2:02So I mean not just Justin Lomua to make sure that free-o don't go out in straight sets. But Josh Tracy, four positions, one goal last week against Hawthorne. Now, Joe Amos, one goal, five positions last week against Hawthorne. Patrick Voss, only one behind last week against Hawthorne. But I still think Matthew and Dix is number one in the pressure meter. Tom Morris reported that it could be sacked of Adelaide Lost to the dogs last week. And many said, well, you can't sack him based on one loss. Or maybe you can't resign him for 2027 and beyond based on one win either. Which is what he had last week, a home win where they just got through against the dogs. Maybe this week is the week where they will make some decisions. If the crows get smashed by Brisbane, maybe you're still in trouble. I don't think you want to get smashed by Brisbane. And Brisbane, historically this year, has a habit of smashing teams the week after they've been smashed by. So I think Matthew, next might still be number one in the pressure meter heading into this weekend's round ahead of Justin Lomua.

But I think that they should take it up to Jolong now. I still think that's a bit of a coin flip because you can never write up Jolong in September. However, has there ever been a more foregone conclusion in a, like a semi AFL semi-final before then with Brisbane versus Adelaide? Because I've talked to a lot of mates, a lot of co-workers and no one is giving Adelaide a chance at all. And I'm honestly with them with them as well. And I think that Nick won't get resigned because I honestly think an angry and embarrassed Brisbane could be scary for Adelaide. And I'm tipping 75 plus Dwayne. I think it could get ugly at the Gabba mate. What do you think?

5:07What's your opinion? Yeah, well, Adelaide played a different style to every other team that's in the competition at the moment. And Daniel Hoen talked about it last night with the Sports Day team as well on full on 40 talking about the Adelaide crows are going to have to probably buck the trend if they don't play this aggressive straight down the middle style that other teams are playing. So if they don't play that style of, well, if they don't all of a sudden flip it and play the style that everybody else is playing, I'm not sure they can go all the way to winning the flag, Carlos and Ken Engelian Hoenie, I could probably play a couple of grabs from last night, but there is this feeling, but the same feeling was there probably for the swans, unable to beat Brisbane last week. But I think the circumstances are a lot different for the swans being able to galvanize themselves and get together and try and defend their culture. This is Matthew and Nick's game style, which you know, I only just fell in against the dogs last week, up against the back-to-back reigning premiers who've just been kicked

6:08in the back side, Carlos. So yeah, that's why I think Matthew and Nick's is still number one in the pressure meter as well. Good, have you cool? Smashing? That's the hard part. What would a smashing do for Matthew and Nick's chances of being resigned for 2027? And beyond. I hear it, Matthew. What can you hear? I want to ring up today, nothing, the Monday or Friday after 40, because it's going to seem as umpire passion. I want to compare the how administrators affect umpires. In FIFA and the World Cup, they were told to contact just when the players fell over, just to try and ignore as much as they could. And during that tournament, they did that a lot. But when it got to the end, you know, the quarter final, semi-final final, they were very good back to the simple top. Now, I don't know why I'm part of it too, that they get directives like, like for example, contact below the knees. When that rule came in, that's all it was.

7:10It was severe contact below the knees. Then some added change to just contact below the knees, any contact. Yeah. So, players leading with their head, like charging into a still player, absolutely and getting a free, not holding the ball. This is where the administrators need to say to the umpires, we don't mind, I don't mind losing again because your team, it was an interpretation of holding the ball or whatever. But when it's structural and in their rules, it felt like bounding when he fell over the elbows and there was no review. There are structural issues that need to be fixed. So, but it is still open for interpretation, isn't it, below the knees, free kick. I hear him what you're saying, but still there's a lot of rules that when you look at them, they are so open for interpretation that the umpires can get it wrong in the eyes of the footy public, but still get it right in the eyes of the umpire, bosses who would

