Episode 4488: Tony Katz Today Hour 2 - 03/31/26

0:00Why, from the heartland and the crossroads of America, it's Tony Katz today. I was just a little bit of a little bit of a fight in my life. Normally when we're in the firing room working over there, folks have got their heads down and they're working and they do all the business that we do of the space business. But I say there was a lot of smiles today. It felt really good about that as the team is preparing. I think everybody's pretty excited and understands the significance of this launch. We had a fight for last night, we had a briefing with them. We had another one just a little bit before I went down the firing room.

1:00We had another briefing with them. Last night was just to kind of go over the day launch routine with them and kind of a refresher for ourselves and for them. And that went really well. They were in great spirits. And then we had another briefing today just to talk about how the launch countdown was going and as we'll talk here in a little bit, it's been going really well. Artemis too. We're talking about the fly by of the moon that is scheduled for April 1st, which is a terrible day to do. Who does a flight on April Fool's Day? That is just, that is not the timing I would have gone for. But then again, I'm not in charge of timing for NASA. Tony Katz, Tony Katz today, an absolute pleasure guys. Good to be with you. It's a 10 day mission. And Artemis is about getting back to the moon. This is the first time since the Apollo program.

2:00What is the point here? Well, the point is something that just a good amount of thinking has brought us to. And that is if the plan is Mars, right? If the plan is to get some Mars and exploration of Mars, how does that happen? And what has been clearly understood is that it would be easier if you were launching from the moon. First, you have a little bit of distance. But really what you get is the benefit of a lack of atmosphere and a lack of gravity. Not a total lack of gravity, but a great lack of gravity. If you're talking about launching, I don't claim an expertise. I do claim an understanding that I get the mouth. If you are talking about launching from Earth, you have to overcome this gravity with a tremendous amount of force and fuel.

3:04And now you got to take a flight to Mars, which is not an easy thing to do, by the way. I still argue large levels of impossible. If you're doing it from the moon, you have some distance you don't have to cover, right? You're not halfway there by any stretch, but you got some distance you don't have to cover. And man, is it a lot easier to punch through whatever atmosphere may minutely exist? Allowing you more opportunity, more fuel, et cetera, to get to where you're going. That is as layman as I can get. That's really as layman as I can understand it. What you have, so if the question is, is the moon a hub for Mars? The moon is a hub for a lot of things. But yes, that is a strong possibility, and that's where a lot of these conversations are now.

4:07I think it's fascinating. And I will tell you that the moon or NASA is one of the... It might be the only thing left where I say, I know government shouldn't be in this business per se. I know that government shouldn't spend its money like this. I don't care. Do it. I think it's awesome. The level of hypocrite you can call me on this subject goes from now until the end of time I accept. I accept. I get what I'm doing. I get what I'm saying. I understand completely and totally. It's true. It's true. Yet it's awesome. I think there is something to it. I think there's something you can call it romantic. I just think of... Look at what our fellow human beings thought of as possible and then did.

5:09It's why SpaceX is so unbelievable. These people who hate Elon Musk and call him dumb screw them. Morons, morons, embarrassing, pathetic, low people. It's amazing. It is all spectacular. Spectacular and terrific. I just want to see more of it. I just want to see more of it. That's all. Love it. What I'd like to see less of is this absolute nonsense garbage that the Daily Mail just put out about Charlie Kirk. This is truly, truly disgusting. What they posted over there at the Daily Mail reads, bullet used to kill Charlie Kirk did not match rifle allegedly used by Suspect Tyler Robinson.

6:12New court filing claims. Well, that's something that's not what actually happened. It is an incendiary, disgusting, horrifying headline. So it was a conspiracy. So Candace Owens was right. Hey, let me click on this story to get more. It is beyond a misleading headline. It's a lie. Because when we take a look at what it is they found during autopsy, they state that the result of the comparison was inconclusive.

7:15Somehow the defense trying to mount the defense wants to make a claim that this proves that it wasn't Tyler Robinson. No, it doesn't. ATF ran as is been reported and analysis on the bullet jacket fragment recovered from Charlie's autopsy. The result was inconclusive, not no match. Those are two different things. Now people who play in that world might be able to give me a little more data and a little more explanation. The jacket was too fragment to compare, which also partially explains the lack of an exit wound. Incinclusive means insufficient evidence to draw any conclusion. It does not mean that the bullet did not match the rifle as the headline stated. The false inflammatory, let me get some clicks headline.

