There was a fan wearing Dan's jersey right next to where the players came out.

2:03He's like, you got a pen and just signed it right on him. We have a thumbs up. He kept walking. He rarely does any of that. I've signed it right on the front. And then the fan was an older guy and he's just like, that's the coolest thing that ever happened to me. Yeah, it's awesome. That's why he's Dan the man. Making dreams come true. This is regular fans sitting out there. But yeah, so, one didn't go as fans of hope. I don't think, let me start with this though. I think for most fans, the most level-headed fans, not a surprise. Young team, made young team mistakes. They were really never out of the game, but I don't know if they were ever really a threat to win the game. They were just kind of hanging around for the most part. I will say this, compared to week one last year, big improvement didn't get blown out on the road, big improvement compared to week one last year in inapolis. So, looking for silver linings, I guess there's one. I think the downside though is the Raiders are one of the worst teams in the league. They were without their best player and they still kind of handled Miami easily.

3:07Now, I know Miami's young team are going to improve over the course of season. You'll see less of the hopefully we see yes or the rookie mistakes from the rookies and stuff. What it is, they fought, they hung around, but they just didn't have enough at the end of the day. What are your thoughts? I mean, obviously there's a little bit of good. Obviously there's a lot of bad, but I think it was more or less what I personally expected. When they cut it to four there, I'm like, okay, let's see what they can actually do. The slow start killed this team. I mean, when you're a young team and this brings up the debate that I feel like we talk about every year following week one is this is why you should play your starters in the pre-season. And look, we understand that this team has no depth and they can't risk playing these players in the pre-season out of fear of getting hurt because they're already so limited. And it's so unique this year because you're paying more salary to players not on the team

4:08than on the roster. So we'll give it a pass. But Jeff Hathley basically said that he wants to build his thing on three pillars. So I think it was trust, belief, and toughness. And toughness, I thought it was there for some plays. It was not there for others, but overall pretty good. Like it's not like the team didn't try. The belief obviously still has to come and they got to trust each other. But you know, I don't know, I guess maybe the questions that we all had, we now have a better idea and validated a lot of the questions. The biggest question that I now have is about Bobby Sloak. And look, people say, I know he was here last year and that he's got some familiarity. He's off the Shanahan tree and it's all the same things that we hear all the time. But if you go back to when he was at Houston, down year for CJ Stroud and then obviously it was fired because the offense was not what it was. And then he comes here.

5:11And I think what I learned from this game, Mike, and maybe you have love your opinion on this. With Dubrock Bowers, the dolphins knew exactly what the Raiders were going to do. And that was just get Ash and Jenny involved. And they said they had no answer for him. He got whatever he wanted. I mean, he looked like he was that top first round pick. He looked like a pro bowler. Yes, they upgraded the offensive line. But you have Devon H and in my opinion, Devon H and is better and more versatile than Ash and Jenny. And it was frustrating to me to see him not get the ball in space and to not be skimmed up to get him the ball because you need to have the ball in his hands. We know this. That to me is a question mark. And it's not like he was being double teamed. The offensive line was supposed to be one of the strengths of this team. But yeah, I mean, they put an extra guy in the box. And again, you knew you were going to do that. So what's your counter? And to me, that is telling me, A, what can these players actually handle?

6:16Because there's a lot of rookies on this team. And what plays can they in the playbook, can they actually feel comfortable running? So that's kind of a hanging chat on that one. To what kind of creativity is Bobby Sloughick and having? And what are we actually going to see? Because all the teams are going to see exactly what the Raiders did. And they're not going to know how to stop this team. So yeah, I need to see some type of offensive production. It's great to see Mike Willis tuck the ball and run. I don't think there's been a 14-year touchdown run from a quarterback on this team. And I don't know how long probably this century. But yeah, it looks pretty bleak. And I just don't... It's just frustrating because that's a team in my opinion. And we were talking about, you know, they got a chance to win this game. And they didn't even come close. At 17-13, they were in the game. And I thought, oh, they just got turned over. They come down score. Yeah. 17-13, you got a chance. And they gave it right back on defense. And my shock notes, I think that side of the ball is far worse than the offense. I think the offense...

