Hi, I'm Scarlett Classic, and welcome to Classic Advice, a mental health podcast that is guidance for resilient souls and can calm amid the chaos. This is your reminder to focus on hope today. I've been through some pretty dark places and through some pretty tough times, and I just wanted to remind you today that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And you might be saying, Scarlett, I can't see the light. It's so dark where I am right now. If it's so hard and you're in a really low valley, maybe in a tunnel, and you can't

see light, you don't know how you're going to get through today or next week or this month. But it might just be that you're about to round a corner in that tunnel, and the end is right there, and the light is right there. I've shared this on my podcast before, but I will share it again. One of the scariest times I went through and did not know how I would ever get through what I was going through was finding myself being a single parent of two very, very young boys. I didn't know how I was ever going to get through that. I never expected to find myself in that position. Never in a million years did I ever think that I would become a single parent that will

never, no one ever intends that to be the goal. But I never thought I would find myself there. And yet I found myself there, and then I was dealing with mental health issues as well. Situational depression is what my counselor told me, being thrown into a situation where that situation is so heavy that you get depression because of it. But I'm here telling you not my dark times to discourage you or to throw a pity party, but to tell you that I got through it, and if you are going through a really tough time right now, if you're trying to kick up that habit and you just keep falling down, or you find yourself as a single parent, or you, your kid finds himself now as single parent,

and you're helping them out because of it, and it's hard to see your kids in pain. I'm telling you that there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and if you have people to lean on in your world, then lean on them and let them help you. And if you're the one helping, and it's your kids that are in trouble, and experiencing maybe not in troubles through a wrong word, but experiencing a lot of emotional pain, just being there for them is so big. My parents were there for me when I was going through a hard time, and it meant the world to me. Life is going to have its ups and downs, but hanging on to hope that it will get better and that you can handle it. You can handle a lot more than you think.

You can. It's interesting when life throws things at you, and you are forced to step up to the plate. It's amazing what you can accomplish. It really is, so today, the only thing, if this is the only thing that you do today, I want you to hang on to hope. Don't give in to that depression, analyze your thoughts, because sometimes our thoughts lie to us, and that can be a discussion for another day, but sometimes our thoughts are not true. Hang on to hope today. Amen on your friends, and if your friends don't know what you're going through, then maybe pick just one friend, and tell them what's happening, tell them what you're going through.

Not to have a pity party, but so that they can be there for you, and so that they can love you, and so that they can tell you exactly what I'm telling you, that there is hope, and that you can, and that you will get through this. And if you know someone that is going through a tough time today, I would encourage you to give them a call, and just check in, and tell them what I'm telling you today. If you're on a high, if you're on a mountain, and things are really great today, and this doesn't really vibe with you, then I would like you to think about someone in your world that maybe seems off lately, and maybe they seem off because they're actually in a valley but haven't said so, and maybe you can be their hope today. Maybe you can give them a call, and check in, and just say, hey, is everything okay?

And if everything isn't okay, I hope you can feel like you can tell me, and that I'm here for you, and that I love you. Thank you for tuning in to Classic Advice, guidance for resilient souls. May you stay anchored in what studies you, rise resilient through what challenges you, and carry calm into whatever comes next. Take care, love you, bye.
