Turn your mic on. Okay. And will it let me say? Come on, body, sing it. Hold me now. I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking. Maybe six feet ain't so far down.

Hold me now. I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking. Maybe six feet ain't so far down. I'm so far down. It is the WIP afternoon show. But I expect in Fritz, two keys to that, Vanny. One, you have to be willing to be vulnerable. You gotta let everyone know that you can't sing. It doesn't matter. You're not going for a record deal. Doesn't matter. Everybody's having fun here. You think we can sing? We can't sing. That's part of the fun. And the other thing is, I tried to tell Buzz this because Buzz used to be like all sing loud before away. Yeah. So what that allows you to do, let you belt it out without overpowering it and letting everybody know how bad you're saying. That's true. Yes, like Packet is like, home and now. It's a you do it like this. That's not what you want.

So the Twitter question of the day is brought to by Mark Struler's Being a Birds Fan Takes Commitment this season make the biggest commitment of your life. I'm the engagement ring of your dreams and Mark Struler's actually don't have a Twitter question because we just started the show, but it would have been something really compelling. I would have asked Ike what he thought the percentages were. He would have thought about it for a minute and would have come very close. So there you go. There you go. There's the whole experience. So Rams and Niners tonight, this one, I wasn't excited for last night. Excited for football. Yeah. But this one, even though it's a first week game, even though it's in Australia, these two teams have enough coming back, know each other well enough to where this could be. It doesn't have to be 37, 31 or something, but this could be a really good game tonight. Yeah, this guy should have a little juice. This is a little bit of a rivalry with these two teams. You know, the coaches, histories with each other.

Yeah, I expect this to be a good one. They're fighting that division. They saw Seattle eat by last night. So you want to make sure you keep pace. No one wants to fall too far behind in the arms race to win NFC West. So I'm interested in and honestly, what San Francisco looks like tonight. Because I think whether the Rams, whether or not I believe the Rams going to be there at the end, they're going to be a good football team regardless. They don't even have Aaron Donald tonight. But the 49ers is one of those teams that no one is really talking about them like they're afraid of them or like they're super bowl contenders. But because of the coaching and these are the type of record on projects he loves where there isn't much spotlight on him. There's low expectations because that really shows his coaching genius and these are the types of teams that he winds up winning the NFC West with. So this will be interesting to see how San Francisco looks tonight. Absolutely. And I think we play San Francisco.

We do. And the division. Yeah. I think the second to last game of the year, it's the Niners and then the giants last two years. Yes. Yes. I think the Niners, the Niners, I think their talent is underrated on offense. Now because it's not what it was, right? For a minute, when they had Debo and they had IUK and how like their receivers. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Tight in, running back. I love. Well, and they do have one of these years Mike Evans is not going to be good anymore, but until. That's right. They do that. Yeah. Yeah. Until he's not good, you have to imagine he's going to be good. I respect him. And here's the other thing on offense. And I think it comes down to one player, generally, why they're underrated on offense because Christian McCaffery is one of the best backs in the NFL. And he has, you know, a little bit like the way that NBA players, when they get older, figure out a different way to be great. That's McCaffery now. He's not nearly as explosive as he was, but because he's such a great pass catcher, a great route runner. He's an excellent player.

George Kittle is back somehow after having that horrible, like injury last year. Yes. Yes. But Kittle is back. He's one of the best tight ends in the NFL. And I think one of the the things, the reasons they get underrated is I think quarterbacks underrated. Like I don't know how many times Brock Pertie has to be good for people to just think Brock Pertie's a good quarterback. Yeah. You know, when he came back last year and they were doing fine with them, they came back. There was a five, six game stretch where they the best offense in the NFL. Yeah. In part because of him. He's a good player. Yeah. Now, he's, to me, I think he's earned his stripes. He's already been to a Super Bowl. But I think the Mr. relevant tag that comes along with him won't allow people to view him like they do the other guys. Well, he has, you know, when you think it's more shanty-hand than it is him. Yes. And some of it is, right? When you go, when he has to make the throws, like he does, making the throws, yes. When you go back, go ahead and look at Jimmy Garoppolo's record in the regular season of playoffs and his stats under shanty-hand. They look remarkably like Perties. And Jimmy G, I thought, was a little bit underrated too, but you're right. And one, I think, I think actually Pertie suffers from, at least nationally, some of the stuff that Jalen suffers from in that none of Brock Pertie's physical traits are special,