7:17Here's the slow. I don't want to just throw him under the bus after one game. But he didn't get the ball to H&N off dead. It's 100%. Right. He's got it. I mean, we just paid H&N all this money. You got to use them. Like, what's the point of pain? We're not going to use them. It makes no sense to me. That's number one. Number two, the only shot. The only shot the team has won a game this year is to run the ball. They're not going to spread teams out and throw in. He's going to win it with his arm because he doesn't have the weapons to throw to. They have to run the ball because when you run the ball, the clock keeps rolling. You keep the defense on the sideline, which for Miami, the only time they're going to win is if they win time of possession, keep the defense on the sidelines as much as possible. And just run the ball. Now, the offensive line, like you said, did not play great. And it did not play great. There's some guys had some moments here. There Austin Jackson was a hot mess express. Jonah looked like the same. Jonah, I saw last year. Patrick, if you listen to analytics people, which I try not to, Patrick Paul was great. Kingdom practice was great. And they were good. I mean,

8:17I'm not going to say they were bad, but they weren't as good as maybe the analytics people like to make it out to be. But Aaron Brewer even kind of struggled a little. And I'm with the on that. Well, I'm at this point now. For years, we've heard. And I know they're thin, so they don't want to risk anyone in preseason games. I get it. But we've heard and I've bought into it. I raised my own hand. The joint, when they have a joint thing with the Giants practice or with Washington practice or with lines and bears last year, you get more out of that thing to the preseason games. I don't buy that no more. I think I'd play a little of these preseason games because you cannot replicate game environment, unless you're actually in a game. I think you got to play a little bit in the preseason. We saw one drive from a starting offense. If we were to saw nothing from a starting defense. And I think not that they would have won the game if they played more, but you probably would have had a few more, a few less mistakes at the end of the day. And we saw it with Mike McDaniel all those years where he almost never played anyone in the preseason. And halfly, which I once again, I understand why because it's a thin roster and you can't risk a few of these guys getting her.

9:22Because it really is a house to cars. But I think they got to play a little bit more in the preseason. And hopefully next year when this roster has got a little bit more tail on it, maybe they do play a little bit more. I don't know. I guess we'll find out. See, but they got to run the ball more. And again, I'm not going to write off slow. I'm not writing off anyone after one game. Slow, though, he does have to run the ball more clearly. The offensive line has to play. Look, for people who say Miami doesn't invest in the offensive line, every guy on that line, Paul round two, proctor round one. Um, Jackson, round one, Austin Jackson, round one, Jonah traded up for it round two. I know these guys didn't do it, but okay, top around two. And we just paid the center like the third highest paid one in the league. And he's a problem. They, and a pro they have to play better than offensive line. Because if they don't, there's issues. I mean, it's really going to be a long season then. But even if they're running games that working, Josh, one last thing, keep running it anyways. Just keep chimp out of it.

10:22Because he can't, look, we'll talk about him next, Willis. He's not the guy to drop back 25, 30 times. And one game was on him. He's just not. So you better keep running it. And hopefully after a while, it starts working. If it's not working, even. Yeah. I mean, that's, I mean, I'm sure we'll get to it. But like the defensive line also, you know, we talk about big guys that can move. The hardest players to find. And the big question mark was what type of pass rush could be get? And I mean, you like Kirk Cousins basically pick you apart. He had the Kirk Cousins can't throw the ball down the field a few times. You did. You got picked off twice. He's terrible. Yeah. So I mean, look, I mean, you know, good for Taff. I'm happy for Dante Trader. But again, you got no pressure with your front four. And that's problem, especially in San Francisco. And yeah, and it's not any easier with the chiefs coming the following week for the home opener. So, I mean, you know, it's, uh, look, it's day one. You got a lot of things that went wrong. There's a few good things that

