcome it. That's what I said about Jeremy Maclin because Jeremy Maclin was in an offense with Chase Daniels at Missouri where he never saw Man the Man. Like never saw it. So when he came here and he was getting hands put on him, I knew because how competitive he was, eventually he'll get better at it.

1:22:14And we had those conversations with my man, I'm always the fast, I can always get open, I can't get open. It's because the game isn't like that and you have to have something in you that teaches you the game. And this is the learning curve in the NFL. And by the way, you bring up Jay Mac, he's an often forgotten when we talk about the receivers. Yeah. Yeah, Jay Mac could have been special here. Andrews cut it short and then he left the Friad and see I don't think he wanted to play for Chip anymore. So he got out of here. Yeah, chiefs. Yeah, he had a thousand plus yards. Yeah, yeah, and then he got hurt that 2014 season here. Dude, that season as a wide receiver, go back and look at Jeremy Maclin 2014 as a wide receiver man. Well, I mean, bombs away down to feel him and Nick foes Mike Vick everywhere. On lemon, one of the guys, one of the things that you guys both touched on is not only is he learning everything is that if his quarterback had been here in the system with the coordinator for a few years and a quarterback knew everything like, like was was was was, you know, hit the

1:23:18ground running. Yeah, I think not that it would make McCoy lemon better this year, but it wouldn't be two people figuring things out of one time. Yeah, I think Jalen's figuring things out at one time too. I worry about lemon that we're going to be eight games into the season. You'll have 14 catches and everybody will be one of the best. Especially when I score points. Yes. It's going to put a brighter light on him. Yeah. And we're already we're already bracing an A.J. to have a great year this year. Right. So all that stuff puts a light on the end of all fence. Yeah. First one receiver being drafted. Smitty has the new number one guy Jalen, like it all does. So it's you can say it's fair. What's unfair? I'm just saying it's going to be a storyline that is going to be covered. Did you mention? Did you mention you covered the Michigan games? Oh, yeah, I was there. Did you cover this week? I did. Did you cover this week? I did. I mean, speak up. Speak up. Speak up. Speak up. Speak up. Speak up. Speak up. Speak up.

One of the biggest changes for the Eagles, offensively, is new offensive line coach and then a new scheme, really, for the offensive lineman. And one of the things we've heard from the offensive lineman, almost all of them, is they like this. And they think this will make life easier on them a little bit, the way they're doing it now. Why would an offensive lineman look at what they're doing now

1:29:26compared to what they did before and think that their life might be easier this way? I'll tell you why, because there's going to be 6 to 8, maybe 10 plays a game where really all you're doing is selling the run. And you can just tee off on guys. It's up to the quarterback to say, Juan, drop back. But you're going to get a free run at defense lineman. This week, the Ron Paine, Javon Kinlaw, I mean, these guys inside could just tee off on these guys. And then the boot, rather than just being a shotgun every playing, every pass, you've got to be good. You've got to be on. You better perform your techniques perfectly, because anybody that escapes quickly is going to affect the play. And so there's 6 to 8, 10 plays where they're really going to get a chance just to tee off and just go whack somebody pretty good and just sell that run. And that's one of the reasons why they think it's going to be a little bit easier and it is. But by the way, just watching preseason,

1:30:28like everybody is under center. Everybody's running this style of offense right now. I don't see anybody that was sitting in shotgun the way you know, Kevin Petulo had been sitting in it for most of the year last year. It's all changing. So I have so many coordinator changes and head coaching changes this week right now. Yeah, talk about the effectiveness of that running game working and how that's going to marry with the passing game and how they're going to be able to use that passing game more effectively all for that running game, primarily from an under center standpoint. Well, you know, honestly, like the last 10 years, Safe One, whether I've Penn State, you know, with the Giants or with the Eagles, he's been a shotgun back. He's been next to the quarterback, five yards behind, or an inventory back. Really for the first time in his whole life, he's going to be eight yards deep. And he's going to have, you know, he's going to let the plays really develop. Kind of, you always kind of feel the hole. You see, you feel it then you see it. You see the second level. And that's when Safe One gets his big runs,

1:31:30like he did two years ago. He runs for 2,000 yards. He was really manipulating linebackers as he was coming to the hole. He's going to get eight yards now with a chance to do that. And so it's going to be interesting to see how Safe One adjusts. There's always a little bit of a marriage between the back and the line. That's what preseason and the offseason has really been about Chris Cooper. You know, if I know you've met him, he's a good teacher. He's a good guy. He's a form of player. He's got everybody's attention over there. It's different to the style. But everybody is, you know, really, I think bought into what they're doing. But the key is, can Safe One and the backs really, you know, figure this thing out from eight yards deep. And then if that works, the play action pass is going to pop. It's going to open up for sure. Well, oh, sorry, go ahead, I can't. I was going to say, Bart again, you anticipate Safe One being involved in the passing game with this off. Is it, or is it, A, do you think he does you have that ability and B, do you think that'll be some Sean Mane and corporate somewhat of a,