or he wouldn't have been the last pick in the draft. He doesn't have a special arm. He doesn't have special legs. None of it. He's just good at playing quarterback. And he's figured it out. And he's added a dimension to that shanty-hand offense that Jimmy G did have is that he can move around and he's a little bit of a cowboy back there. Take some chances. He's a good player, man. I think he's a good player. I'm with you on that. Yeah. I like Brock Pertie. Yeah. Oh, right. It's Fritz. It doesn't like Brock Pertie. I like Brock Pertie. Before we get back to the phones, 2.55929494, I was reading today, I went through all of the season predictions on NFL.com, ESPN, CBS, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And the question for the Eagles, is everybody sort of sees them the same way? And because everyone is talking about the cowboys being better, they think the Eagles are ultra talented. They have questions about the adjustments on offense. And everyone settles into that 10, 11 win thing.

Some of them have nine. Some of them have 11, but they're all right around the same thing. They're going to be peep for the NFC's. The question with the Eagles is, I know this sounds dumb, but it's the truth, is everybody thinks they'll be good. Nobody at the moment is predicting that they'll be great. And the difference between them being good and great, the answer lies in the receivers to resure, but really lies with two people. Sean Manion and Jalen Hertz. And because from a talent standpoint, yes, we're not as talented as we were last year with with AJ Brown. Sure. But sure. Again, top heavy. Yes. But like as far as overall roster talent, top to bottom, they are one of the two or three men. They're more talented than the Buffalo Bills. They're more talented than the Kansas A Chiefs. They're more talented than the C-Ox. They're more overall, you know. Although boy, I tell you, we're at the M-JSN again.

Oh, he's a monster. He's a monster. He is a monster. Man. I just think that is the question. We're all in on good. You listen to all our predictions. Nobody on the stations at 13 wins. Nobody's at eight wins. Well, maybe by Sunday or maybe by tomorrow, they by 445 tomorrow. But that's just really it is. And I really think overall, yes, does McIleman have to be good? Yes, sure. But really, it's Manian and Jalen. And they, I think, are the swing guys. And if those guys, if Sean Manian is as smart and capable and ready, as Jeffrey Lurie and how he roseman Nick Siriani think he is and if Jalen hurts, can adapt to this, like we all hope, they can absolutely be a great team. They can absolutely be a great. And if they're not a great team, one would guess we can all, whoa, might be the offensive line. Nobody, we would guess if they're not great that that thing didn't work out.

You would guess that. Well, if the Eagles don't work out, they should. If the Eagles aren't great. And I were to say to you, if I were to say predict why they wouldn't be great, nobody would say the defense. No, I would be surprised at that. Yeah. It would be rare that you would find somebody to say, well, maybe Seikwans cooked. We think he's probably fine. It would just come down to that. See, that's what I'm going back to. And that's how I think they're going to win this year. This doesn't, this doesn't minimize what you're saying about Jalen and Sean Manian. Because I still think Jalen is going to have to make big throws, latent games. He's going to have to make good decisions with the football, get it out of his hands, and make sure that all fits stays on schedule. But I think this is a, not a 2024 Seikwan offensive line type of season. But that's what the offense's identity goes back to. I think they look at the offense, right? You look at the offense and you say, who's your best player on offense? It's Seikwan Barclay.