8:12say that's the way we want to pay it. So, when they touch anyone below the knees, it's the free and that's what they hear in their effects, like contact below the knees. Yeah, well, it was the first contact. Well, I would hope that it stays severe contact. I would like to, I'm not sure how it's actually written up, but I would still suggest that it is severe contact, but if you cause a guy to jump, if you dive across his legs and you cause him to jump to get out of the way of your dive, then I think that's still a allowance to pay that free kick. That's the way I would interpret it as an umpire. If you're about to have your legs snapped in half by a guy diving across them, when you're not kicking the ball, you're actually pursuing the ball, different if you're kicking it off the ground and the guy's trying to smother. But if you're pursuing the ball and the guy dives out your legs to try and cut you down and you jump to try and avoid it and the contact is minimal, I would still pay that as a free kick, wouldn't you? I would, but Dwayne, I just want more question to you. When Grand Maire Swank came in, he said, all the punching was going to be a week.

9:20How many punches do we see now off the ball? Very, very few. Yeah, which is great, isn't it? Which is great. So all we have to do when the player, you know, dives with his head, just go right, doesn't matter where it is, that's going to cost a goal. So be it. Just play hold in the ball. Yeah, no, I'm with you here. I think players leading with their head, there needs to be a crack down on that. I'm agreeing with you 100% on that. And there will be some tinkering with the rules at the end of this season. So we'll be talking about that in the off season as to what tinkerings you do and don't want. Well, I personally think he's one of the greatest players to ever play, that never won a grand final. He's sort of, he's of that, he was just brilliant. 10:23Now he's taken over swap coast and he's the sea out, the swans, and he's got to manage the swans torpedoing themselves. And then it could possibly end up that he's going to be playing free, man, on the old club, if they get both get through to the grand final. And I think he's just, if he can get him there, he's doing a fantastic job. Yeah, strange one. I don't think he's under the pressure that you think he's under, but interesting call. Good to have you. We expect them to be precise with, but because they don't practice it, Paul, as much as they should, they often don't get it right.

12:29Yeah, I'm breathing with that. And it's not an upper throw ball up here. It's what I'm wondering. Well, you still need to practice it. It's like any skill. If you don't practice it over and over and over again, you can't throw it to the same spot. If I asked you to throw the ball up to exactly the same spot, you know, ten times in a row, exactly the same height, exactly the same height. If you hadn't practiced it, Paul, it'd be a hell of a lot worse at trying to nail it every time than you'd practice it a hundred times. I'm actually an umpire down the one to finish it. And it's up throw it up as high as I can. Yeah, I would have always used two, Paul. It gives the ruckus me for a good lead. Well, you can't go wrong if you throw it up as high as you can. 17:36I want to sit on the news, because really, who wants to coach for that team? And the other figures, I spoke to you a few months ago about 10 meter arc and the throw-ups around the boundaries. And severe conditions on the weekend proved that the variables being the umpires, it doesn't work all the time. It's a very difficult game to adjudicate. So let's take away the other variables. What do you think? Well, so what would you do instead? Well, I told you, is it 15, 20 meters from the boundaries, just have a dotted line or whatever, you know? And pull it up there or throw it up. Because I'm a Melbourne supporter and go and can't get down that low and it drops a foot. We saw it on the weekend and other listeners are saying the same thing. So we can't adjust the rules just because Gourney can't be down there.

18:37Yeah, maybe Gourney should come in closer to the boundary and lend and be ready for that short throwing. They can designate on the ground. Listen, it's a multi-billion dollar industry, sure a couple of extra lines. Maybe with a bit of advertising on it, that's making it. Oh, just quickly, just on the Matthew Nix story, Cain ran with it, knows and is up saying that he's someone in a board level he's spoken to. I think he's not able to see his question on that number time, but at least not just someone around the club, but it was someone higher up had gone with that, that it mixed in in that game. I just think, I don't know, a bit of a whack for you today.