8:19So now what the defense is saying is that they want this to be exculpatory. Right? Exculpatory to clear someone of guilt. But that's not what this data does. That's not what this data can do. Not by any stretch. There are other testings that could take place. And the defense doesn't want those tests because they want to be able to rest on something inconclusive. Lie about what it is and help their clients who seems to have murdered Charlie Kirk. It is beyond, beyond, ugly. What it is that the Daily Mail has done here.

9:27The defense is questioning how the bullet gets matched. They're trying to defend their clients. And what you want is to say, hey, click here. I mean, I understand that that clicks are a, you know, how do I clean this up? Clicks are a prostitute's game. Honestly, that's the best I could do to clear it up. I swear to you. But this is dirty. This is dirty and obscene. And that's what, that seems to be where we're at right now. We're in the dirty kind of play. And people find with it, solid with it.

10:27They think that it's somehow acceptable. What part of this would be acceptable? And no one's going to stop reading the Daily Mail tomorrow. What's going to happen is it's going to get quoted. It's going to get used. It's going to get utilized. Bloody heck, even I will sometimes still use a CNN story as a source. I know that CNN is full of garbage. I'm fully aware that these people can't be trusted. But they do have one or two people left who can go about doing some reporting. My God, there's still some reporters at the New York Times, you know. It's just that the New York Times can't be trusted. It is just flat out horrifying that this would happen. But I guess not surprising.

11:28So with that, when you read that headline, know how nonsense it is. Know how shameful it is. And know that, no, it's not what it claims to be. Right now, Tyler Robinson is the main suspect. He has the right to a defense. Bring him on the trial. I'm Tony Katz and this is Tony Katz today. Tonight on the first yours truly filling in for Sean Spicer on the Sean Spicer show. That's right. 13:31And it is alluding me right now. It wasn't an answer. Although there was a story that came over that things are moving in the straight-up or moves. No, no, no. The story was about Christy Nome's husband. I don't know what's real and what's not. I don't know what it is that's going on with her. And not everything is her fault. She is surrounded herself with some people who aren't great. And then there are some things that who would know. I guess I am sometimes at a loss as to how odd people are. Now, I've said this before and I'll say it again. And I'm correct here. Everybody has a fetish.

14:34Absolutely positively. Everybody has a fetish. Some are totally innocent. Some are indeed sexual. Some could be seen as dangerous. Some are against the law. The rock climber is a fetishist. So is the masochist. Just a different fetish. I don't think every fetish is bad for you. But we should be clear that everybody's got the thing that moves them. I may not understand some of the things that move people. In the same way, other people are like, what do you mean you're attracted to feet? I'm not talking about me. I'm talking about other people. I am not a foot guy. I just don't think feet are the end of the universe. Some people are like feet. The human body should stop at the ankle.

15:35That's it. And like those people are like awkward. It's because they're just so visceral with their hate. Some people are really in defeat. Some people are the Dick Morris types. Who am I to judge? I don't. Go live your life. Go find the person who's also in defeat. Knock yourself out. Just please. Don't tell me about it. Don't show me. No. Thank you. This brings us to a story about Christy Knowham's husband. This is nutty. Now, this was initially reported by the Daily Mail. The same people who reported this Charlie Kirk nonsense. And the story says, Ms. Knowham is devastated.

16:35The family was blindsided by this. And they asked for privacy and prayers at this time. What in the world is this all about? What this is all about is that allegedly, her husband leads a cross-dressing double life. I don't know what in the world I'm supposed to say to this. And they're supposedly photos out there. And dressing up and though, I have no idea. And yes, I heard there are pictures out there. I am not searching for them. If only because I would like to sleep tonight.

17:36It is not my thing. I do not look at this man and say, what you have done is horrifying. If it moves you and it moves other people, I don't get involved. I don't. I don't judge it. Whatever. As long as you're not hurting other people, go live your life. But how is this, what's the right word? I was going to ask, how is this possible? Maybe what I'm trying to ask is, how is it possible that amongst those who are in leadership, those who are in the know, these things happen with a level of seeming prevalence. With all due respect, you could tell me how Nancy Pelosi's husband was attacked by a random guy with a hammer. And I'll tell you, sure he was,

18:38wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more. Everybody has a fetish. You're telling me that Kristinaum didn't know? And then she found out because it was on the website? You say what you will. You say what you will about Kristinaum and some of it I can agree with you? That's awful. That is awful. If indeed, Kristinaum didn't know. Human history doesn't change. The human condition doesn't change. They like what they like and some of it's legal and some of it's not. This is Tony Katz today.