Yes. Seikwan Barclay is your best player on offense. I don't think it's debatable. Unless you want to do the Lane Johnson thing or we got a lot of fun with it. Yeah, I'm not even doing that with linemen. So I think if that line can hold up and block this year, I think Seikwan is back to being a 1,400, 1,500 yard rusher. That's going to allow Jalen to be a 3,500 yard passer, 25 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and we're going to be all for running. That's the way it's going to be. It's going to be to me getting the ball in your best player's hand and it's no slight to the other guys. That includes the quarterback. But Seikwan is the best player on the offense side of the ball. I think Jalen is going to have to be clutch, latent games, third downs, things that have been a fit. Yes, a fish. No three and owls. Yes. It's about more than not turning it over. Yes. It's about helping the team move the ball.

Yes. Yeah, I agree. I'm not doing the whole just we are averse to turn over. We're not doing that risk averse. We're not doing that. You got to run the offense the way it's supposed to be right. Yeah. Well, instead of doing the touchdown interception thing, if you kept the same touchdown interception ratio and he threw for 800 more yards this year than he did last year, we're all guessing it's not because they're down 20 to three and they have to throw. We're going to see what I want is 10 more touchdowns. I don't care if they throw them or they run for them because there's no way they're running for them without him passing the ball better. There's no way. And you're right about Sequan because when you look at all the position lists, even though Sequan had an off year last year, on nobody's list is Sequan any lower than the fourth best running back in football. On no one's list, you have Jameer Gibbs is always ahead of him. You have Bijon Robinson is always ahead of him. Aside from that, you go either Derrick Henry, Sequan, McCaffrey, it's those three are next.

Yes. So he's rarely and he is. He's the best player and that he is still one would guess he is still in his prime. Still got good juice in those legs. Yeah. Yeah. And he had and Baldi brought this up for a guy who has had such regular injury issues before he got here. We've been very lucky with Sequan. Yes, sir. We've had a hamstring here and the where he's come out of the game for a few plays, but he I don't think he's missed a game due to injuries since he's been here. Nope. So two on five five nine two ninety four. Yes, knock on wood. Dan and Southampton, you're on WIP. Hey, Dan. Hey guys, how's it going? What's up, Dan? Love the show. You guys get me home every day. Appreciate it. Oh, thank you. We're going to talk and complain about the Phillies because you know, you work all day. You open your phone. You find out that they lose by putting up one run after putting up 11 runs by 12 hours prior. That doesn't make any sense. Yeah. We'll move past that. I just want to real quick pivot to a loved hearing that recording from the Boston fourth radio. I'm glad that they're not the only ones that are hard on quarterback.

Yeah. Yeah. Well, Boston might be crazier than us. That's going to say, yeah, that's the one sitting at Carive us with it. I mean, you have, we joke about Jack not liking the Phillies. You have afternoon drive hosts in Boston openly not liking the teams legitimately saying I am not rooting for them. That they are psychopaths in Boston. I have a lot of respect for them. Go ahead Dan. Sorry. No, but I checked this out though. Can you imagine and let's play a hypothetical for a second. Can you imagine if last night that was Jalen and he's put three receptions and he has a terrible clear quicker and all that. Can you imagine how much he would be lit up and nationally? Yes. Yes. Everybody would tear that apart. I mean, I think we're all going to agree there, right? The hate towards Jalen's unreal. Well, but to be fair though, Dan, everyone nationally today is questioning whether Drake may is good. Is real? Yeah. That's the bad last year and the whole stat about he hasn't, I don't think he's beat him winning team in the last two years. So Drake may is getting leveled today.

He is. Yeah. That's true. That's very true. And then just a quick pivot back to the Phillies. Yeah. You can't lose to the Astros just before you go down to the braves. It doesn't make any sense. So it's an exciting time for Austin and Philadelphia. No questions out. But there is definitely some frustrating things that have happened with those Phillies in a couple of days. No questions out. Yeah. I mean, the Phillies at this point, at this point, it's hard for me to get too excited or too angry at anything for the next two weeks. But unless they blow the division, they get into position, they do something stupid. At this point, I don't like doing this the whole year, but at this point, it really is just we play off series. Yeah, we got to go in the series. Yeah. Go at this point. I don't want to say it, but I had to be the first one to say it. Because you're in. Well, no, I'm going to say I'm, we certainly want home games, the CBP, but there is something to more pressure being on them playing here.