1:32:32not I guess as much as McCarford gets in the passing game, but maybe a smaller version of that. I hope so. He's a good receiver. The Giants at times put him in the slot. They put him out there and more than just screened passes or check downs. They put him in routes. Yeah. He's got great hands. And so I hope they use him. I mean, I think the best offenses in the league right now are using their backs in the passing game. And so, you know, you watch your mirror gibs in the passing game. You watch the cap ring the passing game. There's no reason why Safe One can't go out there and catch, you know, 60, 80 passes this year. I expect him to ball the, you know, it's interesting. One of the things you brought up about Safe One is the offenses he's played in because he's never been perceived as a back that just goes north south, right? He's a guy that that sort of dances a little bit and he's not a guy that's just going to run straight ahead. But then you think about the offenses he's played in and it's not really been the signature of what the offenses are. I really do think the way you explain it.

1:33:33I mean, I think if this works out, this could and Safe One adapts well to it. It really could extend his prime. Like the, you know, the amount of time that Safe One is really a dominant running back. If this works for him, I think he could, he'd probably change the trajectory of his career. Well, I mean, you know, the guy, I don't think he's lost any speed. He can still run away from you. We saw it at Times Lashar. He's always needed a runway. He's not a guy that's just gonna, he doesn't have the quickest start stop that a lot of guys do. But if you give him a runway like two years ago, he's gonna take it to the house and he's just gonna outrun people. But, you know, I think he spent most of his probably only golf course. That's what he likes to do because he did not have to re-imperage any interest. And so he's come to Philly. He's been basically injury free. Yeah. And so when you're only about to get a chance to just take four or five months off and, you know, go tee off, you know, for 30 or 40, you know, afternoons a year on the golf course like he does,

1:34:35like that's just rest on his body right here. And he didn't get hit in the preseason. I would think he's gonna be very fresh, very healthy, very fast and very productive this year. Well, I remember I spent time with Parks Praiser, the quarterback coach this season. And they spent a lot of time on the footwork. Because if the footwork really is very, very key, everything from, you know, faking the wide zone to handing off the wide zone to, you know, the back passes from the under center,

1:35:37like it's a lot of footwork. And, you know, just talking to Parks, he's like, he has worked hard at this. Like I think he's very committed. I think he sees what Matt Stafford just did, what Sam Donald just accomplished. He's looking at what some of these quarterbacks are doing in the league where Jared Goff has been doing and Detroit. And I think if you want to be a top five offense, and I'm sure, you know, Jail is no different than those guys, you've got to get under center. You've got to do the play action pass. These, if you're not doing this right now, the way these defenses are sitting back in these, you know, two safety shells and taking away the deep shots, like you're not going to get the deep ball in the league unless you can really run the ball from under center and then just play action pass and get the effects of that play action working. I think Jail has seen a film of what this thing is supposed to look like to see where to go with the ball. I think it's going to be easier for him to get the ball out of his hands and see the progression of one to two. Like I don't, it's going to, in play action,

1:36:39you really have to worry about getting the three. I think one to two is pretty drawn up in most of these cases. And he's always been a very accurate deep ball thrower. I mean, you think about the touchdown to Devonce and the Super Bowl against the Chiefs. You think about some of the deep balls to AJ who's not over the years. Like he has got a good touch on the deep ball. He's going to get a chance in this play action passing in to take those shots. And you know, if he connects on, you know, the percentages that I think that's probably in his head right now, I think this thing is going to have, I think we're going to see some real good life. And really, we're going to talk about probably generally in a different light than maybe some of us have over the last couple of seasons. Ball the, the Eagles have the most talistic defense in the NFL. I think so. I think they, you can put ramps up there, you know, fair and dot or whatever, you know, is ready to play. The Rams are right there with their defense to front to depth, what they have in corners. I got, but I think the Eagles are better at linebacker than the Rams. They don't have Zach Bond.

1:37:39They don't have Jihad Camp left. They're ready to explode this year. And they don't have those two monsters inside. They might be a little bit better at safety than the Eagles. That's the one weakness. They don't have much depth at safety. And so if anything happens right now, I think there's a little bit of a question mark there. But overall, from the depth to the past rushers to the corners, I'd say the Eagles are up there against anybody right now. So ball the tomorrow night, the Rams and the 49ers play. And if I know two things about Brian Baldinger, one football to travel guy. So as much as you've traveled, what do you think about the 49ers deciding to get to Australia, you know, days and days before to adjust? And the Rams decision to just get in there and play the football game and get out. If known what travel does to your body and the adjustment that it takes, who do you think is doing it the right way? I think the 49ers are. I know the Rams have done this only east when they've gone to London and they've won two games over there.