19:38Three more things, Tony Katz. Tony Katz today, guys, an absolute pleasure to be with you. What is three more things? These are things that people should be talking about on the front pages. Because of other news stories, not easy to do. Things get knocked off those front pages all the time. So I make sure that we discuss them right here. First, I take you to Rhode Island. I know you just sent me that story, but I had that story. That insanity. I appreciate you, though, that you're an artist, put up a mural. It was paid for by Elon Musk. And it honors Arena Zorutzka. Who's Arena Zorutzka? She was the Ukrainian woman murdered in North Carolina. She's on a light rail. She's just sitting there, mining her own business.

20:38This man, black man behind her, pulls out a knife, starts stabbing her. She looks up at him. And realize how hurt she was. Scared out of her mind, nobody helps her. Nobody gets out of a seat. He walks off the train. He's literally saying, got that white girl. And she slowly bleeds out. And the video camera, the videos that are there, show her just dying right in front of you. This child. 20 something was Arena Zorutzka. 23. Thank you. And, oh, media doesn't want to talk about this. Media doesn't want to talk about this. Jade and Ivy. Oh, we have to talk about him, because look how he insulted gay people. This woman got stabbed to death. That guy has an opinion. You don't have to agree with his opinion. But we aren't going to discuss those on the streets who are being convicted and charged with all sorts of crimes, being put back out on the streets.

21:38We're not going to say, hey, let's not do that. Jade and Ivy can't say something against a pride month. Because if he does, he gets thrown off the team. I can't get the left to notice when women are being stabbed to death, they don't seem to care. That's some messed up priorities right there. That's messed up stuff. We're not going to fall for that. Musk is hiring basically. Mural to be painted. The mural is not done in downtown Providence. And the mayor wants the artwork taken down and says, and I've got the quote right here. The mayor states his name is Brett Smiley. Can't make that up.

22:39The murder of the individual depicted in this mural was a devastating tragedy, but the misguided, isolating intent of those funding murals like the one across the county is divisive and does not represent Providence. What is divisive about a painting of Arenas Arutska? What's divisive? She was murdered. And Elon Musk thinks people should remember her face and her name and what happened to her. And we should as society say, we don't want this. And we're sick and tired of prosecutors and don't prosecute. We're sick and tired of prosecutors who think that career criminals should get off. But if you say something wrong, you should have spent 100 years in jail. Jade and Ivy says, I don't believe in Pride Month. I think it's unrighteous. Lose a job. Murderer murders. Criminal engages in criminal activity. Why are you paying attention?

23:41You better believe we should play in the culture wars and we should win because they have to lose. This doesn't match who we are. And then there's, this is not the mayor, but this is a representative of the area saying that this mural, it doesn't represent Providence values. Ultimately, we want to make sure that every community member that calls Providence home feels safe. And we can both agree that this mural behind us does not reflect Providence values, nor does it reflect the creativity that we want to see in our city. What are you talking about? What values does Providence have? Now, we know it's Rhode Island. We know it's already a pretty screwed up place. We know what it is. We understand this leftist hotbed, hotbed, that it has always been. What are you talking about? How does this not represent your values?

24:41It's a painting. It's a painting of a girl's face. How does it not represent your values? You don't want to be reminded that she was murdered, that policies, that maybe you favor representative, allow these career criminals back out on the streets. Or is the problem that she's white? Go on, tell us, Mayor. Tell us, Representative. You don't want to show the white woman who got killed by a black man because you think that's going to encourage racism. God. People ask me why I'm not a liberal? That's why. Would I ever want to be so broken in my soul that I think like that? Ugly stuff. This brings us to the crash of Tiger Woods. Not career, car, again.

25:43He told police he was looking in his phone. He didn't realize the car in front of him had slowed. He was involved in a rollover crash, arrested for DUI, released on bail that same night. His Land Rover crossing lanes, clipping a forward truck and partially rolled over. This was his second DUI arrest and fourth car crash that we know about. Man, let's tell you what. There's been this conversation about how the PGA has to do something. It has to say something. There has to be a punishment. And I'm pretty sure that producer Landon correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure they're going to want them at the masters. I'm pretty sure they still want him to be out there, correct? I would say more than likely. I would go with more than likely too.

26:44If he keeps driving, he's going to get someone killed. We're now into the place where he's just fortunate, fortunate that no one has been killed. But he's in this place. And I don't know what the PGA is supposed to do. I don't know how they're supposed to react. Are they supposed to tell him he can't play in the masters? You're going to suspend them? I don't know how that part works. Now, compared to J. Nivey, this could be a conduct that's detrimental. Because nobody wants to bring it.

