Federal workers union calls for end to shutdown

The largest federal workers' union, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), has called for an end to the government shutdown that has left hundreds of thousands of federal employees without pay. The union's president, Everett Kelley, urged Congress to pass a "clean continuing resolution" to fund the government and allow negotiations to continue separately from government funding.