Not many injuries from this game, I know they worked out a long snapper today because the long snapper hurt his shoulder, so adding tens, so we'll see and also kind of Lewis is going to miss a few weeks at least with an MCL injury, which is a shame because you got him and Traymore now are out and these are the young guys we really got to find out about, but Kyle Lewis sounds like it'll be back a little quicker with those MCLs. Usually it's like a month out with thank, usually, so we'll see with Lewis. I know Traymore is going to be out probably in November. It's a little bit longer for him, but those are the only two injuries coming out of this game. So I mean, yeah, from a special team though, like that Lewis got hurt on special teams and special teams was atrocious in this game. Outside the plunder, that punter, I will say it's about that punter. He did not look just like the same punter in the preseason. His first two punts, he bombed one, pinned him inside the 20. The second one, he bombed one, he made the saving tackle

14:36to save a touchdown. Braille opinion, he gets the exception. This did not look like the same guy saw in three preseason games, shake it pretty much every pun he did. This guy showed up for the regular season. He just, you know, I mean, you know, maybe you got to keep him, you know, keep him guessing the gamer. But you're right, the rest of the special teams was got off when they couldn't cover anything. Every return scene was about to be run back. The special teams, you and it stink. Now, I know special teams are a lot of bottom of the roster guys. They put in several weight, seven waiver claims. A lot of those guys might be on that unit and they are, but they got to improve quick because you can see where you can see the hand running's on the wall that someone's going to just run one back here real soon because they got close a lot. Let's talk willis. Okay. My thoughts are this. Let me know if you agree. Kind of like the team. Wasn't awful, wasn't great. Just ordinary and he looked like a guy at times who only had six or seven

15:37starts in the NFL to his name. Mesa, my place was legs for sure. I know there's a couple, I saw a few plays and again, you can break down film to show any where he might probably should have checked out to HN and he took off and ran instead. Honestly, I'm fine with that at some level because he probably got the same amount of yards if he did throw to HN with a guy right near him, probably going to tackle him real quick, but he did hold onto the ball a little too long. A lot of those sex, in my opinion, not all of them, a lot of them were on him. Now he took ownership of it too, but that's just him falling on his sword as well. What were your thoughts on Willis overall? Again, I don't know if we really learned anything. Like I said, at times he was good, at times not so good. He looked like a guy who's like middle of the pack, bottom half of the pack starting quarterback in the league. Yeah, but I mean, if you look at the money that they paid him, compared with the other quarterbacks you're making, that's exactly what I was kind of expecting. What this often seems to figure out is who has the ability to make a big play? We've seen Caleb

16:42Douglas a couple times. Chris Bell didn't even get a look in the first half, and I love how they went to him, basically with the first play in the third quarter. Look, Willis, he's not going to throw a 25-yard outball. It's just not what he does. You're looking for him to go through a progression, which two of it couldn't do, and then hit the second guy to the third guy to take off of his legs, and we saw that on that great 14-year touchdown run. That's the league Willis, but to me, this is where Slowick's got to come in. What your strengths are, what your weaknesses are, and how do you build stuff around putting them in the best positions possible? I understand, and I was talking with Ted Krochev, half-leaf about this. It's just, it's early in the season, you have a lot of young players, and they don't know the full playbook. Jeff said that they would only call plays where the players knew that they were comfortable running. He had Malik Washington, basically playing nine positions, it feels like it times, or telling everybody what to do. I agree with your assessment of, all right, he was okay, some good, some bad,

17:51but one game is in and up for me to really render an opinion. I think, as we start to see the next four opponents through this by-week, we're going to have a real idea. The way that it's looking, expect this team to start on five. We'll see what comes of it, but yeah, I don't know if you watched the Packers Minnesota game. They've got the Vikings in before. Ryan Flores blitzed, I think it was like almost 80% of the time against the Vikings. He won them that game because they were down early. He won them that game because they lost their starting quarterback and they're down early. They won that game because Flores kept a minute, essentially. Yeah. And then they started to score. I mean, look, we got some matchup nightmares. Cone up Cincinnati with their weapons against our secondary is going to be horrible. It's going to be bloodbath. Kansas City is going to run down our throat because we couldn't stop. You know, I mean, Walker last night was, he was five years down. If you're before anyone could touch him with their offensive line, that's going to be bad. Justin Jefferson, we got no one to cover him. That's going to be bad. I mean, we got some bad