You really, Elliott said that too. I think there is something to it. Yeah. The energy sometimes isn't right in the building. When they don't score early, we get tight in the building. Yeah. Like we've been in there. We've been in there for these games. That's the expectations. Not 22 anymore. Yes. So in the one thing, about 22 spike, they started on the road. Oh, really? Yes, because they, yes, yes, because they're the wild cars. Yes. So I'm not saying it's what I would prefer. I'm just saying I'm starting to, if that's what happens, I'm saying to myself, I'm convincing myself, maybe, maybe, best for them to be on the road. They can go out there and play like, you know, I know Chicago is crazy and they got good fans. Yeah. But I just, the last few home series we've had, we, we as a fan base do such a great job trying to build the energy leading up to those series, New York and Los Angeles. And we're there. We're there. Crowd is packed towels are waving and what do we get?

Like what do we get? Like what do we get for it? Well, disappointment. We got the one short, we're home running game was a game too. I believe it was game one against the match against the old was game one. Yes, against the match. It was only hitting the whole city. Yeah. See, yeah. That's what I'm saying. That's the only moment we had. Yeah. No, we lost that game again. We won the next game on the cat. There was the Bryce Homer and the Cassie Homer and the Cassie hits the double the win the game. The, the, I think once a team, this is, I'm speaking for Philadelphia because I remember this because the sixers is the same thing. Once a team is expected to win here, the crowd is really like when it's going well, they can crush the other team. You can crush the other team. And it's going poorly. It is, it's horrible. We watched players, Philly. And the good part is so good. I've mentioned to you on the Ricky, we're rewatching the six or Celtic series every pod we do another game.

So we just did game six. Game six was in Philly. They win 106.93. And my recollection of the playoffs last year was just the next series. Yeah. Right. It was horrible. It was a home for the Boston game when things are going well. And we're cheering. We want Boston and, and, and beat is nodding his head. Yeah. Dude, that's great. But when things are going poorly and, first thing is silence. Yep. And then the boo here and there. And that, like, and the players feel it. There's no doubt. Cassie shouldn't have said it totally right though. But he, yeah. He was right. Yeah. He was right about what it's like here. Yeah. All right. Pat and Denver throw you a bone. You're on WIP. What's up, Pat? Yeah. It's a total vibe thing. I mean, when, when, you know, the, the crowd gets silent and you feel it, right? Yeah. It's a total vibe thing. So, um, it's almost like the silence, the silence and the nerves is worse than the

anger. When they're booing, at least they can motivate the players, players say, F you, you know, like inside, if they don't say it out loud. But the silence, the nerves, that's what they feel. The anticipation of them being upset is almost worse than them being upset. When you have tens of thousands of people that just get quiet, you're just like, Oh, there's something going on here and everyone gets nervous and it gets ugly real quick. I've been there so many times. So yeah. I see Fritz in one of these games. Oh, he's the worst. He's the way he's horrible to watch a game with. You think you want to watch a Phillies game, a meaningful Phillies game with Jack Fritz? No. The best part of the Phillies game watching it with Jack is winning decides to walk around for two hours away from you. Love him. Wanted to watch the Phillies play off with him until I did. You don't see him. And when you can't, when we're at the road games and you can't escape him because he's

not going to walk around. Watching them lose that Met series with Jack was one of the worst experiences in my life. Watching with Jack was worse than watching it with my old FAM friends who like the Met. It's bad. Dude, we have to go to Chicago. Jack it. Yeah, you might have to get him a dependency. That game today is seen as our home run went. I was like, Oh, man, they're going to lose this game. It's over. I could just feel it. I don't want to watch that game with Jack. I know he was going crazy. Oh, yeah. I'm sure. Yeah. Well, it's, and thank you for the call, Pat. It's not even crazy. It's pissy. Yeah. And then sometimes it'll curse. Moby Moody. Yeah, he's not even used to hearing him curse. Oh, and in front of kids. Yeah. He gets up tight now. At CBP, I had a tone. Hey, buddy, there's kids here. That's like the F word. Let it rest.
