與非盈利組織靠補助和捐款不同，影響力投資的標的是有盈利並且成長的企業，在初期以天使投資和創投等協助新創的工具，將這些標的也當成新創扶植，在後期則有被收購和上市等退出管道，但收獲的不只財務報酬還有影響力。影響力目前也有量化指標，將來可能對應到某一類新的商業價值，讓善意能促成對社會有益的生意，並且循環。