18:54matchups here up until the buy. And then after the buy, you can reevaluate. Hopefully we're starting to improve a little. But yeah, up until the buy starting this week, it's got it's it will be rough. Yeah, it's a connoisseur. So it's it's like, let's see some improvements. You tweeted this out. I think pot maybe one of the biggest positives. Do you want to challenge? I mean, that's it. Huge. And the whole process was seamless. Like they didn't have to like like there was the play. Yeah. Well, then seconds, get the flag out and they won it. In the perfect Daniels, you look at took 10 minutes, are we going to throw it? Not throw it. Let me throw it. We lose it. There's like that process, whatever it is, is working. Number one and two, against one game. But even if you go through the preseason, this team has less injuries and it's had years passed. So whatever they're doing, it's some of its luck. I have always said some of that's luck with injury. But they seem to be doing something where these guys aren't as hurt. I mean, yes, you're always going to have guys hurt always. But there's not as many injuries coming out of

19:56this team that we've seen in years past. So get are these small little moral victories that we're trying to cling to? Yes, absolutely. I'm not going to lie. But it's also the foundation that you're trying to build here. Let's get the small stuff right before we move on to the more larger stuff, which is going to take a little bit longer, obviously. Right. I mean, going back on slow, I remember tweeting this out, like they were down two touchdowns with like five and a half minutes to play. And you're going, you're not going to hurry up. I'm like, yeah, like played in one of the game in it. But it's also like, is this offense capable of running like a hurry up offense? Like, we haven't seen any of that. But again, like your pros, like I I understand that it's a first year regime, but you have played it in the game like like you're in it. Like so again, I think that this coaching staff has a plan. I know that they're going to try to win every game. But um, yeah, I think there's just so much room for improvement. Um, you know, also Caleb Douglas had a great that was just going to bring him up next. Yeah, you got a great, you had a great first half. I think

20:59you led rookies with the five catches in almost a hundred yards, but that was on the first half. You didn't seem in the second half for for 81 in the first half. You called all four targets four for four 81 yards. He ended like what five for 94 I think something like that. Yeah, but it's like one of the best. I know. I know. I know. But it was it's got open. You got open. Um, you know, so it's it's just, but I think this is what we're going to see. Like this team's going to have to turn over the other team and they're going to have to do something with it, which they did once and uh, second time they really didn't. Jalen Wright had that amazing return and then I they didn't get points out of that. Um, but again, like we talk about, you know, game adventures. There's the cliche, but when you're playing against good teams, the margin of air is so small and just the mistakes, but I mean, we knew this. Like it's they have a they have a long way to go. Um, I understand that they were in the game, but like you said, like they were never going to win this game. Um, that's right. That's one the game. It's 1713. I thought maybe, but then when they gave it right

21:59back, I'm like, oh, there's no chance. Yeah, they just don't. It's just seemed like the Raiders could score it really anytime they wanted to and that's the kind of dead after that touch on the okay, then you got a little close. We're going to pull away. Um, and they're just look, here's the other Raiders. They're like a year or two ahead of us in this rebuild. They were picking first last year, even though they're not playing a quarterback. They got the quarterback. They got the superstar tight end who who wasn't on the field. They got a superstar running bit. They got guys, young guys and key spots that we just don't have. Um, we got players, but yeah, it's same, but again, like you're talking about teams three and 14 last year, but they spent money in the off season. So, um, I think I got a good center too. That guy's a beast. Yeah, so I mean, yeah, so we'll see. But again, like Dolphan's fans, I think you got to sit back and you see what happens and honestly, it's not a horrible thing if you lose every game because you get the number one pick. Yeah, and look, I know it's a long ways away. And I might have been saying who because there's people much smarter than me. You can find out the who. But if you're

23:02picking one and you don't take a quarterback, I think you're out of your goddamn mind. I just do. Especially if they lose most, if not all, I don't know how you can just not go quarterback at the point. If you're picking one and you decide that you want to take Jeremiah Smith, you better trade that motherfucking pick. Yeah, you better, yeah, or you better trade for a haul for a hard. Yeah, trade down for a haul or you better trade back into round one and get a quarterback late around one at that point. You can know 100% ignore quarterback. If they're picking one and they go, you know, all in 17, one in 16, which I know some people, it's just one game. Folks, look at their schedule. I don't know how many, even the jets, they what about the jets, they mall Tennessee. Like the jets went up. You great. They mall that's going to be a tough matchup for us because their offensive line was just moving the just moving the Titans out of the way it will and I know it's one game, but like there's no easy games on this schedule for Miami.