27:47I think it's a bit of a way to go with this story about, you know, now what happens if he loses this game? Because no one has checked up and verified the story. You can just, I find it surprising that that board member hasn't got the set. Surely the club now where it came from, it actually could do our whole panel. So why isn't that source and the scrutiny? And I know you do know, it's going to say all of the things I can't just go to the board here. So when did Cain say it was a board member? Well, he was asked specifically if it was someone higher up than just around the club. He was asked that on that channel, seven. But it's not a bad story. It's a kind of, Cain didn't source the source. Tom Mars of story. So I don't know how Cain would then alleged that it's a board member. It wasn't his story that it was Tom Mars of story. So it's Cain now saying that a board member has set it near. Is that where it's at? It's Cain alleging that it was a board member because I've heard anyone alleged that it's a board member. That actually narrows it down a bit near. And I thought that most of the journals would be afraid

28:49to narrow it down that far. Well, Cain actually said that what Tom Mars went with it saying that it was somewhere higher than and Cain's gone with that as well saying that it was someone. It's a kind of just guessing. So Cain's just guessed then. He hasn't actually alleged. He's just guessed. Wishing that he's not Tom Mars is just in all making it up. Well, no, they think he has a source, but he hasn't named a board member. So it's best for you not to alleged that it's a board member as well. And we're not alleged it's a board member. You're obviously just quoting Cain Cain who didn't alleged it. He actually guessed it. So let's just clarify that. It's obviously not a board member then because no one's. No one's been able to clarify who Tom Mars's source is, but Tom Mars certainly didn't say it was a board member. I'm glad we got there eventually. That's the trouble with people coming on and saying they heard this and heard that and then half making it up. Because I haven't heard Cain make that allegation myself. I haven't heard Cain go with the story

59:42perspective so if you see coaches been giving two years to at least try and reset the players mindsets then that's not a fault of the coach coming in that's the ultimate thing to play through people this up as they go yeah so how long how long do you be under the the the ten coxen area with some first-time coaches or first-year coaches don't quite get right or don't quite get lucky or get a few injuries etc like he had to wear a golden last year and a few other players so it would be more about the second year as much as the first year is pretty important the second year would be the big one wouldn't it Brendan yeah well second year we think about Sydney Dean cox walked into a much better situation than this coach walk into a dog dog that was the player and the development of the players at that time so I don't see any reason why just one year should be enough for a player the coach to have failed yeah but can I just also extend it then Brendan and that that is if it was John Lomire who got the job or Adam

1:25:00acceptable if they're not improved on what Clarko got win lost this year I think there's going to be expectation regardless but I get I get completely what you're saying I think this is a different job to say Stephen King taking over Melbourne and even Josh Fraser taking over Calton at one and eight when expectations were completely shot this feels like a team that's ready to vault into the top eight or top ten as it is and look just in regard they're just such different coaches so obviously like you talk about you reference John Longmer there what's you coach 28 finals and four grand finals like and then you you talk about maybe a core in right who hasn't coached a single AFL game so how can they possibly drop the criteria and this is the other thing the criteria is about to be sent out from the club to the to the prospective candidates that have those preliminary conversations with how can there be a criteria to weigh in that caters for both you know John Longmer and a core in right so really the club and in their early conversations with these preliminary or these prospective candidates I've spoken to the indication the club have given and it's only an indication it's not categorical and it might change is that

1:26:01they are leaning towards a first-time coach so some of the first-time coaches I've spoken to this morning say that and also some of the former coaches I've spoken to this morning say that's the way North Melbourne is is leaning but we won't know for sure until that criteria is sent out I believe it's been established and when it does get sent out to these candidates I mean it's hard to have a John Longmer and a Jamie Graham who can possibly both meet the criteria can it it's going to be well unless the criteria is pick is the best person for the job no but the criteria that get sent out to these coaches is what they want their next coach to look like so do they want an experienced coach or do they want a first-time or maybe it's so broad that it that it that it caters for both but maybe it does she's it's getting into you know the similar sort of dilemma that that Calm of ad obviously Melbourne have had and an Essendon have had and I'm sure a few clubs next year will have as well so in terms of coaches we know that there's at least one club after one what about the assistant coach Merri go around there's a bit of that happy to have it too that's in full swing and there's going to ramp up in conjunction with the
