About this episode
Back in March I took a field trip down to South Florida for the Hungryland 100, not to run it, but to do my thing, cook, cheer, hug, eat, hang out, and to grow my circle of ultra-running community family.
Hungryland Slough is a beautiful area in Palm Beach County and hosts part of the Ocean to Lake Trail. There is such an abundance of wildlife and plants there! Some are scary, like gators and snakes, but no runners, volunteers, spectators, or podcasters were injured.
Austin Brennan was making his first attempt at the 100 mile distance and had a big goal of going sub-24. This is no easy trail for a sub-24 with a good amount of mud and standing water, but he not only accomplished his goal, he won the race. Austin is a member of Team Runfluent-Fulwise, and to the surprise of no-one, they are making big waves in the Florida Ultra-running scene with regular appearances on the podium. Austin is fairly new to the ultra-running scene, but I think it's safe to say he's not going anywhere. Just like a lot of us, he has found his happy place. I hope you enjoy getting to know him and the Hungryland 100 a little better.