24:02Like this was the easy game and they just lost it. Okay. If they're picking one, I would just sit, I would I wouldn't even trade. I just sit there and take the quarterback you want. Whoever that is, I'm not going to get into arch and more in this. I don't care. John Eric's something smarter than me. Take the one you want because without the quarterback, you're just spinning your wheels in the mud in this league and that's how it goes. But that's exactly why they gave Malik the contract that he did. Like move on from a quick again, the goal of the season is to really figure out if Malik's the guy or not and you're given him an opportunity with a bunch of upside to resign and we know that it's a band-aid and we know that these next two quarterback classes are full of what experts predict as franchise quarterbacks, which are very hard to find. But again, like you look at the AFC, I mean you could even look at the AFC North. Like you know, you've got to find your guy like a Josh Allen and I mean look Josh Allen's going to be a Hall of Famer. You look at the AFC Lamar Jackson's going to be a Hall of Famer. My homes is going to be a Hall of Famer and these are the

25:05guys you got to be. So yeah, I mean you got you got to have the quarterback. Like I know last year people will take a look at Seattle. They won with Sam Darnel. Yeah, that's that's a tougher avenue to take. It can be done. That's a tougher avenue to take though. Most of the teams that are in the Super Bowl have a guy. But again, Sam was what a top three pick. He still was. Yeah, he he just said to go around to a few stops. Yeah, he just had to have the right situation. But again, like Schneider, GM off the Green Bay tree. Green Bay, so you know, they evaluate these guys very similarly. 28:13because there's so many players in that game. Oh my god this is loading. He was the only GM there. Every team sent a scout. He was the only GM at that game and look that's so big deals. There's so many games. Lots of GMs are going to see Ohio State players here in Texas. But the fact he was there for that amazing game to see firsthand. All the guys like you saw Smith put on his show for Ohio State saw Archmaning at a fourth quarter three touchdown drives when it looked like it was like he saw the best of the best at these guys in the biggest moments. So he probably had a very good feel for them not just talent wise but also what they add the table. And I'm sure he's going to be going out to some games in the Oregon this year and I'll probably go to a gaming Oklahoma state and check out that quarterback even though they're not that great South Carolina you know with them. And I'm sure at home with University Miami's got a few players. He's he's going to be on the road a lot but man he picked the right game to go to on Saturday. I got a good cane story so I'm sitting next to John Eric and it's at the Famu game Thursday night was that two weeks that God was that Thursday. Oh my God. So much life has happened. I know. So Thursday.

29:15First touchdown they score Mark Fletcher bus off a 50 yard touchdown. Second drive. It's a long bomb to Josh Moore and Sally's there's like all right. I've seen it up. Just walks off. It's like it's like I'm out. I mean you can't judge him against that type of team. That's yeah. I mean I was talking a bunch of scouts that were there and they're just like we're here just to build relationships meet people and you know make sure that they see us get to know these guys watch body language but against team like that. Yeah you're not learning anything. And they're schedule. Here's thing for Miami Hurricanes and again this isn't me being a hater not hating just dating. Wait Friday. Yeah I mean their schedule is so soft as you. Clemson got Molly walked by LSU. I mean so they're playing Wake Forest as a joke. Central Michigan's a joke. Clemson it's at Clemson so it might be a little bit of a story. Again they just got beat down. Exactly. It can be that much of a struggle. Florida's stages just fired their AD. That head coach might not even be there for that game. Pittsburgh is always a fight but you get them at home at least.

30:18North Carolina I wouldn't worry. Their first real game is a week before Thanksgiving at Notre Dame November 17th and they got home Duke home Virginia Tech home Boston College so they had with three at home. They're only tough game.
