Now, Swamp Sessions preview with Jeff Prasser and Dan Hicken built by Cash Building Material. Windows and Doors done right. Hey gang, time for another edition of Swamp Sessions pre-game, Dan Hickajef Prasser. Ask me what day it is. What day is it? HOOK DAY! The Campbell camels are coming to town. I thought you screwed up the calendar. You thought today was Wednesday? No, I see what happened there. No, Humpty is a common. And really, I think this is more of what do the gators need to do game? What do the gators need to work on? And I got a sneaking suspicion. You know what a good coach does? He sends a little message. Even if it's against Campbell, the defense plays balls out. And I think that will happen on Saturday. I expect it to happen. I don't think John Summroll or any of the coaching staff was pleased with how the defense played last week against Florida Atlantic.
395 yards, 25 first downs. Now they had 96 plays. It was the temporary little bit. It was the 53 drawbacks and just to sat. Yeah, yeah. I don't think sometimes you can find coaches embellish their rage or their disappointment a little bit to keep their guys. No, I think it's real down there. I think that defense did not play with the aggression that he thought they would or demand. Yeah, and I thought I think he thought that they would. They've got some talent on that defense down there. Yes, it is like the corner is being way off. And again, Campbell has Camden 6killer in Florida back. Yeah, what a game. And for you old people like myself, you might remember Sonny 6killer, who was a college quarterback out west. I think at Washington. Okay. And Sonny 6killer is a distant relative to Camden 6killer. Camden 6killer though is a good at that level. Or a FCS school. Yes. Was Georgia's other FCS when they came to this? Yes. Yeah, they still were. Florida all time is 24 and one against the FCS.
Yeah. Yeah. I will say when it comes to FCS opponents, they are 2 and 0. They don't come to town just like a punching bag for everyone. They beat Kerwin Bell's old team on Saturday. Yeah. And they are current team as they head coach. They beat Western Carolina this weekend. I know what you're wondering. Yeah. The biggest question about the game this weekend. What is it? Honestly, is how does a school in the middle of North Carolina name Campbell come up with the nickname camels, bro? I'm being serious here. I do have an answer actually. Oh, what is it? Like so many of the nicknames in college football. A lot of the iteration. They know they come in like the early 20s when some newspaper columnist said something. Right when they write it some way. And they were saying that the student body at Campbell had the perseverance and endurance of a camel in the desert. Something like that. And then it stuck and they became the Campbell camels. What town is Campbell in? Bowie's Creek, North Carolina. I'm not sure if you're in. I started as Bowie's Creek Academy. Okay. And I think Bowie's Creek Academy have about the same shot this weekend in Gainesville pulling off a football stoner.
Yeah. I think to your point, it's all about. I think they're 0 and 14 all time against the whole. Yeah, of course they are. They're all. Last year they lost to East Carolina and NC State. You know, it's like a 59. I mean, it's again, it should be, it should be and I expect it will be a name your score. But there are things you want to see from Florida. Things that some role wants to see because in seven days a week from Saturday, you're going to Jernair and you're playing Auburn. Right. I, I, a couple of other things to that end. And again, this is what I suspect these aren't directives that are being announced at press conferences. I think they'll be an effort to get Tremel Jones in the game a lot earlier. I think he'll get some weather. That's a series interlocked in the past half or making sure that it's more than just kind of the put it away in the game. I mean, if you're serious about that quarterback room and having a guy that can be close enough in case you need them, this is the time to play him. You don't, you know, you can't do it once it ratchets up. So I would suspect that and I'm in line with you defensively.
I think poor six killer in the camels are going to get a little extra aggression or get a little bit more. And you also play this balancing game. I would imagine early season. They go to how much do you show? How much of the playbook do you open offensively or defensively when you know you got your SEC opener next week in prime time at Auburn? And so I think the answers should be even despite your frustrations at time. And so I think the answers should be don't show much. Just handed to Jayden play base defense and that's, let's go to, you know, on the planes next week. Yeah. And again, it's the unies will be different. Right. I think they got the blue helmets this week. Okay. The lead. If I were that correctly. So there's some cool things going on. And you know, and that's what college football has become, especially when you're playing the camel camels. But listen, I, you know, and I get it. A lot of people. I'd like to have a game. I don't, I'll never apologize for playing anybody. Yeah. No apology. The schedule is fine and it's tough enough. It's a seventh. And we went from the toughest schedule nation to the seventh toughest schedule nation and eventually it'll be even tougher.
Well, I think there was a great idea. I read about a big 10 SEC opening week challenge. And I think that'd be great. And if you think like Florida is the projected fourth best team in the SEC, you play the projected fourth best team in the big 10. Yeah. And you go from there. And we're going to be in the big 10. And I think that's the, I think, the biggest thing is that there are some kind of, there are conference members that are doing that. And then this weekend, Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan, formalized it. I think they have stated whether it came from the league or from the CFP that there's only going to be one of these gimme's. Like the two is going to be one in November. Yeah. It's going to eventually. Correct. So now the fact that Florida already has FSU there, I don't know if they keep the two soft early season games that they need them. Give me one. And then let's, in an ideal world, then you, you, you play FAU that can't be, or maybe you reverse it. You play Campbell who you know can't be. And then you play a team that, well, they're at least FBS. But, you know, at the end of the day, this team's going to be judged for the first time really. I don't know. I don't know. I don't imagine Eric Singleton, Jr. would play. No.