1:38:40Going west is different. Across the international date line, arriving that morning, the worst jet lag I ever had was going to the Merrick Cup races in Perth, Australia and landing at Sydney and thinking like, I just got hit by a mat truck. I don't get jet lag. I usually could just roll. That was the worst ever. Not even drink the whole flight. So that maybe that's something to do with it. But, you know, it was a vacation. So I don't think Miles Dare is doing that. I hope so. I think it's a mistake. I really don't know. This is not going east to London. And I know it's 11 hours from London, you know, to get to London. And I know it's probably 15, 16 hours to get to Sydney. I think the 49ers did this right. I think he's put it off when they check off tomorrow night. Hmm. Are you, are you, I mean, the Rams are massively talented on top of a team that was, was very good last year. They didn't get to the Super Bowl. They were very good. Yeah. The perception is it's sort of like the Rams and everybody else.

1:39:41Do you think that's right? Or do you think there are other teams in their class? Well, I mean, I think Seattle is in the class. I think Philadelphia, you know, can play with them. As this offense really kind of gets going. But, you know, the big question mark is, you know, that staffer was really the runaway MVP of the late last year. At age 37, it did take a single snap in a pretty season. And just, you know, went through the whole 20 games. And was the MVP. Can you expect a guy at 38 to do the same thing again? Like that's the question, because if they got to go to Stetson Bennett or Ty Simpson, and for any period of time. And in years past, that staffer has missed some games. And so that's the question mark is, that's a lot to ask for 38-year-old quarterback to duplicate what he just did. If he does it again, then there's a class in the league, because he's just that good. And the way that he can, whether it's the no look passes, or the stick throws right in the, you know, the teeth of the lion, the dent of the lion right there, the teeth of the defense to Puka and Devante.

1:40:42Like, there's nobody that is willing to make those throws in the middle of the field the way he is. But it's just the trust he has in his arm and the accuracy he has. If something happens to him, then just whole thing can go sideways. All right, Paulie. Well, we're looking forward to a great year with you. The Rams coming into the season. You get them going to get one of their rivals. Are you buying them? Are you buying the Rams as good as advertised? See, I think they're going to be good. I don't know if they're going to be as good as everybody thinks they are. Right. But I don't know how you can't be good unless they get injured. Well, I think, you know, you know what I mean? Like, how can they not be good unless they get injured? Well, well, Paul D. He said is the right is absolutely correct. I don't think you can just, you assume that Matt Stafford's going to be great. But you get to a certain age. And I don't know if you can just assume that at some point one year, it's not going to be there. Well, it takes us to hit.

1:42:44Yes. Especially with him. He's older. So while he's right, you get him knocked out for a few weeks. Say it's even four weeks. Hey, what is that for? We could curve. Yeah. And then be what is that due to your record and playoffs that I put you on the road versus you would have been a number one C with a by week. Yeah. All right. So that can affect your, your, your ability to get to the Super Bowl. If this team isn't healthy all year long, that's the only thing I can really see is that if they're not healthy, then you got to, but if they're healthy and click, I don't know how they don't click. How Matt the Stafford knows that offense in and out. But they're already playing. Yeah. They're good last year. They're a great last year. The only real changes are defense and really what they did is just add talent in the secondary and add talent. If not for LeBron and Jalen Brown. Yeah. The Rams may have had the greatest offseason to any team in sports. Incredible. That's offseason. Yes.

1:43:44And when you look at those two players, to think that you, you got rid of Jereverse and somehow you upgraded upgraded. That's crazy. And they get two, I mean, two pro bowl corners and one all pro and one pro. And that was the weakest part of their defense last year. They should be pretty good. They should be pretty good. But you got to, you still got to win the Super Bowl. Yeah, better games. You got to do it. You got to do it. How excited are you for real football tonight? I'm geeked. I'm geeked. I'm geeked. I got to listen. I got to put my hate of raid hat on the night, man. And be a Seahawks man. Yeah. And I don't need AJ. I don't need AJ going for 130 and two touchdowns tonight. I don't need that. So I look, everyone just, I think just assumes that Devante will be a very good number one receiver. I don't think anyone's sleeping on him. And then I think when it really caught on is when we noticed Ike warming up to it. I said it took me a little while. Yeah. I got there. And then after a year or so, we were going to move to a different song. But like there's so many people that say we love 530 Creed. My kid likes it. We couldn't think of another song that was good enough. So here we are a couple of years later still singing and creating. Yeah. There may be, there may be people out there who wish we would move on from Creed in 530 and sing something else. The problem they have is we hear from enough people that they love the song. Yes. So yeah, he's been a big part of the success of this show since he's joined the show. He has one thing that, you know, Ike has mentioned it before, but you know, I think about what the show could be in the morning, but it really isn't until I talk to him at 11 every morning where he will be able to hone in what I'm thinking or say that won't work or that will.
