A 27-year-old woman from Loughborough spent years hiding a severe eating disorder behind a picture-perfect life of owning her own home and holding down a full-time job. The condition started during her school years, but she stayed in deep denial while building what look-wack success from the outside. Lockdown hit hard, cutting off social ties and restaurants, which let her illness take over completely. She ended up sectioned and first admitted to a hospital in Lester. Then moved to the Specialist Eating Disorder Unit at Signet Neal House and Crew. For two years of treatment, a turning point came when her grandfather, her closest companion, lay dying in hospital. Staff went the extra mile by supporting her through an emotional goodbye, which helped her finally trust the team and open up during her lowest moments.