I don't see any scenario. Why would you play him? No. He knows the offense. He's ready to go. You use him. You want him healthy against Auburn. I'm hoping that that's where they're at. And then, you know, the first time he was, you know, what a questionable going into the game. I would play him. I wouldn't play him. Even if you wanted to play, I said, look, man, we're going to need you. It's a long season. We want to do some special things here. Let's get ready and let's go win our first. I'm excited to see him. They raved about him and put him in the camp. I mean, Doring told us, Christo and told us on our hit radio show that he was the most exciting electric player down there during camp. And that's saying a lot considering who that receiver room is made up of, including Vern L. Brown, who this got by me on Saturday. I didn't realize this until even we were done with swap sessions. First touchdown for Vern L Brown. Surprise. That was an eye open. Are you a thought he got one last year? Shocking. He made a lot of points. Well, it's, it's, I mean, made a lot of big plays. He got injured and, and I don't know, man, I listen. It's last year's in the rear camera for me. Oh, there's.
And it needs to be, you know, we watched a little bit of a couple former gators who were very important to the program while they were there. And that was DJ Lagway and, and, and Billy Napier. And, you know, a lot of the same old same old, at least Napier got a win. Lagway had some moments and some, you know, we got, I got hurt. And he completed 50% of his passes. He also made some great throws. The one thing that I, I think Gator fan, and you guys can tell us if, I think Gator fan, which DJ Lagway a lot more good will than the coach. I think that's always the case. Right. And unless he, unless your player leaves you for the arch rival and he's really good. If he fails with you, you're typically going to like you. And Lagway would have had, Lagway would have had a whole lot more if he had not said as much as he said on the way out. And, and there'll some const, honestly, he's not always the best policy when it comes to that. And his, in his opinion, which I don't think many people thought was, you know, the sheltered stuff and the, you know, the other thing. And all coach Dufus may have landed at the perfect level for himself.
You're not going to have the stress and the anxiety and the other side. I mean, Liberty, for the level that he's at now, Liberty's a good team. So, you know, a seven point win over Liberty is, is, you know, nondescript as it was, might be just the place for Billy Napier. I know the place that's not for Billy Napier is the one that he resided in the last four years, which just absolutely beat you about the head. Neck face and chest area. Somebody wants to know on the, sure, on the text lines, FSU like playing Campbell. No, FSU is better than Campbell. Okay. FSU found a way despite what being playing terrible, only lose by field goal. I said this week, I said on 19th, right? You referenced the hit radio show and one of the things I said this week. I mean, I did say a lot. Was that really? And this never happens for me, the gator, really torn about FSU in terms of rooting for them. I never roof, as you know that I, roof, as you lose 100 to nothing. But I would not mind them winning some games.
Yeah, but they're not going to keep them. Well, if they win seven games, they will. Yeah, they were, I get to seven. They're not getting a seven now. Yeah, the reason it doesn't look good aside from their version of Billy Napier, right? Is that they don't have enough talent. And the one guy they have who's good, this is swamp sessions, bleep FSU. I'm not talking anymore about that. So there's that. Well, you got to, I got the camels coming up. Yeah, maybe they are harder than FSU. We'll find out at the end of the year. You got to focus on the camels. I mean, six killer. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, and 14 all time are the camels against this level of competition. So I don't expect much. But enjoy the day. Enjoy the highlight. Will they bring a live camel to the game? They should bring they should bring home. Do you think they have a camel on like on campus? Is there at least like a ceremony? Are you allowed to have a camel in the US? Do we know that? Are there agriculture? If you can have Ralphie the Buffalo. Yeah, right. You can have a war eagle flying around your stadium. If you can have a we used to have that big mechanical gator.
They would rule out. Yeah. Why not? Why not get mechanical gator was fantastic. It was fantastic. A plastic looking thing. Last question about the camels. What do you need to know in the commercial Humpty commercial? Is that a real camel? No, no, Dan camels can't talk. Are you sure? Yeah, that's AI. Well, maybe it's a real camel and they just put well the voice. I don't think that you can on cue get a camel to amble around the office. You know, I think they would be more of the wild beast nature if they were. So if you put a camel in the office. Things that might be made in my it might it probably wouldn't smell good either. I've never smelled a camel. They look like an animal that would stink to me. Yeah. Like a camel just looks like he's carrying some baggage on him. I know the thing about camels is they're just so they're huge animals. Some of these wild animals that we don't think of. Yeah, they're big. It's eight a pack of cigarettes. Okay. It's a big old beast. It is a beast. That'll do it for the pregame swam sessions. Those cigarettes. They still make those bad boys. Oh, those are tough ones that drag on man. That was like that fantasy football race where the boys all fastest to drag a cigarette.
I'm not going to get the first big. I can't endorse that. By the way, there it is right there. Cash building material. Okay. They they did my windows this week and they did an awesome job. We're very happy with them. So you need to you know, align yourself with them. If you're looking for windows or doors. But I will say this in hindsight. I wonder should I have scheduled the window replacement for like the winter time. And here's why. Can you imagine what the what the flies think when they see every window in the house is out. I mean, it was like a fly festival at my house. I mean, places wide open window to the world. You know, you need a mosquito net in there. Yeah, probably needs no one cares. But I do. Gators go. We'll be on swam sessions post game immediately after I look for it to start early because we're expecting a blowout. So we just started 11 anyway. No, no. We're not going to do it. So five or time five 35 game trend. So. And we're also going to be able to take some comments. Yeah, you guys want to comment. You sure comment. And we'll tell you how to do that on Saturday after the game.
Okay. That'll do it for this edition of swaps. It's pregame Hicken processor. See you on Saturday, two and oh, baby. Let's go. Catch swaps sessions preview with Dan and me on Thursdays before every Gators game. The swaps sessions preview built by cast building material.
