A statement from Dylan Larkin who requested a trade. He says over the past couple of weeks, Redwings leadership and I have had several in-depth discussions. With new leader, when new leadership is in place, we'll talk further about the direction of the team. We will keep those conversations private and I will keep my focus on the season ahead and the guys in the room. The red wings and I don't know who for the red wings, but there is a statement from the red wings. A general statement from the red wings. First, on Dylan Larkin reporting the camp. Just to be honest, and this is tweeted out from the Detroit Red Wing. Yes, it is. It is from the themselves. Yeah. We look forward to seeing Dylan and the rest of his teammates at Little Seas, his arena for the start of training camp. So we prepare for the upcoming season on Dylan Larkin's trade request. Dylan is under contract as a member of the Detroit Redwings. Any conversations regarding his future with the club will take place privately when a new hockey operations leader has been named. As such, we will not comment any further on this matter and on the captain sea of the red wings. The red wings will begin the 26 27 season without a captain being named. Any further discussions or decisions regarding this topic will be made once new

2:07a new hockey operations leadership is in place. All right. So there's a lot to unpack here. First of all, I think the statement is the Dylan Larkin statement is interesting from the first sentence over the past couple weeks. Redwings leadership and I have had several end up conversations, which begs the question, who's the relationship of the red wings? I don't know what it is. Does that mean Chris Illich? I mean, what does this mean? But I appreciate that it is released a statement. I'm surprised it doesn't say anything there about the fans. It's just straightforward about the team. And then you have the red wings side of it and it reads like it's straight out of AI, which is fine because everybody needs to be just there is no leadership in place right now. So there's no reason to add anything where you can speculate on it. It's just cut and dry. Okay. We got to address training camps next week. Yes. All the players are coming with a fort everybody. Fair enough. Okay. The trade request, well, we keep that private.

3:09We're not going to talk about ongoing negotiations. Fair enough. That's easy enough. And the captain C part is the interesting one because that's that's something that I don't think that they needed to make a statement on and I'm glad that they did, but it's curious that they did and what that was said, which is that they're not going to have a captain being named right now for the discussions or decisions regarding this topic will be made once new hockey operations leadership is in place. I find it really interesting because I have a hard time thinking at this point that Todd McClellan is not going to be the head coach, right? Give it that they're practicing starting next week and training camp, although things happen all the time in the NHL. But if you're a GM coming to this team, you would think that you have your you get the approval on who is the head coach of this team as part of the gig. But I mean, do you come in and come in hot, make changes right away or do you say, all right, McClellan's an experienced NHL coach, we're going to leave in place here and we'll let them flush out who's going to be the captain.

4:13I think all that is is probably true. So it's it's curious and yet the same time, I think that it's smart that they have said that they don't have a captain now because they need to get to kind of feel this out and what this, how does the team feel about this? How the players feel about this? We want to bring good statement was a couple days ago, which seemed favorable for Dylan Larkin, but I don't know if everybody on the Red Wings feels that way. So they need to figure this out a training camp. Okay, how is he being received by his teammates? Does he have to make a speech to his teammates and talk about asking for the trade and all that and there's a lot to clear up from him and the team, but at least it seems like they're in a good place to get that started. And I appreciate that this is I wish this happened weeks ago or months ago, but it didn't, you know, I wish this happened right amongst amongst the things that we wish happened weeks and months ago. This is on the list as well. Yeah, I mean, like, wish that everything had happened months ago, but it didn't. It's a weird timeline with what's going on with one of the most

5:13storied franchises in all of professional sports that now they're as a franchise, they're not acting like one of these franchises. It's just strange, but okay, here it is less than a week before training camp and now they've released statements from Dylan Larkin and about Dylan Larkin. So when's the leadership going to be named? So I suspect he's going to be fine in the room. I think I think to bring its comments are going to be reflective of how most players feel. And it could be wrong on this, don't you know, but I think he's going to be fine in the room. I think his bigger issue is the fans now. That really shouldn't impact his job. It might make it uncomfortable if there are booze for Dylan Larkin. I'm not a guy who typically booze. So I, it is a business. He was making a business decision. And if you think about the state of the red

6:14wings, it's not like stunning that a player wanted out, given the direction of the organization. The fact that it got out is probably sub-optimal. I don't remember there being any, there's been no comments from Dylan Larkin publicly since this trade request. And quite frankly, we don't know how this got out. There's speculation, but it's not like Dylan Larkin came out and he announced he wanted a trade. It got reported that he had requested a trade. And then I spent finally had to address that by saying, yes, his agent requested a trade. And that was it. He wasn't taking any more questions on that. And that was the only thing that's ever been said. And that was months ago. That was what right before the draft. Yep. So here we go with this breaking news, Dylan Larkin. It says he's looking forward to training camp. And he'll talk to new leadership when it gets in place. And the red wings have, I guess, officially stripped

7:17them of his captaincy. And but they're leaving the door open. It's pretty clear that they're leaving the door open to see how this goes because they're not naming a new captain. I mean, you could see it going on a bunch of different directions. I could see the team totally getting behind Dylan Larkin. Hey, you stood up to Iserman and we appreciate that. Which is a weird thing to say. Well, right. And I don't like saying it because I'm a huge devisement fan not as much as him as a GM. But it's not going to trump my feelings for him as a player and what he meant to this organization. What he still means is organization. But I could see players getting behind him from that standpoint from what he said a couple years ago, the trade deadline and then putting his money where his mouth is and saying, All right, fine. I want out. And does that force all this to happen? It seems like it forced all this to happen. At least that's one conclusion you could draw. But it's it's the right thing. I mean, the week away from training camp, he had to say something like what's going to

8:19happen? It's going to be really awkward. He can still win over fans with what he would say in front of cameras and microphones. Is he going to get some booze to start the season? You bet you, he will. But you know, after that first game, if he's booed that first game, which you probably will be, he'll have a chance to do that and say, I totally understand where the fans are coming from. Really unfortunate how things unfolded and I'm going to do my best to, you know, to do what's right for this hockey team and hopefully the fans get back on board. Meantime, I hope that they will cheer us on as a team, but me as an individual, obviously we've got some work to do. Do men some fences there? But they've got other things can happen too now because if this if this indicates to you and because there's what it says to me, Larkin's on this team. They're not trading. I don't think that's happening. I don't think I don't think they got real trade offers for him that we're going to be anything. There is now it's a growing percentage in me. It began at like 2%, maybe 5%, now it might be up to like 15%. I really think that the Red Wings are going to make a trade to bring

9:22somebody here for Dylan Larkin, or not necessarily for him, but somebody that like a Quinn Hughes type that has not signed an extension with Minnesota and they're getting concerned about that up there and now Detroit's going to call Minnesota and say, oh, no, it's not about sending Dylan Larkin to you. How about sending Quinn Hughes to us? And let's talk about that because you're going to lose that guy because you're not going to pay him and maybe new leadership is going to say we got to pay somebody or do they call Columbus about Zach Werencky who's reportedly Larkin's best friend and say, we know he hasn't agreed any extension. How about we talk about a deal that benefits both teams? I think that's a real possibility that can get somebody else here. Well, it's going to be interesting. And as I take a look at this, moving forward, I tend to agree with you. I don't think Dylan Larkin's getting traded. Unless he winds the list of teams that he would accept the trade to because he essentially came up with