27:44I mean, nobody who wants this brought into the tour. But I was on the phone. That's a weird defense. Super weird defense. And then there are home listings. So, where's the market? Right now, I got it. I got it right here. The pre-market was massive. The pre-market was massive, massive, massive today. And there's a moment where we're at it, at least at this very second. The Dow is up 900. The Nasdaq is up 672. Because there's optimism for an end to the war in Iran. Okay.

28:45Now, you can't get me to answer the following question. What do you mean an end to the war? What does an end look like? I don't know what they're optimistic about. But, sure, knock yourself out. Maybe you're optimistic because this is war power's acting. It has to be wrapped up in 60 days, with another 30 days to engage all the extraction. Could be that as we are in the half way, Mark. But, the idea that the markets can just look at a statement. Be like, all right, everything's going to be fine. Up 900. Too weird for words. I would rather look at home listings. In the month of February, this is from Redfin. You have 630,000 more home sellers than buyers.

29:54And, as a follow-up, half of all listings have been on the market for 60 days plus. Now, to the realtors out there, the terminology they use is stale. I have never heard that before. I have never heard a listing referred to a stale, but I'm not in that world. So, maybe that's how it's used. And, Miami leads the major metros in the share of stale listings. 52% of listings, this is February, on the market for at least 60 days without going under contract. Highest share for the month since 2019, which is interesting, it's a pre-COVID number. The issue is elevated mortgage rates. Because if I take a look at the 30-year fixed, that rate a month ago, March 1st,

30:56was national average 6.05. Now, you could have found it for less. You could have paid points, all sorts of things. It was 6.05. Now, 6.50. It's up to half a percent. And, people are going to say, you know what? Oh, wait. Oh, wait on that one. You have people with cars. Cars sales are down. Oh, wait. We'll see what happens with this warm, but I said, yeah, maybe it's not the time to buy the very large SUV, like I did last month. I needed something to move some equipment around. I needed something for work, and I wasn't going to be just to pick up because I wanted something that could, you know, protect it. So I bought used, but very large, outrageously large SUV. And I believe, I believe it gets three gallons to the mile. It's very exciting. It wasn't a home V.

31:57That is on the list, but it's lower on the list. Yeah, it's rough out there. It's hard out here for a pimp. It is rough out there. So you're seeing car sales not go as fast. I got to assume with home sales, if it's still in a certain range, people are buying. It's just that range. Get slower as interest rates get higher. And then there was this just because I like to be proven right. You have a former Biden staffer. I do not know her. Agua Wollae. Yamisi Agua Wollae. Former Biden White House staffer. She's on TikTok, and she's saying, you know, I went to Disneyland again. These people go into Disney. What are these people wearing? How are people going out of the house like this?

32:58They're in front of children. Why in the world is anybody wearing chaps at Disney as an adult? Great question. So glad you asked. The idea that there are indeed unwritten social expectations. Societal expectations that govern behavior, especially around families. Wait till you see the amount of people have been encouraged, Ms. Agua Wollae, by your party to dismiss, deny, and get rid of all of those expectations. Look at who you invited to the White House. Look at who you invited to the White House. And you see the point. Yeah. Yeah. I'm Tony Katz. This is Tony Katz today. So I didn't get to the story yesterday about the Pope. And you've been hearing people talk about the story. What is it? Pope Leo says God rejects prayers of leaders who wage war.

34:04Okay. Tony Katz. Tony Katz today. Guys, an absolute pleasure to be with you. I don't expect since Pope John Paul II a Pope to be aligned with me politically. I wouldn't expect such a thing. I have not opposed to this Pope or any Pope. I leave it to Catholics to kind of engage. Hey, they've said this. They're this on policy or this on canon or this on rights. And I say, yes, and I say no, et cetera. But the Pope wrote or spoke that Jesus does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them saying, even though you make many prayers, I will not listen your hands are full of blood. And then this is our God, Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. That's different than whether or not a war is justifiable. But the idea of the prayers rejected, or prayers rejected of those who would fight to end slavery,

35:07to free children from being raped. I want the Pope to answer that question because this is so directed at Trump and Israel regarding Iran, the people who suffer in Iran daily, the women who suffer in Iran daily, those who are gay who have suffered at the hands of the regime thrown off rooftops daily. He's got to answer those prayers. I accept that the Pope is going to say things that the Pope says and talks about, bringing the world together in peace and harmony. It's hard to have peace and harmony with people who want to kill you. Sometimes you have to do horrible things. I don't always expect the Pope to understand. I would have expected a little better than this. I'm Tony Katz.
